Parents: Sceptile / Garchomp
Shared egg group: Dragon
Offspring Name: Sceptchomp
New type: Grass/Dragon
New base stats: 99/117/90/102/95/121 (BST 624)
New ability and desc: Rough Growth: When HP is below 33%, Grass moves gain a 50% power increase. Any contact move used by the opponent removes 1/8 of their own HP.
Notable Moves: Leaf Blade, Swords Dance, Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Outrage, Giga Drain, Draco Meteor, Focus Blast, Fire Blast, Stealth Rock, Dragon Tail, Iron Head, Stone Edge
Role identification: Although decent bulk, good offences and high speed serve it well, Sceptchomp is mostly overshadowed by its Mega Evolutions:
Mega Sceptchomp (Garchompite)
Offspring Name: Mega Sceptchomp G
New type: Grass/Dragon
New base stats: 99/157/110/142/105/111 (BST 724)
New ability and desc: Sand Force
Notable Moves: Leaf Blade, Swords Dance, Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Outrage, Giga Drain, Draco Meteor, Focus Blast, Fire Blast, Stealth Rock, Dragon Tail, Iron Head, Stone Edge
Role identification: A spectacular mixed attacker, with great bulk for an offensive Pokemon at 99/110/105, and high speed to match (fortunately pairing with Sceptile makes it easier to swallow Garchompite's -10 Spe). Its 157/142 offences are backed up by powerful STAB and coverage options. It can run a physical Swords Dance set, as with 111 speed and a +2 157 attack stat, sweeping teams is a breeze, so long as Pokemon such as Talonflame and Weavile have been removed. A 142 Special Attack stat makes moves like Draco Meteor, Focus Blast and Fire Blast extremely powerful as well, cementing Mega Sceptchomp G's place as a terrifying offensive prescene that can tear down even the sturdiest of walls.
Mega Sceptchomp (Sceptilite)
Offspring Name: Mega Sceptchomp S
New type: Grass/Dragon
New base stats: 99/142/100/142/95/146 (BST 724)
New ability and desc: Lightning Rod
Notable Moves: Leaf Blade, Swords Dance, Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Outrage, Giga Drain, Draco Meteor, Focus Blast, Fire Blast, Stealth Rock, Dragon Tail, Iron Head, Stone Edge
Role identification: A little odd and perhaps overshadowed next to its Garchompite counterpart (something I never thought I'd say), as although Mega Sceptchomp S lacks its brother's bulk and raw physical power, it makes up for it with a blistering speed stat of 146. Regardless, 99/100/95 bulk is still good and 142 in each Attack stat is great as well, meaning that Mega Sceptchomp S is still a force to be reckoned with. It can run many of the sets listed above, and perhaps also a Substitute Special Attacking set thanks to its higher speed. One could also bluff Mega Sceptchomp G only to use this Mega Stone to outspeed a potential check/counter and KO that instead.
