There's plenty of time before this one becomes available.. So, I'd say if you're interested in the series start with fe: Blazing Sword ( The first English one available on the GBA ) . It'll give you a feel of the series and perhaps make you fall in love with it

The best ones to start with would really be any of them but Shadow Dragon, which is crazy difficult.

Shadow Dragon is only difficult if you're playing it on any of the hard modes, otherwise it only gets just as annoying as any other game as far as recruits go in levels.

for anyone who hasn't played a Fire Emblem game but is enticed by this 3DS release, I'd suggest playing FE7! one of the best stories, awesome characters and one of the longest games as far as chapters maybe? HHM at least. FE6 is my favorite hands down though, mostly because of the female characters with awesome classes (Female hero/druid) YEAH.

Blazing Sword IS fe7... I think you mean fe6 ( Sword of seals ) as the one being hard to get legally.

Sword of Seals (FE6, released before FE7 but chronologically comes after) is a great game, but it was never released in English. A translation patch does exist, though.
