Mewtwo/Rayquaza Offensive RMT (Uber RMT)

Hello; this is my first serious Uber RMT; I've updated the thread with some changes; current CRE is about 1565 (was #42 on the leaderboard), so the changes have been working alright, more are being tested; I'd like to take my first team all the way to #1!

At this point, I feel the team has reached a pretty good position; If I play well, there are very few teams against which I feel that this team cannot succeed; against stall, I have Mewtwo, Kyogre, and Dialga. Against Hyper offensive team, I have all the crucial resistances needed to smartly switch about, Dark Void for crippling a key member of their team, a revenge killer who doesn't care about wobbs, and an anti-lead to stop hazards; In addition to the natural bulk of many on my team, Wish support makes it much tougher to crack.

My only real issue with the team at this point, is how mauled it is by baton pass teams; I'm wondering if others feel that this is something worth addressing? I seem to not be seeing a lot of BP teams, and I can't see an "easy fix"

The team has undergone significant changes, and rather than update and do the whole red thing, I'm just going to post the current version of the team.

darkrai.png

Darkrai @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Bad Dreams
EVs: 4 HP/252 Sp. Atk/252 Spe
Modest Nature (+Sp. Atk, - Atk)
-Dark Pulse
-Dark Void
-Ice Beam
-Spacial Rend

Replaced Skymin, and similar to the way skymin did, doubles as my principle revenge killer. He can't stop RP groudon after the boost if sleep clause is activated, but he can otherwise, and since Groudon actually has a pretty tough time switching into my team as long as I always U-Turn first to scout with Rachi, this has yet to be an issue. He is my answer to DD quaza after a dragon dance, scarf-chomp, scarf-palkia, and therefore I chose not to run trick, because I need him for revenge killing purposes.

kyogre.png

Kyogre @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle

Evs: 4 HP/252 Sp. Atk/252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, - Atk)
- Water Spout
- Surf
- Ice Beam

- Thunder

So. Much. Rape. Freed from his duties as a paralysis spreader, Choice Specs kyogre is a touch of pure power the team was looking for; He lures in Bulk-Up dialga only to smash it with super powerful water-spouts, he's often capable of plowing through an entire enemy team; his synergy with the team is great; luring in Electric attacks for Dialga to come in on, and threaten with Draco Meteor or set up SR, while happily switching into the Ice attacks aimed at Rayquaza. The addition of Wish-Support means he gets more chances to fire off those legendary water spouts, and paralysis support means many of his usual counters can be crippled.

dialga.png

Dialga @ Adamant Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 6 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spe, -Def)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Outrage
- Stealth Rock

Hasty Mix-Dialga is a very useful member of my team; Thanks to his many resistances, he can switch in on a wide variety of threats, and set up Stealth Rock as they switch; He's capable of acting as a check to some Kyogre sets, as his resistance to Thunder and Surf allow him to check many Kyogre sets, due to his high speed and Outrage 2HKO'ing, and he is a great stall breaker, since Meteor lures in Latias, blissey, and steels by bluffing a scarf, only to be scorched by fireblast/hit by outrage. He's my teams best check against Adamant SD-Ray and Giratina-O, while simultaneously luring in Groudon, and severely injuring him with Draco Meteor.

Ideas: I do wish that I could find a way to free him from Stealth Rock, as I think the benefits of Running Bulk-Up on him would be Fantastic; but I can't find any other way to fit SR onto the team.

20071017144536-jirachi.jpg

Jirachi@Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Evs: 252 HP/40 Def /216 sp. Def
Careful Nature (+ Sp. Def, - Sp. Atk)
-Protect
-Thunder Wave
-U-Turn
-Wish

Jirachi took Scizor's place, and fits on this team unbelievably well; after Somalia suggested the set, I tried it out, and with a few more tweaks, was pleased with the results. Wish support really improves the longevity of my team, almost every member appreciates it; It cushions SR for skymin and quaza, Can let Mewtwo back in after taking a powerful hit for an important kill, and lets kyogre continue to huge high-powered water spouts. He's still capable of spreading paralysis, and scouting the team with U-Turn. The only loss here is priority, but the extra survivability, and improved bulk more than make up for it. I changed to a 252/40/216 spread, since his primary use was walling Draco Meteors and Spacial Rends, and He still walls unboosted outrages fine thanks to Protect. I also chose protect over Iron Head for easier Healing, as it's important Jirachi stick around as long a possible. He's also great because if the opponent has a groudon, I pretty much always find-out with a U-turn, and can bring in kyogre to start threatening the opponents team.

384.png

Rayquaza @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 4HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Jolly (+Spe, -SAtk)
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Extremespeed

Quaza, one of my favorite pokemon, and my primary Physical Sweeper. After some testing, and some further testing with DD quaza after the darkrai switch, I've decided I can't choose between ES and DD quaza; Palkia is lured in very well by kyogre, beaten by Dialga one on one, T-wave'd by jirachi, Often even beaten by Kyogre and Darkrai with smart switching; in short, I very rarely have any issue taking out Palkia so DD quaza can sweep. Both sets appreciate paralysis support, though the primary target is different. He has solid type Synergy with Rachi, is a great choiced quake switch in (looking at you Chompy). I'm currently just switching between sets kind of randomly, as both seem to work equally well on the team.

My reason for running extremespeed, is that I do not like to run a team without a priority attack; because of this, I believe I may start running the swords-dance set permanently, but with a Jolly Nature (As I need to be able to outspeed opposing kyogre, groudon, and dialga in order to hit them without the SD boost)

Though I'm open to changing sets, I'd really like to keep Rayquaza on the team.

mewtwo.png

Mewtwo @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Sp. Atk/252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, - Atk)
- Aura Sphere
- Ice Beam
- Taunt
- Calm Mind

My teams late game-cleaner, set-up sweeper, and taunter, and my favorite Pokemon. His primary function is to come-in after a Draco Meteor, or on a wall which can't do much to him, and either use Calm Mind or Taunt, and proceed to finish of the foes weakened team. He has plenty of other uses as well; He's a good revenge killer against opposing Darkrai and Dialga, and easily shuts down Baton Pass teams with taunt; He also shuts down most rest-talkers, and sets up a few CMs. Most pokemon he has trouble with are trounced by other members of the team (Scizor, Tyranitar, ect) so after they've been worn down, he's often very difficult to stop.

I tried the All Out Attacker set, and it's not bad, but I thusfar, prefer Taunt-two's bulk and ability to beat Lugia, stop blissey shenanigans, and rest-talkers.

Again, while I'm open to set changes, I'd really like to keep Mewtwo on the team.

Threat List

The Ubers
dpiconani491.gif
Darkrai: In the lead position, Dark Void. I have nothing to take the sleep, unfortunately, Considered switching to Timid for the speed tie. otherwise, Mewtwo, can revenge at worst.

Ani386AMS.gif
Deoxys-A: Quaza's priority, whether a hit and kill it, or revenge.

Ani386DMS.gif
Deoxys-D: Mewtwo shuts it down and happily sets up for a sweep.

Ani386SMS.gif
Deoxys-S: Air-Slash it. I usually stop it from getting up hazards; if it goes first, I know it's scarfed, and switch in quaza for a free SD.

dpiconani483.gif
Dialga: Dialga are tough pokemon; Kyogre ends up killing slower variants, while Jirachi takes scarfed dragon attacks and lets Mewtwo in to set up Calm Mind. Against Bulk-Up variants, Mewtwo can Taunt while it rests, and then Kyogre/Rayquaza come in to wreck it, or Mewtwo sets up.

dpiconani445.gif
Garchomp: Mewtwo handles any variety that isn't a scarf set, for Scarf sets it depends on what it's locked into. Rayquaza sets up on Earthquake, Jirachi comes in on the dragon attacks and uses U-Turn to scout the switch

dpiconani487.gif
Giratina: Dialga destroys in with Draco Meteor, Mewtwo sets-up on it.

giratinafori.gif
Giratina-O: Dialga's Draco Meteor, Or Rayquaza's Outrage in emergencies. Some variants (Rest Talkers) are beaten by CM-Mewtwo with good prediction (I switch in on the rest, taunt, CM).
dpiconani383.gif
Groudon: This is pretty annoying if it sets up Rock Polish; Kyogre, Mewtwo, and Darkrai beat all other variants. . If it gets a Rock Polish While sleep clause is active, it destroys my team. It very commonly switches in on Jirachi, which is why I've stopped thunder-waving before scouting to see if they have this thing; since so few run a lot of speed, I can almost always keep it under control since Everyone except Jirachi outspeeds and severely wounds him.

dpiconani250.gif
Ho-oh: An issue for the team if I don't have Stealth Rock in Play. I almost always have to let it take something out, and then force it to switch or perish with Kyogre.

dpiconani382.gif
Kyogre: Kyogre is outsped or speed tied by almost my entire team. SpecsOgre is of course, not a lot of fun, and I nearly always have to wait for an opportunity to revenge it with my own Specsogre, or Let dialga take it. Rest-talkers are beaten by switching in on the rest, taunting, and going to quaza or dialga to threaten.

dpiconani380.gif
Latias: Rachi on Draco Meteors, then U-Turn; Mewtwo can take care of a weakened one or set up post-draco meteor, and Dialga can come in after a Draco Meteor and force it out with the threat of Outrage.

dpiconani381.gif
Latios: Same as Latias.

dpiconani249.gif
Lugia: Defensive variants get set-up on by Mewtwo, hit hard by Kyogre and Dialga. They are rarely an issue. Offensive varieties are just, absolutely terrible for the team. The set that runs CM, Aeroblast, Earthpower, and Roost is Awful. Darkrai can't revenge it, though he can stop it with sleep clause not active; it outspeeds kyogre, who can't kill it with Thunder after a CM, and it pretty much OHKO's Mewtwo with Aeroblast (hurts Kyogre a lot too). I would love suggestions about how to handle this guy.

dpiconani490.gif
Manaphy: This is sort of an issue. It is normally unable to beat kyogre; and if it's the rest tail-glow set, I bait rest, go to Quaza to negate hydration, and SD set up

dpiconani151.gif
Mew: My team is pretty BP weak, and this is annoying.

dpiconani150.gif
Mewtwo: Obnoxious. If I see Leftovers, Kyogre is normally able to handle it, and often times I revenge with Kyogre regardless. My own Mewtwo can taunt it to stop it's taunt, after which I can often force it out with Jirachi, due to the threat of thunder-wave. Extremespeed and Darkrai help in revenging it. Slower, stallish variants are set-up fodder for my own Mewtwo.

dpiconani484.gif
Palkia: Quaza's priority helps, and it can't take repeated hits from Kyogre. Usually once I know my opponent has it, they've switched into Water spout, and on the next switch in, are surprised with an Ice Beam. Choiced variants (which most are), are predicted around; Rachi takes Dragon attacks, quaza, kyogre, and dialga can all come in on water attacks; darkrai can stop it with spacial rend.

dpiconani384.gif
Rayquaza: SD sets are not crazy about Dialga; DD sets are revenged by Darkrai after baiting the Outrage. Mix-Quaza is sometimes pretty tough to predict around; At worst, Mewtwo and Darjrau can revenge it, but I am usually able to stop it by baiting Draco Meteor, taking it with Rachi, and scouting the next move with Protect.

Shayminskyform.gif
Shaymin-S: Dialga is my usual answer, as he does severe damage with Draco Meteor, and can easily get in on scarfed set. Any non-scarfed set, is destroyed by Mewtwo or Darkrai. Quaza hurts it a lot with ES, too.

dpiconani202.gif
Wobbuffet: Eh, no counters of course. My Mix Dialga can often beat it, and if not, Mewtwo forces it out or sets-up on it. For some... odd reason, these things like to come in on Jirachi. I usually use Wish while they use Counter, then U-Turn out to Mewtwo or Kyogre as they use Encore (or counter again, against smarter players). Second time around, if they try it again, I just U-turn at the start.

The Non-Ubers

dpiconani242.gif
Blissey: likes to come in to take draco meteors from Dialga, and is met with Outrage. Mewtwo can shut down support sets with taunt, and then switch out to avoid the seismic tossing.
dpiconani205.gif
Forretress: Kyogre hits it hard with Surf, , Dialga has Flamethrower, ect. Not a problem.

Heatran: Kyogre, or Quaza's EQdepending on what it's locked into (If Scarf, of course. If otherwise, not a problem)

Kingdra: Dialga can take it's Dragon Attacks, and resists water, while OHKOing back with draco meteor. Quaza can come in and negate the rain after it kills something. Darkrai can beat it with spacial rend
dpiconani448.gif
Lucario: I haven't encountered one yet; I'd say dialga should be able to handle it, though I could see it causing problems for the team if he goes down.
dpiconani272.gif
Ludicolo: This thing is just really annoying. It hates Taunt, though.

dpiconani376.gif
Metagross: Surfs from Kyogre, EQs from quaza.

dpiconani291.gif
Ninjask: Unforunately, my only taunter is Mewtwo X_x, so this can be reasonably annoying. I usually go to Kyogre, as it can't really baton pass to most things against kyogre's onslaughts. thankfully, due to how it sucks against pretty much every team but mine, I never see it.
I dislike this weakness, as I don't really like baton pass teams, but I can't figure out a way to work a phazing move into the team.

dpiconani212.gif
Scizor: Dialga can usually handle it; Kyogre owns it.

dpiconani227.gif
Skarmory: Dialga can crisp it with Flamethrower, Mewtwo taunts it and says, "lol"

dpiconani248.gif
Tyranitar: No one is too afraid of T-Tar; Kyogre crushes it, Dialga can hit it pretty hard with Outrage, Mewtwo can severely hurt it with Aura Sphere, Quaza can EQ.

Thanks in advance!

I Like your team and congrats on making it although I have one nit-pick and even though I aint anything special in ubers, why not change scizor for jirachi. Firstly jirachi has the same dragon and ice resistance as scizor and it can take alot more hits. nstead of sacrificing turns to get thunder wave on kyogre's counters, let jirachi do that job.

Jirachi@leftovers

-T-wave
-U-turn/Protect

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot; I've been testing that Rachi set, and I quite like it. I've made some changes to the team, I'll update the thread soon. Basically, I switched to a lead Shaymin-S, dropped Palkia, and I use Shaymin S as my premier revenge killer, and changed Kyogre to a choice specs set. With Rachi now spreading paralysis, I've got a better anti-lead and Kyogre capable of doing a pretty good bit of damage to bulk-up dialga.

I think you should consider changing to the SD ray set, because running adamant will really help when using him as a revenge killer, and also, now that scizor is gone, Ray is your only priority user, so every espeed needs to count. Usually the only things able to stop an SD rayquaza sweep are scarfed steel types (dialga, metagross, and jirachi are the most common) , Scizor, and the odd gengar, all of which your team has ways of dealing with. The steels are all beaten by kyogre eventually, and even if it has to die to an explosion from metagross, you still come out on top because their answer to SD ray will be gone; scizor can be worn down by repeated draco meteors that it attampts to wall + stealth rock (and maybe spikes) to the point where a +2 extremespeed will kill it (around 40%, I think) or just killed by dialgas FB if it is silly enough to stay in. Lastly, if gengar shows up , it is pretty much a 100% guarantee that it will use HP ice, so that means free turn for jirachi, kyogre, or even dialga so long as it is at comfortable health. Also, because kyogre is such rape, scarf Palkia is EVERYWHERE, so DD rayquaza will have a hard time getting past it even with a +1 extremespeed.

Also, you have lucario WAY underestimated in your threat list; although it is pretty rare, if it gets an SD, you have nothing to stop it outside of hoping to win the speed tie with dialga. There is not a whole lot you can do to patch this up without drastically changing something on the team, but like I said, it is pretty rare.

You might want to use flamethrower on dialga instead of fire blast, because scizor and foretress are the primary targets and much more likely to switch into dialga than palkia (because they wall both STABs and don't really care about the odd earth power), and flamethrower will OHKO them both outside of rain, but does not have the inherent chance to miss and ruin both the surprise value, and the free kill that should come along with it.

One more suggestion : consider replacing earth power on skymin with healing wish. The times that you will find yourself using earth power are few and far between, especially because choiced ground attacks allow sooo many dangerous pokemon in ubers to set up, such as opposing ray and CM lati@s. I have been using the scarf set with healing wish for some time now and it really is surprising how often your *insert sweeper here* will be left crippled, but with enough health to survive the next switch into hazards, which allows you to make that wrong prediction and still be able to save your sweeper. Also, this allows for what I call "short sweeps", which I use to draw out my opponents check/counter to whatever my sweeper may be at the time. For example, say it is only a few turns in but you manages to predict a CB chomps earthquake, switch in, and get a DD. Now, you will be able to not only figure out what counter/check your opponent has to your sweeper, but also damage it in the switch in, and then either kill it if it can be 2HKO'd, or damage it more if it is something that will most likely only status you. This is ESPECIALLY helpful against stall teams, because they will have a lot of trouble defending against the same sweep twice, and are much more likely to rely on status (which can be healed with healing wish) to take you out. I guess the point I am getting at is that the safety net that healing wish provides is almost always more useful to me than the coverage given by earth power.

I hope this helped!

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I am about to starting testing SD Ray and the Healing wish on shaymin.

A question about Luke though; do most Luke's run adamant or jolly? Against adamant Luke, my Dialga should outspeed and OHKO with fire-blast. Moreover, the calcs I did for Jolly have Mewtwo and Kyogre guaranteed to survive a +2 Jolly ES after SR, and OHKO back with Aura Sphere or Surf, respectively; meaning Mewtwo will beat it, and it needs to speed tie with both Kyogre and Dialga. Jolly Quaza also outspeeds it, takes max 62.8% - 73.9% from a +2 ES, and OHKO's with Earthquake, though it is trounced by adamant after SR.

Honestly, I am not 100% sure, but I would assume adamant for the extra power, so provided that dialga is still alive, you should be able to beat it.

DD Rayquaza doesn't need Extremespeed as much as SD. +1 Espeed doesn't hurt enough, and +2 outspeeds everything anyway. Use Overheat, to kill Forretress. Also, the EVs should be 32 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD / 216 Spe.

Also, Wobbuffet usually Encores first, because they know Wish doesn't go on a choice rachi. Always U-turn, THEN Wish-Uturn.

A way to beat Ho-oh is Stone Edge/Stealth Rock on Dialga, but I don't think that's a good idea...

Anyway, nice team.

You'll probably want trick on darkrai so you can have the option of freedom of moves. Extremespeed and DD doesn't work too well on quaza as a DD boosted ES doesn't KO anything significant it fails to outrun. Go for overheat for steels or change to mixquaza.
