December 21 2012?

4. The Bible
Which interpretations. I call bullshit.

Christians and all those that believe in the New Testament of that terrible thing called the Bible, think the word is going to end. So some of them pick 2012 as the year there savior will come back and fist fuck the world. Why? They will believe just about anything and they have such a hard time finding meaning in life, they are ready to die.

There morons. Don't listen to morons.

You all should be far more concerned with things like the current state of our rain forests, coral reefs, and other biomes on earth. The fate of South Americas rainforests will be decided any day on some fucking retarded bill act whatever you want to call it. If passed, it will allow some meat companies to decimate and burn whats left of South Americas rainforest's so they can make a quick buck. Destroying our earths lungs and eradicating a biome essential to tens of thousands of species survival.

All we have to fear is our selfs. Mainly Christians.

I'm a Catholic, and I, as well as just about everyone I know, don't believe the world is going to end. Yes, there are extremists, but that is a very small minority and shouldn't be regarded as representative of the whole population.

You know, insulting isn't usually the best way to get your message through. Makes you seem like a pretty narrow-minded person. Not that you probably care.

Mekkah said:
Feel free to laugh at me when the world ends?

Well, I wouldn't laugh at you because you generally didn't just 'lol' at the idea unlike people such as zzzzzzzz and Vanduar. But thanks for pointing out the ironic part of my post. Could the irony have been intentional by any chance?

Actually one of my personal fantasies is to somehow be around to witness the aftermath of some cataclysmic event that wipes out the majority of humans and sets the rest back to the stone age. Fast forwarding thousands of years, can you imagine the awesome new cultures and languages that would exist?

I have had that same fantasy. It would be really interesting to see the new religions as well. If you could watch over everything it would be very amusing to see mankind once again in the stone age slowly becoming more advanced as time goes on.

Wasn't there already a topic about this?

Out of the large list, 3, 4, and especially 10 are the most likely to happen, though the order is more likely 10, 3, and then 4. The list of 7 things is quite laughable, considering the very low probability that any of those things will happen, let alone on that particular day.

I know, and your basically right. I my self just don't like to sugar coat things.

Don't be silly, it's not 2012. It's December 31st, 9999, when the Gregorian calender ends!

...Or we could just add an extra digit on the end.

Every other time someone predicted the end of the world they were wrong (obviously)

Ever go to the grocery store around September 11th? Every year there is a whole bunch of "end of the world" prophecies in the magazines. Oh, and BTW, I am a Christian and I am not stupid enough to believe that the Bible says when the world will end. At the very end of the book (yeah, I skipped a bunch of chapters, sue me) it says that even Jesus doesn't know when the world will end... so how are we supposed to gather this information from the Bible?

So yeah, Ambitions, it's only a choice few idiots who call themselves "christians" who are saying this stuff.

Thankfully I survived Y2K to leave this post. :)

We could die tomorrow we could or could of died last year.
I like to keep a open mind.
So I'm going to PARTY so freaky hard all day and all night on 12/20/2012 that i'll be to far gone to care what happens the day after.

Mayans were a great civilization, advanced for their time and their limitations, one of the few great fist astronomers.

Their culture was so rich and vast (even if they had human sacrifices), but let me tell you... they never spoke about the end of the world, like it's been said so far they never said the world would end in 2012. Also btw the culture that thought the Spanish were Gods were the Aztecs.

Now about the Bible... it's not the Bible itself what is wrong, it's all the people around it which are retarded, they use the Bible as a excuse to justify their beliefs and try to control people over it.The Bible doesn't speak of when the world will end, at least is so ambiguous about it. Of course it has their version of Genesis as well as Apocalypse, but is NOT literal.

End of the world: on his birthday in 2012, darkie celebrates with aamto, Shiv, and Kumar, and the vast amount of curry consumed causes a shortage leading to India declaring war on the world. If only I had succeeded in getting darkie hooked on cinnamon rolls...

Err I said this when it was a firebot thread...just saying!

You know, we're all gonna die someday. If you're so scared about it, why are you wasting your time deliberating on an internet forum.

That's my question to all these people.

To the OP: What do you mean with "Earth destruction"? I hope it's not "oh god we're all going to die", because, it's just *our* end. The planet will still be here, and in the end, we'll have just another dominant race having the same problems we do. And probably, the same kind of people saying an old civilization has predicted the end of the world in 2012, "WE'LL ALL BURN IN HELL" (again)!

Destroying our earths lungs and eradicating a biome essential to tens of thousands of species survival.

If I recall correctly, Amazon Forest is not the Earth's lung, as almost the entirety of the oxigen produced by the forest is consumed by itself. The oceans are the true global lungs.

And, to be fair, I don't see this "bill act" you mentioned being approved anytime soon. We Brazilians can be pretty apathetic about a lot of things (see: corrupt politicians), but not with the forest. Yeah, every day we see on the TV about its destruction and yet we don't do much, but people surely would not like to see the President signing up a bill act allowing Amazon Forest to be burned down. We still have some brains. I think. I hope.

New world order?

What is this and how will it make the world end?

Bullsh** THE EARTH ENDING and if it does so be it

I am 100% convinced that in 2012, sometime around the month of december, the worlds magnetic fields are going to slowly start shifting around (option 7) creating horrible weather and geological effects to happen.

Why am i 100% certain? Because the great Edgar Cayce himself predicted this, and well, he was never wrong.

The only good thing to come out of this will be that if it does end on the 21st of December, 2012, I'll die at the tender age of 22. One more day and I might have been a horrifying 23....

In any case, it doesn't matter much does it? All these 'reasons' for the Earth to be destroyed in 2012 are out of our capacity to change. If it has to happen, it will. You can't do shit about about so why worry yourself to death over it?

I have a strong disbelief towards this.
Maybe it is because i don't want to believe it, but most of the theories become null/void with a few words said.
nuclear holucaust is a major possibility, though.
i think that if we can figure out what keeps the cockroaches alive, we could save ourselfs from radiation and all of that shit.

Even if the Magnetic fields reverse (and I hate to break it to you, its not "when". They're in the process of reversing now) we won't all be "burnt to a crisp". Radiation will increase in our environment. What does this mean? Large scale amounts of Cancer (which is bad, but not the end of the world). For us to become Mars Part II, or burnt to a crisp, the magnetic fields would have to fully disappear.

I bet everyone single one of you a million dollars the world doesn't end in 2012, any takers?
Seriously though, I read this book named 2012 (one of many) by Daniel Pinchbeck, hoping to maybe glean the slightest idea of an answer. While this slow, arduous read did fascinate me with odd facts about crop circles and drug induced trips, it still left me a little empty. Some facts brought up were really interesting, one being the pineal gland is the soul (I'm not explaining it here). But even this drug crazed hippie had no clue as to whether the world would end in 2012, as one of the last lines of the book states that believing one is part of a higher purpose is a major sign of insanity, easily caused by drugs. We have two opposite ends of the spectrum, scientists and people who don't even bother wearing shoes or cutting their hair, and neither one has a CLUE. So who cares? Life live until it ends, then don't live anymore, problem solved.

Alot things could it be true?

The mayans predict alot of things, 911, floods, earthquakes . According to sites above. Also predict things to go wrong with presidant , Predicted obama to win somthing is going to go wrong according to what i been reading. This as been on the news fox new etc... and discovery channel.

The end of the world on decemeber 21 2012 could happen. From earth changes.

7 reason's why World will end decemeber 21 2012.

1. Mayan Calendar

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:

Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and
Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms

solar_storm.jpg

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says...

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano

sthelenaex.jpg

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

6. The Physicists

This one's case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they've determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon - while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so - and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it Touches.

I thougt this will bring a good discussion.

Now Discuss.

Edit: Also post Yes or No if you think this could happen. I say No

This shit could happen any day. Just continue with a normal life with as little stress as possible and you will be fine.

This.

Also where in the Bible does it say the world will end at that specific time? Ill tell you - nowhere. Armageddon'll come as a theif in the night no man can predict when it will happen.

All blown outta proportion as usual like 6/6/6.
