If you have to hack your IV's and stuff because "you have a life, so you don't have time to breed pokaymanz", just go play Shoddy or, in the future, Competitor.

I've heard that excuse a fair few times, but it occurs to me that if you had a life, you wouldn't bother spending time/energy/money on an AR and hacking a pokemon in the first place, especially taking care to make sure it's within the limits of the game. In fact, that speaks more to people really NOT having a life. Not to be a hater, I play the game a ridiculous number of hours a day, and that kinda defines me as a non-life-haver, but I don't think that's a legitimate excuse for anyone. Like the man said, go play Shoddy if you don't have the time to breed legitimate pokes.

If I didn't state it here, I don't mind battling "legal limit" hacked pokes or even trading "Semi-legit" (read: getting Tickets Nintendo hasn't held an event for and SRing) stuff. I just would like to know in advance if I'm trading for something non-legit (and I usually will say no to that)

I havent started Wifi battling yet since Im too lazy to breed but I wouldnt mind hacking as long its wasnt done outrageously obvious. Saying that though I wouldnt go through the trouble hacking as if I wanted a perfect team I would play Shoddy or NB.

I have noticed there are too many of these things... I think it's ok for hacks that are within the games limit unless you want to trade them. But seriously haven't we heard this answer a million times?

EDIT: hey 100 up!

Hacking is unacceptable. If everybody didit it would be fine, but asthey don't it is unfair on the people who spent time and effort on doing it properly.

Well, I do hack, but I have yet another "excuse" for it.

Imagine a teenager, with abnormal emotions, considering these games more important that even being with his family most of the time, with slight anger problems.
Now, imagine the same teen not being the best competitive battler, and is always trying out new strategies. Now, imagine him spending the long amount of time breeding the "perfect" pokemon, only to use it in a battle, and it turns out to suck. Now, a normal person would just accept it, and try to make another one. Imagine a person who doesn't work like that, one who would very likely consider it the end of the world.
That would be a person very much like myself.

Also, with the whole Shoddy thing, I have used it before, but one thing I'll say, is that I bought my Pearl version(AND PBR) to PLAY them, playing in actual battles, not to spend a gazillion hours breeding pokemon. I also did not buy the games to only have them sit in the dust while playing battles on a computer. To me, using Shoddy would pretty much be saying "fuck you" to the games I bought to PLAY.
And don't think I'm lazy or anything, hell, I had an AR BEFORE I even bought Pearl. I even played pearl legitly before I started hacking. I originally used wild pokemon mod codes, then when I found Pokesav, I was totally set. I might hack, but that does not mean I am unable to get pokemon legitly, I know how to get them, I have the ability to, I just choose not to to save time, and to help prevent any possible anger issues caused by breeding a good poke, only to have it suck.
Hell, as of right now, the 6 main Pokemon on my team, have totally legit movesets, abilities, EV's. They also have met locations and OT's and Trainer ID's that are totally possible for me to do by breeding, or by tranferring from my 2 GBA games. I even now go as far as to not put a SINGLE 31 IV in ANY of my Main Pokemon's stats. I am serious. I even semi randomize them at times.
And no, I NEVER hack illegal pokes, and I also never trade them. What would be the point of trading hacked pokes for legits, when I could just as easily hack them myself. I also don't support hacked pokes being traded for legits, as well as not supporting Wondertombs, Straight 31's, 252 EVs in all stats, or any other illegal hacks being traded or used against legit pokes.

And before this, I might have claimed my pokemon legit, but only because I would not get people battling me otherwise... If I said "... No Illegal hacks, Evasion clause...etc..." instead of "No Hacks", instead of people asking to battle me, people would be asking me whether I hack or not, not intending to battle me at all, no matter what answer I give.

Hopefully, this might give a more in depth, or possibly different view of a PokeSavver.

I'm against hacking. Why? Because it ruins the purpose of the game. I like the concept that you have to work hard for your stuff and whatever you get in return is hard earned reward. Even if someone hacked a not all flawless Pokemon (a 25/31/25/0/25/31 Gyrados for example) I still wouldn't want it because they didn't work for it.

A Wonderguard Spiritomb is ridiculous...because you just won't be able to kill it with straight out attacks (you'll need Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic/Will-O-Wisp, etc.)....and thats not in the game's limit, as Spiritomb is not meant to get that ability. That ability is meant only for Shedinja.

Would you like to trade a fake dollar bill for a real one just because they look the same?

I used hacked parents to make a child with clear above average IVs.

This has been encountered before, and is not against the grain of what people think is right and wrong.

Fierce Diety, it may seem ok at first, but if you think about it, you have a way better chance to get a good baby than everyone else...and thats not fair.

And true to what Rider said.

If it's within the legal limits of the game, nobody will even know unless you tell them you hacked it, so why can't we just continue without these discussions because what we don't know won't hurt us in this case.

Now, hacking illegal movesets and whatnot and battling competitively is another story, and should be frowned upon.

Im not really against it, but thats mainly because I consider breeding a flawed mechanic.

I understand the grief surrounding it though, but I mainly play on Shoddy anyway, so it's a non-issue for me.

even though I found a reliable way to breed exactly what I want, hidden power and all, hacking saves the time. Why breed 1-2 hours for max IVs when AR can do it in 5 minutes?

edit: ok, hacked non-breedable pokemon is dumb, but whatever, it's not much different I guess.

I'm okay with it except the fact that I actually breed for IVs while others are lazy and just get 31 on like every stat. For those who actually get them legitimately AND spend the hours or so to do it then this doesn't apply to you. Also trading hacked, 31 on every stat, pokes that can't be redistributed...its not like you actually have something to be proud of.

It's like what everyone's been saying; if I'm swept by a Belly Drum + Aqua Jet Azumarill, I don't like it, which goes for all illegal Egg Move combos, like Brave Bird + Hypnosis Crobat. If someone who just didn't have time to sit around for hours hoping to get good IVs and hacked a perfectly-legit looking Pokemon (aka no 31 IVs in every stat or illegal egg move combos or anything of the sort), I'm fine. If someone needs more Rare Candies to check if something they bred has good IVs, then what's wrong with hacking a couple?

In short, legal = good, illegal = bad.

Wtf stop reviving this, if it dies it dies. We have 257 other hack threads to argue pointlessly in, and there's bound to be more. No one is changing anyone elses mind here, and most of the site is already against trading off hacks as legit, so there's really no reason to to keep bringing this back up every other day. I'm not sure about Smogon, but on just about every other message board I have been a member of bumping your own topic is against the rules.
