Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Giving a follow-up to this because I think it adds good context on Zygarde on SM/USUM, as well as its role on the original XY (again, big spoilers for ZA): The comparison to Z-Moves is also because Zygarde supposedly got to Alola because it was protecting Pokémon from the light of the Ultimate Weapon back in XY and parts of it were scattered to other places, and there, it gathered the power from that land, resulting in Nihil Light. This is the exact dialogue from Lysandre:
486 AD018931279FDED2 msg_Ev_m10_9810_talk_04 When Zygarde used up its strength protecting\nPokémon from the light of the ultimate weapon...\c\nits parts scattered to far-off places, absorbing the\npower of those lands and seeking humans who\r\nwould give it aid.[VAR 0114(0019)]
487 AD018A31279FE085 msg_Ev_m10_9810_talk_05 And now that I think of it...\c\nThe moves that Zygarde used when it Mega\nEvolved—they reminded me of Z-Moves, like those\r\nused in the Alola region.\c\nBut perhaps I am reading too much into it.[VAR 0114(0019)]
Lysandre earlier also mentions that, despite not remembering much, he does remember Zygarde was the one who saved him. It's also why we only see half of Zygarde on XY, since we only encounter it after the Ultimate Weapon event happens.
I am absolutely enthralled by these lore drops. People have been theorizing for years that Zygarde and the Ultimate Weapon had some connection to Alola and potentially the Darkest Day in Galar. Glad we have confirmation that even the newer lore of the Pokémon world has had global consequences.
I'm starting to wonder if Nihil Light is the first instance of a signature move for a Mega. As in, maybe Core Enforcer changes to Nihil Light while Zygarde is Mega Evolved?
Neither is Alolan Rattata lines and Spinda, so I guess not even the DLC is letting them out. They really are just staying Homebound throughout all of the Switch 1 era.
I think, maybe, the dex entries might indicate plans for the DLC? I noticed some odd ones while glancing through.

You can see Clefair & Clefable get the SKN Comment. Obviously, since they're in the game
Then you have the place holders for Vulpix & Ninetales. They're not in the game. The msg_garbage is a place holder for the actual zkn_comment that isnt there and [~37] is for the text.
But then, between Ninetales & Oddish are the Jigglypuff & Zubat lines and they don't have the [~##]
I went through the whole thing. There's about 130 of these instances among the normal Pokemon numbering. The thing that got me to really bother looking into this was noticing:
1. that the hoenn starters & the hoenn legend megas also had this treatment
2. That Zeraora, Heatran & Darkrai all had this treatment and we know they have mega stones stubbed out
So, well, I just took a look through them.
For everything up through SWSH, it's like this
But that seems a bit odd. There's no Stantler stub and Kleavor if anything should be here already but isn't. And Qwilfish is present earlier in the list, but Overqwil isnt even though the other regional evolutions are accounted for.
The Gen 9 part of the list is also kind of odd. I only saw stubs go up through 1005 rather than at least 1008 Koraidon (after that its the megas) and it's kind of cutting off some of the evolution lines.

i literally made an account like 5 minutes ago cause i also noticed this and wanted to tell someone so you're not alone lol
anyway it might be possible to predict exactly what gets a mega by looking at the gaps between the alternate form dex entries at the end of the text dump (which is where all the mega entries are). some scrubbed stuff corresponds to pokemon that don't have any alts with dex entries. not all of them are fully evolved though, so i might be on to nothing. either that or we're getting mega wynaut
I do wanna discuss something that caught my eye a bit - how despite AZ being a central part of ZA's plot, you can't use any of the Pokemon he fought the player with back in XY: those being Torkoal, Golurk, and Sigilyph
Personally, the dex feels a bit too small, so I think adding Torkoal, Golett, Golurk, and Sigilyph into the ZA dex pads it out a bit more. Also, it's odd that Rotom is in the phones but not obtainable in the wild in ZA - granted it was the same with the Rotom Dex in Sun and Moon, so I don't think it's too big of a deal, but personally, I'd say that Torkoal, Golett, Golurk, Sigilyph, and Rotom should have been in the ZA dex.
I think, maybe, the dex entries might indicate plans for the DLC? I noticed some odd ones while glancing through.

Sorry for sniping, but this is still super useful since you showed your work! The list I posted had no context or source, so other than one of the discords I was in marking it as 'confirmed' I was worried it might be a fabrication.

like look at this chunk at the end alone! Way too much to mess with and it assumes all the gen 8 stuff is in dex order and who knows how anything in gen 9 pans out when the list was already truncated (maybe??) and out of order (possibly??)
Weren't SV 'mons NOT in national dex order back in the datamines anyway? Perhaps the old thread involving prerelease SV datamining has something useful?
Weren't SV 'mons NOT in national dex order back in the datamines anyway? Perhaps the old thread involving prerelease SV datamining has something useful?
I had that lsit on hand while tracking codenames so I dug it out. But it also went to 1010 (Annihlape) and followign the order would be even more awkward. 919 would be Spidops and 920 would be Nymble as example
