What tier would Gogoat be in? Would he be in at least UU tier?
I see him as high RU with a pretty decent offensive movepool/stats and a reliable recovery move. I seem him similar to Miltank with less support options. What tier would Gogoat be in? Would he be in at least UU tier?
The person who said it had solid defenses cited it as having good HP differently. The defensive stats alone are on par with gengar's.
Luxray of XY is pretty accurate, but luxray is barely usable in NU.
Gogoat + horn leech + leftovers + milk drink + max HP = One hell of a wall.
Personally Milk drink + horn leech is an absolute must. It really helps to being a good offensive staller
You're right, Gogoat is one of those Pokemon with a much higher HP stat than defenses. Investing some HP EVs into Defense will give a much more noticable boost. However on a defensive Bulk Up set, it will be boosting Defense anyway so it's best to maximize Gogoat's Special Defense. If you want better Defense immediately though, your spread is much better.
I've tried using Gogoat, and it always seems like Burn bait. How do you deal with that in general?
I'm gonna play RU just so I can use this thing. I tried it in UU but it struggles to compete (then again UU is pretty broken right now). The comparison of it to Miltank is interesting. The problem with gogoat, compared to miltank (which is actually really under-rated and should be at least RU imo) is that it has awful stat distribution. 530 base is great, but have almost 100 of them dedicated to a shallow at best special movepool is a real waste. In comparison, Miltank has 40 special attack (though ironically it has the special movepool that could use 97 base) and instead had a bit more speed and bulk. On top of his poor speed, gogoat doesn't have a usable priority move, making him prone to revenge killing even after he sets up.
The only thing that gogoat has over miltank is the fact that it can hit slightly harder offensively and that it get's a better set up move. In fact, I think bulk up is gogoat's only viable set. The set in the OP is pretty good. I don't think milk drink can be sacrificed for substitute, milk drink set's gogoat apart from other set up sweepers. BUT gogoat hates burn, so he needs support from a fire type, both to cover weaknesses and burn. Rotom-H is a great partner in UU. I don't know, I really want to use gogoat, but it's not gonna be viable in any tier above ru sadly. :(
Not sure why, but this guy reminds me a lot of Miltank despite having a few (albeit important) differences.
182 HP EVs results in 432 HP which is a leftovers number and allows you to dump a few EVs to boost Defense a bit. Not sure if it'll matter or make it worse in the long, so any math techies might wanna confirm or disprove?
what tier is gogoat in
thanks, i kept thinking it was BL or UU, has chatot got a new tier yet, boom burst might make a difference in how people use it
Hey,how about gogoat with assault vest?with careful nature and max.invest on his special def?what do you think?Heh, but I just had to say it. Glad you like the thread! As for that 97 base SpA (assuming that number is correct): it looks wasted on paper, yes. But Gogoat does learn one handy move that will take advantage of it: Hidden Power.
Here's my GoMixedGoat LO + 3 Attacks Set:
Gogoat @ Life Orb
Ability: Sap-Sipper
Nature: Brave / Naughty
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
- Horn Leech
- Payback / Earthquake
- Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Ice
- Milk Drink
This set forgoes boosting to hit hard right off the bat. Dropping special defense for max Attack and LO allows Gogoat to deal good damage with Horn Leech, and the healing can offset the recoil. Payback or Earthquake for coverage, and the fourth moveslot remains Milk Drink for extra longevity. The third moveslot is the real shocker, so make use of that 97 SpA by selecting the Hidden Power of your choice! Even with 60 BP and no investment the calcs are great:
0 SpA Life Orb Gogoat HP Fire vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Scizor: 265-312 (77.25 - 90.96%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Life Orb Gogoat HP Fire vs. 252 HP / 208 SpD Ferrothorn: 166-198 (47.15 - 56.25%) -- 75.39% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Life Orb Gogoat HP Fire vs. 224 HP / 32 SpD Skarmory: 143-169 (43.73 - 51.68%) -- 72.66% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Life Orb Gogoat HP Ice vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Salamence: 291-348 (87.91 - 105.13%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Life Orb Gogoat HP Ice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 255-302 (71.22 - 84.35%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
As you can see, a lot of would-be counters will get smashed by HP. Thoughts?
Because a +1 rock slide from most Pokemon fails to KO Talonflame.A Bulk Up Rock Slide from my Brave Gogoat actually OHKOed a Tflame
