nobody really did a winner discussion anyway so ima give my thoughts on the guys cuz I actually quite like this group

:wo-chien::camerupt: - only mon on this crew Im not huge on, Dark/Ground has quite a lot of common weaknesses, and the mon is somewhat passive, but sub seed sets could be solid and it’s Definetly bulky enough to make it work, plus the ability basically being filter helps with the issue of several weaknesses plaguing the mon. It’s alright.

:wo-chien::camerupt-mega: - this thing is immensely strong, great breaker, idt it’s broken but it’s Definetly quite good, especially on trick room, which btw this slate basically established tr as an archetype. But yeah this thing hits like a truck, is a little more vulnerable due to its lack of a defensive ability but a really powerful mega all things considered
:aromatisse::dragalge: - now if we wanna talk about trick room, this thing might be the best setter ever. Trick room, Flip Turn, and strong stabs, plus semi-healing with dkiss. That aside though it’s a really good spdef tank akin to a Primarina with adaptability. Great typing too, it also boosts muktaria’s viability by a good bit by shutting this mon down, but overall great mon with a lot of sets. I do wanna see some more experimentation with specs sets cuz they seem very strong with adapt moonblasts

:crawdaunt::garganacl: - this mon was shit on a bit at first but I do quite like it. It’s an offensive Garganacl, which is a strange combo but it works. Salt cure into aqua jet can finish off weakened foes well, it hits like a truck and can use salt cure to deter common switchins, has workable (but not great) bulk, the Mon is very customizable per team, and kinda just does what you want it to, which includes click the buttons. Status immune is quite nice too.

Overall very slow but very good slate with a lot of versatile mons that can fit on many team styles.
Also the slate was a HUGE win for :muk-alola: :altaria: only thing that can wisp craw, ignores adapt on both adapt mons, walls the hell out of aroma, and wo-rupt is there ig

Other than Rest, it has access to Coil strats as well as Iron Defense/Body Press if that's your kinda thing. Also it can set hazards and spread paralysis with Glare to provide some kind of speed control to the team.

Role Justification: I'm taking exactly one crack at this concept, to be clear. Tangeltales is an attempt to create a somewhat balanced sun setter that shouldn't cause OU too much collateral due to being pretty underwhelming in terms of OU power levels and a total lack of pivoting. It has a halfway usable support movepool with access to a smattering of status moves and Healing Wish, and even Calm Mind or Nasty Plot if you're so inclined, although its underwhelming bulk and middling Speed should prevent those sets from getting too out of hand.

(nerf scream corm btw that ability is fucking absurdly restrictive)

Role Justification: Despite its mid speed and awful physical bulk, Rampoopa makes up for it with sheer offensive presence (haha sheer force joke). With Sheer Force and a wide movepool to accommodate it, especially on the special side, it’s a devastating wallbreaker capable of tearing apart a lot of the tier. It can also run Nasty Plot to hit extremely hard, although it might be difficult to set-up. However, its aforementioned flaws means it can be outsped and KOed relatively easily by mons like Buzzscor, Brambleshao, Conkelbun, and most fast physical attackers in general. It also suffers from a lack of good dual STAB on either the physical or special side. Most of its good coverage is on the special side, so it’s forced to run mixed with Rock Slide and Shadow Ball as STABs, or just go out all special with no Rock STAB.

Role Justification: We need Steels! Electric/Steel is a great typing that counters the omnipresent Flying types in this meta as long as it runs Air Balloon, while still being a great typing in general. Lanpass’s high bulk and ability to spread status with moves such as Discharge and Scald, as well as slow pivot with STAB Volt Switch, make it a solid wall and bulky pivot. It can also run coverage moves such as Body Press and Ice Beam to alleviate its middling SpA and weak offensive typing. However, it’s still quite passive in addition to being slow and lacking reliable recovery. Its weakness to common typings in Ground and Fighting means the majority of physical attackers can break past it unless it’s running an Air Balloon.

Role Justification: A slow Ice!? How terrible! Until you find out its ability gives it the strongest Ice Shard ever. Are Pokémon like Buzzscor, Maractorus, Brambleshao, Kilommo-o, and the horrific Bombirdier giving you trouble? It’ll tear through them with its strong Ice type moves. However, its Attack may seem weak for other moves despite its good coverage, so you can run a Curse set! Or if you want to be really interesting, you can go for a dual hazard set with Sticky Web and Stealth Rock! However, with all of that in mind, it has a poor defensive typing, is weak to entry hazards, is slow and only decently bulky, and is weak unboosted unless using an Ice-type move. Its strengths are incredible, but its drawbacks are horrific.

Role Justification: Decently fast wall with serviceable bulk and a typing that is serviceable against the prominent physical attackers of the tier, especially with Electric Fence alongside what seems to be an endless amount of utility (no, really). Bombirdus does not want to be using Knock Off so long as Regithorn is around, and with Regithorn's STAB Thunder Cage and fast enough to outspeed, its not comfortable taking it on head on either. Aside from that though this mon has a truck load of utility, from Knock Off itself, to hazard setting, to hazard removal, IronPress shenanigans, SD for a surprise physical set, and even screens setting due to its high speed. It circumvents its passivity with Thunder Cage which can continuously cripple mons per turn and bypasses its subpar offensive stats. Overall, a decent wall and glue that can perform a variety of roles. It also does pretty funny stuff against VSwitch spam by reducing Electric-type attackers' HP by 1/8. It does very well against Magnegiri, which is a plus.

Regithorn has some glaring weaknesses however that can't be ignored. For one, 77 SpA is still really poor, and with no way to boost it can easily devolve into passivity. In particular, Regithorn does pretty poorly into Grounds. Although its true that Regithorn can use a STAB Energy Ball, due to its 77 SpA it still won't even do that much damage, since Grounds are immune to Thunder Cage and thus don't have to worry about its chip damage, though Regithorn does have Body Press as an option with its defense stat and access to Iron Defense. Another problem is Regithorn's longevity, as it only has access to Leech Seed. Aside from that, it has to rely on Lefties (prone to Knock) or Giga Drain (75BP ontop of 77 SpA), which means its prone to being worn down throughout a game.

The following sets are just some of the examples of sets it can run, though if I'm being completely honest I have no idea how to build this mon lol. Its just got a lot it can do, and it doesn't require a lot of moveslots to do its job since Thunder Cage + Utility is almost all it needs and it leaves a few moveslots left, so its very flexible in that department. In that regard it can fit into a multitude of team playstyles and its moveset is very flexible to fit what it wants.

An actually competent looking mixed set. Thunder Cage damage is negligible, but still threatening due to its chip damage and the Electric Fence boost. Instead, this set aims to utilize Regithorn's decent 97 Atk and a strong 120BP physical move in Power Whip for some surprising damage. Just like most Regithorn sets, the last couple of moveslots are very flexible and can be anything to fit the team.

I just found out Ferrothorn retains SD in Gen 8, so here's a fancy offensive utility set. Don't get your undies in a fit, Regithorn still has to utilize two subpar STAB Electric-type moves: Supercell Slam and Wild Charge, the latter absolutely annihilating Regithorn's longevity and the former doing the same thing with a single wrong prediction. That being said, with good speed and decent attack and Power Whip, Regithorn could have the option to turn a game around with a sweep. Your choice of moveslot is once again present, so this could be surprisingly decent under the right circumstances.

Role Justification: With Simple, Clear body and pretty much all standard setup sweeping moves available aside for quiver dance, dragon dance and swords dance, this mon can be a menace if left unchecked, though there are a couple of turns required to setup that can be abused, its poor typing does not help with this, but the payoff is huge. Stats wise it is incredibly nerfed compared to the original regirock but the ability simple should help to solve these issues, its mediocre type is currently unique in the tier but I think that this mon has a place amongst other slow sweepers in the tier. Also, the name is an ohmage to Icekrai, which is such a cool and well designed pokemon, so I thought that I would create a much needed boost to what regirock was initially supposed to be in aims to make him a meta threat.

Role Justification: Recent events have left a Slither King-shaped hole in the meta, and another bulky steel would help a lot with curbing the reign of resident brokemon Bombirdus (among others). Tinkamora provides that, with its solid bulk and Corrosion making it a real threat to slower-going offensive mons. It can also be an attacker in its own right, with Meteor Beam sets having plenty of coverage to play around with. Additionally, the hazard game is a little funky right now, so Tinkamora provides a more effective removal option and setter (who notably can't remove on itself, leaving that niche to mons like Dragocoal and Magnegiri). Now, you might notice that this mon's type overlaps with Tentazor. While that is true, I think it's worth noting that Tentazor is both a physical attacker and more offensive than Tinkamora, leaving Tink to fill in the defensive roles that Tentazor was pretty bad at anyway.
