[SET]
name: Boosting Sweeper
move 1: Agility
move 2: Crabhammer
move 3: Return
move 4: Swords Dance
item: Life Orb
ability: Hyper Cutter
nature: Adamant
evs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

<p>Now that Agility has been added to Kingler's movepool, he can now boost his somewhat lackluster Speed. Kingler can now function effectively in two different roles, as a wall breaker and as a sweeper. It is not always possible to use both Agiltiy and Swords Dance, but this set attempts to make the most of whichever boost you attain. Against offensive teams, Kingler can use Agility to outspeed and remove fast and frail offensive threats. Against stall teams, Kingler can boost his Attack and muscle his way through defensive Pokemon.</p>

<p>Despite its shaky accuracy, Crabhammer is still your best option for a physical STAB attack. Since this set utilizes both boosting moves, you only are left with one other slot. Return makes maximum use of this slot, as it has excellent neutral coverage when used in conjunction with Crabhammer; together they are resisted only by Shedinja in UU.</p>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

<p>176 Speed EVs allow Kingler to outspeed Drapion if you do not get a Speed boost, while outrunning Choice Scarf Rotom and Choice Scarf Moltres after an Agility. However, an alternate spread can be used: with 252 Speed EVs, Kingler ties with Absol, and gets the jump on certain weather sweepers such as Victreebel and Ludicolo after an Agility .</p>

<p>If you want Kingler to beat stall teams specifically, then Agility can be dropped, as Speed will no longer be a priority. The best option for the last slot is X-Scissor in this case, as it allows you to deal astounding damage to Tangrowth, and gives you the slight chance to OHKO him after Stealth Rock damage.</p>

<p>After an Agility, many opponents will resort to using priority moves to end Kingler's sweep. Ghost- and Water-types together boast resistances or immunities to almost every reliable priority attack (Shadow Sneak is the exception). With this in mind, Spiritomb and Rotom become good partners to Kingler. They can wall Hitmontop, the tier's most powerful priority user, and cripple him with Will-O-Wisp. Additionally, Rotom can switch into Blaziken on Vacuum Wave and deal major damage to it. Furthermore, these Ghost-types can block any attempts made by the opponent to Rapid Spin, which is great as Kingler really enjoys Stealth Rock. Defensive Grass-types like Tangrowth and Leafeon are the best counters to this set when X-scissor is not run; both can dispatch Kingler with STAB Grass moves. Having a partner to get rid of these threats is vital to Kingler's success. A Mixed Venusaur can use a powerful Sludge Bomb to remove Grass-type walls. He also has the benefit of resisting the Water- and Electric-type attacks directed at Kingler.</p>

There is really no point in the 80 HP EVs when using Life Orb. I would just throw them into Speed. There is no downside to using max Speed on a set like this one, really.

Not sure as to the viability of this, but you need to fix up the set first. Need to use all 508 EVs as well as explain what they're for (unless they are standard 252/252)

Swords Dance and Agility might be a bit difficult to pull off at the same time. Crabhammer + Return is okay. X-Scissor might be the best option for slot 4. Most Steel-types in UU are weak to Crabhammer. You get the added benefit of hitting Dark, Psychich, and mono-Grass-types (ie Tangrowth) for Super Effective damage.

I don't agree cm, kingler isn't getting passed tangrowth anytime soon and while getting agility + swords dance may be difficult, it is beneficial to have both moves so that this set can beat stall and offense (with sd and agility respectively).

I apologise I meant to put 176 Spe. I think that's all Kingler needs, it beats 91+ base speed Scarfed Pokemon. It isn't the most effective sweeper, but it can work, and often does work, and its Kingler's most viable option by a long shot.

Thanks for fixing it. Before I approve it, can you explain where the 80 HP EVs help? Otherwise it might be worth it to tie with Absol by using max Speed.

I also want you to explain that Agility + Swords Dance is not always possible, but that Agility helps it beat fast and frail offensive teams while Swords Dance lets it plow through some stall teams. (You can mention that X-Scissor can go over Agility if you want it to specifically beat stall).

I'm going to test this tonight.

80 HP is simply leftover EVs, so serves no specific purpose. a 4/252/252 Spread is an perfectly fine alternative. I will explain what you asked. Where should I put it. Maybe a Paragraph below the set?

Just add it quickly in point form below the set (with the other things).

POST TEST RESULTS:

I tested this over Kabutops in one of my teams and found it to be surprisingly good. It worked exactly like it needed to, I sent it in on a weak physical attacker and they sent in Milotic as I Swords Danced only to be nailed by a +2 Life Orb Return dealing 67.7% - 79.6%, KOing it after Spikes and Stealth Rock. This cleared the path for my Life Orb Arcanine sweep. Double-Edge might be worth a mention to possibly KO with just Stealth Rock.

I also found time to use agility against a Scarf Blaziken's Flare Blitz and it took out a couple Pokemon before it was worn down by LO and priority.

EDIT: Duh Double-Edge is illegal.

Well, you can start writing it when you want, but it's advisable to wait for a majority of the relevant QC team to approve before starting since they may ask you to change things, or not approve at all, and we'd prefer if your effort was not wasted.

Additionally, "Double-Edge might be worth a mention to possibly KO with just Stealth Rock." Double-Edge is illegal with Agility, so it may be worth nothing why Double-Edge is not suggested.

I'm just going to say that I also approve of this set going on-site. I've used this exact set with both Agility and Swords Dance, and it's a pretty amazing sweeper when its counters are weakened. To help me achieve both an Agility and Swords Dance boost, though, I paired it up with Uxie for dual screen and memento support, which helps significantly. It may be a good idea to mention this as a team option, as it's incredibly beneficial and increases your chances at setting up and sweeping. I know that dual screen support is good for literally any boosting sweeper, but because Kingler is using two different boosting moves, the support is invaluable.

I'm not a QC member, by the way.

Looks fine. Has trouble with Tangrowth as well. Personally I think Agility + 3 attacks should be the main set because I find it difficult to Swords Dance up with its slow sweep and ability to be revenged easily.

Awesome! I shall begin a full write up of this set. I have almost finished all my exams, so you should have the full write up by Saturday at the latest.

I was testing this set out, and I also don't like Agility+Swordsdance, Kingler most times isnt going to have the leeway to use both. I would suggest a slight variation of the set:

name: Agility
move 1: Crabhammer
move 2: Return
move 3: Agility
move 4: Substitute
item: Leichi Berry
nature: Adamant
evs: 68 HP / 252 Atk / 176Spe

As noted, It gets neutral coverage on everything with the exception of Shedninja(and with the prevalence of Stealth rock, it should be almost non-existent) This way, its attacks are slightly more powerful, and it could attempt to sweep, and with no recoil damage with Life Orb. However, it is more vulnerable to priorty moves. I also changed the HP evs, to 68 so the Liechi berry will activate at 25%. There are still 12 Evs lingering around, so those could possibily go into speed or defense.

[SET COMMENTS]

<p>Now that Agility has been allotted to Kingler's movepool, he can now boost his somewhat lackluster Speed. Thanks to Kingler's newfound ability to boost its somewhat lackluster speed, Kingler can now function effecively in two different roles, as both a wall breaker and a sweeper. It is not always possible to get to use both Agiltiy and Swords Dance, but this set attempts to make the most of whichever boost you do end up attaining. Since this set utilizes both boosting moves, you only are left with one other slot. Return maximizes this slot, as it has excellent neutral coverage when used in conjunction with Crabhammer, and is only resisted by Shedinja.</p>

<p> <P>176 Speed EVs allow allows Kingler to outspeed Drapion if you do not get a Speed boost, while can't boost your Speed speed, and Choice Scarf Rotom and Choice Scarf Moltres are outsped after an Agility. However, an alternate spread alternative Speed EV can be utilized utilised. With 252 Speed EVs, Kingler ties with Absol, and gets the jump on certain weather sweepers such as Victreebel and Ludicolo after an Agility.</p>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
<p>If you want Kingler to specifically beat stall teams, then Return and Agility can be dropped for Double-Edge and X-Scissor. At +2, Milotic is KOd by Double-Edge with Stealth Rock, and there is a small chance Tangrowth will be is 1HKOd after taking Stealth Rock Damage

<p>If you want Kingler to specifically beat stall teams, then Agility can be dropped, as Speed will no longer be a priority. In this case, it may be wise to get rid of Return and pick up Double-Edge, as Milotic will always be OHKOed by Double-Edge after switching in to Stealth Rock. The best option for the last slot is X-Scissor in this case, as it allows you to deal astounding damage to Tangrowth, and gives you the slight chance to OHKO him after Stealth Rock damage.</p>

<p>Like many sweepers, Kingler greatly benefits from Entry Hazards. With three layers of Spikes and Stealth Rock, Kingler can guarantee to 1HKO Milotic and Tangrowth with Return and X-Scissor respectively.</p>
[Honestly, I don't think this paragraph is necessary, it was really touched on already]

<p>After an Agility, many opponents will resort to using priority Priority moves to end Kingler's sweep. Becuase of this, Spiritomb or Rotom become good partners for Kingler. They can wall Hitmontop, the tier's most powerful priority user, and cripple him Hitmontop with Will-O-Wisp. Spiritomb also has the advantage of totally walling Absol, another present priority user. Furthermore, these Ghost-types Ghost Types can block any attempts made by the opponent to Rapid Spin, which is great as Kingler really enjoys Stealth Rock. Defensive Grass-types Grass Types like Tangrowth and Leafeon [any mention of Venusaur?] are the best counters to this set when X-scissor is not run; both can dispatch of Kingler with STAB Grass-type moves. Having a partner to get rid of these threats is vital to Kingler's Kinglers success. A Mixed Venusaur can use a powerful Sludge Bomb to remove the Grass-type Grass Type walls. It also has the benefit of resisting the Water and Electric attacks directed at Kingler.</p>

Why is the set called "Agility" when Swords Dance is listed as well? Perhaps you can rename it to "Boosting Sweeper" or something like that because right now it's a bit misleading.

Good point, I'll quickly change the name.

EDIT: Uploading.

Glad to see this is on site. Just a quick query, would it be worth adding the ability Hyper Cutter to the analysis, or is it obvious enough already?
