Heatrick (OU)

After messing around with gimmick teams for far too long (read; Dig Gliscor stall) my leaderboard ratings went down to the ground. So, I had to get serious to avoid losing so much and I needed a WiFi team to use. After tinkering with it for a while, it got me up to 1310-1382 win-loss record, a huge jump from what I had (probably 20%-80% win-loss?), but I've found myself getting walled by Skarmbliss, so I'm thinking of a mixed sweeper, but I haven't found one I like yet.

I'm gonna use the names I gave them mostly because I have trouble spelling their names. (Gayrados? Gyrados?)

Iron Head
Ice Punch
Trick
Stealth Rock

Iron Head prevents other leads from setting up their rocks if I'm lucky, and has the bulk to last a few hits, even without much investment. In fact, after a few tests, it can run through an unprepared team if luck is on my side. It also serves as one of my Trickscarfers, which is a vital part of this team. (For reasons you will find out later)

What I do against other leads;

Azelf: Azelf is a huge problem if it has Fire Blast. When I feel lucky, I Iron Head, and if I don't I switch to Snakey.

Swampert: I Iron Head a little and switch to Celebi.

Aerodactyl: Hope Iron Head flinches and go for the kill.

Bronzong: Set up Rocks and switch to Moe.

Roserade: Roserade is tricky. I usually Iron Head spam, hoping Sleep Powder doesn't hit, and if it does, I switch to Woody and KO it with Hidden Power or set up a Substitute.

Machamp: Trick away Lum Berry and give Moe a free swtich.

Infernape: Snakey uses him to get a free Dragon Dance, providing it doesn't carry ThunderPunch or Stone Edge (and to an extent Endeavor)

Hippowdon: Why am I seeing to many Hippowdon leads? Trick their Lum or Leftovers, and make them switch while I set up my own rocks.

Jirachi: Laugh as it tries to Trickscarf me, and maybe switch to something else when it switches.

Tyranitar: What business does he have with Jirachi's Iron Head?

Heatran: Switch to Snakey, pronto. From there, Waterfall or Dragon Dance.

Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Stone Edge
Earthquake

By now, everyone knows how big of a deal Gyarados is when it gets in a Dragon Dance. Besides being particularly useful against common leads, it works great with my two Trick-Scarfers, as they often give her time to get in two or three Dragon Dance boosts in, and from there, I tear holes in the opponent, getting rid of pesky Dragonites (watch out for ExtremeSpeed), Heatran and un-Sashed Infernape. It also hits Scizor pretty hard, and Bullet Punch won't do much against Snakey. (It can, however get picked off by it) Despite all this, however, it usually doesn't last long due to Stealth Rock and constant battering; and the need to switch out of Thunderbolts does not aid Snakey's cause at all. Which brings me to my next member;

Wish
Substitute
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power Ice

Woody helps my team recover from heavy hits, especially Snakey, who gets threatened by Thunderbolt here and there. Woody laps up such attacks, and if I've Scarfed them or they have no business messing with him (Starmie) I set up a Substitute to scout and get a turn of Wish in. I can also heal up in the face of Blissey, especially if they have Thunder Wave.

Wish isn't the only reason I picked Jolteon over Vaporeon, however. It checks things that would usually give me trouble, such as Starmie, Breloom (without Mach Punch) Dragonite (without ExtremeSpeed) Suicune, Vaporeon and Zapdos, especially if they have been Scarfed, as he still outruns them and picks them off. He can also serve as a revenge killer against Scizor if he took down Moe with Pursuit.

Grass Knot
Trick
Hidden Power Fire
Earth Power

Sadly, in-game I don't have access to Hidden Power Ice, but Fire works just fine against opposing Celebi, Roserade, Mamoswine, and Magnezone.

Celebi is my other Trickscarfer, who aims to cripple walls, stat boosters, and Sleep Talkers, all of which are threatening to James' chance of a sweep. Grass Knot does consistent damage to heavyweights, and opposed to Leaf Storm, doesn't force me to switch out as much. Tricking Breloom and avoiding Sleep by Toxic Orb is also a huge plus against the mushroom manic that I hate so much.

Celebi also gets healed from Wish easily thanks to resistance to Ground and forces Ground types to switch to Blissey, who gets handed a warm Scarf in exchange for some tasty Leftovers, which makes her easier to beat.

Maybe replace with another Trickscarfer that isn't scared to death of T-Tar?

Moe
Timid Nature
@ Leftovers
128 HP / 168 SpA / 214 Spe

Will-O-Wisp
Substitute
Charge Beam
Shadow Ball

I don't find myself missing Thunderbolt on Subcharge Mowtom, and Will-O-Wisp cripples T-tar and other physical attackers, which lets the whole team breath easier.

Lately, though, I've been seeing Moe as the weak link, but when I try something new in his place, I find myself missing that Fighting resist and Lucario check. So, a little help on this slot would be much appreciated.

James
Calm Nature
@ Leftovers
244 HP / 220 Spe / 32 SpA / 12 SpD

Lava Plume
Torment
Substitute
Protect

This guy has made so many people ragequit or just plain give up after a few dozen turns, and this is made worse because all the counters they had for it are all unable to hit it twice before Struggling! This is magnified when a T-tar that has given Celebi or Lunkwell the slip gets Burned by Lava Plume, rendering it unable to break James' subs as well.

James comes out when his counters are weakened or Scarfed, and proceeds to Torment them into Struggle, set up subs in their face, and proceeds to stall them out with Burn and Struggle damage. James feasts on the blood of Scarfed CroCune, which cannot KO it with Surf before James gets behind a Substitute and begins his work. If he forces a switch to a Earthquaker, he Torments them too, etc, etc.

So there you have it; RMT!

I don't see the point in running a Scarf Gross as a lead. It really can't deal with any common lead except for maybe Jirachi (which would switch anyway). For this reason I think a standard metagross lead with Lum Berry and Meteor Mash would perform a much better job.

I also don't understand why is Celebi there since it doesn't help in revenge killing anything that may threat you team and gets totally owned by pursuiters such as Scizor and Tyranitar (if they don't switch into HP Fire and Grass Knot respectively). At this point I suggest you to run a MixNite which acts as an incredibly powerful
stall-breaker and helps you against strategies based on things like the "infamous" Skarm-Bliss combo.

Good Luck.

I don't see much sense in getting rid of my two Trickscarfers, which are vital to James' performance. I will consider replacing Moe with a Mixnite, though, and now that you mention it, Scarfgross can't deal with standard leads. I'll try Jirachi for a while and see how it goes.

Metagross is scarfed but since you put Adamant nature it only reaches 359 speed which is almost completely useless. You have Jolteon who is faster and can revenge kill more pokes such as DD Dragonite and DD Gyarados (Adamant). Why do you think you really need "trickscarfers"? I don't see how they're "vital to James' performance"... but whatever...

It's vital because it traps Sleep Talkers and walls James would have trouble with otherwise into one move, making them Struggle themselves to death. With two, I can almost guarantee he'll stall out at least a wall, allowing someone else to take a few Pokemon down.

I've tried this Heatran with two trick-scarfers on Shoddy and it is just amazing how well it works. You can utterly shut down entire teams with it.

I use 5 different Pokemon to the ones you have here, but it is a very versatile thing in terms of partners.

Hi,

Have you ever considered running more entry hazards on this team? Since this team seems to be based on a Torment-Tran sweep, I think adding toxic spikes might be a good option, as it wears down bulky water counters. Rotom also greatly benefits from Toxic Spikes (assuming you replace Will-O-Wisp with Thunderbolt).

I would replace Metagross with Forretress, who is a solid lead and also gives you rapid spin support:

Forretress @ Leftovers/Lum Berry
Careful
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SpD
-Toxic Spikes
-Stealth Rock
-Payback
-Rapid Spin

Payback allows you to lay damage on ghosts switching in. As for the item choice, Leftovers is the most reliable option as Forretress lacks any form of recovery, but Lum Berry lets you take a round of confusion from Machamp leads, and it also allows you to set up a layer against Smeargle and Roserade leads.

Good luck!

Wish doesn't work out on Jolteon, he's often too weak to even survive the hit. Substitute can work but your better off with Shadow Ball and something else.

You know Vaporeon also gets wish? I believe all the evo's get it, but I know for a fact that the OU ones do.

The rest seems fine it's just the jolteon set was a little odd. I don't know how it works for you though.

Jolteon works surprisingly well. Well, at least for me he does.

I appreciate the Forretress suggestion, but in the past he hasn't really clicked with me. I don't often wish I had more entry hazards, and Toxic Spikes makes Lava Plume's Burn chance useless in most cases.

I've tried out Jirachi and I'm hooked. I'll put him on.

EDIT: Forretress as a lead? I'd have massive problems with Azelf then, but come to think of it I haven't seen much of him lately. Wonder why.

Eh, Heatran can take a hit (barring LO HP Ground) and Jolteon can revenge. I wouldn't worry about Zelf.

Also, I'm not a fan of Choice Scarf Celebi, let alone two scarfers on one team. You should replace that with a standard defensive Celebi to give your team a more solid Breloom counter.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Bold
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spe
-Grass Knot
-HP Fire
-Leech Seed
-Recover

Leech Seed is pretty evil with toxic spikes, and with it, Celebi can stall out pretty much anything that doesn't end with -Ape, -Tran, or U-Turn (lmao).

Well, I guess I can replace Celebi with 'Tress, as I'm not a big fan of him leading. Also, I'm thinking of replacing Moe with a Scarf Gallade for 'tar. Thoughts?
