Look At What I Chained - Mark II

Actually I was thinking about this the other day and it's actually not a huge waste competitively. A leadBat to set up a weather team is still very viable on almost all tms!

Something like Taunt/Rain Dance/U-turn/Toxic or Aerial Ace would work nicely.

I suppose that could work... I've never really been interested in Rain Teams, though.

Anyways, Bronzor is being a pain to chain. :( 10% appearance rate isn't fun...

and here my shiny zubat is bold lol :(

i was thinking of taunt / toxic / u-turn / haze though.
maybe even roost or protect as the last move or (like you said) rain dance or sunny day

Rightyho; I'm a bit confused right now.
I've been IV checking my Teddiursa's that I've chained, and I came across this;

dpmfsa216.png
rsitem008.png

Adamant - Pickup (Guts)
26
/ 31 / 24 / 23 / 0 / 0 - the IV code places the IV's in this order; HP / ATK / DEF / SPE / SpA / SpD

Well, thats what my IV code was saying anyway. So I wanted to just double check on Metalkids, and that's just come up with this;

26-27 / 31 / 24-25 / 0-3 / 22-23 / 22-23 @level 50 - Ursaring

Pretty nice huh? Now which one do I bloody believe?! It's telling me that only one of the stats could be 0.
I'm inclined to believe Metalkids, as It just seems much more reliable than some AR code.

Apart from that (if it turns out to be the latter) I'm not all that impressed with my chain.
I'm now sick and bloody tired of green pokemon! (Nidoqueen, Bellsprout, Machop, and now Teddi; Argh!)
But, it did produce a couple of pretty good 'mons;

Adamant - Pickup - 20 / 23 / 27 / 26 / 28 / 4
Adamant - Quick Feet - 23 / 30 / 26 / 15 / 12 / 10
Jolly - Pickup - 26 / 31 / 15 / 22 / 15 / 24

Thoughts anyone?

I was chaining Teddiursas, I thought that made me special :(

Also, 8% appearance rate is even less fun than 10%
My last chain broke on 21 and I really don't know if I can be bothered anymore.

Hah, I'm going for Mankey next. Pity me with 2% appearance rate.

If one IV's 0, all the other IVs listed in order is listed as 0 after it. Metalkid's right.

Just hit shiny #60 on my Eevee chain, which I've been at for several days now. It's a girl!

So far I've caught all with a Timid Synch. I can catch 90 more until my boxes fill up (should I make it that far). I'm thinking of doing 10 more Timid, then 50 Modest and 30 Bold maybe...

Edit: Now at a chain of 123, my longest ever (typically I stop at 100, 111, or 122 if I make it that far). I've caught 88 shinies: 70 Timid, 18 Modest. Mostly Nest, Dusk, and Luxury Balls for Timid, all Dive so far for Modest (will switch to Premier and Luxury). I would have caught at least 30 more shinies, but the Trophy Garden has so many edges that I refuse to enter patches on.

:D

It is probably answered in this thread, but...

What do you mean by "reset"ting the Radar?

Also, if I now have a dead Sync Adamant Abra and a MagnetPulling Magnezone (duh), how is the best way to chain Beldum? (Eww the sandstorm sucks!)

EDIT: Plus, what about if I cannot find any 4-aways while chaining?

Resetting the radar is walking 50 steps and using the radar again, to find more patches.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think its dead puller -> syncer. Maybe someone can clarify / correct?

If you dont find any 4-aways, you reset the radar. Or, you can be a daredevil and go to a 3-away. :3

I have a question.

XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXYXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX

Diesel has said that there will always be a 1-away, a 2-away, a 3-away, and a 4-away. If I'm right in thinking a four-away is the green patch, then how come I get spreads like this?

XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXYXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX

The two bolded patches are both 1-aways, aren't they? :x

And Diesel, I don't know the exact formation, but you said that a formation like this was safe:

XXXXXXX
XXX1XXX
XXYXXXX
XXXX2X4
XXXXX3X
XXXXXXX

It was something like that, but the two and four are in the same line. Isn't that bad?
Anyone? ^^;

Please help...

But why resetting the Radar when you can bet for continuing the chain?

Resetting the radar by walking 50 steps (or however many are needed to recharge it) and using it again does not break your chain. All it does is give you a new set of patches in case the set you already have is dangerous (no patches of the same type, no 4-away or 4-away is on the edge of the grass, etc.).

Also, you generally do not want to go into any patch that is less than 4 spaces away (in a single direction) because patches that are closer have a higher chance of breaking your chain, forcing you to start over.

You can always do an IV battle...

Is this decent? I feel like I can do better...

29/19/24/30/27/29 - HP Grass 61 - NAIVE

What nature?
Whoops, forgot to add that.

This is the day when I realize that chain is not broken by resetting the radar. Thx!
Oh yeah, how do you combat snadstorm and snow while chaining?

What about, say, if I am chaining Machops in 207, the patch is not really big so I might risk falling into "don't move to the edge of the grassland", what is the best way to ease my progress?

Yup, you keep your chain when you reset the radar. Just make sure you don't walk too far away from the patches that were already there, otherwise your chain will break anyways.

As for sandstorm/snowstorm, afraid there's nothing you can really do about those. :( Supposedly it's easier to see the patches in platinum, but chaining is also supposedly a little bit different there as well...

*EDIT*
You can actually leave the grass if you want, just make sure the patches that shook do not leave the edges of your screen.

Wait I don't get this, really don't.

Have you even read the guide?

What nature?
They are pretty nifty IV's tbh, shame you got the 30 in SpA not ATK :(
Would have been nice in an Ultra Ball :)

Any comments on my Teddi's anyone?
Yeh I could do I suppose, but Lorak was right as I've found out, so the IV's for that Teddi are actually;
26 / 31 / 24 / 0 / 23 / 22

That Teddy is amazing imo. =0

And:
Oh yeah, how do you combat snadstorm and snow while chaining?
Lorak found out that the blue part of 3D glasses (name escapes me) makes the sandstorm easier. BUT, the red makes it harder. Snow isn't beatable as far as I know.

Thanks!

Oh and regarding your patch-location question, I have no idea. Maybe when Diesel said there will always be 1,2,3 and 4 away, maybe he meant in order for the 4th patch to be 'perfect', it will have this combination?

Oooh, that WOULD make sense. I wondered why some chains broke randomly. Can someone clarify this?

I caught 101 dooms. The best was the second I caught, but I didnt check right away because it had no 31 IVs! I'll post them here soon.

Cellophane. The blue cellophane filters out some wavelengths of the disturbing layer of the sandstorm, making it easier to see the grass beneath and the flashes of light versus wiggling. Practice and experience in the sandstorm also aids this process.

Lorak uses a sheet of cellophane to make his special Sandstorm glasses. Go-Goggles, anyone? :P

Edit: lol Lorak beat me to it!

About your patch question, ShinyHunter.

I usually notice that most of the time I use the Pokeradar, 4 patches usually fall into a 1,2,3, and 4 position, although I didn't notice if this happens every time. I should make a log about which patch formations I see.

About that ideal patch formation, it's fine if the 2 patch and the 4 patch are lined up in the same row; I don't recall breaking my chains when entering such a formation. It's imperative though that you don't go into a 4 patch that is touching a 3 patch because it never fails to break my freakin' chain! (lol)

That Teddiursa is sweet, GengisTron! Those extras would make pretty sweet parents, too. And I know what you mean about all of the green shinies! (Seriously, Gamefreak, get some color sense!!)

_zl, that Luxray is godly, but then I saw the Dusk Ball... :P

lol, it's still a great catch all the same! (I sometimes wonder why Gamefreak doesn't give us a chance to swap the types of pokeballs of our pokemon..)

Aahhhhh, Diesel, you're reigniting my passion to chain for Eevees again!! I had stopped chaining for Buneary after I caught a shiny, Jolly one (will figure IVs soon). The fact that it only learns Switcheroo by breeding has made it worthless to me, lol. Then I started chaining Seedots for a shiny Shiftry, but I lost interest after like breaking chains a bajillion times in a row. I felt like I lost my touch, but maybe now I'll try again!!

These are all Timid shiny Houndooms, unless stated otherwise.

26/10/29/23/22/26 - HP Rock 67
Bold - 4/26/21/31/18/28 - Rock 61
30/29/5/20/23/26 - Water 56 [Hits TTar, fires, rocks, and grounds.]
28/22/6/31/26/14 - Ground 69 [Slow, but shiny!]
9/17/26/18/27/26 - Fire 68 [HP fire! :O] [sarcasm]
14/22/22/26/16/10 - Fighting 49 [Slow and low power]
5/21/26/28/23/4 - Fire 52 [Slow piece of shit?]
10/24/24/26/26/1 - Flying 61 [Slow, flying, toss?]

They're the best of 101 shinies. I might check the rest later for HP Fighting, if I haven't released them.

They're my shiny Houndooms. The top one was the first caught, and I didn't check it at first. D:

Is the HP Fight 49 any good? I like the water, since personally, I prefer water. I heard fighting hits TTar harder, but water hits more.

Thanks. I guess it doesn't even matter if there's one in each, lol.

I always thought that two patches in the same line were bad. It's one of my little things I avoid anyway, so I guess I'll keep doing it unless I'm desperate. :P
