Hi all, name's InvdrZim13.

I've been lurking for some time but I decided to make an account recently. I've been playing pokemon since Gen 3, so the games have been with me for a fair amount of my life, and I've been competitively battling since gen 5 (just with friends for fun), but didn't really get serious about it until ORAS came out. Since then I've been doing a bit of breeding/training in game (finally got that shiny charm, time to hop on Masuada's wild ride and breed me some good shinies), but I've been spending a lot more time on Showdown (finally climbed my way to 1443 ELO, which I know isn't that high but it's surprising to me because I've never been good at the competitive stuff), though I pretty much only play OU, I might look into other tiers at some point.

Outside of Pokemon, I procrastinate doing my work study Computer Engineering and finish my assignments in a timely manner, I also am a big fan of Grand Strategy games in the vein of CK2 and EU4, and Fire Emblem. Outside of this I'm a fairly casual gamer, as I tend to never be able to seriously dedicate time to a game, but I'll play for fun when I get the chance.

Anyways, that's more than I thought I would write (I don't think I'm all that interesting), so that'll end this intro!

I'm a male who's interested in Pokémon and the competitive play aspect now. I heard about Smogon from Silverleaguenetworks!

I've also been playing since Generation 3, but a few years after the original release. Judging from my past experiences, the Masuda Method is good. I didn't realize I was breeding a Lombre with a Japanese Bulbasaur, so when I hatched my first egg and it was a shiny, I was shocked! Anyway, try out the different tiers and their respective rooms, and have fun!

So I've been playing since DPPt (RIP Uutton ;-;7) but I've never really regularly used the forums so I'm trynna change that
I'm semi-known on youtube as ToxicImperialism (est. 2012,) mostly because of Surskit-faction. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I was the first guy to start that "MLG dubstep montage" thing that happened for a while, since I'm good friends with Dun and Swagilyph and the likes (not that I get a lot of credit from them, haha)
Anyway this should be fun. Sorry if I end up shitposting, lmao

1/512 chance is still not that good, 4 boxes in and still nothing ;_; (It's way better than the normal chance, but still)

I'll definitely have to check out the other tiers, would be interesting to see how those all operate.

I've been on showdown since XY started but did a bit of competitive play 4th gen. I tend to play mostly OU and RU but I'm trying to learn the UU and NU tiers as well. I finally caved to the ORAS hype and bought a 3DS, I love the new game although I'm not sure I like the effect some of the megas had on the OU meta-game :[ I'd love to get feedback on some teams I've built so if there's a thread for that I'll likely be posting there.

Nice to meet ya! Have you tried out the rooms of those tiers? Since you are wanting to learn about them, those rooms are the places to go! You could also PM a mentor if you want some help improving your competitive battling skills, such as predicting, teambuilding, etc. If you have any questions, please ask; otherwise, have a good time!
 
Been around for a couple months but not introduced myself.
Sup, I'm Gosick/Stockings and I'm a fighting game/card game/DotA player who picked up competitive pokemon near the end of gen 5, but only 'got gud' recently, even then I still need to get better and stop choking/playing inconsistently. I'm an OU and ADV player primarily, but I do play with the lc/smogdubs nerds dudes occasionally and hang with them quite a lot on the ps! chats. My friend from the smash community introduced me to some dooders on frost who I now chill with a lot, which is really cool, because I had only one or two good players to talk to about this game before. (shoutouts to ch@thot losing to an nu team with ubers cancerpass.)

Random battle was the tier I first started with, and I still love it. You can PM a mentor for some teambuilding help; a list of which you can find here. Otherwise, have a great time!
 
Hello, this is Phantom_ZER0.
I actually loathed Pokemon throughout childhood due to the anime. Karma hit me when my brother who has only played Gen I suddenly started playing Gen IV. Curious, I observed him and found interest in the D/P series. That dark mythical theme was quite a different take on the Pokemon I knew. I poured 400+ hours into Pearl when I realized how much I was missing out. I only knew very basic knowledge on nature/IVs/EVs and after Platinum, Gen V lost my interest. I came back to Gen VI when I found out about a shiny Gengar event (one of my favorite) and just had to get it. I lurked around smogon and read some faqs here and there but I feel that I really needed to join to take that last step into learning about competitive battling.

Hey guys, my name is Noah, I'm interested in starting competitive battling, I've been a casual player since i was four years old with my gameboy color and my copy of pokemon yellow, been playing ever since, beat and played all the games, have general knowledge but am looking for advice and tips and to make friends to battle with, talk to about strategies and to fit into the community!
