Okay, so with my recent polls and Firestorm's new one, I thought it would be fitting to make one based on the handhelds. I figure this will be less biased, since all of them since the Game Boy were likely played by a majority of Members here on Smogon, so here it is. I have also added 2 consoles not made by Nintendo, since they were/are also popular.

Again, I really hope this is not overdoing it.

Those are handhelds, not Nintendo handhelds.
Also, I don't know why you keep doing checkboxes when radio buttons would be the correct way to do these polls. I mean, for a favourite you shouldn't have more than one.

The Nintendo DS is by far my favourite. Although my first handheld was the Game Boy and my favourite handheld game of all time is Pokemon Red, it's just hard to deny the amazing software lineup for the DS. It's got the best variety and highest overall quality of any handheld system to date. The funny thing is, we have Sony to thank for that. The Game Gear was hardly any competition and every handheld literally was no competition to the Game Boy line. The PSP has finally forced Nintendo to step it up on the handheld front.

The GBA was great too but for some reason I didn't get into it that much. Might be because it was really my brother's system so all I ever bought for it was Zelda (tMC/aLttP), Tales of Phantasia, Advance Wars, and last Christmas: Pokemon Fire Red. He got the Golden Sun series though.

Gameboy Colour - first handheld (or console) I owned, and it introduced me to Pokemon, Zelda and Mario. Hell, I still play Oracle of Ages/Seasons on it.

I chose Gameboy ADV mainly because of Golden Sun. Those games alone are worth it for me. There's also the first Castlevania game for the GBA (which I lost), Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, and then Four Swords / A Link to the Past (I actually beat the 4 Swords part). I also can't forget Metroid Fusion....

I did enjoy the Pokemon and Zelda games on the GB / GBC (I see no real difference between these) better than the ones on the ADV, but the ADV is when I was really into gaming and actually bought games frequently, so it wins for me.

I had to go with the original Gameboy. It was my first gaming experience ever and, even though I only had two games for it (tetris and Pokemon Gold), it is what got me into gaming.

I have fond memories of playing Gold version (and tetris) on it, and nothing beats the nostalgia. It doesn't help that I no longer have it and have no way to play my first (and probably favorite) game ever.

The DS has a nice line up of games too, but I can't play my old favorites on it...

I've had them all since the color, but I always thought the gameboy advance was the biggest step in handhelds. That, and I remember being so pissed the day I realized I was playing on outdated technology.

Voted DS due to Super Mario 64 DS, the remakes of the earlier FF series, Pokemon D/P, Mario Kart DS.

I was SO close to voting GBA due to Fire Emblem and Golden Sun series, the only 2 game series that I love more than WoW and Pokemon.

Where's the Gameboy Pocket?

I remember that was my first handheld, came in a Kirby's Block Ball bundle . . . good times. I also got my Blue Version and played on that, until some asshole at school stole my GBP with my Blue Version in it. A while later I got the Gameboy Color for my birthday, and I still remember thinking it was the greatest thing ever to be able to play in color, haha.

The game boy had lots of versions of it until the GBC was considered the real sequel to the original game boy.

I love the games on the Nintendo DS, but I grew up with the Gameboy Color. I am at a loss as to which one I should vote for.

Also why do you have non Nintendo handhelds such as the Sony PSP?

edit: I voted for both, but I accidentally clicked Gameboy instead of Gameboy Color. Can a mod fix this please?

I'm gonna go with what I have, GBASP, two of them. It was really not worth having two of them just to trade pokemon, would've gotten a micro. Heh.

If the DS could play GBC/GB games it would be perfect. Gameboys have been steadily improving throughout the years without exception.
