Congrats to our Coder Scoopapa ! Not only has he put together our code, but he has earned his First Place finish for Re-introducing the Sunflower Pokemon in its rightful place... atop the podium in a Glorious Golden Medal finish.

Further his Regigigas doesn’t have to feel the Bronze... because both winnings push Scoopapa to a new title everyone! He has officially made it to the Mega Salamence Hall of Fame!

With now a whopping 4 Winning Slate Submissions, we see that his ideas are really taking off - no pun intended!

——————

After careful recommendation from SteelixPrismGX - the decision has been made to move voting and submission slates to just 4 days instead of 7, and that way we can move slates along at a faster pace.

Jamis361 Scoopapa and charizard8888 can add any thoughts on the matter.

I am declaring the Slate Break and Discussion that SteelixPrismGX mentioned has officially begun.

This, and future Slate Breaks and Discussions on Nerfs / Buffs will henceforth be known as Nominations, and has 2 stages:

Stage 1:

Enter your suggested changes in the following template:

Pokémon Nominated:
Original Slate #
:
Suggested Buffs: List as many as needed *Category - Proposed Change.
*Category 2 - Proposed Change
Suggested Nerfs:
*Category - Proposed Change
*Category 2 - Proposed Change
Reasoning: [Insert purpose of changes proposed. This can be short, but be clear on why you believe this will benefit the Pokémon and the metagame overall.]

*Categories include - Typing, Stat, Ability, Move, Signature Z-Move, Signature Item, and/or General New Item (If Introduced for any Pokémon to use like how my Room Key for +3 Turns on Room field effects was added).

These Nominations will last until 11:59 PM PST Sunday, so people have time to submit their ideas and so it fits in the newly updated 4 days max per slate phase (see the above post for a special note at the bottom).

Tip - *Basically, if there is good reason to Nominate the change, it’s explained well, and it benefits the metagame overall you will probably get enough votes to see it change.

Stage 2:

Once the Nominations close, we will have a Nominations Vote to decide which ones will be implemented, (we will increase beyond the 5 winners maximum - depending on how many voted Nominations we receive).

In keeping with the 4 day rule, this voting for the community’s most wanted Nominations will end on that Thursday at 11:59 pm PST.

TLDR: Submit your Nomination to change prior Winners from Slates 1-7 using this Nomination Template, you have until Sunday day 11:59 PM PST to submit.

Pokémon Nominated:
Original Slate #

Suggested Buffs: List as many as needed *Category - Proposed Change.

Suggested Nerfs:
*Category - Proposed Change
*Category 2 - Proposed Change
Reasoning: [Insert purpose of changes proposed. This can be short, but be clear on why you believe this will benefit the Pokémon and the metagame overall.]

P.S. If you want to actually discuss the other user’s change Nominations, please use Discord. We want to keep the thread focused on the nominations themselves.

If you feel someone is Nominating your Winning submission, and you disagree, bear in mind that they may have valid points, and try to be open minded.

Things may have changed since that Winner’s original slate finished, and we have to consider how all of the winners factor into Ubers as a tier.

Lastly: After these changes are voted on and the winners are declared - then we will edit the Spreadsheet. Updating it now up to Slate 7 would be unnecessary until we actually decide on the slate buffs/nerfs.

Pokémon Nominated: Farfetch'd
Original Slate #: 1
Suggested Nerfs:
*Abilities - Remove Aerilate
*Moves - Remove Extreme Speed
Reasoning: With its current stats, Farfetch'd can very easily pressure offensive teams due to its Aerilate Extreme Speed, to the point of being very problematic:
252+ Atk Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Necrozma-Ultra on a critical hit: 271-321 (80.8 - 95.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Necrozma-Ultra: 235-278 (70.1 - 82.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 168 Def Xerneas on a critical hit: 234-276 (59.5 - 70.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 168 Def Xerneas: 203-239 (51.6 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Lucario-Mega on a critical hit: 297-351 (105.6 - 124.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Lucario-Mega: 257-304 (91.4 - 108.1%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Yveltal on a critical hit: 309-364 (78.6 - 92.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Aerilate Farfetch'd Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Yveltal: 266-316 (67.6 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Removing Aerilate fixes this problem by allowing it to be outsped by speed-boosted mons, and Extreme Speed is removed as well just because it would never use it without Aerilate anyway.

Pokémon Nominated: Kecleon
Original Slate #: 1
Suggested Buffs:
*Stats - Atk -> 110
*Stats - SpA -> 110
Suggested Nerfs:
*Stats - SpD -> 100
Reasoning: While Kecleon was originally designed to be more of a tank, it ultimately wants to be a more offensive mon due to the nature of Protean. A slight buff to its attacking stats and nerf to its defensive stats helps it achieve this.

Pokémon Nominated: Persian
Original Slate #: 1
Suggested Nerfs:
*Ability - Replace Nine Lives with Scrappy
Suggested Buffs:
*Stats - SpA -> 129
*Moves - Add Flamethrower
Reasoning: Persian's Nine Lives seems like too much of a cheese option for offensive teams to abuse (i.e. healing their Eruption PDon for sweeping). In return, it gets a coverage move to hit Steel-types and a slight SpA buff to better establish itself as a Nasty Plot wallbreaker.
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Persian Hyper Voice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Yveltal: 386-456 (98.2 - 116%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Persian Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 333-395 (94.6 - 112.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Pokémon Nominated: Regice
Original Slate #: 1
Suggested Nerfs:
*Ability - Replace Heatproof with Clear Body
*Ability - Replace Everfrost with Ice Body
Suggested Buffs:
*Moves - Add Recover, Haze, Stealth Rock
Reasoning: At the moment, Regice does absolutely nothing because of its lack of recovery. When given some support moves, Regice becomes a niche, yet solid, check to special attackers like Lunala and CM Arceus formes. However, its passivity remains, its abilities are not that useful, and it can still be broken through by hard special attacks from the likes of Kyogre-Primal.

Pokémon Nominated: Swanna, Wailord
Original Slate #: 1
Suggested Nerfs:
*Ability - Replace Delta Stream with something else idk
Reasoning: We already have solid checks to PDon, straight counters are wholly unnecessary.

Beyond correcting Regice to Slate 5, this is a pretty good example of bringing up fair points to edit the Pokémon based on their individual roles and the metagame at large.

Oh dang I thought if it had recovery it'd be beyond OP... It was the exact opposite! I'll give it recover... And haze to not be set up bait...
Also where can this be played

I forgot to mention, if multiple people want to add Noms on the same Pokémon, that is completely allowed.

So, if you want to submit your own Nomination on Regice based on how you feel changing it would better suit it and the metagame, you can.

A Nomination gets votes like any Pokémon submission if people overall agree.

And like a Pokémon submission, multiple people can provide a Nomination on the same Pokémon, and whichever of the Pokémon submissions or Nominations gets the most votes will be the Winning verdict.

If anyone wishes to discuss the specific nominations posted here, feel free to discuss on Discord.

The only Noms not allowed are Noms for keeping the Pokémon just as they are, as that is already an option for people by simply not voting for any Noms on the Pokémon.

Edit- The server will likely be hosted on Spooktune’s server, we just await his updates.

Pokémon Nominated: Muk
Original Slate #: 1
Suggested Buffs:
*stats - HP >> 140
*stats - Def >> 110
*stats - SpD >> 125
*moves - add Toxic Spikes, Knock Off
*abilities - Replace Stench with Regenerator
Reasoning: Muk's stats aren't that great despite its access to reliable recovery - it's not that bulky and really easy to overwhelm. Its current stat spread simply doesn't let it check much. Increasing its special defense and HP would let it serve as a fantastic special wall, being able to wall stuff such as Xerneas, Primal Kyogre, and all offensive Arceus variants (except Ground), while its improved physical bulk lets it wall stuff such as Simisage and Mega Lucario. Adding Haze would allow it to check setup sweepers such as Extreme Killer Arceus, Geomancy Xerneas, and the notoriously dangerous Stallbreaker Bouffalant variants. Toxic Spikes, while not the best entry hazard out there, allows Muk to become a slow, albeit bulky defensive support pokemon, while Regenerator gives Muk free recovery on the go, even when Muk is facing something as dangerous as a boosted Bouffalant or Primal Groudon, meaning it can't use Slack Off without risking a potential KO or free setup opportunities. Despite this, it is still fairly passive, it has to choose between Regenerator and Unaware, and can still fold to strong physical hits such as Bouffalant's boosted Earthquake, Simisage's boosted Knock Off, or even strong special hits such as Primal Kyogre's Water Spout.

Pokémon Nominated: Huntail
Original Slate #: 1
Suggested Buffs:
*Typing - Change typing to Water / Dark.
*Stats - Atk >> 139
*Stats - Def >> 120
*Stats - SpD >> 90
*Stats - Spe >> 77
*Abilities - Replace Swift Swim with Air Lock
Suggested Nerfs:
*Abilities - Replace Protean with Adaptability
*Stats - HP >> 70
Reasoning: Huntail's stats are incredibly underwhelming. It's not that fast even after a boost from Shell Smash, it's actually really weak even when boosted, and its poor special bulk makes it hard to find setup opportunities. Huntail is obviously still quite slow before a Shell Smash boost, but it at least has good enough bulk to find an opportunity to set up SS and sweep, in exchange for losing Protean, which is replaced with Adaptability, which gives its STAB Crunches even more power behind them. Losing out on 15 points of HP also sucks, but then again, this doesn't affect Huntail too much. Yes, losing out on Ground STAB sucks, but that decent attack stat can still definitely put in some work.

+2 252+ Atk Adaptability Huntail Crunch vs. 144 HP / 0 Def Groudon: 302-356 (80.1 - 94.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

There might be other pokemon out there to buff or nerf, but they'll come later.

*moves - add Haze
already gets haze

being able to wall stuff such as Xerneas
252+ SpA Xerneas Thunder vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Muk: 96-113 (23.1 - 27.2%) -- possible 5HKO after Black Sludge recovery

and all offensive Arceus variants (except Ground)
4 SpA Dread Plate Arceus-Dark Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Muk: 109-130 (26.3 - 31.4%) -- 23% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252+ Atk Arceus Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Muk: 94-112 (22.7 - 27%) -- possible 5HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Arceus-Ghost Shadow Force vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Muk: 129-153 (31.1 - 36.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery

and Mega Lucario
252 Atk Adaptability Lucario-Mega Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Muk: 148-176 (35.7 - 42.5%) -- 93.9% chance to 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery
(yes, you have to use physical defense for it, but you can still wall xerneas and cm arceus, and also it is healthy for the meta to have a wall that can't wall everything)

Toxic Spikes, while not the best entry hazard out there, allows Muk to become a slow, albeit bulky defensive support pokemon
why tf does speed matter if it's an unaware wall
toxic spikes could be an option since it doesn't get many support options but i find it hard to justify over toxic

Regenerator gives Muk free recovery on the go, even when Muk is facing something as dangerous as a boosted Bouffalant or Primal Groudon, meaning it can't use Slack Off without risking a potential KO or free setup opportunities.
this is great and all but i made muk unaware to distinguish it from toxapex

Simisage's Knock Off
252 Atk Simisage Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Muk: 107-127 (25.8 - 30.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
(with original stats)

overall i think muk is fine statwise, you could add koff and tspikes ig

Just want to say... I won't be commenting until we make Pokemon. Because honestly, I am awful at explaining this kind of stuff.
I completely understand.

I would probably just focus on using examples from the Uber Tier - if you decide to go into detail later.

Just compare it to what you know is common, comparable, or an issue (for example maybe a lack of Fairy-types).

If you need further help, just ask for example “Guys, I know Groudon has some checks and counters, but what you think about XYZ?”

I encourage questions because I know people will be happy to answer.

———————

Also, I want to say I am really proud of this thread. We have come a long way since Slate 1! I can’t wait to see how this Pet Mod Re-shapes after we close Nominations at 11:59 PM PST Saturday.

I’ll start the voting phase on Sunday morning - and determine what to set as the max number of nominations, the self-vote will remain 1 per person.

there have been a total of two submissions why do you have to start voting so early
I count all Nominations as separate submissions.

So just like with Pokémon submissions, one person can submit multiple ideas, and they each count separately.

You alone have submitted more than 2 ideas, why say there are only 2?

Anyways, I do agree about Sunday being pushed, but I also have to consider if there are few nominations bc people want to return to the regular slates.

I’ll commit to making the Voting start on Monday morning, and end the Nomination slate on Sunday 11:59 PM PST.

This way people have the full weekend - but a lack of nominations could mean a lack of people thinking there needs to be much change beyond what was already Nominated.

Pokémon Nominated: Maractus
Original Slate #: 2
Suggested Buffs:
*Typing -
Grass / Ground (Adding Ground)
*Move - Shore Up, Toxic Spikes
*Ability - Grassy Terrain over Harvest
Suggested Nerfs:
*Stats - Atk ->
80 Atk
*Stats - SpA -> 90 SpA
Reasoning: Maractus has a nifty signature move that it now gains STAB off of, but has lost some Atk so it’s not overpowered, same goes for SpA for Earth Power.

Growth still enables it to sweep off either offense under Chlorophyll, while it can now better switch into Stealth Rocks.

Maractus has been given Shore Up because a Cactus should function well in the desert, and Sandstorms, just as Cacturne would. Since Maractus has bulk, I felt it can better adapt via a healing move, as there are few and far bulky relevant Grass types in Uber.

Now benefitting from 2 weathers, Maractus can handle more, while still having to pick its battles-
No longer resisting Water or Grass means it absolutely needs Storm Drain for Kyogre, and can’t take on other Grass types like it once could. Further, it has to be weary of 4x Effective Ice Beams.

Toxic Spikes fits well with the Spikes theme - still it does easily get absorbed by opposing Poisons on the rise (like Muk, Ariados, etc.) while not affecting Flying, or Steel-Types.

I replaced Harvest for Grassy Terrain because I felt Harvest was too situational with all of the weather changers, and because it would be less useful than its other abilities overall. Grassy Terrain provides it something pretty niche, that can support itself and it’s team without reliance on Sun support, especially as Grass moves are pretty well resisted and have drawbacks (recoil for Wood Hammer, Solar Beam charge turns, etc.)

I am officially ending the Nominations Stage now.

I will limit it to 4 votes since we have 8 Nominations, with 1 vote max for a self-entry.
Before we get to the votes, since Anaconja didn’t decide on a Swanna and Wailord replacement ability I’ll count my decision on what they should be as a final call on each one.

For Swanna I’ll give it the following Ability over Delta Stream: Early Bird.

For Wailord I’ll simply remove Delta Stream.

For Swanna I’ll give it the following Ability over Delta Stream: Mistique - Summons Mist for 8 turns; regardless of item.

For Wailord I’ll give it the following Ability over Delta Stream: Heal Lock - Uses Heal Block on the foe upon switch-in; like the move - it can be Bounced back to the user if the foe has Magic Bounce.
when i said remove delta stream i meant remove delta stream, not replace it with something else, deciding on abilities for me is dumb

mist ability is useless and heal block ability is uncompetitive, if you really, really require some replacement just use water veil or something

I agree with Anaconja here - Mist is useless because stat drops are relatively rare in Ubers, outside of Intimidate, but Lando-T sucks in Ubers. Heal Block just breaks Wailord more than it already is, and let's face it, this might just be even worse - you know what, I have nothing more to say than what Anaconja's already mentioned.

Steelix's Huntail
Anaconja's Persian

OM!'s Maractus
