Game Freak hit with another hack, info leaking

This actually looks pretty damn cool. I can see the flood of comments saying we were robbed of the 3DS games looking like this instead of the less 'dynamic' look the battles ended up in the final product, but at the same time, considering that Gamefreak had trouble optimizing shit for those games (Gen 7 notoriously lagged on older 3DS models, for instance), that's probably why they cut back?
I can see why they cut back on this, even ignoring extra concerns with custom entrances or whatever, it's a pretty overly elaborate thing to do every battle and every action. The final's style, where it just quick swoops into the Pokemon and has various camera cuts is probably for the best just for pacing. They got slightly more elaborate as time went on, at least.

Also don't forget about the fact this would have been with 3D too. It may be nice seeing this for one battle in 2D, but when you constantly have these large shifts in perspective and you add in the stereoscopic 3D too, it's just motion sickness waiting to happen.

... baby Deoxys? How could you take this adorable abomination from me Gamefreak? He is perfect.
I don't think this one was real.

what do we think abt this (based on datamine)

personally i think it'd still be pretty bad in gen 6, and it'd definitely be bad in gen 7 with all of the ultra beasts
The order of stats in the original image is Speed/SpA/SpD internally as the other poster has it.

I genuinely hope that the Game Freak employee who was a victim to the phishing scam is ok. I cannot imagine the stress and the weight of the guilt for being partially responsible for the biggest leak in your company's history. Their information is now public knowledge and they probably will incur a lot of ire in the industry. Whoever they are I hope they can make it through this
The sad thing is, gen z is more likely to fall for scams so I can see this happening to more companies (not just game developers) in the future

I know everyone is talking about the fucking Typhlosion and Slaking stories, but honestly, this Arceus lore is some pretty good stuff. I love me some Gnostic-style cryptic cosmogony stories, and these stories are scratching that itch. Can't wait for the theory videos to start churning on this.

Also why does Ursaring keep popping up in these stories :psycry: That mon didn't get shit in Gen 4.

I appreciated this layout for all the gen 3 mons with their backsprites & their final designs (where applicable)

Eborotto is that "lottery" Pokemon we had a dex entry for back in the old leak, the one I thought might have turned into the idea for the Wurmple line, but doesn't seem like we have any evolution data for it? I wonder if it was meant to evolve into anything in this batch, or if it was still being decided.
It is confirmed to change its shape at the time of evolution, but what causes it is unknown.
It is a hot topic among Pokémon researchers.

How it manipulates its body is mostly unconfirmed.
It has no visible mouth and ears, but it is only known to react to sound and light.

Really interesting to me that Clamperl & Huntail seemed more conceptualized like Twinz/Girafarig. The shell & the internals of the clam -> an eel that has a head on the front and tail. And then that tail was spun off into gorebyss. neat!

Also did not expect the 4 "castforms" to actually be 4 distinct Pokemon.

I'm probably the only person who remembers this but a few years back there was a SM dev repository leak where there was an index entry for a cut Alolan Snorlax. If/when we get to SM stuff this time hopefully more info on it is found like with Mega Jynx

Ahem:

I hope we get some beta art for gen 7, and hopefully some scrapped ultra beasts or regional forms. I remember there was apparently some work done for a regional snorlax, would be neat to find out what it was meant to be. Would also love if there was some lore and more art for the mythicals revealed.

You even liked the post! :totodiLUL:

(It's ok, I know it was at the end of a big wall of text :P )

"Pokémon that can evolve into whatever."

Was the lottery Pokemon's gimmick going to be that it could evolve into anything? What a weird, weird Pokemon.
imagine if that pokemon evolved into a fuckin arceus or a fuckin legendary, seems extremely unreal and it's probably understandable that it got yeeted before the final release, because that seems either completely useless or completely broken with a grand total of very little in-between space

what did the low HP music do to you to warrant this visceral reaction of yours
Low HP theme (and the dynamic camera angle reddit was gooning over) look cool in snippits but they get really tedious after a 20 hour RPG

Dynamic camera especially, the problem with Pokemon combat visuals isn't and has never been the camera angles, it's always been the lack of good UI. Look at Persona 5, bleh character models but crisp UI combined with good sound effects for a very good UX. Legends Arceus also already solved this stuff by taking queues from P5

Zooming in and out and around the Pokemon makes me feel a bit uneasy after just watching it for like a minute, and I'm glad it wasn't made the standard

I figure if that was the intent (& not just "we'll figure out its evolutions later) they probably scrapped it because it would be weird for this one random thing to evolve into any other Pokemon in the game. Feels like a concept that would be more at home in Gen 1 when things were still loose with ideas, rather than gen 3.

I still can imagine it might've used the personality value to determine things and that was repurpused as wurmple's branching evolution, though.

Personally I don't find it tedious, no more than the other actual wild battle themes you're going to hear the start of and not much else for the majority of the game, because you're only ever going to hear it in snippets. In most instances you're either going to heal out of it, KO out of it or end the battle (& then heal up).

If anything I think that might've contributed to just cutting it. It's not a very long piece, but it is something you're just not going to hear a lot which makes it awkward when it can also overwrite any other theme in the game. Probably saw it as best to just let the music itself stand up, and that conceit probably is what got them to just limit the low HP to a single beep alert and I believe they cut the "last pokemon standing" thing (repurposing it better in SWSH and SV's gym battles) probably for similar reasons.

actually reading through the scrapped myths, it's really fascinating seeing them try and work out what they wanted to say about the world.
Rayquaza transformed into the main pillar that topped the sky.
Its shadow soaring through the sky transformed into a god supporting the heavens called Dragonite.
The air enveloped the sky, and the stars twinkled.
Groudon transformed into solid stone covering the earth.
Its roaring as it dived into the earth transformed into a god supporting the earth called Tyranitar.
The earth stirred and the mountains writhed.
Kyogre transformed into a vein of water that embraced the sea.
Its ripples that disappeared into the ocean transformed into a god supporting the sea called Gyarados.
The sea filled with water, and the waves rustled.
I respect they kept trying to tie in "regular" Pokemon into the creation myths, per the original idea for the diagram, even if it is kind of goofy.

I think it was the right call to pull back on it and keep things more insular to a Sinnoh creation myth (rather than a greater Pokemon-Japan creation myth) with other, more vague myths that are simpler over all. Seems like there was a lot of revisions before getting to that point.

Shame there's probably not similar write ups for Gen 5's abyssal ruins?

Of course this had to happen during my break from the Internet. I had lots of thougths, but I have edited some out regarding future games and the anime if it isn't allowed. When I say "people" I obviously don't mean users on here (I think? I need to catch up on a lot, I plan on keep the discussions I started before leaving) just what I have seen today on the fandom. Admitedly, as much as I love to know about beta stuff, it coming from an attack that has also unnecesary leaked employees' personal info is pretty uncomfortable. I know we would have never gotten them otherwise but still, why get them involved? And as much as I love Gen 3, I would be much more interested in more recent stuff that actually has a chance of being revisited. Anyways:

-Fans: come up with elaborare theories about the origin of Pokemon relating them to humans or the real world, arguing it's too dark for GF because it would make uncomfortable that humans give orders to creatures too similar to them
GF mythology: "so this guy had sex with an Octillery like twice and got it pregnant, the offspring went around mutilating Ursarings with a sword"

I know it's not literal, just a realistic gen 4-style myth to represent humans are close to Pokemon and all, but it's funny. I also somehow recall already seeing it somewhere? Just like Grovyle being a repurpoused fossil, unless that was some kind of extremely on point speculation.

-While we are talking about mythology, I don't get why people are taking the creation chart/cycles with the pseudos as canon (actually I do know, it's Centro as always spreading misinformation but you get the point). If it wasn't in the games proper is probably because it was discarded. It isn't any different to the mentioned stories of humans breeding with Pokemon, in fact, it has less of a reason to not be in-game. Do you really want me to believe nowadays than Xerneas/Yveltal have no place in the creation process but Gyarados does? It was obviously written just for gen 4, and discared for whatever reason.

-Mega Jynx was already known, nothing new there. Still glad it didn't happen as it deserves an actual evolution. This means we could know something about scrapped regional forms however? That would be a lot more fascinating to me. Apparently Mewtwo also had another form in Gen 5? Probably Mega Mewtwo Y if I had to guess. The movie always felt like it just treated it like any new form change.

I have not seen the beta designs in depth, but then again I wasn't even planning on seeing the leaks, but it's impossible with all the reaction and memes these myths have created.
