Metalheads United ;D

New purified in blood is pretty great. Heard it yesterday and plan to hear it again soon. Any kvelertak fans? Cheak it out, it's not the same but it has some similarities...

I just recently got into metal.

For the time being I believe the first four metallica albums are the greatest albums ever.

Anyone want to expand my horizons, suggest me a band

What bands and albums by them do you already have? I do not want to recommend you anything that you already have.

@porky: Anthrax, Death Angel, Megadeth, Testament, Slayer, Skeletonwitch, Mantic Ritual, Toxic Holocaust, Metal Church. You seem to like thrash, I guess.

Opeth is the obvious recommendation.

check out Blackwater Park, and then just start exploring their (nearly) flawless discography.

also, i'm trying to get into death metal. any good bands?

Cynic - Focus
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Atheist - Piece of Time
Autopsy - Mental Funeral
Vader - Black to the Blind
Immolation - Close to a World Below
Carcass - Necroticism
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten
Death - Scream Bloody Gore

Just some stuff I like.

atheist - unquestionable presence
at the gates - the red in the sky is ours
the chasm - deathcult for eternity
massacra - final holocaust
gorguts - obscura

slayer - hell awaits / reign in blood aren't really death metal, but they are highly recommended if you haven't heard them yet.

Piece of Time > Unquestionable Presence and as good as they are I can't see someone who's just getting into death metal particularly enjoying either Obscura or The Red In the Sky Is Ours.

the red in the sky is ours was my first exposure to death metal. you're better off getting on the right track from the beginning anyway.

Piece of Time > Unquestionable Presence

wrong

anyways, on top of everything mentioned so far which is essential death metal, here are a few more recs:

Ulcerate - Everything is Fire
Pestilence - Consuming Impulse, Spheres
Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction, Epitaph
Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops
Behemoth - Zos Kia Cultus, Demigod
Bolt Thrower - Realm of Choas, but really anything by them because they're crazy consistent
Gorod - Process of a New Decline, Leading Vision
Dying Fetus - Stop at Nothing, Destroy the Opposition

and for laughs: Crotchduster - Big Fat Box of Shit

atheist - unquestionable presence
at the gates - the red in the sky is ours
the chasm - deathcult for eternity
massacra - final holocaust
gorguts - obscura

slayer - hell awaits / reign in blood aren't really death metal, but they are highly recommended if you haven't heard them yet.
I might try the chasm and massacra.
