SPOILERS! Legends ZA Data Dumps - Adding Info to OP

Well it’s over

I dunno, it might look kinda cool with the helmet down. But it looks so big and awkward when it’s sticking up.
It will look like it has a large dragon head which sounds cool, but it also might look like it has no arms, which is probably less so.

In any case, I find it humorous that both Feraligatr and Greninja, the most popular of the three starters of their set in this game specifically, might have the least improvement with their Mega designs. I'm fine with it, though, since Meganium, Emboar, Chesnaught, and Delphox all really needed a good glow-up.

delicious!

You know. Maybe. Could have gone with a different color for Scrafty there
The white might've been to make it more in line with Naveen or something (since, well, he uses Scraggy/Scrafty and he has a white coat/hoodie/whatever).

As for Scrafty itself? The design is fine overall, but I'd have to see the thing in full to make a more final judgement on it.

Why? It looks like a mix between shed skin and a business suit. What's wrong about-

(Explination)
*realizes and looks at problem*

Uh...

So, um... Holy shit. I, uh... I'm not going to be unable to see that...

...

I miss when I thought Mega Halucha's feather having so much detail was the biggest problem a Mega could have...

Terrible lmao. Did it get any real buffs tho? Sig move?

Do we have info on the Megas' abilities? I need to know if they did my boy Gallade right
Thing is, since abilities are not in the game, whatever is in the data for ZA may very well be placeholder abilities. We saw this with some of the pokemon introduced in LA having different abilities or moves once in the mainline games

So the only "real" data we can get from ZA for the new megas will be type and stats realistically

Mega Chandelure just isn't grabbing me. I kinda like the King boo gem it has going on with its flame but it doesn't feel next level.
It's definitely a harder concept to push farther. Most recognizable bigger light sources start going away from open flames (or being found in mansions, for that matter). And going all-out on the size of the fanciest chandeliers seems like more of a GMax gimmick than a Mega one. So while I can see the complaint that it's a bit basic, I can't really imagine that much I'd do differently.

Perfection is hard to improve on, I guess.

Its shed skin and usually yellow...idk what else they could have done. Maybe a more sandy color? idk

I totally understand why it's white. It's a striking color that provides contrast to its yellow and its non-mega form and shed skin in real life will become pale over time. I also think it might be potentially meant to look like a skull.

However you did make a Pokemon whose shtick is having a white hood so I dunno! Maybe try a different tact! Maybe it becomes a fantastical color!

They were unchanged for the most part though. It was only Samurott and Kleavor (and also Goodra randomly I think) that had their abilities changed, and that was only because they both got Sharpness, which didn’t exist then. Since they presumably won’t be introducing new abilities in champions I think whatever’s in the code will carry forward.

Drampa looks sick as hell. Chandelure is cool but kind of whatever, I was expecting a bit more but its base design is already pretty cool. Scrafty kinda sucks lol.

Really excited to see Froslass, since the design sounds great and I’ve always loved the line. Also eager to see Eelektross since I can’t visualise the description at all really.

For what it’s worth, I feel like it having its face exposed at least helps to mitigate the resemblance. A lot of the fan art based on the leaked description didn’t do that, and had the hood covering the face entirely (as Klan hoods do), which looked so much worse.

I'd like to think we live in a world where most of the people will get the intent of the design and be normal about it, but considering it took less than 20 minutes for someone to make the immediate and unfortunate joke and the uh....current political climate maybe we could have saved it for at least one gen over.
You know what? I actually don't hate this. it reminds me of like a toy or action figure where you squeeze the legs or arms and it transforms, like a power ranger toy or a transformer. Also, I can already guess that the inspiration may have come from an old game and its various offshoots:

Most likely, and the giant red mohawk seems like it would be difficult to actually pull over the face (& it's not like Scraggy's 3D model ever did that). Still

Yeah I think that for the most part, even if they might get tweaked again, we'll be able to look at whatever the ability they have listed and take it as a pretty safe assumption until proven otherwise.

That said, I can believe in Mega Zygarde getting a brand new ability in Champions, if any of them do.

Actually, as per Serebii, in addition to the ones you listed, the Growlithe line, the Sneasel line, the other starters, Braviary, and Basculegion also got their abilities updated between Home and SV. All of these into abilities that already existed in Gen 8. This is a significant chunk of PLA's new designs and implies we should not take the ability datamine as gospel.

Having seen the video of Drampa, it's definitely going on my team now.

Chandelure looks good enough, but I saw some fan art imagining the extra arms as spider legs (kind of like that one animated scene of cofagrigus crawling around), which I think would have been cooler.

Scrafty looks better than I might have feared based on the description, but it definitely seems like going with a dark grey or something might have avoided most of the memes that will spawn.

Feraligatr looks too similar to its base form. The idea of the big head and arm teeth is neat in theory but I don't care for the execution.

Emboar is... better than Feraligatr but still a mixed bag. Mostly I just don't like the way its hair is looking so far. Looks like they accentuated the unibrow, and it has a warrior man-bun or something. The rest looks good. I'll probably still choose it, but if I hadn't already used Meganium on my Gold/SS team I would definitely have gone for Mega Meganium, which I think looks the best of the 3. Mega Meganium played it more safe, but I think it worked better than the other two.
