December stats are up!

I think we shouldn't look at these statistics and then update the tier lists monthly because of them, but rather we should look for long-term trends. Also, we need to take the WiFi metagame into consideration. I made a thread asking about the differences in the WiFi and Shoddy metagame, but unfortunately Aeolus locked it (I think the title was misleading)

Haha, I love how Kingdra and Crobat are getting MUCH MORE use. They seriously deserve a shitload of awesomeness they get in this generation. Makes me want to use Kingdra again. ;)

Anyways, something that did suprise me was that the use of some things going down, even the likes of Skarmory and such. Glad that Magnezone is picking up a bit more too, a little unexpected but nevertheless great.

Wow...Gallade at 51, below Umbreon. No wonder it rapes so much; everyone under-estimates it. Seriously, great attack, good special defense, passable speed, hypnosis, and swords dance. BP it some speed and watch it sweep...

Nice to see Empoleon being given its opportunity to shine. Had I played much during the month of December, I'm sure its usage would have been a bit higher.

I'll come out and say it despite how rude it probably sounds. The WiFi metagame is insignificant compared to Shoddy Battle and can safely be ignored.

Constant updates are really fine since one month is really a pretty long time, and how does it help you know what is used now to think about what was used a few months ago? The purpose of tiers is to serve the players by informing them of what Pokemon are major factors in the metagame, and what used to be used isn't very significant compared to what is being used right now.

How come nobody is looking at the most surprising thing? Prinplup only had 1 point! Ekans, in second to last is 158 ahead and even prinplups pre-evolution is 90 places ahead of it and up by 4349 points.

seriously, people need to use more prinplup.

side-note: How do you get only 1 point?

Lol I pack Staraptor (CB variant, because with Choice Scarf you throw away that amazing power) in every team I have. It just makes me feel so good that I happened to have used a Pokemon that really gained a lot of use this month. :P.

Muwahahahaha, offense is trending upwards, defense (stall) is trending downwards.

Yay for fun matches!

Gallade had to be one of the most overused pokemon back when Rhyperior was popular a few months back.

In a metagame where Sp. Attackers can take on Blissey and win... Gallade's nice Sp. Def doesn't really cut it anymore. You're not switching him in on Heatran, and Specsmence can OHKO even with 252 Sp. Def. Standard Blissey literally takes super effective hits the same as max/max gallade takes neutral hits, and even then some people put more Sp. def into Blissey.

To the person who mentioned Aerodactyl, don't underestimate it. It's deadly in late-game, with base 130 Speed and base 105 Attack backed up by Life Orb.

Thats defintely Aerodactyl's niche, faster than Weavile and with a much higher base power STAB it hits harder then him too, as well as getting much better coverage with QuakeBeam (well, Ice Fang but same diff) and with an incredibly fast substitute to back it up, nothing really outclasses it for late game sweeping. It definitely deserves it spot.

Honestly, Obi's incredibly popular stall team drove those specific pokes, like Hippo and Tentacruel, up to unnatural levels of popularity. In the end though, well-planned offense wins out over well-planned defense in D/P, and a lot of players focused specifically on using offensive threats to stop the stall. That means we're seeing those pokemon, and stall pokemon in general, trend down.

Even after trending down they tend to stay higher than they did before their "recognition team." Tenta is slipping for the reason that people are starting to not use Obi's team but is still staying well above UU and BL because it's a useful toxic spiker and fast special tank.

side-note: How do you get only 1 point?

If you get negative points, instead of subtracting 100 points from the Pokemon's monthly score, it simply only gains 1 point.

So that means 1 player used Prinplup in 1 battle, and lost points in the battle that they used it in.

Crobat's ability is actually great for a starter. You can't get flinched by Fake Out Ambipom =)
Fastest [unboosted] Taunt in the game can wreck many pokemon.

I'm quite surprised at Azelf being #18 lead. In the first month when I played shoddy, he was always my lead but he isn't very good at that. Even Scarf variants are easily owned by Weavile/T-tar after getting stuck on Psychic. Azelf is best used in the mid game where you know for sure if your opponent is packing one of Azelf's biggest threats.

69. Swellow (430 leads) -> 53. Swellow (809 leads)

Awesome. Swellow was used as a lead almost twice as much this month. Maybe he's actually starting to get some of the recognition he deserves. Then again. . . Umbreon, Persian, and Charizard lead more than him. Damn.

100. Swellow (1701611 points) -> 97. Swellow (2814459 points)

He only moved up three spots overall, though, which is rather disappointing. I still find Umbreon's usage very surprising; He's pitifully easy to counter. Oh, well, at least my team is semi-ish unique for using Swellow =/

Roserade should be the number 2 or 3 lead. That thing has so much potential that people fail to see in it. Gengar deserves Gyarados's number 1 spot.
