I think Molt needs Roost tbh, maybe replace Air Slash for Roost to keep Molt alive.Moltres has a great typing for DPP OU in my opinion, with only one thing holding it down. Stealth Rock of course. Being in the lead makes it switch in at least once at full health. Anyway, I tried going for some kinda of anti-lead set because it's hard to keep rocks off even if you have a spinner. This is the set I went with:
Moltres @ Lum Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- U-turn
- Air Slash
Quite simple. I tried Will-O-Wisp on this set before U-Turn but I nevber really benefited from it, so I decided to change it to U-Turn which seems a bit dumb on a x4 SR weak Pokemon but it's great for the Starmie/Latias/Tyranitar switch in and a good pivot in general.

Breloom and Starmie felt like natural partners because they cover Moltres's weakness and support it well. Due to the offensive type of the set, Moltres usually dies early, so spinning isn't necessary at all. There has been a number of situations where I had to spin for Moltres to clean late game though, so it is a great option to have available.

I was actually using this team last week so it wasn't entireyly new. The last 3 slots kept changing except for Jirachi. It used to be a CM Jirachi before, but after many changes in these slots I ended up going with a SR set instead. I've considered making him more speicially defensive for longevity but I haven't done that yet. Despite having 2 water resists, I'm weak to every water type because I'm using offensive sets on both of them, so I decided to try out Curse Quagsire in the last slot mainly for water types and a late game wincon. It has worked really well. Without Rotom I lose SR easily, which slows down the pace of this team a lot. It also helps vs. the Azelf lead matchup. A good anti-spinner and a good Pokemon in general.
Didn't have a ton of games where Moltres was the star due to being mainly a lead, but here are some highlights:
vs 1200s:

Moltres did really well early in the game. Managed to break's Azelf Sash on the first turn and getting away, and then with some key predicts it managed to give me a nice advantage. While sacrifcing it at the end I managed to gifre out that Raikou had HP Ice and not Grass, which made it easy for Quagsire to come in and sweep late game, but luck had another opinion.
vs 1400s:

Moltres applied some good pressure early in the game and managed to switch into Breloom a few times thanks to Lum Berry. At the endgame, a late Rapin Spin helped it to take down a pesky Jirachi.

Moltres didn't do much this game aside from two key turns. Turn one when it used U-Turn to break Focus Sash and late game when it came into an Agility Metagross to tank a hit and take it out with Fire Blast. This shows how good it is into Steel Types thanks to its typing.
I think the main weaknesses of the team are a well played SD Lucario and DD Dragonite in general, but it's still winnable if you position yourself correctly.
You are right, although it's too late to change it now with teams already submitted. It's meant to be a free pick even even competition, and constrained to the top 30 of the VR every odd one. It looks like I made a mistake a while ago that flipped it, and it has flipped back now.wasnt last week heracross, which was free pick and not top 25?
love the team, didn't even know dnite had roar^^ https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen4ou-2259661603-5jszgo9bqtynrcuco14qlvisr81443dpw![]()

Lead Moltres + SpD Roar nite
Ye, I may have been a bit inspired by the famous Excal team, but with several differences (mons, sets).
I wanted something consistent and that they would cover well (especially Moltres). By the way, I find it an interesting mon. Aside from being a good counter to Scizor, Lucario, loom.... it's also a good answer vs pert or Hippo with WoW threat. HP Cround is very good cover for Heatran. As for EV's they are very similar, only the defenses change. The 28 that were left over I preferred to invest it there, in SpD.
I was thinking of a second spinner (Tentacruel/Donphan) but Quagsire covers Moltres very well. In addition, I also gain 'immunity' to water, fire resistance and steel. This time, it's more physical defensive than special, as I wanted to find a balance. Anyway, this way it fits better the hits of common Moltres threats like DD nite or Gyara.
Here my only hope to keep my lead alive by eliminating those pesky rocks. Forretress may not be a very versatile pokemon or have many more options, but I feel it fits well here. Payback is the big threat to Gengar, Rotom or press Starmie.
What a headache with the nite set. First time using it bulky DD. But I insist, I still have doubts between Roar, Safeguard or HBell and add Knock Off in fable. I think I'll leave it at that for now. I don't know if Flygon (not Scarf) can be a threat, but that's what the 96 EV's in speed are for. In fact, the 48 in defense is to fit Scarf Outrage. The rest goes to special defense, where IBeam fits several passive things (Tank pert, Nest, fable). It can also hold DM of Latias Scarf, although it does not seem very reliable.
I seem to be growing fond of Bronzong. He is becoming indispensable lmao. Well, my other steel and SR user. He has a lot of resistances and immunities that come in handy to the team. It can act almost as a mixed wall, although I thought it was a better option to make it +Def for those physical threats. Also, I see it making more sense with the Toxic + Protect combo.
We finish with fable, of course. My last special defensive wall. I will be brief, since there is not much more to add. I thought Sticky Barb + Trick was a good idea considering SR + Spikes. That's why the 248 in HP and SpD, for Heatran Magma Storm 3ohko(Rip Leftovers). 12 EV's remaining in def because that's what was left over, apart from being able to withstand SPower from ttar Scarf.
I hope there is no problem and this time I can please everyone lmao.
I'm glad you like it. By the way, good fight vs a team not easy to fit (paraspam). I see you have the same problem as me with WoW on Moltres lmao.love the team, didn't even know dnite had roar^^ https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen4ou-2259661603-5jszgo9bqtynrcuco14qlvisr81443dpw
Happy Secret Santa LMAO. I am very glad, thank you. Although I'm still not convinced.... There are things like SD Scizor or Lucario that scare me, and I think I rely too much on Moltres himself. They can be taken advantage of vs Forretress / zong. But hey, there is no such thing as the perfect team.voting for jeong, love the team it's like it was made for me
