Anyways the round begins without much action as the Embirch summons mystic energy into a barrier, which looks to reflect physical damage. Unfortunately for him, Sparky anticipates this and fires off a Thunderwave to paralyze him, which strikes and sends an electric jolt throughout Balsamus's body.

Hoping to outdo the effects of the paralysis the Embirch uses a Flame Charge to get in a weak hit and boost his speed, but the attack does a pitiful amount and the Elektrike is barely shaken. He replies with a powerful Hidden Power, shooting waves of ice across the arena, which smash into Balsamus and keep going.

Hoping to end the round on a high point, the Embirch sends seeds towards Sparky, hoping to leech health using them, but Sparky reacts by roasting the seeds with a flamethrower before they can reach him.

Your format has improved a LOT for that round.

Relax for a mo, then give Balsamus a combo of Ice Fang and Crunch!

Relax ~ Ice Fang + Crunch

A bit of a rough start, Balsamus, but no matter; we can take this thing!

Solarbeam as it relaxes, Giga Drain on the Ice Fang, Counter the Crunch.

If it goes down, change your remaining actions to Growth.

Sparky the Elektrike is clearly on his last legs, but is unwilling to give up, as he rests for a moment to regain some lost energy. However, Balsamus sees this and decides to take advantage of this, by absorbing energy from the sunlight as it lies down. And before the Elektrike can get back on his feet, the Embirch shoots out the solar energy in the form of a powerful (and huge) beam of light, which encapsulates and keeps going past the elektrike until it slams into one of the surrounding trees. When the smoke clears, Sparky is standing defiantly but is definitely hurt.

Unwilling to go down without a fight the Elektrike bits down hard on the Balsamus' head, swinging it from side to side, but Balsamus doesn't seem to care that much. Unperturbed he shoots off some green globs of energy which spiral between the two combatants, leeching Sparky of the last of his health as he falls to the ground.

The round begins with the newly-sent-out Emonga summoning forth a powerful gust of wind which cuts into the Embirch's skin, leaving gashes across its body. As it tries to retaliate, Balsamus is struck by a sudden paralysis and freezes midmotion, unable to complete his action.

As the Emonga starts to attack, the mystical barrier separating the two combatants shimmers away. Boltair takes advantage of this by flipping around and around the Embirch, confusing Balsamus so much he accidentally punches himself! Angered, Balsamus slams the Emonga with a powerful attack, absorbing the damage from his punch and converting it into raw POWER.

Boltair summons another gust of wind, but Balsamus dodges it and shoots out seeds at the flying squirrel. As the round ends, the seeds take away Emonga's health and restore the Embirch's. In addition, he suddenly frees himself of his paralysis. Apparently that confusing acrobat did more good than harm!
Acrobat damaged normally, and paralysis was due to wear out on that turn. I just flavor'd it up a bit :D

Hehey, you're fast again!

Let's see how this goes. Your base pattern will be Growth~Nitro Charge~Flame Wheel. However...

If it uses Acrobat: Counter~Nitro Charge~Flame Wheel.

If it uses Roost: Giga Drain~Nitro Charge~Flame Wheel (This was here before...)

Start from the first item listed no matter where you are in the turn (EXAMPLE: Growth~Counter~Nitro Charge. I deleted what used to be here because it was irrelevant.)

So, You'd like me to Toxic you first?

Ok, then let's keep a good distance with an Air Slash, then I want you to use Acrobat to go up to the skies (Do not attack), and spin those seeds off!

Objection - I'm fine with those subs for now, and now he knows what I'm going to do, which ruins my advantage (Even if I get to reselect my moves).

And he's done it before in the match, no need to change it now.

Well iirc the rule changed at one point during the match, but w/e.

The speedy Emonga does a few flips and shoots out a cloud of purple sludge at the Embirch. Despite his high accuracy, those acrobatics seem to have dizzied him a bit and the poisons splash into the ground near Balsamus. Spooked, Balsamus retaliates by absorbing sunlight and stretching towards the sky, the added height boosting his attacking prowess.

Boltair is wisely cautious of the new, strong, Embirch, and keeps his distance while manipulating air currents so as to create a blast of wind at Balsamus. The furious breeze strikes true, and knocks the Embirch dangerously close to the toxic puddle on the ground. However, he is able to close the distance and strike a weak blow by boosting his speed like a rocket, and has some momentum to spare!

Able to abuse this, Balsamus charges forwards at the Emonga and shoots out a ring of fire (which will redoubtably burn, burn, burn him in a burning ring of fire) but the speedy Emonga uses some fancy acrobatics to flip up into the air, and shakes off the seeds the Embirch had placed on him.

Objection! I used acrobat, Balsamus should have finished the round with a useless counter according to it's subs.

Aw, hell.

First, see if you can Leech Seed the Emonga (I'm not calling it Emolga. That's just stupid.). Even if you can't, Counter the Acrobat, then finish with a Fire Spin!

I agree, I nn'd my ig one Emonga. anyways :D

Boltair the Emonga, true to its nickname, starts off the round with a blast of air shot towards the Embirch, which Balsamus manages to take without flinching. Staggering from the force of the blow, he manages to close off the distance between the two, and implants seeds to steal nutrients from the electric flying squirrel's body.

However Boltair doesn't seem to give a damn about the seeds, and lunges towards the Emonga with a spin to maximize the blow. Balsamus simply stands still as the attack hits him, still as rock. And then...BAMBAMBAM! The Embirch releases a furious barrage of hits, having absorbed the attack and pushed back with double the force! If this were a gag manga, Emonga would have swirls for eyes and be covered with band-aids, as he staggers away and falls to the ground. Emonga has fainted!

That was certainly a high-intensity round! A well-timed Counter from mewtwo15026 suddenly shifted the momentum and put him in the lead!

Dogfish, your next Pokemon please.

42 damage from 1 Counter?

Yeah, I think you've misread a key segment of counter there. Namely, Original Power =/= Damage done.

Firstly, Acrobat has an ORIGINAL power of 11 in this situation (Uncumbered). You multiply that number (NOT TOTAL DAMAGE TO BALSAMUS) by 1.5, to get 16.5, which we'll assume is 17.

In effect, this leaves a base 17 power Fighting type attack (Counter is always a fighting type move) versus a part Flying type with a reasonable defense. I think you've overshot with 42 there...

Counter: The Pokemon prepares itself for a physical assault with a strong brownish-red aura. Damage from a physical attack that hits the aura is absorbed and released back at 1.5 times its original strength.

I'm not really quite sure what you're going on about. Counter is the damage taken x 1.5. But I did misread counter as 2x original strength.

For the record: STAB SE 11 power attack = 21 damage. 21 x 1.5 = 31.5. Rounding up we get 32 damage. So i'll fix that, thanks for pointing out I was wrong about Counter. However, I think you're misreading Counter.

No, you're misreading a quick line.

and released back at 1.5 times its original strength.

Original strength = Base Power. Original Strength =/= Damage taken.

Counter here no longer works like it does in game - Otherwise, a * ATK counter would do the same as a ****** ATK counter. Instead, it is simply a variable base power move of the fighting type, which only works after recieving a physical attack.

Counter doesn't use a base power. X is multiplied by 1.5, and that much damage is done. If it used a base power and ATK and DEF stats, Wobbuffet would be NU.

In all my other battles, Counter did Final Damage * 1.5.

I WILL agree, though, that 42 damage is a bit much. Especially for Balsamus's Energy.

Really? Because it never says final power in the description, it just says Original Power. This isn't ingame rules, this is ASB rules, and therefore let me elabotare:

A modest abra (* Atk) somehow learns Counter. Likewise, an adamant Deoxys-A also learns counter (6 or 7 * ATK). If the Abra launched counter, it would naturally be weaker than the Deoxys-A counter no?

You're right, mewtwo, the 42 is wrong because i calced it as damage dealt * 2, not * 1.5, and i'm fixing that / adding in the extra damage from the air slash etc. Anyways I'm not gonna fix it until i ask dusk or wyvv, considering there's some dispute about this.
