High Quality Fanworks

Zen Mode is back (well, came back a month ago)

And they certainly gave themselves a challenge with making SUNFLORA playthrough viable, but damn if they didn't do a great job of it, with a fun narrative to boot, and changes that make sense without being cliche (I.E not being Grass / Fire or using Flash Fire).

Honestly an amazing video, and I can't wait to see the next one!

[/Wasn't expecting the goal to be "Saving Johto from a Nuclear Winter by training a Sunflora to absorb the radiation but here we are. Nor was I expecting it to OHKO Whitney's Milktank with STAB Hyper Beam]

So, the original artist of the classic Transitional Kakuna/Metapod art made a 10 year anniversary update to it.

It's seeming as if soul is about to return to the menu.
How has something managed to be so nostalgic and yet novel?

I would love to see Ultra Beasts and Paradoxes in a Mystery Dungeon setting. There is so much potential there and they kind of already played with the idea themselves with Dark Matter.

Then again the sounds making me so nostalgic make me feel I just want more entries in the series, or a Explorers remake.

I wish I had the money or motivation to get plushis of my favourite mons because is something I have wanted even since a kid and I would probably end up doing this type of things. (Pokemon Center in mainland Europe when , please stop ignoring us. When I dated another Pokemon fan we could only have bootlegs we couldn't even fibd a Bidoof for her). I hope this person does more quality content.

Soundfont transpositions are hit-or-miss for me but oimo's re-stylings of newer themes in the GSC style are all quite good at maintaining consistency with the Masuda/Ichinose arrangement style of the time. These go out of their way to be believable as GB tracks as opposed to drag-and-drop soundfont covers, often basing them on existing tracks.

This last one is more of a Gen 1 style, and you can tell from the reduced complexity and lack of "drums" - great attention to detail.

Like how Grotesque evolved to become Huntail and Gorebyss. That was a dev cycle that lasted 2 Gens

Or Mikon being a scrapped Gen 1, 2, and 4 mon. It shows GF's consideration for any design or idea

The data is still being sorted and understood on TCRF, but the mon designs and mistranslated/misunderstood Gen 4 mythos are the only things people care about on Social Media

The old Gen 3 leaks are a great example of this. People at large didn't really give it the time of day since there wasn't many indications of lost Pokemon; it took a bit for people to find the pokedex entries and those felt like they didn't circulate as much probably since there was few-to-no names, just entries and categories iirc.

& honestly there was probably more in those old leaks that just didn't circulate at all. The dex entries are just the only things I recall talking about here, and I can't recall seeing extensive cataloging of any other changes. Might've just been low priority, which might also contribute.

Of course to an extent I suppose I get it; visuals are easier to work with then text that might not be translated at all (or properly), and no one really cares for map design unless it's substantially different like Spaceworld 97. Things "pop" more and, by & large, people do come to Pokemon for the Pokemon above all else (unelss something really really bugs them)....But I really love all the revisions of character documents we have just to see how these characters evolved over development, what changed and what stayed the same and my favorite is seeing little things that actually stuck through today they just barely get mentioned.
