A friend from over on Zeldauniverse's band. They're called The Rose Line. He plays bass.
Generic & terrible band Hot Topic dwellers will love #2,918, coming soon.

Edit:

But really though, your friend's band is about as lame and bad as every other 1,000 Pierce the Veil and A Day to Remember clones. I'll politely pass on them.

Damn. If insulting someone and calling them bad is what you consider polite, then I would be shocked at what you consider rude.

If you're a legitimate heavy metal fan and legitimate heavy metal musician (or musician in general) one should be able to take criticisms at all cylinders, judging by them though, they probably aren't gonna care what a heavy metal fan into stuff like Dark Angel or the Melvins says about their trendy band, I'm not their target audience, scene kids are.

it's ok to not like them but there's no need to be an edgy asshole

eh, it seems kinda vanilla without the harsh vocals.

nothing really stood out for me after one listen.
yeah, like Tea_Demon said, they lack the crunch from One. However, I do like the more ambient qualities, and it's certainly a hell of a lot better than the EP they did last year.

MESHUGGAH - bleed

is music good an a sweden metal band also..video music

Oh good, somebody else bumped this thread so I don't have to do it myself. /shame

I have this little metal project I call Demon Spawn. I've been working on this project for a while, and I guess I can finally post it here. It started out as a grindcore project, but I'm not really sure what it is at this point - hell, one of the songs has a really heavy beatdown influence and another is basically a thrash metal song. I actually make these on GarageBand, which means I probably won't be making any more of these until next fall (assuming uni has Macs, those are expensive as fuck though so none for me). There are a couple obnoxious breakdowns in there, so if you're a purist like ufoivy you probably won't like it.

Also, if you like the Facebook page it will make me feel good about myself :D

how you say metal speed? of track 3 is good, i like for the part in middle. but you are good yet break down at minutes.. i thinks you need a stay same path for your song, is then that it sound good. not change in all times. you are lack in bass to. plus beat, minus extra "string" , i think.

Lavos

it has more in common with funk than metal.

let's just call it aggro-funk, then it wouldn't be a subgenre of metal, right?
I've been thinking recently about sentiment like this and wondering if that's a fair assessment.

I mean I guess I understand the sentiment of "This is not in any way like any other metal that exists, therefore it's just aggressive versions of the other Parent Genre", and in reality I agree with it in the vast majority of cases.

But honestly I can't really pinpoint what is Metal and what isn't in definiable terms to where I can say definitively that this song isn't metal:

I can hear where it differs and where it branches off, but don't all sub-genres? Isn't that the point? And I also definitely hear the metal influence. It's right there. To my ear it sounds rather like watered down Melodic Death Metal.

Maybe I just suck and don't understand?

If anyone could tell me the difference I'd honestly love to hear it. Or like, I don't fucking know a link to some extensive overly long musical analysis on the subject.

idk, i really like how bodom are returning to their black metal roots! it's definitely a lot better than everything post-follow the reaper.

also parkway drive are good and atlas is an amazing album don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Parkway Drive? Children of Bodom? Meshuggah? Did someone post a memo & decide to make a let's post "metal" I happen to not like / care for week? Anyway, if you haven't listened to it, I highly recommend Chapel's 2012 debut studio album, Satan's Rock 'n' Roll. Great stuff similar sounding to (and imo, better than) Midnight. It is the perfect mix of Venom and Motörhead.

this god damn dude knows what's up

unrelated i'm not really sure what to get for more manowar. i have gods of war live and louder than hell, but why would anyone sensible stop with that?

to contribute, friendly reminder that heavy metal is the one true religion:

I love this band and their brand of ultra murky death metal

The Atlas Moth - An Ache for Distance

A unique combination of atmospheric sludge metal, black metal vocals and some southern rock riffing every now and then

Hellwitch - Nosferatu

ultra spastic tech death / thrash from the florida scene. the album is short (25 minutes) but that's a fine length for something this all over the place

Regarde Les Hommes Tomber - Ov Flames, Flesh and Sins

cool mix of post metal and black metal from this new french band's debut album

Tokyo Blade - Night of the Blade

NWOBHM fans should give this a listen. Stands up to anything early maiden or diamond head put out imo. Razor sharp riffs and powerful vocals.
