Depends on the metagame, old tiers like DPP tend to adopt much more specific rules compared to current generation policies. You won't see SV ban Ivy Cudgel on Ogerpon-W. By comparison, ADV banned Baton Pass on Smeargle at one point iirc.

I have an interesting idea for a thread that can help stimulate interesting conversation in the community:
If you could live in the Pokemon universe, what type of lifestyle would you live?
Like you can choose anything, meaning you don't have to take the traditional trainer-scouting-for-badges route, you can choose to be like a ranger, nurse, or even part of Team Rocket. Like you can choose what you want, then get detailed.
Can this thread be proposed somewhere?

Generations III and IV
I think I need clarification about Recycle. I will comment in green on the parts that confuse me from this description from Bublapedia:Recycle cannot recover items that were knocked off by Knock Off. (In these generations, knocked-off items remain visible on the summary screen and are restored at the end of the battle.) If a Pokémon has a knocked off item and uses Recycle, it can successfully recover a consumed item (but not the knocked off item), so an item consumed by a teammate? but how this functions varies between generations.
- In Generation IV, if a Pokémon with a knocked-off item uses Recycle, it recovers the consumed item as its current held item, but it is still listed as holding its knocked-off item on its summary screen.At the end of the battle, its knocked-off item is restored (regardless of what its held item was at the end of the battle).
- If a Pokémon replaces its knocked-off item in this way (which way?), it can use that held item, but Trick and Switcheroo fail if used by or targeting that Pokémon, and its held item cannot be stolen by Thief or Covet (nor can it steal items by using those moves). Bug Bite, Pluck, and Fling all function normally with the recovered item, however.
It is not very good. It has seen play on some stall teams, but most of the time you are better off running another supporting move like Thunder Wave.
