Marvel v Capcom 3 discussion

If they weren't going to do spectator mode, couldn't they have had two people play each other while the main match was going on? Make it more like the lobbies on PO?

or, at the very least, make it possible to invite friends to lobbies on the first try without seeing a bunch of "could not join session" error messages.

So... Phoenix. I'm looking at her usage dropping significantly pretty quickly. Justin Wong pretty much laid down the blueprint for slapping down Phoenix in the tournament he just won with smart snap-out play, and now it looks like Phoenix is gonna be just as much of a liability as she is a boon to some extent- if your opponent knows good snap combos and doesn't drop them, you're basically fucked. Still, it'll be interesting to watch. I know one guy in the tournament got his Phoenix snapped out and proceeded to just kill the fuck out of his opponent with crazy rushdown with no Dark Phoenix.

Dark Phoenix with X-Factor is, in my experience, even more of a threat than Lvl. 3 Sentinel. Even with his more substantial bulk, she has mobility and spam to spare that makes anything you do punishable with a face-full of fireballs, teleport into combo, or even a straight-up super.

On a different note, I'm trying a new team:

Hulk @ Gamma Wave
Magneto @ Disruptor
Hsien-Ko @ Senpu Bu (The swinging chain assist)

Hulk is great on point, and his combos are becoming easier to pull off now. Magneto's Disruptor assist is great for counter-spam, and Hsien-Ko can do work with her assist once she gets armor.

On that note, Hsien-Ko's chain assist with Super Armor is fucking AMAZING. Once she comes in almost nothing can hit her out. Plus, it's super easy to follow up the last hit and continue the combo. It's definitely worth the meter, though it's a shame the boost is not substantial enough for anything but buffing her assist. :/

Now Hulk I'm pretty sure I like, but I want some feedback on my other two chars - Magneto and Hsien-Ko. Something about my whole team just seems off, and while I'd like to chalk it up to lack of training with them, I'm still open to suggestions. Any tips for how to up my game with these two?

Your team is okay, it's probably better to start Magneto rather than Hulk (there isn't really a reason to not have Magneto to start, and Hulk kind of sucks without meter). If you really want to start off with Hulk, I suggest changing one of the other characters. You can either get a meter building character (Doom, Wesker etc.) or a character with meter building assists (Amaterasu, Morrigan, don't know if there are others).

I've been running with Sentinel @ Sentinel Charge, X23 @ Ankle Slice and Morrigan @ Dark Harmonizer (Meter building) to some success. I am thinking of changing X23 to another character who can fascilitate Sentinel's combos though, perhaps Doom or Iron Man. Any thoughts?

This. People are forgetting that Phoenix herself is mad useful (albeit extremely difficult to use) Also it should be noted that you can teleport if you are snapped in. I also hated the "Phoenix is broken!" spammers, especially after she got destroyed by J-wong. I'm glad she's dropping usage, those band-wagoners made me sick.

Ive been moving around with some characters as well.

Been swapping Arthur for Amaterasu with Cold Star now, so currently my team looks like this.

Spencer - Armor Piercer
Hulk - Gamma Wave
Amaterasu - Cold Star

that Slow ultra is amazing against slow characters, and besides, I need tricks up my sleeve :P

Shadow Mode is pretty disappointing, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they made future CPUs cost money. If the producer and whoever else they made CPUs for truly suck this bad, then I can safely say they were replicated perfectly. =]

I've always been kinda questionable about Hsien-Ko in general. She's retardedly weak to rushdown, and she has to not only get in but also spend a bar to activate the thing that makes her assist so useful. If I were you, I'd consider maybe Tron with the flamethrower assist over Hsien-Ko, though I'm not sure how good your Tron is. Flame assist is stupidly fast and retardedly hard to punish- the only reason that Hsien-Ko's assist is better is because it LOOKS punishable, but actually isn't, so it makes people do stupid things.

EDIT: Also, seconding leading with Magneto over Hulk.

i was disappointed too. i beat them all without much effort. but hey, more titles.

^ Was actually in the process of watching those before our matches. The Trish gameplay actually got me really interested in her so I'm trying to pick her up, so hopefully the next time we play you'll be able to see something other than Zero/Wesker/Dorm. =P I'm also really interested in her scythe super shenanigans; apparently you can avoid Advancing Guard by calling Assists or switching out or something, and do crazy mixups. So at this point I'm kind of trying to build a team around her. Any suggestions are welcome, I'm also super interested in Arthur at the moment but I don't really know what kind of synergy they'd have.

Good games again by the way. My Zero did get a whole lot better once I got the hang of his command dashes and started DHCing more. I'm still loving your Chun/X-23/Morrigan team, though. X-23's level 3 is pretty badass with all that meter, and her low assist probably complements Chun really well (don't remember if that's the one you actually use though).

Ya that's the assist I use; I need to use it more often though (most of the time I use the Morrigan assist). I need to start using X-23's command dash as well (since you pretty much just teleported everytime I came near you from the air lol).

just got some matches in against Kristoph, GG's man, I really need to learn how to get in safe on dormammu, also ambiguous crossups suck :P god zero teleports are annoying.

but some of the games were very close though ;)

Yeah, good games for sure. I need to respect Hulk more haha, both on point and as an assist. And yeah <3 Zero, I can actually (sort of) open people up with him, or at least moreso than with Wesker.

Gonna be trying out She-Hulk soon, Justin made her look way too fun. =( First "grappler" I've ever really cared about in a fighting game so far.

Hulk is quite good, but I dropped valuable Combo's in our matches though, sloppy from me. although Spencer is still awesome in my book, albeit if he misses the wire grabs he's fucked when opponents are near, end of story :P

Yeah Hulk is definately a beast imo I like pretty much all of the players. I am working on techniques right now just so I can beat people extremely well any suggestions???

Currently running with:
Zero with his DP
Ammy with Cold Star
Dr. Doom with HIDDEN MISSILES

I feel like I don't use Zero properly and I wanna replace him with another rush down character. Any suggestions?

Also Haggar is so much fun to use but I suck at getting in with him.
