DSi. What do you think?

Flashcarts have also been made obsolete, and the SD card slot is there to probably detect ROMs. This is a good way to stop piracy Nintendo
Not really
Just wait for some developers to spread an hacked firmware, with it Nintedo will destroy the flash cards market, since you will need just the NDSi for playing your game :naughty: CUNNING Nintendo...

Btw I agree that if you there isn't any real reason to buy the NDSi, if you have already a NDS lite, specially if you have flash cards.
The only new interesting feature, is the improved internet connection... but will nintendo start to offer a NEW, SPECIFIC, and COOL service, to a restric number of custumer, while something like 60 milions of old user won't benefic from it? I bet it won't be anything really special for the NDS.... (and Flash cards user can do all this already, so, here we go again to the previous point: Destroy the flashcard market once and for all now that the NDS is THE Portable Sistem)
And, why this service starts near to the end of this Console Generation???
I think nintendo is just testing the custumers response to an improved Console for the next gen, while picking up as much money as possible...
SMART Nintendo...

Eh, even though it isn't much of an improvement I will probably be buying a DSi...It's not like I will be ditching my DS-Lite when the DSi comes out. It will also be interesting to see some of the Apps. that Nintendo will be making for the DSi.

Also, to people saying that flashcards are obsolete...take a look around.

Im pretty sure they will create some sort of GBA emulator so the missing GBA slot might not be such a problem
I wouldn't expect this. Flashcard users have been trying for years to emulate GBA games without using slot 2, and none of them have succeeded. Every single time the case has been that if you want to play GBA games, you need to have something in the GBA slot, be it a game cartridge or a flashcart.

What Nintendo could do is port GBA games to the DS format and offer them for download online, but this wouldn't be a GBA emulator any more than your GBA is functioning as a SNES emulator when it runs Final Fantasy VI. It might not be a bad option for people who don't have a very large GBA library, but I'm not too keen on the idea of paying for games that I already own.

*Sigh*

I'm going to say this once and only once: The DSi is by far, a Homebrew Developer's lost paradise thanks to the SD Card slot. (There is no need for Flash Carts now, just wait for the first exploit and bang)

Eh... lack of a GBA slot kills it for me. I have 2 DS lite's anyways (One of them has a floppy screen though lol). But even if I didn't have a ds I'd get lite over DSi, I want to migrate my old pokemon man lol.

Yep the GBA loss is bad for me but i might get one because my DS's top screan is floppy. But then I have 2 ds's and 180 is alot for what you allready have.

I need a new DS, but I ain't shelling out money for something that doesn't let me use my R4, or even Pal Park my Pokemon.

I have a DS Phat :(

I'll just wait for the lite version of nintendo's next handheld.

I have been thinking this ever since I heard the DSi was announced to have an SD Slot. I'm curious how long it will take for a hacked firmware(or whatever would be necessary to fool the protection)to pop up...

The real question is why would Nintendo do this knowing the fact that such an event is inevitable?

Not buying for obvious reasons:

- Price. $180 is too much. I'm still trying to sell my 360 so I can get a wii.
- Can't use microSD's over 2GB. I have the new R4 and am waiting on a price cut to get an 8GB microSD.
- No GBA. Further cuts on my piracy. Most nintendo games really aren't worth any money. I actually did pay for Diamond, even though, after playing, I don't even think it was worth it.
- I already have an M3 lite so I can use the DS Internet Browser.
- They make it sound like they're doing me a favor by giving me access to their store. Odds are they're just gonna load it up with classic games and expect me to pay for them recycling the same thing. They should at least give people games on their DS if they payed for it on their Wii.
- LOWER BATTERY LIFE? I had to buy a 2000mAh (double life) battery for my DS Lite, and now they want to cut it even more!

Honestly, I don't think I'm ever going to buy another Nintendo handheld until they can emulate PS1 and N64. I'd definitely pay $180 if it could do that instead of having a stupid camera and internet browser. Nintendo needs to embrace the homebrew community. Sure, we tend to pirate, but homebrew authors are the only reason the PSP is worth buying, and they still make some sort of profit. Combine the homebrew greatness of the PSP and the great Nintendo games library and innovation (as in touch screen, not a camera) and they could have a real winner. Even though people who use homebrew tend to pirate, it'll at least bump their handheld sales, and besides, there are enough people out there who will buy the games anyway. Even the PC gaming market is profitable, so Nintendo shouldn't be too worried about piracy.

If it's not worth your money then it's not worth your time. Don't play it. That's the most retarded justification for pirating I've seen.

What's so bad in lack of GBA slot? We all have atleast one GBA SP?!

Yeah, region lock hurts, cause most of my games are imported, but I see it working well in the next 2 years.... Nintendo will probably release it worldwide months after the japanese release!

Tip for everyone! Don't buy the japanese version of DSi if you don't live in Japan 'cause region lock will screw it up.

The Japanese launch happened in November. DSi won't be released in NA until April at the earliest. More likely late summer or most likely fall/winter 09. Europe... well Nintendo forgot they existed a long time ago. Don't even get me started on Australia and its surrounding countries.

I don't really think I'll be getting this. I have a working DS Lite, and the fact that this things lacks a GBA slot is really disappointing. I'm sure that the online store will be meh, and I don't really think you have to browse internet with this if you have a computer/laptop/mobile. Although it looks kinda cool, DS Lite is better IMO.

No, one flash card (Cyclo DS) has been updated to work with the DSi already, meaning others will follow. Looks like Nintendo tried, but they'll always be a step behind.

That is not true, there are multiple cards. (Acekard 2i, DSTTi, Ez-Flash Vi, R4i) Also, I do not believe that CycloDS is not being sold yet...(correct me if I'm wrong)
