SPECIFIC RULES

  • This is a standard GSC OU tournament
  • This tournament will be Double Elimination
  • Rounds will be Best of Three. You may switch teams in between battles of the same set.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown! (Main or SmogTours)
  • Replays will not be required until Top 16.
  • Activity calls will be made by me, potentially with neutral assistance from a Tournament Director. Coin flips will be done publicly on PS!
  • In the event that something is added to or removed from the GSC OU metagame in the middle of a round, that change will be in effect starting the next round.

    • Signing up with more than one account
    • Ghosting or being ghosted by another player (e.g. while playing a set, asking for advice about what plays to make)
    • Manipulating match outcomes (e.g. throwing a match in exchange for Smogon likes)
  • Do not harass or insult your opponents. I reserve the right to disqualify anyone breaking this rule. Additional punishments may be applied as necessary.
Standard Rules and Clauses

  • Freeze Clause Mod: If a player has already frozen an opposing Pokémon using a freeze-inducing move and that Pokémon is still frozen due to that freeze-inducing move, the player cannot freeze another opposing Pokémon with a freeze-inducing move.
  • Sleep Clause Mod: If a player has already put an opposing Pokémon to sleep using a sleep-inducing move and that Pokémon is still sleeping due to that sleep-inducing move, the player cannot put another opposing Pokémon to sleep using a sleep-inducing move.

Quick Predictions for T16:
Gorgie > Aminita - two players who like to play for tricks, would favour gorgie because he will go a bit further in the teams department, but aminita has a good shot. moderate chance of seeing swagger shenanigans

glfgno > tyler - glfgno is a very solid player who has a very defined, proven style, while tyler will branch out into more experimental teams. I think if glfgno manages to avoid some of the techs by playing jack-of-all trades offenses or playing a bit conservatively he can bring it home. if not its anyones game.

ruby > ombrarch - these are two precise players who have similar weakness, ruby is a bit weak against players who make "cute" plays and ombrach historically has a trend of getting railroaded into switch cycles. on paper would favour ruby as if they play a straight forward game, though with some prep, ombrarch should have a good chance.

metallica > mahthebot - not familiar with either of their gsc games, rooting for my roapl teammate

cyberacc < conflict - havent seen cyberacc play ou in a while, if it was ubers it would be closer but i think in ou, conflict will be favoured

dangerk1d < sableordely - playins rematch? liam is slowly improving to be a respectible player and dangerk1d is new (but dangerous), would favour liam as has a bit more experience I think. could go either way

justfranco vs onraider - justfranco is loading past spl teams while onraider had multiple respectable runs, as long as onraider brings solid teams and is thinking in game about lasts/techs would favour him

(tibarn vs chiles) vs vileman - all players whos ability fluctuates based on mentality. would favour vileman based on current read and playstyle.

we will need an extension w Ruby (he got trapped into ST tonight), we're playing tomorrow around 10pm +2
