[OVERVIEW]

Krookodile's high Attack, respectable Speed, and amazing offensive typing make it one of the best offensive checks to Pokemon like Aegislash, Mew, and Galarian Slowbro. Few Pokemon resist the combination of Earthquake and Knock Off, which dents even neutral targets such as Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss. Intimidate lets Krookodile switch into resisted and neutral hits such as Lycanroc-D's Stone Edge without getting too worn down. It also helps prevent late-game sweeps from Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Salamence. Moves like Stealth Rock and Taunt let Krookodile compress utility roles, and its ability to run a plethora of items, like Life Orb, Leftovers, Choice Scarf, Choice Band, and resist Berries, makes for a key factor in its unpredictability and versatility. It's one of the best Choice Scarf users in UU, capable of revenge killing threats like Nihilego and Thundurus. With Choice Band, it can remove common answers to it like Amoonguss more easily. However, Krookodile is threatened by physical attackers like Scizor and Lycanroc-D even after Intimidate, and its special bulk leaves it vulnerable to special attackers like Nidoqueen and Aegislash. Weaknesses to common types like Grass, Water, and Fighting hinder its defensive utility and leave it helpless against common Pokemon like Keldeo, Rotom-W, and Tangrowth. Coverage from Electric-types like Raikou's Scald and Thundurus's Focus Blast prevents Krookodile from checking them despite its Electric immunity, and even with coverage like Fire Fang, Buzzwole and physically defensive Tangrowth wall Krookodile. Krookodile also faces competition from Rhyperior as a Stealth Rock setter on bulky offense teams due to the latter's better bulk and similar offensive attributes.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Stone Edge
move 4: Close Combat / Toxic
ability: Intimidate
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Knock Off pressures walls that rely on their items, like Celesteela and Chansey, and discourages Pokemon like Rotom-H and Salamence from switching in. Stone Edge threatens Pokemon immune to Ground like Gyarados, Moltres, and Rotom-H. Close Combat lets Krookodile hit targets such as Zarude, Chansey, and opposing Krookodile harder. Toxic cripples switch-ins such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth, but since others like Amoonguss and Jungle Healing Zarude are immune or resilient to it, it's quite matchup reliant. Darkest Lariat is useful to hit Pokemon like Rotom-W harder after they've had their items removed and comes in handy against the niche Grassy Seed Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus. Lash Out serves as a good way to punish Intimidate from opposing Krookodile and Salamence and also punishes Defog from the latter, but it has no use outside of that because Krookodile outspeeds the Rotom-H formes and Moltres, the only other relevant Defoggers. Fire Fang OHKOes Scizor, which is helpful for teams lacking good answers to it like Moltres. Stealth Rock can be used to take advantage of Krookodile's ability to force switches against Pokemon such as Mew and Nihilego, but it should only be used when the role compression is necessary, and it requires very good prediction. Choice Scarf turns Krookodile into an amazing revenge killer, outspeeding key Pokemon and sweepers such as Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, Thundurus, +1 Jolly Gyarados, +1 Jolly Kommo-o, and +2 Modest Celesteela.

This set fits well on offense, bulky offense, and balance teams that need a fast revenge killer. These kinds of teams appreciate Krookodile's defensive utility in its two immunities and Intimidate. Even though Intimidate allows Krookodile to take on physical attacks a bit better, it shouldn't be relied on, so teammates like Aegislash and Tangrowth help it against wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Scizor. Assault Vest Tangrowth takes on threatening Water-types such as Primarina, Rotom-W, and Keldeo well, and Zarude can pressure said Water-types and bring in Krookodile with U-turn against Pokemon like Moltres. Strong wallbreakers such as Primarina, Chandelure, and Thundurus-T can get past Krookodile's checks such as Buzzwole and Tapu Bulu, allowing it to spam its STAB moves more freely. In return, Krookodile removes Pokemon like Nihilego. Krookodile is helpless against Grass-types, so partners that can pressure them like Nidoqueen, Mamoswine, and Galarian Moltres are great. Rotom-H is another good teammate that can scare away Grass-types and brings Krookodile in on checks like Nihilego. Entry hazard support from teammates such as Rhyperior, Kommo-o, and Mew is key to weaken checks like Scizor and Kommo-o and help teammates such as Lycanroc-D and Nihilego sweep. Salamence, Aegislash, and Moltres ensure Buzzwole is not given free turns to wallbreak, as it can freely come into Krookodile.

[SET]
name: Stealth Rock
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Stealth Rock
move 4: Taunt
item: Chople Berry / Life Orb / Leftovers
ability: Intimidate
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Krookodile's role compression and item versatility let it perform on both hyper offense teams and on more defensive ones, like balance and bulky offense. With Life Orb, this set fits on hyper offense teams as a great lead. If running Leftovers or a Berry, this set fits on bulky offense and balance teams, which appreciate Krookodile's utility, immunities, and ability to face and potentially remove Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Nihilego due to a Berry. Knock Off is useful for checks like Amoonguss, Rotom-W, and Celesteela, crippling them for Krookodile's teammates. Stealth Rock wears down Pokemon like Celesteela and Tangrowth for teammates like Scizor and Choice Specs Primarina. Taunt prevents Stealth Rock and Defog from Pokemon like Rhyperior, Seismitoad, Rotom-W, and Moltres. Chople Berry lets Krookodile take Lycanroc-D's Close Combat and set up Stealth Rock or attack with Earthquake. It also helps Krookodile take Thundurus formes' Focus Blast to then weaken or KO them. Alternatively, Life Orb lets Krookodile pressure Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Mew, and Scizor more easily, while Leftovers offsets entry hazard damage and gives Krookodile longevity to keep threats like Nihilego and Aegislash in check more easily. Rindo Berry is another option to survive +1 Nihilego's Grass Knot and OHKO back with Earthquake. A Jolly nature lets Krookodile outspeed and use Taunt on Pokemon such as Gyarados, Rotom-H, and Chandelure.

Setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Galarian Moltres work well with Krookodile, as it can set Stealth Rock up and weaken their checks such as Diancie. Special attackers like Thundurus and Nihilego appreciate Krookodile denting and crippling their checks in Chansey and Celesteela with Knock Off and Taunt, paving their way to sweep. Amoonguss serves as a nice Water- and Grass-type switch-in, checking Primarina, Keldeo, and Zarude for Krookodile, and Krookodile in return checks Steel-types like Aegislash. Starmie and Thundurus compensate for Krookodile's lower Speed tier and remove Pokemon like Buzzwole and Keldeo. Starmie also removes entry hazards for Krookodile with Rapid Spin. In return, Krookodile pressures foes like Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro and Chansey for Starmie. Spikes Mew forms an amazing hazard stacking core with Krookodile. Furthermore, Mew can pressure Salamence with Ice Beam, and together, they can spam Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from foes like Rotom-H, Scizor, and Galarian Slowbro to make their hazards even more annoying. They also have good defensive synergy, with Krookodile taking on resisted moves like Lycanroc-D's Crunch and Mew absorbing special hits from Pokemon like Nidoqueen. Zarude and Tangrowth are good answers to Rotom-W, one of the only Defoggers that Krookodile struggles with, and absorb Water- and Grass-type moves from foes like Crawdaunt and Tapu Bulu. Checks to Zarude and Buzzwole, like and Salamence, are very appreciated. Salamence also forms a double Intimidate core with Krookodile, weakening Pokemon like Jirachi and stopping setup sweepers like Gyarados from getting out of control.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Stone Edge
move 4: Close Combat / Toxic
item: Choice Band
ability: Intimidate
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Earthquake and Knock Off threaten a large portion of the metagame and together have almost unresisted coverage, hitting even Amoonguss hard thanks to Choice Band. Stone Edge hits Pokemon immune to Ground like Salamence, Moltres, and Galarian Moltres. Close Combat hits Zarude and Chansey harder. Toxic cripples common switch-ins, such as Buzzwole and Tapu Bulu. Lash Out punishes Intimidate Salamence and Krookodile for switching in and Salamence for using Defog. Darkest Lariat hits Rotom-W and Colbur Berry Mew harder after Knock Off, also hitting Grassy Seed Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro. Fire Fang OHKOes Scizor and reliably hits offensive Buzzwole. Stealth Rock capitalizes on Krookodile's ability to force switches, but it requires near-perfect predictions and should be used only if the role compression is needed. Choice Band gives Krookodile extra power to break through would-be checks like Amoonguss and defensive Kommo-o, notably 2HKOing the former with Earthquake and OHKOing Scizor with Fire Fang.

Krookodile fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where it acts as a potent wallbreaker and clears the way for late-game sweepers like Substitute + Calm Mind Primarina and Nasty Plot Mew by removing threats like Amoonguss and Chansey. Krookodile's immunities and defensive utility in Intimidate are also appreciated. Due to its frailty, Krookodile loves VoltTurn support from teammates like Scizor, Jirachi, and Rotom-W, which can bring it in safely against Pokemon such as Jirachi and Aegislash to start wreaking havoc. Rotom-H is an especially great teammate, since it can bring in Krookodile with Volt Switch and scares out switch-ins like Tangrowth, Zarude, and Buzzwole. Entry hazard support from allies like Nihilego, Kommo-o, and Mew is greatly appreciated to weaken checks like Tangrowth. Late-game sweepers like Choice Scarf Mienshao and Dragon Dance Salamence appreciate Krookodile weakening checks like Amoonguss, Celesteela, and Buzzwole. Grass-types like Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth make great teammates, as they sponge Water-, and Grass-type hits from Pokemon like Keldeo and Zarude, while Krookodile can scare out Salamence and Moltres for them. Krookodile easily beating Galarian Slowbro is appreciated by teammates like Keldeo, Primarina, and Amoonguss, as Assault Vest sets are a major roadblock for them and they can become setup fodder for Calm Mind sets if Choice-locked.

Other Options
=============

Passho Berry gives Krookodile a chance to eliminate threats like Crawdaunt, Rotom-W, and Raikou. Krookodile can opt for a more offensive Choice Scarf set with Moxie, letting it accumulate Attack boosts as it KOes enemies. However, the utility that Intimidate offers is more worth it to weaken Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, and Krookodile can't break past Grass-types and Buzzwole without enough boosts. High Horsepower should be used in place of Earthquake if Tapu Bulu is on Krookodile's team, as Grassy Terrain weakens Earthquake. Choice Band Aerial Ace hits Buzzwole very hard, but that's it. Choice Band Assurance can nail Pokemon like Amoonguss as they switch in, but it requires specific conditions and good prediction

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Tangrowth check Krookodile very well and are only bothered by Knock Off. Both cause big damage with Giga Drain and incapacitate a team member with Spore or Sleep Powder. However, Amoonguss has to wary of Choice Band Earthquake, as it is 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage. Zarude and Tapu Bulu switch into Krookodile's STAB moves and can recover with Jungle Healing or Horn Leech.

**Water-types**: Rotom-W and Gyarados are immune to Ground and can take advantage of Krookodile being Choice-locked into Earthquake. The former can remove Stealth Rock with Defog, while the latter can get a free turn of setup. Krookodile also can't take any Water-type hits from Crawdaunt, Azumarill, Primarina, and Keldeo, but they don't like to switch in directly into its moves. Crawdaunt is also easier to switch around, since only one of its STAB types threatens Krookodile.

**Fighting-types**: Buzzwole walls any Krookodile set. It resists both of Krookodile's STAB moves, can tank any hit, has reliable recovery in Roost, and can threaten Krookodile back with its own STAB moves. Kommo-o, Mienshao, Keldeo and Cobalion also threaten Krookodile greatly. The former has enough bulk to take non-Choice Band attacks and KO back, while the latter three outspeed non-Choice Scarf sets, with Choice Scarf Mienshao outspeeding even those. However, Mienshao and Cobalion should scout for Chople Berry and Choice Scarf sets.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Despite its ability and good defensive typing, Krookodile has subpar bulk and lacks reliable recovery, meaning it gets worn down quite quickly and can't switch into Pokemon such as Scizor and Mamoswine. Pokemon like Chandelure, Nidoqueen, and Moltres hurt it very badly with even resisted special STAB moves due to its bad special bulk.

(it's mostly good so it's more comments than anything)

[OVERVIEW]

  • Krookodile's invaluable immunity to Electric and resistances have helped it become one of the best offensive checks (if you mention immunities/resistances you are actually talking about defensively checking, which Krook can do as well sometimes, so it may be better to just say "check" without a prefix) to wallbreakers like Zeraora and Lycanroc-D (I would personally just use Nidoqueen here instead of Lycanroc-D, since you only check Lycan with scarf or chople, and you mention that in your third point below which is a better spot for it). It's Its typing is also great offensively, as few Pokémon resist Ground / Dark, and STAB Earthquake and Knock Off lets it threaten the aforementioned wallbreakers and other Pokemon like Jirachi, Slowking, and Nidoqueen (Nidoqueen is also a wallbreaker so maybe group it with the other ones and leave Jirachi and Slowking here).
  • Access to an amazing ability in Intimidate lets Krookodile act as more efficient check to threats like Lycanroc-D, Zeraora, and Salamence (the vast majority of mences are Special, which can do decent damage to Krook if they have Hurricane or even Draco sometimes, so maybe use something else like Zygarde-10% or Rhyperior. I would still consider leaving out Lycanroc-D also until your next point when you bring up items), strengthening its defensive capabilities.
  • Due to its amazing offensive typing, ability, and good Speed tier, Krookodile serves one of the best Choice Scarf users in UU, capable of revenge killing key threats like Victini, Zeraora, and Terrakion Lycanroc-D and cleaning weakened teams.
  • Moves like Stealth Rock and Taunt let Krookodile compress utility roles with offensive power, being able to prevent other setters like Chansey and Skarmory from setting hazards up and threaten lead Mew with Knock Off. (Knock Off actually significantly hinders all of these, Chansey, Skarmory, and lead Mew.)
  • Good but not amazing Speed tier leaves Krookodile outsped by other threats such as Victini, Kyurem, and Keldeo. (Krook's main set is Scarf so I would mention "without a Choice Scarf" somewhere here, as Krook outspeeds otherwise)
  • Bad special bulk leaves it vulnerable to special attacks from threats such as Nidoqueen Kyurem and Galarian Moltres. (It KO's Nidoqueen and is faster so not a big threat to it unless you make a bad switch)
  • Even after Intimidate, Pokémon like Terrakion Conkeldurr and Azumarill can still OHKO it with their super effective STAB moves.
  • Weakness to common types like Fairy, Water, and Grass hinder its defensive utility.
  • Abundance of Fairy-types hinders it ability to spam Knock Off, and most of them have good matchups against Krookodile, like Azumarill, Primarina, and Tapu Bulu.

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Knock Off pressures walls that rely a lot on their items to function well, like Celesteela and Chansey while also discouraging Pokemon like Mew and Slowking from switching in.
  • Stone Edge gives Krookodile EdgeQuake coverage, letting it threaten Pokemon like Gyarados, Galarian Moltres, and Rotom-H.
  • Darkest Lariat aids Krookodile in acting as an answer to Grassy Seed sweepers like Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus as well as Cosmic Power Mew, and is useful against Pokemon that already lost their item due to Knock Off, like Rotom-W and Celesteela (this applies to almost every Pokemon so probably don't need these two examples).
  • Close Combat lets Krookodile hit targets such as Zarude, Chansey, and opposing Krookodile harder. (since you have CC slashed second, I would at least mention why Lariat would be preferred)
  • High Horsepower should be used in place of Earthquake if Tapu Bulu is in the same team as Krookodile, as Earthquake's power is weakened under Grassy Terrain.
  • Choice Scarf turns Krookodile into a major threat and amazing revenge killer, outspeeding key Pokemon such as Zeraora, Terrakion, Victini.
  • Maximum investment in Attack and Speed with a Jolly nature lets Krookodile be as fast and strong as possible, outspeeding Pokémon like Choice Scarf Chandelure and Jolly Gyarados after Dragon Dance.

  • This set fits well on Offense, Bulky Offense, and Balance teams that need a form of Speed control, an Electric- and Psychic-immunity, and a Knock Off user. These kinds of teams appreciate Krookodile's defensive utility in the form of its two immunities and access to Intimidate.
  • Even though Krookodile can take on physical attacks a bit better due to Intimidate, it shouldn't be used as a wall defensively (I think you mean to say this, since I don't think anyone really thinks to use it as a "wall"), so teammates like Skarmory and Tangrowth help it by easing off the pressure from wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Zeraora.
  • Strong wallbreakers such as Terrakion, Primarina, Choice Band Victini, and Thundurus-T can get past Krookodile's checks such as Skarmory and Tapu Bulu, allowing it to spam its STAB moves more freely.
  • Krookodile is helpless against Grass-types, so partners that can pressure them like Nidoqueen, Mamoswine, and special Victini are great. Victini is notable for being able to pivot out of Pokemon like Chansey and Slowking with U-turn to bring Krookodile in.
  • Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss are excellent partners, as they take on threatening Water-types such as Primarina, Rotom-W, and Azumarill well for Krookodile. Tapu Bulu acts as an offensive check to other Water-types like Crawdaunt and Keldeo too. (I would mention terrain and that it would need to run High Horsepower here since you mentioned it earlier)
  • Electric-types like Zeraora and Thundurus also pressure Water-types like Keldeo for Krookodile. Rotom-H in particular can scare away Grass-types with Overheat and pivot out of checks like Nihilego and Chansey to bring Krookodile in. (I'd consider moving the Rotom-H mention to your point about Krookodile being helpless against grass types, since it's a bit odd here right after you talk about pressuring water types)
  • Pokemon like Alakazam, Azumarill, and Primarina make for great teammates, as they can pressure and remove Fighting- and Dark-types (add in a few examples, like Conkeldurr and Galarian Moltres), letting Krookodile spam Knock Off more easily. Krookodile in return can check Poison- and Steel-types like Nihilego, Nidoqueen, and Jirachi for them.
  • Entry hazard support from teammates such as Skarmory, Kommo-o, and Mew is key to weaken checks like Scizor and Kommo-o, allowing Krookodile to remove them more easily and help teammates such as Lycanroc-D and Nihielgo sweep.

[SET COMMENTS]

  • This set fits best on Hyper Offense and Offense teams, as Krookodile's good Speed tier, power, and utility let it serve as a great suicide lead
  • Taunt prevents Pokemon such as Rhyperior, Kommo-o, and Nidoqueen (it's very dangerous to Taunt Kommo in this situation, and you would just want to KO Queen, so maybe use another example like Skarmory and change Stealth Rock to hazards) from setting Stealth Rock up. Taunt also prevents Pokemon such as Rotom-H from removing Stealth Rock with Defog.
  • Chople Berry turns Krookodile into a great answer to Lycanroc-D and Terrakion (I wouldn't call it a "great" answer, it's more of a trade off, so I would relax the language a bit to something along the lines of "allows it to answer". Since Rak is gone and you may also need to shorten this point and focus on only Lycanroc-D, unless you want to reach and add B- Cobalion), letting it take a super effective Close Combat from them and either set up Stealth Rock or attack them with Earthquake. It also helps Krookodile live a Focus Blast from Thundurus-T and Alakazam and Close Combat from Zeraora to then weaken or KO them for its teammates.
  • Focus Sash aids Krookodile in the matchup against leads like Ribombee (I haven't seen a Ribombee lead in a mean minute. I think you still get your point across without mentioning "leads" specifically) and lets it guarantee that Stealth Rock is put into the field before it is KOed against other Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Keldeo.
  • Intimidate is used to ease the matchup against Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Zeraora, and lead Mew.
  • The give EV spread and a Jolly nature lets Krookodile outspeed Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Skarmory, and Nidoqueen, preventing all three from setting up entry hazards and OHKOing the latter with Earthquake (you outspeed all three of these with with Adamant as well, even if they run max speed, so better to illustrate the use of Jolly by using Pokemon like Rotoms, Chandelure, Gyarados, etc., that you outspeed with Jolly but not with Adamant)

  • Since this set fits well on hyper offense teams, partners that can set up dual screens such as Grimmsnarl and Alolan Ninetales are great, as Krookodile complements them by setting up Stealth Rock and allowing their teammates to sweep more easily.
  • Krookodile's ability to force trades with Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Terrakion (rip Terrak ; ;) through the combination of Intimidate and Chople Berry is greatly appreciated by teammates such as Gyarados, Galarian Moltres, and Thundurus-T.
  • Setup sweepers such as Kommo-o, Galarian Moltres, and Azumarill work well with Krookodile, as it can set Stealth Rock up and weaken their checks, such as Celesteela and Amoonguss (I would find something better than Amoonguss here since Kommo-o and GMolt handle it fine, and Azu will only stay in on it if it's at +6 already even if Moong is low HP. Krook without sash actually doesn't handle a lot of Azu's defensive checks well, since they are mostly grass types or things that resist jet, like Kyurem and Keldeo, which also threaten Krookodile. Krook just helps with certain offensive Elec checks to Azu like Zeraora or Magnezone, so I would consider using one of those instead, or just not mentioning Azu here.)
  • Special attackers like Thundurus-T, Galarian Moltres, and Nihilego appreciate Krookodile denting and crippling their checks in Chansey and Celesteela with Knock Off and Taunt, paving their way to sweep.
  • Spikers such as Skarmory and Mew can form a hazard stacking core with Krookodile, weakening Pokemon like Chansey and Tangrowth and paving the way for sweepers like Nihilego and Crawdaunt. (I would mention that this is for non-HO offense if you even want to keep it, as you probably aren't stacking hazards on HO unless you're compressing the role into something like Mew entirely)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Krookodile can opt for a more offensive Choice Scarf set with Moxie, letting it accumulate Attack boosts as it KOes enemies. However, the utility that Intimidate offers is more worth it (why, exactly, is it more worth it? I'd just give a quick example), and Krookodile can't break past Grass-types, Celesteela, and Skarmory without being locked into the right move and having enough boosts.
  • Fire Fang can be used to surprise Scizor and Tapu Bulu, but it only serves for those two, and forces Krookodile to give up more useful moves like Close Combat. (You are the Krook expert so I trust this is a thing even though I haven't seen it. But if you keep it I'd at least move it below the other points as they seem more relevant)
  • A mixed lure set with Earthquake / Knock Off / Sludge Bomb / Stealth Rock and a Life Orb is an option to threaten Grass-types such as Amoonguss, Tangrowth, and Tapu Bulu. Earthquake has a good chance to 2HKO Amoonguss while Sludge Bomb always 2HKOes Tangrowth and can OHKO Tapu Bulu. However, giving up EdgeQuake coverage or Close Combat leaves Krookodile too vulnerable to threats like Zarude and Galarian Moltres.
  • Stealth Rock can be used on the Choice Scarf set to take advantage of Krookodile's ability to outspeed the whole unboosted tier and force switches through offensive pressure against Pokemon such as Zeraora and Nihilego set up Stealth Rock for free. However, unless the opponent is guaranteed to switch, Krookodile may take unnecessary damage and be KOed, letting Pokemon like Terrakion run free.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Tangrowth wall Krookodile effortlessly, and are only bothered by Knock Off (if Amoonguss is chipped, it can potentially be 2HKO'd by Krook with the switch in damage + an EQ for about 40%, so I'd say effortlessly only applies to Tangrowth). Both cause big damage with Giga Drain to it and can put it or its teammates to sleep with Spore and Sleep Powder, respectively. Tapu Bulu is also only bothered by Knock Off and can recover the health lost from moves like Stone Edge with Horn Leech or Synthesis. However, it does have to watch out for Sludge Bomb if Krookodile is holding a Life Orb.

**Fairy-types**: Azumarill, Primarina, and Hatterene threaten Krookodile with their STAB moves, but don't appreciate losing their items to Knock Off and taking an Earthquake. The former can get past the Speed issue with Aqua Jet, though. Tapu Bulu can easily switch into Krookodile and threaten it with its Grass-type STAB moves.

**Water-types**: Rotom-W and Gyarados are immune to Earthquake. The former can cripple Krookodile with Will-O-Wisp and hurt it badly with Hydro Pump, while the latter can take advantage of Krookodile being Choice-locked into Earthquake to set up. Krookodile also can't take any hits from Choice Band Azumarill and Crawdaunt, Choice Specs Primarina (it can't take Prima hit with or without specs), and Keldeo, even though they don't like to switch in directly into its moves.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Despite its ability, Krookodile still has subpar bulk and lacks reliable recovery, meaning it can't take repeated non-resisted hits from the likes of Zeraora, Lycanroc-D, and Salamence. (It's true that Krook can't take repeated hits from these, but I wouldn't really call Salamence or even Zeraora a "strong wallbreaker". It's almost like you're talking more about Krook getting worn down by continuous damage, as opposed to getting punched hard by a wallbreaker like Conkeldurr, so I would consider revising this point to either more expressly be about wallbreakers or be something like repeated damage and include hazard damage too.)

**Special Attackers**: Pokemon like Chandelure, Nidoqueen, and Galarian Moltres hurt Krookodile very badly with their special moves, despite their STAB moves being either resisted or neutral (are you suggesting they hurt Krook badly with their resisted attacks too, or just their neutral ones? It's a bit unclear). Other special attackers such as Primarina, Alakazam, and Kyurem completely destroy Krookodile with their coverage or STAB moves.

here's an AM check -- i know mantis already did one but i got permission from band bc he's updated it / added band krookodile / etc! usual format applies :)

[OVERVIEW]

  • Krookodile's combination of high Attack, okay Speed and amazing offensive typing have helped it become one of the best offensive checks to Pokemon like Aegislash, Mew, and Chandelure. Few Pokémon resist the combination of Ground and Dark, and STAB Earthquake and Knock Off are capable of denting even neutral targets such as Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss.
  • Access to an amazing ability in Intimidate lets Krookodile weaken physical attackers such as Mienshao and Scizor for teammates like Moltres and Amoonguss to take them on better. This structure doesn't really capture what Intimidate does -- the Mienshao mention is especially weird because you'd almost never want to switch into Mienshao with Krookodile. I think it's better to say that Intimidate accomplishes two things -- it allows Krookodile to switch in to resisted / neutral physical hits without taking heavy damage (ex: scarf zarude lariat, opposing krookodiles, rachi iron head), and helps stop late-game sweeps from threats like Lycanroc, DD Mence, and Gyarados.
  • Due to its STAB moves and good Speed, Krookodile serves as one of the best Choice Scarf users in UU, capable of revenge killing key threats like Noivern, Aegislash, and Lycanroc-D. Krookodile can also use a Choice Band to remove common answers to it like Amoonguss more easily. Aegi is a weird mention here because if anything, scarf Krook is worse at revenging Aegislash than lefties / chople. I also wouldn't call Noivern a key threat (sorry lily). I'd use Lycanroc-D, Thundurus formes, and NP Mew as examples personally.
  • Moves like Stealth Rock and Taunt let Krookodile compress utility roles on hyper offense teams, being able to prevent other setters like Kommo-o and Seismitoad from setting hazards up and crippling them with Knock Off. The Knock Off at the end is a little funky (especially because i probably wouldn't stay in to knock Kommo-o or even toad in a lot of cases).
  • Krookodile's bad bulk is not compensated by Intimidate most times, as it is still threatened by physical attackers like Scizor and Lycanroc-D even after Intimidate. Its special bulk leaves it vulnerable to special attackers like Nidoqueen and Aegislash.
  • Weaknesses to common types like Grass, Water, and Fighting hinder its defensive utility and leave it helpess against common Pokémon like Keldeo, Rotom-W, and Tangrowth.
  • Coverage from Electric-types like Raikou's Scald and Thundurus's Focus Blast prevent Krookodile from checking them despite its Electric immunity.

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Knock Off pressures walls that rely a lot on their items to function well, like Celesteela and Chansey, while also discouraging Pokemon like Mew and Salamence from switching in.
  • Stone Edge gives Krookodile EdgeQuake coverage, letting it threaten Pokemon like Gyarados, Moltres, and Rotom-H.
  • Close Combat lets Krookodile hit targets such as Zarude, Chansey, and opposing Krookodile harder.
  • Stealth Rock can be used on the Choice Scarf set to take advantage of Krookodile's ability to outspeed the whole unboosted tier and force switches through offensive pressure against Pokemon such as Mew and Nihilego set up Stealth Rock for free. However, unless the opponent is guaranteed to switch, Krookodile may take unnecessary damage and be KOed. The opponent is never guaranteed to switch -- I think it's better to simply say "However, locking into Stealth Rocks is punished by set-up sweepers or smart prediction." or something like that that's more general.
  • High Horsepower should be used in place of Earthquake if Tapu Bulu is in the same team as Krookodile, as Earthquake's power is weakened under Grassy Terrain. Unsure if this belongs here or is better suited for OO.
  • Choice Scarf turns Krookodile into an amazing revenge killer, outspeeding key Pokemon such as Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Thundurus.
  • 252 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature let Krookodile outspeed +1 Jolly Gyarados and +2 Modest Celesteela. +1 Kommo-o also worth a mention imo.

  • This set fits well on offense, bulky offense, and balance teams that need a fast revenge killer. These kinds of teams appreciate Krookodile's defensive utility in the form of its two immunities and access to Intimidate.
  • Even though Krookodile can take on physical attacks a bit better due to Intimidate, it shouldn't be used defensively, so teammates like Amoonguss and Tangrowth help it by easing off the pressure from wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Scizor.
  • Strong wallbreakers such as Primarina, Chandelure, and Thundurus-T can get past Krookodile's checks such as Celesteela and Tapu Bulu, allowing it to spam its STAB moves more freely.
  • Krookodile is helpless against Grass-types, so partners that can pressure them like Nidoqueen, Mamoswine, and Chandelure are great.. Rotom-H is another good teammate that can scare away Grass-types and pivots out of checks like Nihilego to bring Krookodile in.
  • Electric-types like Raikou and Thundurus also pressure Water-types like Keldeo for Krookodile.
  • Entry hazard support from teammates such as Rhyperior, Kommo-o, and Mew is key to weaken checks like Scizor and Kommo-o, allowing Krookodile to remove them more easily and help teammates such as Lycanroc-D and Nihilego sweep.

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Earthquake and Knock Off threaten a large portion of the metagame and together have almost unresisted coverage, hitting key targets such as Chandelure, Mew, and Raikou super effectively while still hitting hard other foes like Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss for neutral damage.
  • Stone Edge gives Krookodile EdgeQuake coverage, giving it almost perfect coverage to hit Pokemon immune to Ground like Salamence and Galarian Moltres.
  • Close Combat hits Pokemon that don't mind Krookodile's EdgeQuake coverage, like Zarude, Chansey, and Celesteela. Knock does more than CC to Celesteela unless its item is removed, so I don't think it's worth a mention here.
  • Toxic cripples common Krookodile switch-ins, such as Buzzwole and physically defensive Tangrowth.
  • Stealth Rock capitalizes on Krookodile's ability to force switches to get entry hazards up safely, but requires near perfect predictions and should be used only if the role compression is needed.
  • High Horsepower should be used in place of Earthquake if Tapu Bulu is in the same team as Krookodile, as Earthquake's power is weakened under Grassy Terrain. see above
  • Choice Band gives Krookodile extra power to break through would-be checks like Amoonguss and Celesteela.
  • A Jolly nature and 252 Speed EVs let Krookodile outspeed Pokémon such as Moltres, Rotom-H, and Chandelure.

  • Krookodile fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where it acts as a potent wallbreaker and clears the way for late-game sweepers like SubCM Raikou and Nasty Plot Mew. Krookodile's immunities and defensive utility in Intimidate are also appreciated.
  • Due to its frailty, Krookodile loves VoltTurn support from teammates like Scizor, Jirachi, and Rotom-W, which can bring it in safely against Pokémon such as Amoonguss and Aegislash to start wreaking havoc.
  • Entry hazard support from allies like Nihilego, Kommo-o, and Mew is also greatly appreciated to weaken checks like Celesteela and Tapu Bulu. The former two set Stealth Rock and the latter sets Spikes.
  • Late-game sweepers like SubCM Raikou and Dragon Dance Kommo-o appreciate Krookodile weakening checks like Amoonguss, Celesteela, and Buzzwole for them. Dragon Dance Kommo-o is a very weird mention here. I'd consider replacing it with clanger, scarf shao, dd mence, etc.
  • Grass-types like Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth make great teammates, as they sponge Water-, and Grass-type hits from Pokémon like Keldeo and Zarude for Krookodile, while Krookodile can scare out Rotom-H and Moltres for them.
  • Rotom-H is a great teammate, since it brings Volt Switch support for Krookodile and scares out switch-ins like Celesteela, Zarude, and Buzzwole for it.

[SET COMMENTS]

  • This set fits on hyper offense teams, as Krookodile's good Speed tier, power, and utility in the form of Taunt and Stealth Rock let it serve as a great suicide lead
  • Knock Off is useful against hyper offense teams that carry a dual screens setter like Grimmsnarl, as it removes its Light Clay and lowers the number of turns their screens stay up. It's also useful for other checks like Amoonguss and Celesteela, removing their item and easing the sweep of Krookodile's teammates.
  • Taunt prevents Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Seismitoad from setting up entry hazards. Taunt also prevents Pokemon such as Rotom-W from removing entry hazards with Defog.
  • Chople Berry lets Krookodile act as an answer to Lycanroc-D, letting it take a super effective Close Combat and either set up Stealth Rock or attack with Earthquake. It also helps Krookodile live a Focus Blast from Thundurus-T to then weaken or KO them for its teammates.
  • Focus Sash lets Krookodile guarantee that Stealth Rock is put into the field before it is KOed against other Pokemon like Salamence and Keldeo.
  • Intimidate is used to ease the matchup against Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Scizor, and lead Azelf.
  • A Jolly nature lets Krookodile outspeed Pokemon such as Gyarados, Rotom-H, and Chandelure, preventing the former two from setting up with Taunt. see overall comments

  • A partner that can set up dual screens like Grimmsnarl is great, as Krookodile complements them by setting up Stealth Rock and allowing their teammates to sweep more easily.
  • Krookodile's ability to force trades with Lycanroc-D through the combination of Intimidate and Chople Berry is greatly appreciated by teammates such as Gyarados, Galarian Moltres, and Thundurus-T.
  • Setup sweepers such as Clangorous Soul Kommo-o and Galarian Moltres work well with Krookodile, as it can set Stealth Rock up and weaken their checks, such as Diancie and Celesteela.
  • Special attackers like Thundurus-T, Celesteela, and Nihilego appreciate Krookodile denting and crippling their checks in Chansey and Celesteela with Knock Off and Taunt, paving their way to sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Krookodile can opt for a more offensive Choice Scarf set with Moxie, letting it accumulate Attack boosts as it KOes enemies. However, the utility that Intimidate offers is more worth it to weaken Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, and Krookodile can't break past Grass-types and Celesteela without enough boosts.
  • Passho definitely deserves a mention as an OO, or as a slash in Rocks (also see overall comments).
  • Fire Fang deserves a mention as well.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Tangrowth check Krookodile very well, and are only bothered by Knock Off. Both cause big damage with Giga Drain to it and can put it or its teammates to sleep with Spore and Sleep Powder, respectively. Tapu Bulu is also only bothered by Knock Off and can recover the health lost with Horn Leech or Synthesis. You explicitly mention that Amoonguss doesn't appreciate EQ in the Band set, so maybe adjust the language here to reflect the fact that they're shakier checks to that set.

**Water-types**: Rotom-W and Gyarados are immune to Ground, and can take advantage of Krookodile being Choice-locked into Earthquake. The former can remove Krookodile's Stealth Rock with Defog, while the latter can get a free turn of setup. Krookodile also can't take any hits from Choice Band Azumarill and Crawdaunt, Primarina, and Keldeo, but they don't like to switch in directly into its moves.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Despite its ability, Krookodile still has subpar bulk and lacks reliable recovery, meaning it gets worn down quite quickly and can't switch into Pokemon such as Scizor and Mamoswine. Despite hitting Krookodile for neutral or resisted damage, Pokemon like Chandelure, Nidoqueen, and Moltres hurt it very badly with their special STAB moves due to its bad special bulk.

A few overall comments / larger questions that didn't fit into the format -- I think the lack of recognition of a non-Choiced Stealth Rocks set not specifically designed for HO is a huge oversight. In my eyes, those are almost two completely different sets -- you have the HO set that's always sash (chople makes no sense if it's specifically designed as a suicide lead), and then you have normal rocks Krookodile, which usually runs leftovers, Passho, or Chople, depending on the rest of the team. I understand that Krookodile is kind of a weird case where you can run any combination of moves and items and have it be a viable set, but I think these specific sets make up an enormous percentage of the usage and should definitely be listed along side choice and HO sets. I think the other way to go about resolving this is to change the HO lead set into a more generic rocks set with Sash slashed alongside the defensive items, and explicitly say that you can run sash and taunt on the HO version, or lefties / stone edge or toxic or taunt on the normal rocks version.

Also, I think the band krook set needs to mention somewhere that it specifically exists as counterplay to metagame trends like CM Glowbro and AV Reuni / Glowbro -- as they're some of the main perks of running a Dark-type wallbreaker right now. not sure where it'd comfortably fit but worth considering.

that's all -- hope this is a little bit helpful! feel free to ignore or implement whatever you agree with :)

Twilight, Implemented KM's changes. Also added mentions of Rindo Berry since I think that's very relevant with Nihilego being so good now and removed any Light Clay mentions. I'm gonna need some help structuring the last set, since it can run 5 completely different items in two completely different playstyles, but I think it's good for a start.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Krookodile's high Attack, okay respectable Speed, and amazing offensive typing have helped it become one of the best offensive checks to Pokemon like Aegislash, Mew, and Galarian Slowbro. Few Pokémon resist the combination of Ground and Dark, and STAB Earthquake and Knock Off are capable of denting even neutral targets such as Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss.
  • Intimidate lets Krookodile switch into resisted and neutral hits such as Darkest Lariat from Choice-locked Zarude, Lycanroc-D's Stone Edge, and Jirachi's Iron Head without being too worn down. I can't see many cases where you are switching Krook directly into Zarude. It also helps mitigate late-game sweeps from Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Salamence.
  • Due to its STAB moves and good Speed, Krookodile serves as one of the best Choice Scarf users in UU, capable of revenge killing key threats like Mew, Thundurus, and Lycanroc-D. Krookodile can also use a Choice Band to remove common answers to it like Amoonguss more easily.
  • Moves like Stealth Rock and Taunt let Krookodile compress utility roles.
  • Krookodile is still threatened by physical attackers like Scizor and Lycanroc-D even after Intimidate. Its special bulk leaves it vulnerable to special attackers like Nidoqueen and Aegislash, even from neutral hits.
  • Weaknesses to common types like Grass, Water, and Fighting hinder its defensive utility and leave it helpless against common Pokémon like Keldeo, Rotom-W, and Tangrowth.
  • Coverage from Electric-types like Raikou's Scald and Thundurus's Focus Blast prevent Krookodile from checking them despite its Electric immunity.

  • Knock Off pressures walls that rely a lot on their items to function well, like Celesteela and Chansey, while also discouraging Pokemon like Mew and Salamence from switching in. Use a diff example over Mew like Rotom-H, it's pretty logical it doesn't want to hard into a Dark-type.
  • Stone Edge gives Krookodile EdgeQuake coverage, letting it threaten Pokemon like Gyarados, Moltres, and Rotom-H.
  • Close Combat lets Krookodile hit targets such as Zarude, Chansey, and opposing Krookodile harder.
  • Mention Toxic
  • Mention Darkest Lariat and Lash Out
  • Mention Fire Fang
  • Stealth Rock can be used on the Choice Scarf set to take advantage of Krookodile's ability to outspeed the whole unboosted tier and force switches through offensive pressure against Pokemon such as Mew and Nihilego set up Stealth Rock for free. You can shorten this and just say Rocks can be run if role compression is necessary and it should only attempt to set them up on a forced switch. However, the player can be punished by set up sweepers and smart prediction from their opponent, and being locked into a passive move is generally a downside.
  • Choice Scarf turns Krookodile into an amazing revenge killer, outspeeding key Pokemon such as Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Thundurus.
  • 252 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature let Krookodile outspeed +1 Jolly Gyarados, +1 Jolly Kommo-o, and +2 Modest Celesteela. Just use these examples for mons it outspeeds with a scarf than having this line on 252 Spe EVs which is pretty useless info

  • This set fits well on offense, bulky offense, and balance teams that need a fast revenge killer. These kinds of teams appreciate Krookodile's defensive utility in the form of its two immunities and access to Intimidate.
  • Even though Krookodile can take on physical attacks a bit better due to Intimidate, it shouldn't be relied on too much used defensively, so teammates like Amoonguss and Tangrowth help it by easing off the pressure from wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Scizor.
  • Strong wallbreakers such as Primarina, Chandelure, and Thundurus-T can get past Krookodile's checks such as Celesteela and Tapu Bulu, allowing it to spam its STAB moves more freely.

  • Grass-types such as Tangrowth and Amoonguss are excellent partners, as they take on threatening Water-types such as Primarina, Rotom-W, and Keldeo well for Krookodile. Zarude can also pressure said Pokemon and bring in Krookodile with U-turn against Pokemon like Moltres. You literally used Tang and Amoong for your first point. Just tie this in there.
  • Entry hazard support from teammates such as Rhyperior, Kommo-o, and Mew is key to weaken checks like Scizor and Kommo-o, allowing Krookodile to remove them more easily and help teammates such as Lycanroc-D and Nihilego sweep.
Bring up pivots into Buzzwole because Krookodile gives it free turns to wallbreak

  • Stone Edge gives Krookodile EdgeQuake coverage, giving it almost perfect coverage to hit Pokemon immune to Ground like Salamence and Galarian Moltres. You don't really need to say edgequake. Just say it lets it better deal with Ground immune Pokemon
  • Close Combat hits Pokemon that don't mind Krookodile's EdgeQuake coverage, like Zarude and Chansey. Chansey minds taking Knock Off. Don't tunnel on the concept of EdgeQuake here. Just state what it lets it break better
  • Toxic cripples common Krookodile switch-ins, such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth.
  • Same as before bring up Lash Out, Darkest Lariat, and Fire Fang
  • Stealth Rock capitalizes on Krookodile's ability to force switches to get entry hazards up safely, but requires near perfect predictions and should be used only if the role compression is needed.
  • Choice Band gives Krookodile extra power to break through would-be checks like Amoonguss and Celesteela, and gives it a niche over other Ground- and Dark-type wallbreakers like Nidoqueen and Zarude due to its ability to remove problematic sweepers like Calm Mind Galarian Slowbro and Calm Mind Reuniclus with relative ease. Not a fan of this last part. Just say it improves it breaking power and find a specific calc of an OHKO or 2HKO. Like EQ vs Amoonguss
  • A Jolly nature and 252 Speed EVs let Krookodile outspeed Pokémon such as Moltres, Rotom-H, and Chandelure.

  • Krookodile fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where it acts as a potent wallbreaker and clears the way for late-game sweepers like SubCM Primarina and Nasty Plot Mew. Krookodile's immunities and defensive utility in Intimidate are also appreciated.

  • Entry hazard support from allies like Nihilego, Kommo-o, and Mew is also greatly appreciated to weaken checks like Celesteela and Tapu Bulu. The former two set Stealth Rock and the latter sets Spikes.
  • Late-game sweepers like Choice Scarf Mienshao and Dragon Dance Salamence appreciate Krookodile weakening checks like Amoonguss, Celesteela, and Buzzwole for them.

  • Rotom-H is a great teammate, since it brings Volt Switch support for Krookodile and scares out switch-ins like Celesteela, Zarude, and Buzzwole for it.
  • Krookodile's ability of removing Galarian Slowbro with relative ease is appreciated by teammates like Keldeo, Primarina, and Amoonguss, as Assault Vest sets are a major roadblock for them and they can become setup bait for Calm Mind sets. Try to specify choice locked keld and prima can be set up bait.

[SET COMMENTS]

  • With a Focus Sash, this set fits hyper offense teams, as Krookodile's good Speed tier, power, and utility in the form of Taunt and Stealth Rock let it serve as a great suicide lead. If running Leftovers or resist Berries, this set fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where they also appreciate Krookodile's utility, immunities, and now its chance of eliminating a threat like Nihilego or Lycanroc-D through the use of a resist Berry.
  • Knock Off is useful for checks like Amoonguss, Rotom-W, and Celesteela, crippling them for Krookodile's teammates and making them easier to deal with for Pokemon like Scizor.
  • Stealth Rock wears down Pokemon like Seismitoad, Celesteela and Tangrowth for teammates like Nasty Plot Rotom-H, Scizor, and Choice Specs Primarina and lets them wallbreak and sweep more easily.
  • Taunt prevents Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Seismitoad from setting up entry hazards, and also prevents Pokemon such as Rotom-W from removing entry hazards with Defog.
  • Focus Sash lets Krookodile guarantee that Stealth Rock is put into the field before it is KOed against other Pokemon like Salamence and Keldeo.
  • Leftovers gives Krookodile longevity to keep threats like Nihilego and Choice-locked Zarude in check. Use Aegi > Zarude It also helps offset hazard damage.
  • Rindo Berry is an interesting option that gives Krookodile a surprise factor, letting it survive a +1 Grass Knot from Meteor Beam Nihilego and OHKO it back with Earthquake.
  • Chople Berry lets Krookodile act as an answer to Lycanroc-D, letting it take a super effective Close Combat and either set up Stealth Rock or attack with Earthquake. It also helps Krookodile live a Focus Blast from the Thundurus formes to then weaken or KO them for its teammates.
  • Passho Berry gives Krookodile a chance to eliminate threats like Crawdaunt, Rotom-W, and Raikou or set up Stealth Rock without having to worry about being KOed by their Water-type moves. I'd put Passho and Rindo in oo. Chople is the main berry that has more universal use.
  • Intimidate is used to ease the matchup against Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Scizor, and finish the sentence
  • A Jolly nature lets Krookodile outspeed Pokemon such as Gyarados, Rotom-H, and Chandelure, preventing the former two from setting up with Taunt.
Have a general line saying it can fit on HO and BO
  • On hyper offense teams, a partner that can set up dual screens like Grimmsnarl Change this to Alolan Ninetales is great, as Krookodile complements them by setting up Stealth Rock and allowing their teammates to sweep more easily.
  • Setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Galarian Moltres work well with Krookodile, as it can set Stealth Rock up and weaken their checks, such as Diancie and Celesteela.
  • Special attackers like Thundurus, Celesteela, and Nihilego appreciate Krookodile denting and crippling their checks in Chansey and Celesteela with Knock Off and Taunt, paving their way to sweep.
  • Rindo Berry giving Krookodile the chance of eliminating Nihilego is amazing for teammates like Thundurus and Nasty Plot Rotom-H.
  • Krookodile's ability to force trades with Lycanroc-D through the combination of Intimidate and Chople Berry is greatly appreciated by teammates such as Gyarados and Thundurus.
  • With a Passho Berry, Raikou's Scald and Rotom-W's Hydro Pump fail to OHKO Krookodile, giving it the chance of eliminating them in return for partners like Primarina and Gyarados
  • Rotom-H can bring in Krookodile safely with Volt Switch against Nihilego and Raikou, two Pokemon it can eliminate if it has the right resist Berry. Rotom-H also scares away Pokemon like Celesteela and Buzzwole for Krookodile.
  • Amoonguss serves as a nice Water- and Grass-type switch-in, checking Primarina, Keldeo, and Zarude for Krookodile, and it in return checks Steel-types like Jirachi and Aegislash for it.
If the item isn't slashed then I wouldn't focus so hard on it in the team options. Just stick to more general things it does or appreciates. It's fine if the team options aren't too long. Some ideas of things to talk about instead:
  • Faster teammates that can make up for its Speed tier being slower than stuff like Thundurus-T, Nihilego, etc.
  • Pokemon that help against Rotom-W as it is one of the few hazard removers it struggles more with

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options

  • Krookodile can opt for a more offensive Choice Scarf set with Moxie, letting it accumulate Attack boosts as it KOes enemies. However, the utility that Intimidate offers is more worth it to weaken Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, and Krookodile can't break past Grass-types and Celesteela without enough boosts.
  • Fire Fang on the Choice Band set targets Scizor for a clean OHKO, but is generally overkill, since Earthquake is a 2HKO. It's also an alternative to hit Pokemon like Celesteela and Assault Vest Tangrowth harder after they've lost their item to Knock Off, but the damage difference is not worth it most times.
  • High Horsepower should be used in place of Earthquake if Tapu Bulu is in the same team as Krookodile, as Earthquake's power is weakened under Grassy Terrain.
You can mention LO given Lily has it on her Krook for the sample.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Tangrowth check Krookodile very well, and are only bothered by Knock Off. Both cause big damage with Giga Drain to it and can put it or its teammates to sleep with Spore and Sleep Powder, respectively. However, Amoonguss has to wary of Choice Band Earthquake, as it is 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage. Zarude and Tapu Bulu resist both of Krookodile's STABs and can recover their health with Jungle Healing and Horn Leech, respectively, or Synthesis.

**Water-types**: Rotom-W and Gyarados are immune to Ground, and can take advantage of Krookodile being Choice-locked into Earthquake. The former can remove Krookodile's Stealth Rock with Defog, while the latter can get a free turn of setup. Krookodile also can't take any Water STAB hits from Crawdaunt, Azumarill, Primarina, and Keldeo, but they don't like to switch in directly into its moves. Azumarill, Primarina, and Keldeo have the added benefit of having both of their STABs being super effective against Krookodile, making them a nightmare for it to switch into, unlike Crawdaunt.

Give Buzzwole its own point

  • Even with coverage like Fire Fang, Buzzwole and physically defensive Tangrowth completely hard walls Krookodile.

  • Knock Off pressures walls that rely a lot on their items to function well, like Celesteela and Chansey, while also discouraging Pokemon like Rotom-H and Salamence from switching in.
  • Stone Edge gives Krookodile EdgeQuake coverage, letting it threaten Pokemon like Gyarados, Moltres, and Rotom-H.
  • Close Combat lets Krookodile hit targets such as Zarude, Chansey, and opposing Krookodile harder.
  • Toxic cripples switch-ins such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth, but others like Amoonguss and Celesteela steela is not really a krook switch in at all, if you want to mention something here then mention zarude (which can heal it off with jungle healing) and adjust your sentence to compensate are immune to it, so it's quite matchup-reliant.
  • Darkest Lariat is useful to hit Pokemon like Celesteela and Rotom-W harder after they've had their items removed it also hits niche stuff like grassy seed sweepers harder. However, it has little to no use besides that. Lash Out serves as a good way to punish Defog Salamence, but has no use outside of that since Krookodile outspeeds the Rotom-H formes and Moltres, the only other relevant Defoggers. intimidate. it punishes intim mence and opposing krooks switching in!
  • Fire Fang scores a OHKO on Scizor, which can be useful for teammates like Nihilego, but that's its only use. it's mainly for teams that can't rk scizor too reliably to help with what can be one of the toughest matchups in the tier so it doesn't really matter that that's its only use
  • Stealth Rock can be used to take advantage of Krookodile's ability to force switches against Pokemon such as Mew and Nihilego to set up entry hazards, but should only be used when the role compression is necessary, and it requires very good prediction. mention that literally every relevant defogger smashes scarf krook anyway so it's pretty useless
  • Choice Scarf turns Krookodile into an amazing revenge killer, outspeeding key Pokemon such as Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Thundurus, and boosted Pokemon like +1 Jolly Gyarados, +1 Jolly Kommo-o, and +2 Modest Celesteela.

  • This set fits well on offense, bulky offense, and balance teams that need a fast revenge killer. These kinds of teams appreciate Krookodile's defensive utility in the form of its two immunities and access to Intimidate.
  • Even though Krookodile can take on physical attacks a bit better due to Intimidate, it shouldn't be relied on too much, so teammates like Amoonguss and Tangrowth help it by easing off the pressure from wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Scizor these two do not help with scizor. They also take on threatening Water-types such as Primarina, Rotom-W, and Keldeo well for it. Zarude can also pressure said Pokemon and bring in Krookodile with U-turn against Pokemon like Moltres.
  • Strong wallbreakers such as Primarina, Chandelure, and Thundurus-T can get past Krookodile's checks such as Celesteela again not really a check, mention tangrowth instead and Tapu Bulu, allowing it to spam its STAB moves more freely.
  • Krookodile is helpless against Grass-types, so partners that can pressure them like Nidoqueen, Mamoswine, and Chandelure are great.. Rotom-H is another good teammate that can scare away Grass-types and pivots out of checks like Nihilego to bring Krookodile in.
  • Entry hazard support from teammates such as Rhyperior, Kommo-o, and Mew is key to weaken checks like Scizor and Kommo-o, allowing Krookodile to remove them more easily and help teammates such as Lycanroc-D and Nihilego sweep.
  • Salamence, Aegislash, and Moltres ensure Buzzwole is not given free turns to wallbreak, as it can freely come into Krookodile.

  • Krookodile's versatility in what items it can run and the role compression it gives let it perform on both hyper offense teams and on more defensive ones, like balance and bulky offense.
  • With a Focus Sash Life Orb, this set fits hyper offense teams, as Krookodile's good Speed tier, power, and utility in the form of Taunt and Stealth Rock let it serve as a great suicide lead. If running Leftovers or resist Berries, this set fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where they also appreciate Krookodile's utility, immunities, and now its chance of eliminating a threat like Nihilego or Lycanroc-D through the use of a resist Berry. if you're going to keep these mentions you're gonna wanna actually metnion rindo somewhere that isnt oo
  • Focus Sash lets Krookodile guarantee that Stealth Rock is put into the field before it is KOed against other Pokemon like Salamence and Keldeo. line about life orb allowing it to more easily pressure the likes of amoonguss, scizor, moltres and mew would be good
  • Leftovers gives Krookodile longevity to keep threats like Nihilego and Aegislash in check. It also helps offset hazard damage.
  • A Jolly nature lets Krookodile outspeed Pokemon such as Gyarados, Rotom-H, and Chandelure, preventing the former two from setting up with Taunt. this is worded weird bc it makes it sound like taunt is the setup move

  • On hyper offense teams, a partner that can set up dual screens like Alolan Ninetales is great, as Krookodile complements them by setting up Stealth Rock and allowing their teammates to sweep more easily. bye lol
  • Amoonguss serves as a nice Water- and Grass-type switch-in, checking Primarina, Keldeo, and Zarude for Krookodile, and it in return checks Steel-types like Jirachi and Aegislash for it.
  • Teammates like Azelf and Thundurus compensate Krookodile's lower Speed tier and remove Pokemon like Buzzwole for it.
  • Seismitoad seismitoad doesn't really fit on the same teams as rocks krook so i'd consider changing this mention to something else that pressures the washer like zarude or av glowbro and Tangrowth are good answers to Rotom-W, one of the only Defoggers that Krookodile struggles with. Together, Krookodile and them can cripple the opposing team by spamming Knock Off.
  • include mentions of more non-ho teammates that synergise with krook, mew being a prime example of a mon with great defensive synergy alongside krookodile that can also hazard stack with it and pressure defoggers like mence, other stuff like its own salamence and starmie would be fine too as monki/keld checks etc. you get the point

  • Earthquake and Knock Off threaten a large portion of the metagame and together have almost unresisted coverage, hitting key targets such as Jirachi, Mew, and Galarian Slowbro super effectively while still hitting hard other foes like Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss for neutral damage.
  • Stone Edge gives Krookodile a way to hit Pokemon immune to Ground like Salamence, Rotom-H honestly heattom is just 2hkod flat out by knock anyway so you may wanna change this to moltres specifically bc you don't wanna catch a flame body burn, and Galarian Moltres.
  • Close Combat hits Zarude and Chansey harder.
  • Toxic cripples common Krookodile switch-ins, such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth.
  • Lash Out takes advantage of Salamence using Defog in front of Krookodile or intimidating it, same w/ opposing krook
  • Darkest Lariat hits Rotom-W and Colbur Berry Mew harder after Knock Off. and seed sweepers
  • Fire Fang lets Krookodile OHKO Scizor and gives it a reliable way to hit Amoonguss without being locked into Earthquake and give Flying-types free opportunities. pretty much every ground immunity in the tier (salamence, moltres, noivern, rotoms) shrugs off fire fang easily so i'd just remove this and mention that it really is just for scizor and offensive buzzwole
  • Stealth Rock capitalizes on Krookodile's ability to force switches to get entry hazards up safely, but requires near perfect predictions and should be used only if the role compression is needed.
  • Choice Band gives Krookodile extra power to break through would-be checks like Amoonguss and Celesteela again not a check, would mention something like defensive kommo-o, notably 2HKOing the former with Earthquake and OHKOing Scizor with Fire Fang.

  • Krookodile fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where it acts as a potent wallbreaker and clears the way for late-game sweepers like SubCM Primarina and Nasty Plot Mew. Krookodile's immunities and defensive utility in Intimidate are also appreciated.
  • Due to its frailty, Krookodile loves VoltTurn support from teammates like Scizor, Jirachi, and Rotom-W, which can bring it in safely against Pokémon such as Jirachi and Aegislash to start wreaking havoc.
  • Krookodile's ability of removing Galarian Slowbro with relative ease is appreciated by teammates like Keldeo, Primarina, and Amoonguss, as Assault Vest sets are a major roadblock for them and they can become setup bait for Calm Mind sets if Choice-locked.

  • Rindo Berry is an interesting option that gives Krookodile a surprise factor, letting it survive a +1 Grass Knot from Nihilego and OHKO it back with Earthquake. bring this up imo
  • Passho Berry gives Krookodile a chance to eliminate threats like Crawdaunt, Rotom-W, and Raikou or set up Stealth Rock without having to worry about being KOed by their Water-type moves. it also lets it tank a cb jet from azumarill much more easily if it needs to revenge kill that but this is an optional inclusion
  • Intimidate is used to ease the matchup against Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Scizor, and Zarude. think this is supposed to be above somewhere lol
  • Krookodile can opt for a more offensive Choice Scarf set with Moxie, letting it accumulate Attack boosts as it KOes enemies. However, the utility that Intimidate offers is more worth it to weaken Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, and Krookodile can't break past Grass-types and Celesteela without enough boosts. still iffy on steela mentions bc it rlly is ohkod by knock (figuratively but it does take a lot and HATES losing leftovers)
  • High Horsepower should be used in place of Earthquake if Tapu Bulu is in the same team as Krookodile, as Earthquake's power is weakened under Grassy Terrain.
  • Life Orb gives Krookodile an extra boost in power without locking it into a move, but between hazards and the recoil from Life Orb, Krookodile gets worn down very quickly and loses much of its defensive utility against Pokemon like Aegislash. main slash now so ye
  • aerial ace mention to hit buzzwole specifically but it doesnt hit anything else at all so be sure to clarify that

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Azumarill, Primarina, and Hatterene threaten Krookodile with their STAB moves, but don't appreciate losing their items to Knock Off and or taking an Earthquake. The former can get past the Speed issue with Aqua Jet, though. Tapu Bulu can easily switch into Krookodile and threaten it with its Grass-type STAB moves.

**Buzzwole**: Buzzwole hard walls any Krookodile set. Its huge Defense stat and typing resisting both of Krookodile's STABs are the perfect combination to stop Krookodile completely. It also doesn't mind losing its item to Knock Off due to its reliable recovery in Roost, and it threatens Krookodile back with its STAB Drain Punch and can cripple it with Toxic.

[OVERVIEW]

Krookodile's high Attack, respectable Speed, and amazing offensive typing make it one of the best offensive checks to Pokemon like Aegislash, Mew, and Galarian Slowbro. Few Pokémon resist the combination of Ground and Dark, and STAB Earthquake and Knock Off are capable of denting even neutral targets such as Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss. Intimidate lets Krookodile switch into resisted and neutral hits such as Lycanroc-D's Stone Edge without being too worn down. It also helps mitigate late-game sweeps from Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Salamence. Moves like Stealth Rock and Taunt let Krookodile compress utility roles, and its ability to run a plethora of different items, like Life Orb, Leftovers, Choice Scarf, Choice Band, and even resist Berries like Chople Berry and Rindo Berry play a key factor in its unpredictability and versatility. It's one of the best Choice Scarf users in UU, capable of revenge killing threats like Nihilego and Thundurus. Krookodile can also use a Choice Band to remove common answers to it like Amoonguss more easily. However, Krookodile is still threatened by physical attackers like Scizor and Lycanroc-D even after Intimidate, and its special bulk leaves it vulnerable to special attackers like Nidoqueen and Aegislash, even from neutral and resisted hits. Weaknesses to common types like Grass, Water, and Fighting hinder its defensive utility and leave it helpless against common Pokémon like Keldeo, Rotom-W, and Tangrowth. Coverage from Electric-types like Raikou's Scald and Thundurus's Focus Blast prevent Krookodile from checking them despite its Electric immunity, and even with coverage like Fire Fang, Buzzwole and physically defensive Tangrowth hard wall Krookodile.
I would mention the competition it faces from rhyperior as a rocker on Bulky Offense teams due to it having better bulk and a comparable offensive presence

Knock Off pressures walls that rely on their items to function well, like Celesteela and Chansey, and scares Pokemon like Rotom-H and Salamence from switching in. Stone Edge lets it threaten Pokemon immune to Ground, like Gyarados, Moltres, and Rotom-H. Close Combat lets Krookodile hit targets such as Zarude, Chansey, and opposing Krookodile harder. Toxic cripples switch-ins such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth, but others like Amoonguss are either immune to it or can cure themselves of it, like Jungle Healing Zarude, so it's quite matchup-reliant. Darkest Lariat is useful to hit Pokemon like Rotom-W harder after they've had their items removed and comes in handy against the niche Grassy Seed Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus. Lash Out serves as a good way to punish Intimidate from opposing Krookodile and Salamence, and it also punishes Defog from the latter, but has no use outside of that since Krookodile outspeeds the Rotom-H formes and Moltres, the only other relevant Defoggers. Krookodile's versatility in what items it can run and the role compression it gives let it perform on both hyper offense teams and on more defensive ones, like balance and bulky offense. With a Life Orb, this set fits on hyper offense teams, as Krookodile's good Speed tier, power, and utility in the form of Taunt and Stealth Rock let it serve as a great lead. If running Leftovers or resist Berries, this set fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where they also appreciate Krookodile's utility, immunities, and now ability to face and potentially remove Pokémon like Lycanroc-D and Nihilego due to a resist Berry. Knock Off is useful for checks like Amoonguss, Rotom-W, and Celesteela, crippling them for Krookodile's teammates. Stealth Rock wears down Pokemon like Celesteela and Tangrowth for teammates like Scizor, and Choice Specs Primarina. Taunt prevents Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Seismitoad from setting up entry hazards, and also stops Defoggers like Rotom-W and Moltres from removing entry hazards. Chople Berry lets Krookodile take a super effective Close Combat from Lycanroc-D and either set up Stealth Rock or attack with Earthquake. Life Orb boosts Krookodile's damage output, letting it pressure Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Mew, and Scizor more easily. Leftovers gives Krookodile longevity to keep threats like Nihilego and Aegislash in check more easily, and helps offset hazard damage. Rindo Berry lets it survive a +1 Grass Knot from Nihilego and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Galarian Moltres work well with Krookodile, as it can set Stealth Rock up and weaken their checks, such as Diancie. Special attackers like Thundurus and Nihilego appreciate Krookodile denting and crippling their checks in Chansey and Celesteela with Knock Off and Taunt, paving their way to sweep. Amoonguss serves as a nice Water- and Grass-type switch-in, checking Primarina, Keldeo, and Zarude for Krookodile, and it in return checks Steel-types like Aegislash for it. Starmie and Thundurus compensate for Krookodile's lower Speed tier and remove Pokemon like Buzzwole and Keldeo for it. Spikes Mew forms an amazing hazard stacking core with Krookodile, quickly overwhelming the opponent through entry hazards alone. Furthermore, Mew can pressure Salamence with Ice Beam, and together, they can spam Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from their foes (give examples of pokemon they can wear down by removing boots) to make their hazards even more annoying. They also have good defensive synergy, with Krookodile taking on resisted moves like Lycanroc-D's Crunch and Mew absorbing special hits from Pokemon like Nidoqueen for Krookodile. Zarude and Tangrowth are good answers to Rotom-W, one of the only Defoggers that Krookodile struggles with, and absorb Water- and Grass-type moves from foes like Crawdaunt and Tapu Bulu. Starmie can remove entry hazards with Rapid Spin and pressure the likes of Keldeo, Salamence, and Buzzwole for Krookodile. In return, Krookodile pressures foes like Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro and Chansey for Starmie. (I'd move this point to right after the mention of Starmie and speed control and just say something along the lines of "Starmie can also remove entry hazards in Rapid Spin for Krookodile" Then you can implement the in return sentence. It helps it flow better since you talk about Starmie once and bring it up again later in the paragraph whereas you can follow up more with Starmie directly after) Checks to Zarude and Keldeo, like Amoonguss and Salamence, are very appreciated. Krookodile can in return pressure Aegislash for the former and Nihilego for the latter. (you already mentioned that amoonguss checks zarude and krook checks aegi for it earlier, so its a bit repetitive and I'd remove this bit here. As for salamence, you can expand on this point with what it does for krook more since you didnt talk about it much)

Lash Out takes advantage of Salamence and opposing Krookodile switching in due to Intimidate, also punishing Defog attempts from the latter. Darkest Lariat hits Rotom-W and Colbur Berry Mew harder after Knock Off, also hitting Grassy Seed Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro. Fire Fang lets Krookodile OHKO Scizor and gives it a reliable way to hit offensive Buzzwole. Stealth Rock capitalizes on Krookodile's ability to force switches to get entry hazards up safely, but requires near perfect predictions and should be used only if the role compression is needed. Choice Band gives Krookodile extra power to break through would-be checks like Amoonguss and defensive Kommo-o, notably 2HKOing the former with Earthquake and OHKOing Scizor with Fire Fang.

Krookodile fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where it acts as a potent wallbreaker and clears the way for late-game sweepers like Substitute + Calm Mind Primarina and Nasty Plot Mew by removing threats like Amoonguss and Chansey for them. Passho Berry gives Krookodile a chance to eliminate threats like Crawdaunt, Rotom-W, and Raikou or set up Stealth Rock (Nearly all of the time one would rather use the chance to take a hit to KO them in return rather than set up rocks just to be forced out again, so I'd remove the mention) without having to worry about being KOed by their Water-type moves. Krookodile can opt for a more offensive Choice Scarf set with Moxie, letting it accumulate Attack boosts as it KOes enemies. However, the utility that Intimidate offers is more worth it to weaken Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Krookodile can't break past Grass-types and Buzzwole without enough boosts. High Horsepower should be used in place of Earthquake if Tapu Bulu is on the same team as Krookodile, as Earthquake's power is weakened under Grassy Terrain. Choice Band Aerial Ace hits Buzzwole very hard, but that's it.
-bring up Choice Band assurance and how it can nail pokemon like amoonguss switching in while taking hazard damage, but other than that its very specific and not worth running most of the time since it requires very specific situations to be effective

Both cause big damage with Giga Drain to it and can put it or its teammates to sleep with Spore and Sleep Powder, respectively. Zarude and Tapu Bulu resist both of Krookodile's STABs and can recover their health with Jungle Healing and Horn Leech, respectively, or Synthesis. **Water-types**: Rotom-W and Gyarados are immune to Ground, and can take advantage of Krookodile being Choice-locked into Earthquake. The former can remove Stealth Rock with Defog, while the latter can get a free turn of setup. Krookodile also can't take any Water STAB hits from Crawdaunt, Azumarill, Primarina, and Keldeo, but they don't like to switch in directly into its moves. It also doesn't mind losing its item to Knock Off due to its reliable recovery in Roost, and it threatens Krookodile back with its Fighting STAB and can cripple it with Toxic.

(We decided its better to rework the buzzwole point into fighting-types in general. In addition to buzzwole Pokemon like kommo-o, cobalion, and mienshao should be included, with the latter 2 being able to revenge kill non scarf variants. Make sure to keep the details about buzz being the one that just sits on its attacks. There should be a mention of item scouting for chople berry with cobalion and mienshao as well as them fearing scarf sets, though mienshao's own scarf set can outspeed scarf krook)

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Despite its ability and good defensive typing, Krookodile still has subpar bulk and lacks reliable recovery, meaning it gets worn down quite quickly and can't switch into Pokemon such as Scizor and Mamoswine. Despite hitting Krookodile for neutral or resisted damage, Pokemon like Chandelure, Nidoqueen, and Moltres hurt it very badly with their special STAB moves due to its bad special bulk.

[OVERVIEW]

Krookodile's high Attack, respectable Speed, and amazing offensive typing make it one of the best offensive checks to Pokemon like Aegislash, Mew, and Galarian Slowbro. Few Pokémon resist the combination of Ground and Dark, and STAB Earthquake and Knock Off are capable of denting Earthquake and Knock Off, which dent even neutral targets such as Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss. Intimidate lets Krookodile switch into resisted and neutral hits such as Lycanroc-D's Stone Edge without being getting too worn down. It also helps mitigate prevent late-game sweeps from Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Salamence. Moves like Stealth Rock and Taunt let Krookodile compress utility roles, and its ability to run a plethora of different items, like Life Orb, Leftovers, Choice Scarf, Choice Band, and even resist Berries like Chople Berry and Rindo Berry Chople Berry, and Rindo Berry, plays a key factor in its unpredictability and versatility. It's one of the best Choice Scarf users in UU, capable of revenge killing threats like Nihilego and Thundurus. Krookodile can also use a Choice Band to With Choice Band, it can remove common answers to it like Amoonguss more easily. Krookodile also faces competition from Rhyperior as a Stealth Rock setter on bulky offense teams due to its better bulk and similar offensive attributes.

Knock Off pressures walls that rely on their items to function well, like Celesteela and Chansey, and scares discourages Pokemon like Rotom-H and Salamence from switching in. Stone Edge lets it threaten Pokemon immune to Ground, threatens Pokemon immune to Ground like Gyarados, Moltres, and Rotom-H. Close Combat lets Krookodile hit targets such as Zarude, Chansey, and opposing Krookodile harder. Toxic cripples switch-ins such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth, but others like Amoonguss are either immune to it or can cure themselves of it, like Jungle Healing Zarude and Jungle Healing Zarude are immune or resilient to it, so it's quite matchup-reliant. Darkest Lariat is useful to hit Pokemon like Rotom-W harder after they've had their items removed and comes in handy against the niche Grassy Seed Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus. Lash Out serves as a good way to punish Intimidate from opposing Krookodile and Salamence, and it also punishes Defog from the latter, but has no use outside of that since because Krookodile outspeeds the Rotom-H formes and Moltres, the only other relevant Defoggers. Fire Fang scores a OHKO on OHKOes Scizor, which is helpful for teams lacking good answers to it like Moltres. Stealth Rock can be used to take advantage of Krookodile's ability to force switches against Pokemon such as Mew and Nihilego, but should only be used when the role compression is necessary, and it requires very good prediction. Choice Scarf turns Krookodile into an amazing revenge killer, outspeeding key Pokemon and sweepers such as Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Thundurus, and boosted Pokemon like +1 Jolly Gyarados, +1 Jolly Kommo-o, and +2 Modest Celesteela.

This set fits well on offense, bulky offense, (comma) and balance teams that need a fast revenge killer. These kinds of teams appreciate Krookodile's defensive utility in the form of its two immunities and access to Intimidate. Even though Intimidate Krookodile can take on physical attacks a bit better due to Intimidate, it shouldn't be relied on too much, so teammates like Aegislash and Tangrowth help it by easing off the pressure from against wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Scizor. Assault Vest Tangrowth takes on threatening Water-types such as Primarina, Rotom-W, and Keldeo well for it, and Zarude can also pressure said Pokemon Water-types and bring in Krookodile with U-turn against Pokemon like Moltres. Strong wallbreakers such as Primarina, Chandelure, and Thundurus-T can get past Krookodile's checks such as Buzzwole and Tapu Bulu, allowing it to spam its STAB moves more freely. In return, Krookodile removes Pokemon like Nihilego for them. Krookodile is helpless against Grass-types, so partners that can pressure them like Nidoqueen, Mamoswine, and Galarian Moltres are great. Rotom-H is another good teammate that can scare away Grass-types and pivots out of checks like Nihilego to bring brings Krookodile in on checks like Nihilego. Entry hazard support from teammates such as Rhyperior, Kommo-o, and Mew is key to weaken checks like Scizor and Kommo-o, allowing Krookodile to remove them more easily and help teammates such as Lycanroc-D and Nihilego sweep. Salamence, Aegislash, and Moltres also ensure Buzzwole is not given free turns to wallbreak, as it can freely come into Krookodile.

Krookodile's versatility in what items it can run and the role compression it gives role compression and item versatility let it perform on both hyper offense teams and on more defensive ones, like balance and bulky offense. With a Life Orb, this set fits on hyper offense teams, as Krookodile's good Speed tier, power, and utility in the form of Taunt and Stealth Rock let it serve as a great lead. If running Leftovers or resist Berries a Berry, this set fits on bulky offense and balance teams, where they also which appreciate Krookodile's utility, immunities, and now ability to face and potentially remove Pokémon like Lycanroc-D and Nihilego due to a resist Berry. Knock Off is useful for checks like Amoonguss, Rotom-W, and Celesteela, crippling them for Krookodile's teammates. Stealth Rock wears down Pokemon like Celesteela and Tangrowth for teammates like Scizor, (comma) and Choice Specs Primarina. Taunt prevents Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Seismitoad from setting up entry hazards, and also stops Defoggers like Rotom-W and Moltres from removing entry hazards Stealth Rock and Defog from Pokemon like Rhyperior, Seismitoad, Rotom-W, and Moltres. Chople Berry lets Krookodile take a super effective Close Combat from Lycanroc-D's Close Combat and either set up Stealth Rock or attack with Earthquake. It also helps Krookodile live a Focus Blast from the take Thundurus formes' (apo) Focus Blast to then weaken or KO them. Life Orb boosts Krookodile's damage output, letting it lets Krookodile pressure Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Mew, and Scizor more easily. Leftovers offsets entry hazard damage and gives Krookodile longevity to keep threats like Nihilego and Aegislash in check more easily, and helps offset hazard damage. Rindo Berry lets it survive a +1 Grass Knot from Nihilego +1 Nihilego's Grass Knot and OHKO it back with Earthquake. A Jolly nature lets Krookodile outspeed and use Taunt on Pokemon such as Gyarados, Rotom-H, and Chandelure and use Taunt before they try to set up.

Setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Galarian Moltres work well with Krookodile, as it can set Stealth Rock up and weaken their checks, (comma) such as Diancie. Special attackers like Thundurus and Nihilego appreciate Krookodile denting and crippling their checks in Chansey and Celesteela with Knock Off and Taunt, paving their way to sweep. Amoonguss serves as a nice Water- and Grass-type switch-in, checking Primarina, Keldeo, and Zarude for Krookodile, and it Krookodile in return checks Steel-types like Aegislash for it. Starmie and Thundurus compensate for Krookodile's lower Speed tier and remove Pokemon like Buzzwole and Keldeo for it. Starmie also removes entry hazards for Krookodile with Rapid Spin. In return, Krookodile pressures foes like Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro and Chansey for Starmie. Spikes Mew forms an amazing hazard stacking core with Krookodile, quickly overwhelming the opponent through entry hazards alone. Furthermore, Mew can pressure Salamence with Ice Beam, and together, they can spam Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from foes like Rotom-H, Scizor, and Galarian Slowbro to make their hazards even more annoying. [SET COMMENTS]

Earthquake and Knock Off threaten a large portion of the metagame and together have almost unresisted coverage, hitting key targets such as Jirachi, Mew, and Galarian Slowbro super effectively while still hitting hard other foes like Primarina, Keldeo, and Amoonguss for neutral damage due to the massive boost in power Choice Band gives hitting even Amoonguss hard thanks to Choice Band. Stone Edge hits Pokemon immune to Ground like Salamence, Moltres, and Galarian Moltres. Close Combat hits Zarude and Chansey harder. Toxic cripples common switch-ins, such as Buzzwole and Tapu Bulu. Lash Out takes advantage of Salamence and opposing Krookodile switching in due to Intimidate, also punishing Defog attempts from the latter punishes Intimidate Salamence and Krookodile for switching in and Salamence for using Defog. Darkest Lariat hits Rotom-W and Colbur Berry Mew harder after Knock Off, also hitting Grassy Seed Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro. Fire Fang lets Krookodile OHKO OHKOes Scizor and gives it a reliable way to hit reliably hits offensive Buzzwole.

Krookodile's immunities and defensive utility in Intimidate are also appreciated. Due to its frailty, Krookodile loves VoltTurn support from teammates like Scizor, Jirachi, and Rotom-W, which can bring it in safely against Pokémon such as Jirachi and Aegislash to start wreaking havoc. Rotom-H is a especially great teammate, since it brings Volt Switch support for Krookodile uses Volt Switch and scares out switch-ins like Tangrowth, Zarude, and Buzzwole for it. Entry hazard support from allies like Nihilego, Kommo-o, and Mew is also greatly appreciated to weaken checks like Tangrowth. Late-game sweepers like Choice Scarf Mienshao and Dragon Dance Salamence appreciate Krookodile weakening checks like Amoonguss, Celesteela, and Buzzwole for them. Grass-types like Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth make great teammates, as they sponge Water-, and Grass-type hits from Pokémon like Keldeo and Zarude for Krookodile, while Krookodile can scare out Salamence and Moltres for them. Krookodile's ability of removing Galarian Slowbro with relative ease easily beating Galarian Slowbro is appreciated by teammates like Keldeo, Primarina, and Amoonguss, as Assault Vest sets are a major roadblock for them and they can become setup bait fodder for Calm Mind sets if Choice-locked.

Passho Berry gives Krookodile a chance to eliminate threats like Crawdaunt, Rotom-W, and Raikou without having to worry about being KOed by their Water-type moves. Krookodile can opt for a more offensive Choice Scarf set with Moxie, letting it accumulate Attack boosts as it KOes enemies. However, the utility that Intimidate offers is more worth it to weaken Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Krookodile it still can't break past Grass-types and Buzzwole without enough boosts. Checks and Counters

**Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Tangrowth check Krookodile very well, and are only bothered by Knock Off. Both cause big damage with Giga Drain to it and can put it or its teammates to sleep with Spore and Sleep Powder, respectively incapacitate a team member with Spore or Sleep Powder. However, Amoonguss has to wary of Choice Band Earthquake, as it is 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage. Zarude and Tapu Bulu resist both of Krookodile's STABs and can recover their health with Jungle Healing and Horn Leech, respectively switch into Krookodile's STAB moves and can recover with Jungle Healing or Horn Leech.

**Water-types**: Rotom-W and Gyarados are immune to Ground, (comma) and can take advantage of Krookodile being Choice-locked into Earthquake. The former can remove Stealth Rock with Defog, while the latter can get a free turn of setup. Krookodile also can't take any Water-type STAB hits from Crawdaunt, Azumarill, Primarina, and Keldeo, but they don't like to switch in directly into its moves. Azumarill, Primarina, and Keldeo have the added benefit of having both of their STABs being super effective against Krookodile, making them a nightmare for it to switch into, unlike Crawdaunt Crawdaunt is also easier to switch around, since only one of its STAB types threatens Krookodile.

**Fighting-types**: Buzzwole hard walls any Krookodile set. It resists both of Krookodile's STAB moves, can tank any hit, has reliable recovery in Roost, and can threaten Krookodile back with its own STAB moves. Kommo-o, Mienshao, Keldeo and Cobalion also threaten Krookodile greatly. The former has enough bulk to live hits from non-Choice Band variants even when low take non-Choice Band attacks and KO back, while the latter three outspeed non-Choice Scarf sets, with Choice Scarf Mienshao outspeeding even those, and KO back. However, Mienshao and Cobalion should scout for Chople Berry and Choice Scarf sets.
