Introduction
nevermeltice.png

Hi everyone! Alot of you may of seen me rating alot of teams recently and i may of also rated your team! I have received a badge for my efforts in rating teams so i wanted to share this rmt with you all as a celebration for me getting my badge and so other people could rate one of my teams for a change :D It is also my birthday on the 8th so that is another special reason for posting this rmt. Before i go on to information about the team and stuff like that i would like to thank all the team raters that have helped me in anyway, wether it be on the irc, Rating Basics 2.0 or just through PM's and VM's you guys know who you are and i am extremely grateful. A big thanks goes out to tab who gave me the final tips i needed to get my badge and for nominating me for the badge and Delko for giving me the badge you two are the best! I would also like to thank Dr Ciel for testing this team out for me as well i am glad you like my teams :D. So i guess this rmt is a celebration of my birthday, my lady bug, and my 400 posts ;)

I really missed using my last hail team so i figured why don't i just make a new one? So that is exactly what i did. First off i wanted to make an offensive "Blizzspam" hail team. I really didn't get to far with that team, it did alright but it wasn't as good as i hoped. So then i went on to hail stall. Although my team is not really "Full Stall" and more like "Semi-Stall." When building this team i wanted to use a core of Heatran/Jellicent/Forretress i think it is a great defensive core and i even posted it into the Ou Cores thread in the Ou metagame section. A side from the cores great typing synergy, The core also has great functional synergy Forretress sets up Spikes and Rapid Spins for the core Heatran gets up Stealth Rocks and spreads Toxic around, and finally Jellicent protects my hazards with his ghost-typing and also provides Toxic support and can Taunt opposing hazard setters and set up sweepers. Their abilities also go hand in hand Forretress often lures a fire-type move so Heatran can pick up a Flash Fire boost while Heatran often baits the water-type move for Jellicent to get some hp back from Water Absorb. Jellicents grass, ghost, and dark-type weaknesses are resisted by both Heatran and Forretress with Jelilcent's grass-type weakness being a 4x resist for both Forretress and Heatran. The only types that this core doesn't cover well are electric and ground which are perfectly covered by both Abomasnow and Gliscor. When building my team i also checked out Smog 21's article "How its Made: Defense" which can be found here I highly reccomend it to anyone who is making a stall or semi-stall team. So when building the team i followed the three guidelines they had in building a team. 1. "A Physically Bulky Steel-type and a Specially Bulky Steel-type" In my team the specially bulky steel-type is Heatran and the physically bulky steel-type is Forretress. 2. "Cover the Fighting Weakness" In this step yee and Rocket Grunt talk about covering Fighting/Ice-type combinations and Fighting/Dark-type combinations, Gliscor takes on Fighting/Dark and Jellicent takes on Fighting/Ice combinations. 3. "Bulky Water-types" In this step Jellicent is my bulky water-type. The actaul gameplan when using this team is to get hail up and try and set up hazards with Forretress and Heatran. I also like to spread around Toxic with Gliscor and Jellicent, The Toxic, hail and hazards damage all gradually wear my opponent out while i wall my opponent with my team. When my opponents team is weakend i then like to send in Conkeldurr to finish off with a sweep. The team is called "Deep Freeze" because i thought it sounded cool and i thought it would be a fitting name for a hail team. Hail is the least used out of the four weather effects and is often looked down upon in favour of rain, sand and sun. However hail teams can still be quite effective and i hope this rmt encourages some of the newer players or people who have just never used hail before to give it a go! Thats pretty much all i have to say for now so feel free to look at the team! Please leave a rate or some constructive criticism for this team because that would be great. Don't be shy to suggest changes because i am not the type of person who dislikes changes until i have actualy tested them. However in your suggestions please don't suggest swapping out Abomasnow or anything really silly like that either. Also if you really like the team then i would really appreciate you leaving me a Luvdisc and you can even tell me how much you like my team if you want! Anyway without further adieu here is Deep Freeze!

(Abomasnow) (M) @ Leftovers
leftovers.png

Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Atk / 68 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Wood Hammer
- Leech Seed
- Protect

With this team being a hail team Abomasnow obviously has to be in this team. Alot of people often look down on Abomasnow seeing him as a bad pokemon with 7 weaknesses and a crippling weakness to Stealth Rock. While they also think that the only thing that makes Abomasnow at least some what viable his his ability Snow Warning. I am not one of those people. Abomasnow is a great pokemon to use in my opinion because it has a useful offensive typing in ice and has the ability to summon permanent hail. Also despite having seven weaknesses Abomasnow has a useful resistance to the common ground, electric and water-type attacks. I went with the standard physical attacker Abomasnow set and it honestly works wonders. Ice Shard is arguably the most important move on this set despite it having 40 base power, because it recieves stab from Abomasnow and it hits alot of dragons in OU for 4x super effective damage while being able to bypass Abomasnow's lack luster speed because of Ice Shards priority. Wood Hammer is Abomasnow's other stab move and despite the move having recoil it has 120 base power and actaully does a huge amount of damage you your opponent. Combined with the hazards that this team uses Abomasnow can destroy Tyranitar and Politoed switch ins who are trying to gain the weather advantage. Leech Seed is a great move on Abomasnow to increase his longetivty whilst simultanuasly dealing damage to your opponent. This can really wear your opponent out quick when combined with hail damage and Protect. Protect is Abomasnow's last move and is basically used to scout and rack up hail and possibly Leech Seed damage.

(Heatran) (M) @ Leftovers
leftovers.png

Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Protect

Heatran is often a staple on hail stall teams due to his useful immunity to fire-type moves because of Flash Fire, His great defensive typing and great support movepool. They are the reasons my team enjoys using Heatran. Although Lavos Spawns's "Genesun" team is every where Heatran is still able to do well against sun teams because of his grass and fire resistances and his boosted fire-type stab. Heatran acts as a special wall for my team often taking Draco Meteors and Fire Blasts from my opponent. He is also my Stealth Rock user, getting Stealth Rock on the field to cripple Dragonite and Volcarona and to just do damage when pokemon switch in. Heatran also helps my team in spreading Toxic around much like Jellicent and Gliscor so i can wear down my opponents pokemon with it. It also works great in tandem with Protect letting Heatran scout while wearing my opponents pokemon out with Toxic and hail damage racking up, but my favourite thing about Toxic on Heatran is how it lures two rival weather inducers (Hippowdon, Politoed) in only to be crippled by Toxic. Lava Plume is the prefered stab move on this Heatran because it is the specially defensive set so it is not ment to spam powerul attack moves while Lava Plume will still get alot of ohko's that Flamethrower and Fire Blast would get such as Scizor, Forretress, Genesect, and Ferrothorn due to their 4x weakness to fire-type moves. Lava Plume also has a 30% burn rate much like Scald letting Heatran often burn the opponent which helps Heatran then wall physical threats, lets Conkeldurr set up easier on the opponent and also makes my opponent get worn down quicker with both burn and hail damage racking up. In The last move slot is Protect which is used just like how Abomasnow uses it to scout and rack up residual damage from hail and the possible Leech Seed and burn.

(Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers
leftovers.png

Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover
- Taunt

Jellicent is a great asset to my hail team because he provides my team with two awesome qualities that any stall team loves. Those qualities are being a bulky water-type while also being a spinblocker. Being a ghost type Jellicent has the awesome ability of being a spinblocker making sure my hazards remain on the field despite my opponents Rapid Spin attempts while Jellicent's water-type gives him alot of good resistances in the form of Fire, Steel, while he also has an immunity to water-type moves because of Water Absorb. Much like how Heatran helps my team against sun teams Jellicent helps my team against rain teams being able to take on their boosted attacks with Water Absorb and answer back with a boosted Scald or a Toxic. Another good thing about Water Absorb is how Gliscor and Heatran lure my opponent to go for the water-type move often letting me gain free health with Jellicent. Scald is the obvious stab move and works in the same way as Lava Plume in that it has a 30% burn rate. Toxic is great to wear down my opponents pokemon and does good damage to the opponent when combined with hail damage. Recover is obvious here so Jellicent can stay nice and healthy so he can continue helping me against rain teams and spinblocking through out the match. Taunt rounds of the set and is good to stop my opponents set up sweepers and their attempts to get hazards up.

Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef (0 Spd Ivs)
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Volt Switch

Forretress provides great utility to my team in being able to spin away hazards and set up his own while having steel-typing so he can switch into dragon-types locked into Outrage and either set up Spikes or Gyro Ball. Although he has great physical bulk I usually try and not use Forretress as a physical wall in the match unless i absolutely need to, because i have to keep Forretress healthy to set up Spikes and Rapid Spin my opponents hazards away and Gliscor can still act as a great physical wall. Leftovers i the prefered iteam over Shed Shell because Forretress has alot of important jobs on this team and without Leftovers he gets worn down to quickly. Although Shed Shell has its uses if i can predict a Magnezone switch in i can Volt Switch on it then either go into Conkeldurr to Mach Punch or Heatran to Lava Plume. Gyro Ball is that stab of choice and despite Forretress being defensivly based Gyro Ball has no trouble dishing out damage from a Relaxed nature, 0 speed iv Forretress. Gyro Ball hits the Ice-Types super effectivly that have no trouble with the hail that my team provides. Rapid Spin is incredibly obvious this move allows Forretress to get hazards off my side of the field. Spikes provides Forretress with a form of entry hazards which helps this team alot in wearing down the opponent while Volt Switch lets Forretress escape Magnezone and lets it just switch out i guess.

(Gliscor) (M) @ Toxic Orb
toxicorb.png

Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Protect
- Earthquake
- Toxic

Gliscor works very well on hail teams due to his fighting-type resist and excellent Poison Heal ability. Gliscor is my main switch into fighting-type's and also just my main physical wall in general. With a Toxic Orb Gliscor gains 12.5% of his health at the end of each turn this means after hail damage factors in Gliscor is still gaining Hp at the end of every turn getting 6.25% just like Leftovers would give him. With Protect this lets Gliscor get even more Hp back while stalling my opponent with hail damage and Toxic damage. Protect also lets me scout if my opponents fighting-type pokemon has Fighting/Dark type coverage or Fighting/Ice type coverage. These are both very common types of coverage which can be found on Lucario, Scrafty and Conkeldurr. If my opponent has Fighting/Ice Type coverage they will usually go for Ice Punch as i scout that with Protect once they reveal Ice Punch then i use Jellicent to handle them if they have Fighting/Dark on the other hand Gliscor will stay in and wall them. Protect and Substitute used in conjunction let me stall out my opponent with Toxic damage quite quickly, while Gliscor loses little Hp due to Poison Heal and Protect. Earthqauke is Gliscor's stab move which Gliscor mainly uses when i have a pokemon in ko range by the move or a pokemon immune to Toxic like poison or steel-types due to Earthqauke being able to hit them super effectivly although most steels in Ou have a gorund-type immunity (Skarmory, Air Balloon Heatran) or they don't have have a ground-type weakness (Ferrothorn, Forretress, Scizor, Genesect)

(Conkeldurr) (M) @ Leftovers
leftovers.png

Trait: Guts
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Stone Edge

Conkeldurr is the glue of this team and provides alot of traits that this team loves. For one he is my main Tyranitar counter a pokemon that all hail teams should try to knock off on their threat list. He also has a useful rock-type resist making up for Abomasnow's weakness to that type while he also acts as a pseudo status absorber with Guts and is also my teams late game sweeper. Conkeldurr really appreciates the hazards that my team sets up and the fact that my team wears down my opponents pokemon with Toxic and residual damage because this lets Conkeldurr clean up my oppponents team alot easier. Seeing as my team is sort of like a stall team it doesn't have a revenge killer thats why this team appreciates Mach Punch to revenge kill weaknend threats and Terrakion much like Abomasnow's Ice Shard revenges dragon-types. Bulk Up forms the crux of this set boosting Conkeldurrs base 140 attack to even higher levels making him a deadly late game sweeper while also boosting his physical bulk letting him set up on physical attacking pokemon. Drain Punch gives Conkeldurr a decently powerful stab which helps him get Hp back giving him an easier time stacking up Bulk Ups while also helping him heal off damage that hail has done to him. You guys are probally thinking why does Conkeldurr not have Ice Punch? Stone Edge works just fine as it still hits Dragonite and Salamence for super effective damage but it also helps me against Volcarona and Victini switch ins because otherwise a Choice Scarf Victini can be a real pain for my whole team with V-Create / Fusion Bolt / Zen Headbut / U-turn.

Conclusion
nevermeltice.png

Thank you for reading my rmt! Sorry for the massive amounts of text i just like typing alot when it comes to my rmt's, if you happend to of read the whole thing then well done! You deserve a big pat on the back. This team is one of my favourite teams to play with so please try it out and give me feed back on how much you liked it (hopefully). Anyway please rate, hate Luvdisc, or just tell me your thoughts on this team because i would really appreciate that! For those of you who have never given hail a go please do it and try out this team, it is a very fun style of play but it is sometimes difficult to make. When i was new to the forums and i wanted to make a hail team i tried alot of other peoples hail teams and that helped me make a somewhat decent hail team which can be found here Winter is Coming another great place to go if you are looking to make a hail team is here anyway so i hope you liked the presentation of my rmt as well because it took ages to make. I look forward to seeing your comments people see ya later :)

Nice, this team has Luvdiscs without rates. Hopefully I'll be able to do as a good a job you did for me!

One weakness I see is Acrobat Gliscor. He sets up on your own Gliscor, and your forry. Once he SD's up, he can take out your team one by one. You can't break his sub once its up because everything you have is slower. That means Obama can't really revenge without himself dying and Gliscor can even live an Ice Shard rather decently before Hail takes him out. I'd say change Gyro Ball on forry to HP Ice to stop free set ups. All I can see gyro ball for is random attacks and for the dragons wanting to set up on Forry and Gyro Ball isn't going to scare them. Your core deals pretty well with offensive dragons as it stands. You also have Albino Obama to revenge if Forry dies stopping the set up

That's all I can really think of. Thanks for your help, and congrats on the badge!

Hey Superpowerdude. Congrats on the ladybug and happy birthday!

This team would have been pretty standard and very solid back in BW1, but I can't help but feel its a little outdated in BW2 OU. This is mainly because on paper your team struggles against many of the new Pokemon introducted by and popularized in BW2. Tornadus-T is a big issue, as Heatran is your only Pokemon that can tank a Hurricane reliably, but it can't take a Superpower well at all and doesn't have reliable Leftovers recovery in Hail. Any variant of Keldeo with Hidden Power [Ghost] also seems to be a problem, as it can break Jellicent. Dugtrio Sun is also a big issue for this team, GeneSun in particular. Low Sweep variants of Breloom may also be problematic because Forretress isn't as reliable a check to it, but its far less threatening than Sun, Tornadus-T and Keldeo.

Your defensive core is pretty solid overall so I really want to avoid any Pokemon changes if possible. For that reason, I think the best way to patch-up the overall Dugtrio Sun weakness is to try out RestTalk Shed Shell Heatran over your current set. This allows Heatran to switch-out of Dugtrio, causing common Sun teams a lot of headaches. This does make Heatran less effective at checking everything else except sun, however, so I'm gonna suggest a few other changes to help re-check stuff like Lati@s.

Conkeldurr is a pretty poor metagame choice imo, as its not particularly useful against most of the common teams around. I think the best idea to help counter Tornadus-T and re-check the Latis is to go with another specially defensive steel over Conkeldurr. The best choices for this are Skarmory and Jirachi, but Bronzong also has its advantages too. Skarmory is a personal favourite as Tornadus-T can't just U-Turn out of you and go into Dugtrio before stampeding your team again, but Jirachi has the advantage of being able to WishPass to Heatran and Forretress to help them stick around longer. Personal preference really, but both are still excellent checks to Tyranitar, whilst most of the other Pokemon you were using Conkeldurr for (i.e. Terrakion) are already handled okay by the rest of the team.

As for smaller changes, you could try a more specially defensive EV spread on Jellicent so it matches-up better against CM and Specs Keldeo. Also I think you could try Toxic Spikes on Forretress as its generally useful against stuff like SubSD Terrakion, who is a threat even with Conkeldurr on your team and I just realised now is very very threatening if you get rid of it. Luckily it doesn't get too many chances to set-up, but you'll just need to play really cautiously around it to make sure you get a layer of tspikes up before it comes in and then make sure it doesn't get a chance to SD anywhere.

Hey there, Superpowerdude!

First - grats on the badge.

And now, not really a rate, but a nitpick.

I use the same Abomasnow set on the hail team that I've been testing out, so I can confirm that it's pretty effective. However, if you run 112 speed EVs, you can outspeed defensive Tyranitar and Politoed, so you can OHKO them with Wood Hammer without the risk of taking damage.

Most of what I was going to say has been said by SuperPenguinX above, and I strongly suggest trying out his suggestion.

Solid team, good luck laddering!

Hi. Congratulations on the Ladybug! Now, onto my rate. Hydreigon seems like a problem for your team to face, considering that it dismantles your defensive core with relative ease. The main change that I'd like to push is the Shed Shell ResTalk Heatran that PengX suggested. This gives you a reasonable check to GeneSun, which appears to be all the rage as of late, and a great status absorber (before Poison Heal on Gliscor is activated). Now, these changes will make you vulnerable to offensive LO Volcarona and Scarf Victini. To fix that up, I'd recommend using Scarf Terrakion over Conkeldurr. It not only forces the two threats out, but it also gives your team a slight safety blanket against Tornadus-T and Thundurus-T, the latter of which can give you many headaches if it boosts up once with Nasty Plot.

Now for something completely different. SubSD Terrakion sucks for you to face down, but luckily, it's rather uncommon. However, if you're paranoid that push will come to shove and you end up facing one, you could always try out Toxic Spikes over Spikes on Forretress. This keeps many Pokemon in OU in check, and it also gives you a means of keeping opposing Jellicent down. I'd also try out ClubbingSealCub's idea of 112 Speed EVs on Abomasnow. A summarized list of changes can be found below.

Set(s):

188 HP / 252 Atk / 68 Spe ----> 144 HP / 252 Atk / 112 Spe

Anyway, I hoped this helped. Have a nice day.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions!

@ AntiMetaGame yeah i have noticed that SD Gliscor can be quite a pain for this team so i will try Hp Ice on Forretress.

@PenguinX you made some good suggestions i will definatly try out that Heatran set. I am a bit Skeptical of using Skarmory because i dont have a rock resist but i will still try it out and Jirachi seems like a great idea so i will try that two. I used Spikes on Forretress because i already had three members with Toxic however i havnt tried Toxic Spikes yet and that will definatly be useful against SubSD Terrakion so i will try that as well. Thanks the congrats and happy birthday and the rate haha.

@ClubbingSealCub yeah i will definatly run the 112 speed evs on Abomasnow thanks! and thanks for the congrats :)

@Trinitrotoluene hey thanks for the congrats. As i have mentioned above i will test all those changes that others have mentioned and Terrakion sounds like a great idea! My team could really use a revenge killer and a poke to handle Victini and Volcarona easier.

Hello there, nice team and congratulations! I'd use Shed Shell Heatran with Sleep Talk, as you know, it's very usefull against sun teams. Also I found Landorus special sweeper/wallbreaker can be a problem for your team, I'd try Special Defensive Jellicent in place of your current Jellicent, it can also block Starmie more efficiently. Another weakness that you could have noticed is the bad matchup aganist dragospams. Forretress is your only answer for the Dragon - Ground and Dragon - Water coverage, two of the most common ones, to fix this problem, I recommend a ScarfKion over your Conkeldurr. Scarfkion provides a strong lategamer sweeper and it's a solid answer to ScarfMence and DDnite. Plus, it helps you with Gengar, an annoying pokemon for this team. Another idea is to put Special Defensive Rotom-W in place of Jellicent and ScarfHeracross in place of Conkeldurr, it can use pursuit Starmie and it's a good revengekiller.

Hope it helped, good luck with your team!

A great team you have here Superpowerdude expected no less from you, do not have much to say is a very good team and very solid, liked it so much I will try to do a Hail too =). Luvdisc for you.

@ A l e x a n d e r yeah i was thinking about using specially defensive Jellicent earlier and your rate makes me want to test it so i will thanks! I am in the process of testing Choice Scarf Terrakion now. Also thanks for the congratz :D

@ Miles Tails thanks for the kind words and Luvdisc please do give hail a try :)

Hey , seems like a standard hail team from BW1 , and of course they all have a common weakness .. CM reuniclus .

You have juste .. nothing for it xd , the best you can do is taunt it with jellicent , when it can just psychic you for lots of damage , i can't see how you can win against any reuniclus user if they play smart with it .

NP thundurus and tornadus are a threat too ,but you can weaken them with hail and protect heatran , shouldn't be too hard .

Hey Z-rex thanks for the input! Yeah you are right that those pokemon can sometimes seem troublesome Terrakion helps me a little bit against these pokemon but he can't really switch into them to well.

You have done it once again my brother, another brilliant team, I very much sso liked it during my brief, but fabulous run on the Showdown ladder. I very much love hail and it really needs to be used more in today's metagame. Once again, great team and thanks for the shoutout!

Nice team, congrats on your ladybug.

One little nitpick for your EV spead on Gliscor. With 244 HP EVs, he heals the maximum amount of hp from poison heal and you could put those EVs in defense if you'd like. The more you get hit by physical attacks, the more effective those def EVs will be.

Additionally, have you tried Ice Beam on Jellicent? It allows you to hit Celebi and other grass types for some good damage, and you aren't setup fodder for Dragons. Gliscor is your main answer to a lot of physical threats and it won't always be healthy. You already have toxic on two other pokemon and scald could conflict with the toxic that you may want to inflict on a pokemon anyway.

@ Dr Ciel thanks for the kind words! Thankyou for trying out my teams you are the greatest!

@ Chimpakt Hmmm nice suggestions I think i will go with the ev spread change on Gliscor and no i havn't tried Ice Beam on Jellicent i am trying the specially defensive Jellicent and i will test both Shadow Ball and Ice Beam on that set.

A very belated congratulations on your birthday and your lady bug!
You seem to make some really nice teams and there isnt much I can say for it except to try the terrakion idea mentioned by TNT (yes I know your username :nerd:). Although Scarf Terrakions are quite common he does serve as a good late game sweep and his much quicker than Conkeldurr. The extra ground weakness created shouldnt be too much a problem seeing as you have one that's immune to it completely and one that resists ground attacks. Flying attacks are also less of a threat against you (well the only flying move used most often is probs acrobatics and hurricane (in rain only)).

Also I dont mind you typing up a wall of text, they're usually a nice read anyway and not something that's gonna give you a headache reading.

Overall a nice team and keep up the awesome work :)

What do you do against physically bulky CM Reuniclus? I'd Imagine it gives you an incredibly hard time as it can come in on any of your pokemon barring Jellicents taunt, set up a calm mind and run through all your dudes. Very good team though, I tried it out and ran into that wall.
