Talk to Nobie/SDShamshel. When we were down at JAA last summer, we obviously gamed it up and he showed us what he called "a good Bowser." Of course, a good Bowser always loses to an even average Roy/Marth/anyone else, really.

And Nerdling, I'm with you on that too. I really rather prefer the 64 version too.
 
I miss the levels more than anything else on 64 (Saffron City, Hyrule, and whatever the original Mario level was called were my favorites). Those levels were the shit and I kinda wondered why they didn't bring more of them back; I'd have killed to play on Saffron City in Melee.
 
I feel you Vagabond, all the new stages are cool but the old shit on Hyrule was the BEST. Saffron City with the Pokemon in the building always made me lol.
 
Nobody's mentioned Street Fighter Alpha 3. I think it's 10 years old now, and it's still the best damn 2D fighting game out there. Chun-Li is sickness.

I love Smash melee, but I'll never understand why they didn't just port all of the stages over from 64. With the wait they're givin us on brawl, I hope to God they've got the sense to port some of those classic stages. Anyone here have theories on how they're going to make the single wiimote controller work in this game? You can use the classic controller, the GC one, the nunchuk plus wiimote, or just the regular old wiimote, NES style.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 - any mix of Akuma, Captain Commando, Shuma Gorath, Wolverine (bone claws), Cammy, Venom, and Cable.

Super Smash Brothers 64 - I've yet to meet anyone who can beat me at this game in a best of 3. Sure I'll lose 1 game once in a blue moon, but no one can do it twice. I've got a 3.x second record for my fastest kill using Yoshi. I excell with Kirby, Pikachu, and Yoshi. No one ever expects a good Yoshi. Team my Yoshi up with a good Link and you're in hell. Bombs, eggs, and 'rangs errywhere. I fuck around with Link when I feel like being an annoying asshole.

Super Smash Brothers Melee - Ganondorf for life. With the exception of Mow and a few select others, I don't think anyone at Smogon could handle my Ganon. Granted, I still have to master l-canceling, but ffs, you don't take the hardest hitting character lightly.

SSB(M) and Soul Calibur are the only "recent" fighting games I like.

Can't wait for Brawl!

Mortal Kombat/MVC/MVC2/Street Fighter stuff as far as older games go.
 
I dont play fighting games too often because my brother gets pissed off when he loses. However we do play Melee every weekend when my cousin comes over and we have a blast. I did play SC3 too when it was first released and Im trying to get back into it since it was released in the Arcades.

Melee- Link, Captain Falcon, Dr. Mario

SC3- Voldo, Cervantes, Ivy
 
Well, I play basically the same fighting games as everyone else here, which is to say SSBM and SC 2/3. Samus/Nightmare usually :x
 
On SSBM, I play mainly as Mario, Peach or Falcon, Soul Calibur as Mitsurugi, Taki or Raphael and Tekken as either Eddie/Christie, Paul Phoenix and Law.
 
Soul Calibur1/2-Yoshimitsu, Xianghua, a lil Taki in 2, SC3 is too scrubby even for me

CvS2-C-Ken/Rolento/Sagat is my business team, a lil fooling around with K-Geese/Honda/Sagat and some Raiden when I know I can pull off flashy shit in arcades

MvC2-Dhalsim ground/Sent ground/Cyke AA (lol), Strider/Doom AA/Ken AA in casuals. other random assortments of top tiers

3S-Oro, Hugo, Ryu

SF2-Ken Ken Ken

TTT-Ling/Paul

T5-Ling, Steve and that new guy the Chinese scarface lol I forget his name no PS2 for Nikkels :(

VF4-Pai and Lau

SFA3-Aism Gief, Aism Ryu, Vism Sim against scrubs

anyone else noticed that teenage chinese girls are always a reliable character in fighters?

SC4 was announced earlier, and I'm kind of excited. Its for the PS3 and 360 so its a little bit more accessible than SC3's PS2 only release.

Super Smash Bros Melee is pretty good, but Super Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighter on Xbox360's arcade is pretty awesome. I love how everything on Xbox is online compatible.

Holy shit SC4? That's great news. I've been perfecting my Cervantes on SC2 for 4 years now. Jesus, Ivy's chest in that pic is scary.

Oh, I also play Samurai Shodown and Primal Rage on SNES.

Soul Calibur and KoF have a special place in my heart.

SC2: I mainly use Nightmare. It took time to master, but it was worth every second.

That's impressive. I never could play Nightmare without get clawed up close by something like Talim. You had to get him going on a roll to really damage things.

Just out of curiosity, did ANYONE here play Yunsung in SC2?
