Its A Random vs. Rediamond Ref: Kaxtar

To evolve or not to evolve- that is the question. For now, I'll say yes. After that, negate his sandstorm with a sunny day, and hit him with an Energy Ball. I could strategize, but quite frankly I'm a hypocrite and too lazy to do so. The crapshoot of evolved Pokemon will continue!

Rediamond keeps up with the trend of evolved pokemon by making his Vulpix transform into a Ninetales! Drillbur didn't even notice, however, as it dug underground.

Drillbur soon comes out a little later and attacks Ninetales, dealing some pretty decent damage to our new battler.
Ninetales, irritated that this clearly slow as dirt pokemon is outspeeding her, decides to change this by changing the weather. Using her mystic powers, Sunshine calls forth the sun and ends the raging sandstorm.

Pissed off by the sunshine, Drillbur causes an Earthquake, though it is again weakened by the sand of the desert. Ninetales finishes off the round with an Energy Ball, knocking drillbur back with the power of plants!

This could actually be closer than I expected. But then again, that doesn't mean I'm actually at a disadvantage. Energy Ball, Ember, Energy Ball. We have a speed advantage now, so we should be able to win. But, if he ever tries to Dig, use Imprison to keep it from happening. This fight will end on land.

"So it all comes down to Choragon...Okay..."

"Alright, Choragon, We should get down to business, by Earthquaking that fox twice! I've done the calcs, & we should end up doing ~48 Damage, more than enough to take that fox out. If by some margin he's still alive, then finish him off for good with Dragon Claw. As usual, Sand Attack any Will-O-Wisp that comes our way. We don't need a burn."

On another note, I could evolve him right away, but I'll delay Choragon's evolution until it's safe...

I may have underestimated you after all. Regardless, you can't win against my HAX! Protect to block the first Earthquake, followed by a Fire Blast (hope for Burn), and a Flamethrower to strike one last blow in the sun. Even with a resistance, this should still Hirt a lot.

Ninetales is on its last legs; Gible takes not of this and tries to deal a finishing blow to Ninetales by summoning a powerful earthquake. Yet Ninetales seemed to anticipate this move, and protects to avoid any and all damage. However, as Earthquake is a field attack, Ninetales still gets damaged by the full amount. Tough break for ninetales!

Fearing that protect won't work another time, Ninetales changes things up with a Fire Blast to scorch Gible. Luckily for her, Gible gets burned by the intense flames, much to its shock. However, it sticks to its plan and launches yet another earthquake. But because of the burn, the amount of shaking was minimal, and Ninetales walks away from that attack relatively unharmed.

On a roll, Ninetales uses yet another fire attack, this time a flamethrower. Gibe shrugs it off and retaliates with a Dragon Claw, damaging Ninetales once more. Ninetales finally goes down; just an action too late for Gible.

I guess that just shows I've still got more to learn. Anyways Mankey, that lucky break probably sealed the battle for us... I swear my HAX is more broken than anything else in ASB. Regardless, let's just go for the kill. Close Combat, Karate Chop, and Low Kick. If he ever uses a move negated by Taunt, switch that action to Taunt, but don't Taunt more than once.

"Alright Choragon, it's about time we evolved into Gabite! So we should do so. Then we'll ERASE that burn! How? Choragon, take a quick dip into that oasis over there & immediately get back out! I bet my foolish opponent didn't think of that. Then finish up with an Earthquake. Heh, heh, heh..."

For the final time (hopefully), a competitor chooses to evolve yet again! This time, our little gible begins to glow with white light, and it emerges as a gabite! This new and powerful land shark thinks it has more then what it takes to take down that perfectly healthy Mankey. But only time will tell. Actually, Mankey doesn't even care aout his newly evolved pokemon and smacks it right away with a Close Combat. While this powerful series of blows lowers Mankey's defenses, it still deals impressive damage to Gabite.

Gabite then decides to get rid of its pestering burn by jumping into the oasis pool; however, Mankey manages to nail Gabite with a Karate Chop before it can jump in. However, after a quick soak, Gabite's burn seems to have healed.

And Gabite decided to get rid of that burn at precisely the right time, for it now chooses to cause an earthquake. Again, the power of earthquake is weakened by the sand of the desert. But while mankey stumbles on the ground, he formulates a plan to make Gabite join him. Mankey suddenly jumps from the round and smashes the area behind Gabite's knees with a Low kick, sending the land shark to the sand as well. In fact, Mankey managed to smack Gabite right under the knee cap, dealing critical damage because of it.

Gabite realizes its only hope left is to simply hax the shit out of Mankey. It starts by using a Sandstorm to activate its sand veil, but this proves fruitless as Mankey hones his claws to negate this evasion raise. Seeing how sandstorm won't work, Gabite uses a Sand attack, or tries to anyways. Mankey is able to burn up the Sand attack with an overheat while also damaging Gabite slightly at the same time.

Realizing how fruitless its haxy actions are, Gabite cuts the crap and decides to go down like a man. He rakes Mankey's face with Dragonic Claws, dealing quite a large sum of damage. However, it is no match for Mankey's counter, which knocks Gabite out cold.

After a long month of hax and evolutions, one pokemon remains standing, but its all that needs to be standing! Radiamond, finally, has won the match!

Congrats Rediamond, and great work Random. It was a very close match. IMO, Rediamond won when he KO'ed Shellos with Nuzleaf before Nuzleaf could be KO'ed by Shellos; this gave Rediamond the initiative and switch advantage throughout the entire match. It also didn't help that 4/5 of Random's team was part ground type; those compounded weakness really added up for a lot of extra damage. Now for prizes!!!

Every Pokemon that participated gets one EC/MC/DC. In addition, every pokemon gets a KO counter except for Random's Shellos. Both trainers also get 3 TC. As for myself, I get 7 (!!!) ref tokens.

Again, fantastic battle. Nice try Random, and congrats Rediamond!

Yeah, also, correction to Kaxtar: Rediamond won it when Nuzleaf knocked out Shellos without taking damage. The fact that you recovered from that is pretty amazing, Random. Now I'm off to formally evolve Kirlia and Haunter. Good game, and as some closing advice, never try to HAX Rediamond

*Sigh* Very good game Rediamond, nice swift reffing Kaxtar. This was my strategy for the game...

The one thing I saw when looking at his squad at the beginning of the game was that Locke looked like a big threat, so I sent out Shellos to try & get him out & the goal was for it to do as much damage as it can. If Sleast got the kill, I could send in Stortamus & steal the long term advantage. If not, then I would send in Capers to deal with him.
There were two things that put me on the back foot through the match: 1. Sleast's poor performance against Locke, & 2. The fact that I misplayed horribly against Cloak while I had Capers on the field. Those two things meant that winning would be much harder. This is what would eventually contributed to my loss.
Other than that, this has got to be one of the better battles around the place.

I may expand more if necessary, but in the end, I lost & that's that. Thank you for the reffing Kaxtar & thank you for the battle Rediamond. Now to cash in...
