SLATE 8: THE FUTURE OF HYPE
“The greatest gift for a Pokémon’s reveal is having it be featured in an area of the generation before the generation it was going to release in. There have been many examples of this in the past, and all have amazed us with what the next generation could bring. In Generation 1, Ho-Oh provided us with the first sign that the franchise would expand beyond 151 Pokémon, Togepi provided Misty with the companion she needed, and Lugia, who was originally built for it’s debut movie, showed the full potential of the legendary birds. In Generation 2, Latias and Latios made the stars of the film about heroes, and Harrison’s Blaziken, notably the only fully evolved starter to appear in an area of Pokémon before it’s debut generation, shook the Silver Conference. In Generation 3, Munchlax was caught by May before any of us could, Bonsly soon followed in the care of Brock and Mime Jr in the care of James, and Lucario, one of the most popular Pokémon to exist, kickstarted thousands of fanfictions with his debut film, while Manaphy spearheaded Pokémon Ranger with it’s unique quest. Not to mention, Bonsly was even useable in XD’s Battle Bingo. Generation 4 brought Zorua and Zoroark to the big screen with a method to obtain it that required HeartGold and SoulSilver, and Generation 6 introduced Magearna, who notably got a card before Sun and Moon was even revealed. While these kinds of reveals have since died out…no-one knows if they have died forever. And the lesson to learn from this...is to always have high hopes for those who have been revealed before their games have.”
These are your next three designs itching to join the metagame: They might look like they're too good to be in this generation...and that's because they are. Remember, take all the previous winners into account when designing them all! So, without further ado, here they are:
DESIGN A:
DESIGN B:
DESIGN C:
You have until Sunday the 14th of September to cast your submissions...GOOD LUCK!
TIEBREAKER! (NOT PART OF THIS SLATE)
Design C from the previous slate is under another vote, this time between Cyaneedle's Fabuluster and PalpitoadChamp's Rainmaw! Cast your vote by listing it's name beforeWednesday Friday, but I'd prefer you'd vote for the former for the sake of us not having "Oh, please, PalpitoadChamp owns two slates?"
COUNCIL STILL WANTED!
Now that this metagame is seven slates old, we really need someone to look at our list of Pokémon and see if anyone's the king, or needs a buff! Not to mention, those custom moves and abilities still need to be coded in. If you have what it takes, PM me at Discord!
