Hmm Leafeon.

People usually just put HP EVs on Leafeon.

It won't switch in, but it can easily come in on a revenge kill and force you to switch out.

Please, research your numbers before posting something like this
Mistake, used speed instead of special defense by accident, disregard the above. Thats what I get for doing everything in my head.

To correct that you'd need around 164-168 s.def ev's to survive a maxed Starmie Ice Beam at its extreme. I believe that comes to around 198ish area for s.def.

I like the triple "Over 300" suggestion, but 300 is no magic number
Actually if we were to knock that speed up slightly to say 303/304 than it has a chance of outspeeding non +speed Garchomp which could be vital in getting that Swords Dance BP'd off. If you decide to go all the way than it even outspeeds non +spd Infernape.

Secondly I never said 300 was a magic number but its a good rounded number to be working from. For one thing any base 130 running either aerial ace or a neutral unSTAB'd attack will come short of 50% on Leafeon with 300 defence but say if you were to tweak it abit higher.

Either way the point wasn't to lay down magic numbers but to point out that its stats give it great versatility which some people seem to downplay as I did mention it can reach all those points with plenty to spare.

I don't think anyone is dismissing Leafeon... just dismissing sets on it that other Pokemon do better.

JSYK, investing in HP is much better than investing in SDef unless you specifically want to take special attacks (and why the hell would leafeon want that)

Now this little leafon problem.

Now i was planning a team and leafon was actually going to appear on this team, but it didnt and only missing one move stopped it from this. if they had given leafon aromatherapy it would have completed him for me. with SD, BP, leaf blade and aroma therapy, you could pass, attack, or just be a cleric with some good defense. sadly this is not the case.

sure the stats are good, but stats are only half the pokemon. movesets really matter. Because if you have a awesome verity of moves, and horrible stats (smeargle) that pokemon might still get some use.

Tank Leafeon is outclassed by Tangrowth. BP Leafeon is outclassed by Celebi. Sweeper Leafeon is outclassed by Sceptile.

Period.

Compariong Sceptile to Leafeon is a mistake IMO. They don't share any roles.

Now BP Leafeon vs Celebi is an interesting case. I assume you're talking about a BP Swords Dance Leafeon vs BP Swords Dance Celebi. (Leafeon can provide wish support as well, and if you want a Swords Dance Baton Passer with Wish support, Celebi is out of the picture)

So looking at a Swords Dance + BP + attack + filer set... Celebi has better special defenses than Leafeon. Because Celebi has much higher HP, it will also take physical hits quite well. Leafeon only bearly beats it. Having 70 less hp than Celebi at lvl 100 really hurts it.

On the other hand, Celebi does not seem to have any STAB physical grass attacks. Plenty of special attacks, but none are physical.

So I would see Celebi as the special swords dance baton passer, while Leafeon as the physical swords dance baton passer.

Anyway, it just looks like Celebi and Leafeon are just too different to group them together. It is fair to compare tank-set Leafeon to tank-set Tangrowth, but Celebi and Sceptile are just too much of a stretch to compare.

I'd say Wish support is a cleric role. It ain't aromatherapy/heal bell, but it gets the job done in a different way :-p

I was simply looking for information on a decent EV spread, and then I found this wall of text (garbage).

A good EV spread to BP SD's?

I'm using this set.

Leafeon@Leftovers
-Impish/Adamant, Leaf Guard
EVs: ...
Swords Dance
Substitute/Grass Whistle/Yawn
Baton Pass
Leaf Blade

Which would be better to help set up Swords Dance? EVs?

Aerial Ace/Return/X-Scissor all seem sort of useless with Baton Pass (or at least will hinder the Baton passing moveset by not giving a move to help set up).
