DPP OU: creative and underrated sets

Standards:

what defines and underrated/ creative set?

1: runs a not commonly seen move/item/spread

2: is still viable and not limited to the Pokemon it wants to deal with

3: isn't strictly outclassed by another set/Pokemon

4: is able to surprise and ruin some Pokemon that normally counter the common sets

5: it takes advantage of current metagame

Examples:

Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 52 Atk / 252 SpA / 204 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Close Combat
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Slack Off

Infernape is probably one of the biggest threats of DPP OU, and one of the Pokemon on which it's hardest to switch on. However, because of hazards, Life Orb damages, Sandstorm and it low defenses, Infernape is really easy to wear down and can easily become useless if you miss your predictions. Thanks to Infernape offensive presence, you can easily heal it on a switch out, and then continue to threaten the opposing team.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Magma Storm
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power
- Explosion

Dark pulse aim is pretty simple: catch Latias and Starmie, which are both good heatran checks, on the switch. There isn't much more to say, except that it allows to hit Rotom without risking a Magma Storm miss.

When you post, think to explain what's your set aim and how it accomplishes it (that can be really short, as I did in the examples). Replays are also encouraged. In any case, please stay kind and respectful!

Here's two of my recents sets. I'm a bit lazy at the moment to explain them so I will be fast and will edit later.

Capture d’écran 2020-05-04 à 17.13.36.png

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 244 SpD / 12 Spe
Calm Nature
- Knock Off / Thunder Wave
- Copycat
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled

No need to present Clefable and what it does.
Copycat is an awesome move on it, you can Rapid Spin against Starmie, you can Spikes against Skarmory, you can copy boosts against others Clefable and many more possibilities. It will especially find its place in Hippo teams.

Capture d’écran 2020-05-04 à 17.19.28.png

Latias (F) @ Draco Plate
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sleep Talk
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Dragon Pulse

The reason of using Draco Plate is simple, you won't be blocked after using Sleep Talk one time and you can also lure the specs in some situations.

Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 236 Def / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Trick
- Sleep Talk
- Dragon Pulse / Surf / Thunderbolt / Psycho Shift

Modest Latias' power is a huge step up (65 - 77 vs. Scarftar as opposed to Timid's 59 - 70, great odds against Clefable, 41 minimum vs. max HP Jirachi), and it can get by with very little Speed (this investment outruns Adamant Dragonite), allowing it to run Defense that always lives Scarftar + sand, while having a great shot to live a second turn of sand as well. It also lives Machamp's Payback + Bullet Punch combination, which was useful since I like it as a lead. It's better played recklessly than relied on defensively; the defensive security helps get value out of it, value which is strengthened by the highly useful extra power. It has room for tweaked EVs; you can definitely shift some into HP, as long as you maintain the Scarftar benchmark, but I like to squeeze every percentage possible out of that scenario.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: whatever you prefer
Timid / Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Wish
- Toxic / Calm Mind

By supporting its teammates with Wish, Latias has more use than just its defensive utility (before it's ready to sweep with CM). The extra recovery PP is also very handy in longer games.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / whatever your preferred remaining EVs are
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Protect / Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Knock Off

I really like Wish. It's an amazing move on Clef that doesn't get the usage it deserves and its million benefits are self-explanatory. WishBoiled is generally a great combo but Protect is so good in general (healing out of range of an attack and preventing a CBTar trap, among many other things) that I tend to slightly prefer it.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / whatever you prefer
Timid / Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf / Hydro Pump
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Protect

Not only does this mess up Pursuit attempts from Choice Tar something awful, it's also excellent against Scarf Rotom - there's the extra sand chip of course but more importantly it prevents them from safely double switching out so as to avoid being Pursuited themselves.

Metagross @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- 3 of Pursuit / Stealth Rock / Meteor Mash / Explosion

EVs and moves can vary, but SpDef Meta is great. It's not just a worse Bronzong because higher HP, Attack and Defense makes it much better against Jirachi, Pursuit lets it really maul Latias, and of course the surprise factor lets you do great things like eat Heatran up. It's also not nearly as Dugtrio prone as Tyranitar. Stays in on defensive Starmie trying to spin easily and checks LO Gengar really well. Trick + Iron Ball can also be used. Basically, this takes a ton of pressure off Tyranitar, letting you make your offensive team more offensive since you don't necessarily have to run a resist berry - besides not needing Chople for Gar (who trucks most Tar bulky offense), Meta also relieves the need for Passho since it checks specially offensive waters.

Bronzong @ Lum Berry
Sassy Nature
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 224 Atk / 12 Def / 24 SpD
- Stealth Rock
- Payback
- Earthquake
- Explosion

EV-spreading isn't my area of expertise, so feel free to tweak the evs to what you see fit. I think when it comes to offensive Zong, having Payback over Gyro Ball really helps you vs a Starmie that's trying to spin because it puts a lot of offensive pressure on it. Usually you're otherwise forced to timely explode on a Surf / Hydro, or go to your spinblocker on the spin, and having Payback negates the need for that. It's also great vs something like Rotom. Lum is really nice to explode on Looms which is one of the biggest pains in the meta to deal with, especially the leech seed variant.

Tyranitar @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 32 HP / 224 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Taunt
- Low Kick

So I created this TTar set prior to SPL, and I think it would've been great in the pre-SPL meta, but with the rise in Impish Looms, its utility has reduced a bit. Anyways, I think this TTar is absolutely fantastic vs stall, and TR-oriented offenses. I've seen so many DD TTar / Gyarados get shut down when they set up vs a low health Jirachi / Clefable because of a paralysis, and Lum Berry helps in that regard a lot. Taunt is even better against something Clefable / Wisp Rotom because you get to potentially go to +2 attk and speed before they're forced to switch out. Taunt is great vs something like Haze Milo / WW Skarm / Reflect Lati. It's also nice vs a last minute TR Zong or DD'er that wants to set up. I think coverage wise, Crunch + Low Kick is the best option. The reason why I feel that it its utility may have gone down in the current meta is because of the rise in Impish Loom + Bulky Jirachis, so if you are using such a TTar, I think it's best if you can find a way to deal with those two menaces first. The 32 HP Evs help it live an EQ from Jolly Flygon after Rocks. If you guys are aware of a better coverage, please do tell.

Empoleon @ Sea Incense
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Drill Peck
- Aqua Jet

All credits go to Pkel SweeTforU for coming up with this set. The amount of potential sweeps this mon has nabbed still surprises me to this day. When I first learned of this set, I downplayed its viability, but after sweeping and being swept by this mon, I can definitely say it's one of the better mons in today's meta. It's one of those few mons that is capable of punishing a Specs lati + Physical Jirachi, and on offensive teams that lack an SD Luca check, this mon can serve as an effective one with Aqua Jet priority (provided you have enough def drops with CC).

some power techs to help the noobs along:

Metagross @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
Lots o' Attack
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Thunder Punch
- Explosion

non-lead SR meta. keeps rocks up in the face starmie while having a safe click post-fish vs skarm. leftovers is an important distinction for delegitimizing various chip sources such as surf, clef stoss, and wishtect rachi.

Celebi @ Meadow Plate
Ability: Natural Cure
Sweeper Spread
- Nasty Plot
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power Fire
- Earth Power

ohkos clefable at +2 while being a deceptively tough cover. meadow plate because he aspires to be arceus. you're welcome to tweak the coverage/recover but don't run dugtrio. (it doesn't sweep)

Flygon @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
Max Attack
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake

don't forget about this guy. threatens both offense and stall alike while requiring about zero support.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Explosion

Lefties Plume Explosion Heatran is a good mon overall. It lures things like gyarados/dragonite and is a cool bait for Clefable that thinks your last move should be roar or protect. Then, for example, a CM 3 attacks Cune will break with more ease.

Nidoqueen @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Point
Impish Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Super Fang

No need to explain what Nidoqueen does. This set, especially, keeps Clefable and Skarmory low for incoming abusers in the back while cheaping interesting ones like pert or zong.

Tyranitar (M) @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 32 Atk minimum make it very fast rest is whatever
Adamant Nature
- Superpower / Earthquake
- Crunch
- Aerial Ace
- Stealth Rock

Well, Breloom is annoying and you often can't switch rly well into it + sometimes you really want it gone. Most of them are slow so Ttar can get the jump on them in order not to let them use spore or KO it. Then, with that set Breloom is not gonna kill it with Mach Punch and you won't miss Fire Blast. Also, it allows Ttar not to run a -Defense nature which preserves his useful bulk to tank random EQs or even this Mach Punch especially. Not being -Def also allows Ttar to surprise some Infernape as well as being a solid Gengar check. Paired with mag is preferable

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 212 HP / 248 SpD / 48 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

I believe I originally seen this set used by BKC it can be very annoying to break for some teams, works best alongside Toxic Spikes and Spikes Heatran really likes having rest for the extra longevity.

1588792344724.png

Lucario @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch

Should be used in the lead slot, rather then Lucario doing the cleaning this set aims to punch a hole in the opposing team for your other members to clean up. (this is more for fun don't use it too seriously expecting results)

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

Gengar is a great example of a Pokemon often dealt with via clever counterplay rather than with very solid checks, safe switch-ins, etc. As such, pivoting into Pokemon like Scarf Rotom/Lati on a Focus Blast or switching around to reduce a Life Orb set's PP is often seen. Gengar can use Knock Off to its advantage here, finding many safe opportunities to click it and often it'll knock off a Rotom/Lati's Choice Scarf to enable something like an Empoleon sweep or it'll combine well with Will-O-Wisp to wear down Jirachi, Swampert, etc way faster. It's also awesome vs Clefable.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Protect
- Explosion

This specially defensive Heatran set combines the ability to play offense and defense quite nicely. Lava Plume is a fantastic move to use offensively as it currently has very few reliable switch-ins given how devastating burn is right now. Toxic + Protect is a great way to shut down many specially offensive Pokemon by spreading status everywhere and gaining its health back at the same time. Explosion can nab a surprise OHKO on Clefable, Latias, or even Dragon Dance Gyarados/Dragonite and compensates for the potential passivity of this set.

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
Modest Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Metal Sound/Protect
- Refresh

Magnezone surprisingly has a lot of versatile tools it can run, and Metal Sound is one that is very often overlooked. Its 64 PP means that it actually works really well vs stall and is a very good Calm Mind Clefable check. Refresh is great to compensate for Will-O-Wisp Rotom weaknesses, and the combination of Metal Sound and Refresh beats RestTalk Rotom and SubWisp Rotom very reliably. Refresh also has the added benefit of potentially curing a paralysis or burn from Jirachi. I'd definitely recommend a mix of HP, SpA, SpD, and Speed EVs when using this set though.

Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Calm Mind
- Surf

Modest CroCune (with a ton of SpA EVs) is fantastic right now. Although it should be run with Pokemon that do decently versus Swampert, Flygon, Metagross, etc, it's way nastier against a lot of the defensive cores we're currently seeing. It's way better vs CM Clef and even can serve as a nice backup vs Swords Dance Scizor. The extra SpA makes a huge difference when considering Pokemon like Gyarados/Dragonite attempting to take advantage of your lack of Ice Beam/HP Electric, as you can often put them in range for priority or more reliable revenge killing without being put in a super awkward position.

Metagross @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Explosion

Metagross is often overlooked in defensive teams these days. Even with both Gliscor and Milotic, Metagross can still be a pain to account for. This set should use a lot of HP with maximized Attack, with however much Speed you want. Leftovers means WishTect Jirachi cannot wear it down, and Protect maximizing Metagross's passive recovery gives it surprisingly a ton of longevity. Definitely combine this set with Magnezone and as a bonus, Toxic Spikes support makes this set unbelievably oppressive. The main flaw with this set is that it is very difficult to build around it, but otherwise it's awesome.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Protect
- Leech Seed
- Facade

Many teams, both offensive and defensive, can find themselves struggling against Careful Bulk Up + Protect Breloom. Very BW-esque with using Protect against Latias's Draco Meteor, which many offensive teams may have to resort to in order to break this Breloom. Bulk Up giving Breloom more Defense means that this set can do phenomenally vs offensive Swampert and Jirachi. The massive Special Defense investment also means it's not a terrible water resist, still maintaining a lot of HP to switch into Swampert as long as you don't stumble into an Ice Punch. Leech Seed enables it to force RestTalk Rotom and potentially even Gengar out and makes it that much more difficult to switch into. Facade is the coverage move of choice to hit most Pokemon for tons of damage, in particular Zapdos, Dragonite, and Gyarados. It goes without saying to pair this with Magnezone and a nice Gengar check.

Hi, i also do want to share one of my most succesfull lead sets ive used during these years

Well, i'm gonna start from my favorite pokemon: Gallade.
I've used Gallade a lot during these years; i really love how this mon gave a great MU against a great number of teams

beware of coco (Gallade) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Trick
- Will-O-Wisp
- Zen Headbutt
- Close Combat

(LEAD)
By the way the most used gallade i tried these years
Some of you may think "do not you think Uxie is better?"
Well, to be honest Uxie and Gallade have a different role; it's only about what you need.
This can works against stall but offense team as well! Tricking an hippodown/skarmory/gliscor as well as burning jirachi/gliscor/gyarados benefit your incoming psychally sweepers. i often used it with spikes + lucario + dragonite.

blade CoCo (Gallade) (M) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Destiny Bond / Ice Punch
- Will-O-Wisp / Ice Punch
- Zen Headbutt

(LEAD)

An other variant of the previous gallade lead.
The role is the same; destiny bond is an insane move which works very good against stall/defensive team( destiny bond + wow spam + close combat)
Also the thanks his huge specially defensive he can take pump from offensive mie (after a close combat drop too!), sball from scarf rotom.
It works good with psychally sweeper or if you do not want use this set like lead hazards are highly recommended!
Ice punch if you want to hit latias / dragonite / gliscor

blue CoCo (Kingdra) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Icy Wind
- Draco Meteor
- Rain Dance / Hidden Power Electric / Signal Beam / Ice Beam

(LEAD)

Excellent dual STABs, great defensive typing, kingdra impressed me for the MU he gave me in lots of matches. Icy wind helps to outspeed every mon not scarfed and hit hards with the STABs.
Dmeteor, Icy wind Pump 2hkoes most of the offensive common lead(only empo is 3hked by hp eletric); lum berry provided for status(most common machamp lead and roserade).
The last slot is up to you: signal beam helps against Starmie, Celebi, HP eletric complete the coverage by hitting Starmie/Empoleon/Tentacruel, Ice beam helps you against Dragonite and grass in general, but ive never seen someone staying in with dragonite at r1 against my Dra.

Well, ill update my post with other sets i made asap!

Thanks for reading me and sorry for my poor english :/

The Jirachi Counter. With these EVs and Protect Jirachi (252 Atk-EVs + neutral nature) needs 5 flinches to beat Clefable (that's a ~7% chance). You either force it out, or make it waste all the Iron Head PP.

I mean, the idea is pretty cool, but why would you use skarm at all when its only purpose is to torment tran/zapdos. You cant even hit them back and since the set doesnt even run spikes, you cant really take advantage of them not being able to hit you effectively. it would be better to just run another mon instead of skarm, this feels like a totally wasted moveslot and its way too niche and it outright loses to sub, steeltypes or taunt

I love this theme because Dpp always seemed fun to play and balanced. In addition to being able to learn new things. For my part, I will contribute a little here with some creative sets that I hope will also be effective.

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Substitute / Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

I tried this set of Gengar for a while and it's great if you want to disable things like Bliss / Hippo. You don't lose recovery method with Left and they lose every turn with BSludge. It can fit well into balanced teams with Pert / Skarm is an interesting core. Sub is a good option to protect yourself from Scarf ttar but WoW is also viable for steels like Jirachi.

Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
Modest Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power Ground
- Sleep Talk

Yanmega has a great offensive double type and incredible ability. Modest specs with Tinted Lens do a lot of damage to Gliscor with Bugbuzz since not being very effective increases the damage. Another example is Flygon. A good support is MixPert or Starmie so that Yanmega does not suffer from SRocks and can last longer. Sleep Talk is basically to absorb Spore from Breloom /SleepP Roserade or Smeargle even and keep hitting. HP Ground for Tran.

Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Refresh / Safeguard
- Recover

Latias gives a lot of play to the goal. It has many resistances but also common weaknesses and threats. This set can go well with the classic Zone + Dug. This way without those pesky Scizor / Jirachi or Ttar it's easier for Latias. Refresh is a great support to cure me of status like Toxic or WoW. Safeguard is very similar except that here it is more intuition, you have to predict and it is somewhat risky. It also protects you from BSlam Jirachi.

Rose is really underwhelming vs Breloom but by using this set you kind of get to toss it in once or twice, while still getting some use out of it. You get to set up the hazards that you want and don't have to play games around Natural Cure and them sporing on your switch-out. I've used HP Fire + Sludge Bomb coverage, as well as simply one attack and dual hazards. It's fairly adaptable and enables you to not give way too free turns away via broken ass sleep.

Too lazy to ev or import this but this is a set I never see but is really effective at bluffing either pure physical DD and nailing a skarm for Ohko or bluffing mixnite and setting up and sweeping. You can play tons of mind games with this set. I would EV to Ohko physical skarms. Rest in attack and enough speed to hit around 248-249 to outspeed starmies after DD. Has a ton of breaking power obviously. But the mind games you can play with it truly make it stand out as different.

So something like 212 Atk / 112 SpA / 184 Spe with a Naughty Nature? 184 EVs with a neutral nature puts it at 242 Speed, or 363 at +1, enough to outrun Timid Starmie (361). As for the Sp. Attack...

112 SpA Life Orb Dragonite Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 334-394 (100 - 117.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Sure but creeping more speed beats out a lot more things. Like 244 and up beats ddtar for one.

:mamoswine:
Mamoswine @ Leftovers
Ability: Oblivious
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
- Substitute

I always feel like Mamo is on the cusp of viability in DPP but every time I tried using it, I had poor results - it lacks strong ice STAB needed to break mons like RestTalk Rotom, Hippo, and Zapdos and is prone to being Life Orb stalled when you need it most (against stall or dragmag). I created this set to fix those problems, drawing inspiration from the successful Substitute variants seen frequently in BW OU. Mamoswine easily forces switches and can find a free turn to set up a sub. From there, it can nab kills against frailer mons or punishes bulky switch-ins with Knock Off. Knock Off also enables Lefties Mamo to have some serious breaking power in sand, especially supporting other sweepers - fat Pert/Zong are terrible sponges once knocked, Milo is 2HKO'd by EQ after SR + 1 turn of sand, CroCune struggles to avoid 3HKOs, etc, etc. Sub really eases prediction with using Mamo and can really do damage on predicted sacs; it also can chip things down in conjunction with sand/tspikes/burn (after Knock) and protects from Rotom wisp. Adamant Shard still does what you need it to do, pressuring 4x weak mons and revenging weakened Latias / scarfers / sweepers.

I go back and forth on EVs for this set all the time. Max or near-max attack and Adamant are needed so shard still hits hard enough and Mamo can easily 2HKO fatter things with chip. Speed is nice for getting the jump on defensive Jira, Tran, and offensive TTar, among other things, but HP is nice for 101 subs to generate extra advantage vs Clef or Bliss. Speaking of Clef, Mamo is a pretty safe switch-in for offensive squads - immune to t-wave, doesn't hate being knocked, higher than average HP stat, 2HKOs back. Pair this set with Mag (obviously) and probably TTar for sand/pursuit. T-Spikes might be cool too but that seems like a tough build to make work.

NOTE: Since Shard and Knock are high PP moves, this Mamo has the same amount of PP as RestTalk Rotom (both have 112), accounting for Rest turns without using Sleep Talk. While you can't really kill it, it also can't kill you if you're behind a sub - certainly better than the equivalent situation with Support Clef vs Rotom.

:dugtrio:
Dugtrio @ Choice Band
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Aerial Ace
- Screech

This has been my standard 4th slot on Dug for years now (shoutouts Rui for the innovation in 2016) and I'm sure most people hip to DPP have known about it for ages. That said, it's still really cool. Lets Dug trap all support Clef, regardless of spread - if they Knock, you Screech afterwards and kill or they die to CB EQ. It also gives fat squads another out vs rando setup mons like CMCune while still performing your standard Dug duties.

:celebi:
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
- Grass Knot / Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Hidden Power [Ice] / Psychic
- Heal Block
- Recover

Another Rui set (I think). Shuts down Clef, Zap, Bliss, Skarm, and SpD Rachi looking to come in and sit on your Celebi. Interesting option, I definitely like it because it gives Bi use against Clef squads - functions similarly to bada's NP sets above just you can run whatever you want in terms of EVs and item. Set can be tailored to team needs or to work best with your trapper of choice.

:infernape:
Infernape @ Leftovers
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Mild Nature
- Close Combat
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice] / U-Turn / Mach Punch

It's MixApe that doesn't die to chip. Same concept as the Slack Off version in the OP but this one doesn't lose coverage or have to waste turns to stay alive. +SpA nature gives that much-needed power boost to 2HKO Hippo, Nidoqueen, Milotic, Zapdos, etc that Lefties MixApe would usually miss. Pretty neat imo although missing out vs +Spe Jira is a bummer - thankfully that's on the rarer side these days.

Shaymin @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
Timid Nature
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power Ice / Fire
- Healing Wish

Shaymin is a balanced base mon. It is similar to Celebi in terms of sets but with some differences. SFlare is his quintessential attack with drop probability. EP is a good option for Tran for example and HP Ice allows me to eliminate dragons / gliscor. Scarf HWish with speed control is a good user and support to give relief to a partner. The ideal is the classic FWG core like Heatran itself or Cune / Gyara.

Tyranitar @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch

Tyranitar is a very complete mon. Maybe this plugin is a bit crazy or unusual but it is effective vs CB Scizor with BP, you fit it well with Babiri's support and you finish with FPunch. This is something that can also go well vs Zong. EQ as best response to other steels like Empo / Jirachi.

Latias @ Flame Orb
Ability: Levitate
Timid Nature
- Dragon Pulse
- Trick
- Thunder Wave / Surf
- Recover

This set of Latias must be used from the beginning to be effective. It really is not a bad lead as long as you start with an advantage. You can surprise vs. Champ or Metagross and burn them. You can also pretend to be specs without even showing what you're wearing. Surf is not a bad option to hit Heatran but TWave is great for threats like Jirachi or Rotom.

Infernape @ Passho Berry
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast / Vacuum Wave
- Grass Knot

Basically it's the same Nape NP set but with an added plugin to surprise threats like Starmie or Cune thanks to Passho Berry. This can surprise and end a problem that with another combination would be impossible. I would like to add some calculations that may be interesting.
+2 252 SpA Infernape Grass Knot (80 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Starmie: 340-402 (104.9 - 124%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Infernape Grass Knot (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Suicune: 330-390 (96.7 - 114.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Protect / Substitute
- Fire Punch
- Toxic

This set is really good at crippling shit that thinks it’s a free switchin to normal slam jirachis. Runs enough speed for max speed gliscor. Swampert, zapdos, hippo, gliscor all take toxic and get protect or sub stalled quite nicely, not to mention the flinches for extra chip and toxic damage. Obviously heatran walls this completely and doesn’t even risk para so dugtrio can be a good partner or just having enough counterplay to heatran. Fire punch to still be a good lucario / scizor check. And just hitting stuff like zong and metagross. You could run more bulk if you want or less speed since most gliscor aren’t max speed.

Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 20 HP / 252 Atk / 232 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute / Refresh / Toxic
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Sub swampert is so nice for being able to get multiple kills or subbing down to torrent range. Blocks status attempts from slow rotom as well. Really good for when you’re expecting a sack so you get a free sub and can nab another kill. Also eases prediction vs stuff like loom and Lati switchins. Toxic is really nice for milotic. And refresh can be really good vs t spike builds which rely on swampert being poisoned usually. Or if you happen to get burnt switching into a heatran lava plume. Overall swampert is a monster and no wonder I have near 50% usage with it

Edit: crediting myself for posting them, sorry if you were late to the party to post

Lucario @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Copycat

Inspired by McMeghan's ORAS team used in Smogon Tour Finals vs ABR, I wanted to see if his Copycat Clefable concept could be applied in any way to DPP. Copycat turned out to be an incredible filler option on Choice Scarf Lucario, which further suits it due to great flexibility available in its moveslot. The main way I liked to use this set is with Choice Band Azelf lead, with which you use Explosion turn 1 and follow it up by sending Lucario in. Lucario can then use Copycat to copy a powerful Explosion capable of OHKOing the likes of Gliscor and Hippowdon, among many other targets. Since Lucario is such a polarizing Pokemon, a foe like Starmie (decent followup to try to prevent Stealth Rock) won't be inclined to switch out under normal circumstances, which can enable you to nab the KO with Explosion and use that to support Pokemon like Infernape and Empoleon.

Copycat has a large number of uses outside of this, many of which are situational but some can be great. It can also copy U-turn, Taunt, Will-O-Wisp, Stealth Rock, and Rapid Spin (upon many others of course, I'm probably forgetting some good examples). One of the funniest uses, for example, is if a Pokemon like Zapdos uses Roar and drags you in, you can spam Copycat 30+ times and continue to phaze Pokemon out which should nearly guarantee a confirm on the Roar Zapdos and singlehandedly flip the tide versus a more defensive build. This is especially effective since those builds often don't have something to outspeed Lucario or use priority, and they also have naturally good matchups vs Lucario-oriented teams. Protect is possible of course, but this can still get out of hand and deal major damage, especially with hazards up. You can customize the non-Close Combat moves with other options like Crunch, Blaze Kick, and Stone Edge to accommodate a team's needs, and Jolly nature is possible too of course. However, the power from Adamant is extremely important imo.

Here's a replay of Copycat in action:

First of all, thank you for all your answers! DPP community is probably one of the most active old gen based community, and it's always a pleasure for me to contribute. Now, here are two sets which I personnaly find relevant:

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 240 SpA / 56 SpD / 212 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Psych Up
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute
- Hidden Power [Fire]

A month earlier, I already mentioned the idea of this set with some friends, but it looks like I wasn't the only one. The aim of the set is to provide an answer to the super threatening Calm Mind Clefable. Thanks to Psych Up, you can copy the boost and so wall it while threatening it with a boosted thunderbolt. Thanks to this spread, Magnezone optimizes his chance of 2HKO Clefable while ensuring Clefable has very low chances of breaking your sub:

4 SpA Clefable Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 56 SpD Magnezone: 31-36 (11 - 12.8%) -- 12.9% chance to 2HKO
240+ SpA Magnezone Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Clefable: 186-219 (47.2 - 55.5%) -- 17.6% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Obviously, Subsitute prevents you from being frozen/ paralysed / destroyed by a crit and gives you a free move after the death of clefable. Thanks to the speed invstement, you can outspeed Crocune and copy his boosts too. Mimic is an option too, but I personnaly prefer Psych Up.

Empoleon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Surf

Thanks to the Choice Specs, Empoleon is able to threaten 99 percent of the metagame with an awesome coverage and a destructive Hydro Pump, especially if Torrent is activated:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Torrent Empoleon Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Blissey: 334-394 (46.7 - 55.1%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Torrent Empoleon Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 334-394 (84.7 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Empoleon Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 223-264 (56.5 - 67%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Even if Empoleon is slow, his good defensive type combined with a great bulk make it easy to bring agains't Jirachi, Ttar, Latias, Starmie or even Swampert and Rotom with a good prediction. This mon definitely and underrated threat wich can destroy teams if u aren't prepared to it.

Clefable @ Sticky Barb
Ability: Magic Guard
Careful Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Trick
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled

Clefable is a great mon that has a good defense and above all a great special defense. It has good bulk. It also has a great ability with which you can abuse this strategy without fear. Sticky Barb +Trick is little expected. You can benefit by disabling the opponent and pressing each turn with recoil + Seismic. TWave is an option for fast mons or DD users. This set can be a great support for offensive things like Loom or Metagross that can go well here.

Bronzong @ Iron Ball
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Trick
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Explosion

It is true that at first glance it can be risky because it loses the ability and becomes vulnerable to Ground spam but that is not usually expected and once you do Trick you benefit. The idea is to fit in things like Rotom, Skarm and be able to hit with EQ. There is more variety with other supporting things like CB + Trick but I think this version is useful and also creative. Heatran is a great companion for absorbing Zong's fire weakness. Nite and Waters like Gyara to better fit Nape are interesting.
