That's fucking absurd; no GM would EVER make a trade like that. Giving up 3 All-Stars just BEGINNING their careers including a guy who saved 40 games AS A ROOKIE, in addition to 3-4 top prospects AND a solid Major-league position player? If I were Texas, I'd want Felix AND Ackley for a Haul like that. Felix won't get moved for anything close to that.

Agreed. No GM in their right mind would even consider a trade like this if they were in the Rangers position.

I hope that Cashman doesn't even consider going after Ubaldo. Dude's seriously come down to earth after that electrifying start last year and it looks like the Rockies are drinking from the same cup that Buttered Toast is drinking from in regards to asking price.

Agreed, but in reality, Jimenez hasn't gotten the run support needed and that is why he has lost the majority of his starts. Some were just plain bad ( like that one against the Dodgers where he gave up a Grand Slam). And lately, he has pitched fairly well. In his last 8 starts, he has compiled a sub 3.00 ERA and went 5-3 (Again, run support)

In terms of giving up our top prospects, That is the reason we didn't get Cliff Lee last year from Seattle and Texas did (Cashman refused to trade Nunez). I think giving up those four players is a bit unreasonable, I think giving them Nova, Banuelos, and Montero for a struggling Ubaldo seems far.

In any event, we need some starting arms. Colon is slowly but steadily breaking down, and Garcia will last longer since he is more of a crafty pitcher than a power pitcher, but who knows if he still has another half of a season in him. Plus, we now only have maybe two legit starters against the Sox. i honestly don't care who he gets, but we need at least one other starting arm. Period.

Also, get rid of Sergio Mitre, he sucks.

Definitely need to get rid of Colon. Just look at what the Blue Jays did to him a couple days ago.

As much as I would like Jimenez, I wouldn't want to give up Nova. We all know the Yankees will make some sort of big move, but I would be happy if Nova replaced Colon in the rotation.

I'm still boggled by why they sent Nova down in the first place. That guy could be a real ace one day. Even when his best stuff wasn't working he still kept us in it. That game he pitched in Cincinatti was unbelievable. And 8-4 is nothing to laugh at, only one in our rotation with that type of win percentage is Sabathia. Everyone else is around .500. I also don't know why they released Brian Gordon. Could have been a nice trading chip.

That's exactly why they need to keep him. He's young, he's good, and he has pitched well against some of the best teams in baseball. Even if they still love Colon, at least Nova could replace Freddy Garcia.

And it was dumb releasing Gordon. It would be just as easy to send him down to AAA or something.

It doesn't matter if he's loved or not, if he sucks he can't start. They just need another decent starting pitcher that won't wear out as easily. What a year Petitte decided to retire :(

They sent Nova down because A) Colon and Garcia were both doing well B) Garcia's stuff doesn't translate well to the bullpen C) they wanted to keep Nova stretched out as a starter not put him in the bullpen and D) Nova is young and still has options; couldn't send Colon or Garcia down to the minors. With how he's done so far this season, Colon still probably has some sort of a leash after the Jays debacle, but everyone's seeing what was said about him since the start: looks great but how can he handle the workload of a full season?

Well he pitched great tonight, but won't get the win thanks to a pair of lucky errors for the Rays. In any event, even if Colon and Garcia last the year, we need someone for next year since chances are two years will be a stretch for those two. And none of our prospects will be ready until at the earliest 2013. I wouldn't mind if they even signed someone with OK numbers, they don't need a Cliff Lee.

Though it'd be sick to get Ubaldo, the Rockies are asking for Cliff Lee money for him. I know he's good, but you have no idea how he will fare in the long run since he is still young. And you have no idea if he will be a Halladay or King Felix-esque player ever and if so for how long.

Also, Ubaldo has only pitched decently in the NL and primarily the NL West, which has worse lineups than the AL East. He might not even be the stud that they would expect if they got him.

The Yankees also need a backup 3rd baseman until A-Rod comes back. Nunez is an utter bumb, and a error machine at 3rd base. Would expect them to make a move at the hot corner...

Kind of scared that the Red Sox are pursuing Beltran because I don't think he is worth the prospects. I would rather have the electric Josh Reddick with Ryan Kalish in the wings than Beltran for a year. I would rather go at Hunter Pence (who is reportedly close to being traded to the Braves) who provides you youth, a great bat, and a Vlad like arm in right. Even if Pence puts up average offensive numbers in Boston, his speed and arm will still be an upgrade from J.D. Drew. If Pence is too costly, I would hope that the Sox would just look to get a Veteran starter to fill in for the Japanese "superstar" known as Dice-K. Someone with a one year contract who we can release in the off season in exchange for a draft pick. With the offense being so good, the sox need some pitching. But with their Opening Day starter coming back soon, and Clay Buchholtz not far behind, that may be all they need to improve what is already a good starting combo.

Oh yeah, expect a trade of J.D. Drew...

Pena at third you mean. Yeah he sucks, fielding and hitting. Definitely need someone else there.
And I have to give it to Garcia, he pitched a gem yesterday.

I can only hope that the Red Sox don't improve their already ridiculous lineup, but they of course will. If anything, they need someone to replace Lackey, who has been terrible all year.

No, not Pena, as he is hurt with an appendectomy and will be out out 4-6 weeks. I'm talking about Eduardo Nunez, the team leader with 13 errors in a bench roll. He is 3rd in errors in the entire American league, even though he has only played in 58 games. His oWAR is only a 0.3, and his dWAR is a -0.5. He is obviously NOT the answer for the Yankees. Because of this reason, the Yanks are rushing Eric Chavez back from his injury. I don't think he is the answer, but at least he is an upgrade. His bat is still a big question mark, so I still say that Cashman will be looking for a utility infielder. Maube take a chance on an Andy LaRoache? Or an Alex Cora? Or a Casey Blake? Anyone to improve the hot corner until A-Rod comes back in late August...

Also, Lackey has not been all that bad, he just has not been the Lackey we saw with the LA Angles. (I'd still rather have him than A.J. Burnett.) But what they really need to do is get Kyle Weiland back down to AAA and get Wakefield back in the pen, as his starts are getting progressively worse, which is to be expected. Lackey won't be replaced in the rotation, we just need someone to pick up the slack a bit. Remember, Lackey is our #4 guy behind Lester, Beckett and Buchholtz. Miller has pitched better than Lackey, though his walks are a big problem. A rotation of Beckett, Lester (who is coming back this Monday), Buchholtz, Lackey, and Miller is perfect for contention. It's just that Miller is a big question mark with his wildness. A veteran pitcher might pick up some slack until Buchholtz arrives again, and then Miller can go to AAA and keep working on his control.

I guess I haven't watched too much recently...I'm used to Pena making errors.
Well they should get rid of/replace Nunez then. One of the reasons the Yankees have been so successful has been incredible defense with potential Gold Glovers all around their infield. A replacement would also need to make up for at least some of A-Rod's power.

Dice-K had one excellent year and then began to slide, even Sox fans know it. As for Pence, I can't see them going after him, simply because Ellsbury is having too good a year and they are very similar players. And Drew sucks. He swings at way too many first pitch strikes. Him and BJ Upton are worse of two MLB brother duos. Anyway, the Sox could grab Beltran, but they will have to give up a lot in return. It could be worth it though; he'd be nasty in Fenway.

As for Nunez, until Chavez or A-Rod gets back, he'll do. I'd rather have him than Pena, who is worse at fielding and has no pop in his bat whatsoever. At least Nunez has some offensive values, and his speed is very nice.

Also, I'm having second thoughts about the Yank's rotation. Thoughts? The old man duo both pitched gems against Tampa.

So, CJ Wilson has a WHIP of 0.25, a K per inning, no ER (one unearned) and 2 hits and he still loses.....fuck baseball can be cruel sometimes

Know how ya feel. CC outpitched Shields last night and just made two bad pitches that cost him the game (Longoria HR and Fuld Triple). Man, I hate the Rays. They honestly barely scrap by and Maddon has them all thinking they can win the east despite the fact they can't go toe-to-toe with the Yanks or BoSox. Most hitters in their lineup have sub .250 averages with a few exceptions. They just annoy me...

Kind of like how the Yankees think they can beat the Red Sox when their pitching is worse, their hitting is worse, their defense is worse, their speed is non-existent out side of Gardiner, their bullpen is in shambles, and they lost the last 11 out of 12 meetings against us?

Don't be quick to judge when you are in the same position...

Pitching: Our rotation is in shambles since last year, that's kind of a cheap shot. We lost our number 2 starter (Andy Pettite) who beat the Sox plenty of times in his career. We also didn't get Cliff Lee.

Hitting: You have A-Gon and Big Papi. That alone should give a pretty devastating line-up. Only one in our lineup who has been good all year is Granderson. Besides, you guys have JD Drew, and last time I checked his numbers weren't too great.

Speed: Gardner has more steals than Ellsbury. And even though they don't steal much, Cano, Martin, Cervelli, Granderson, Jeter, and even A-Rod have good speed. We are 3rd in steals in all of baseball, get over it.

Bullpen: We have the second best bullpen ERA in the AL (Behind Cleveland) and we're doing with a bunch of no-names like Cory Wade and Hector Noesi. And Mo is better than Papelbum with ever be. Also, I'll take anyone over Bobby Jinx

And you shouldn't really act like what you say is set in stone. Things change. You guys got some great acquisitions during the offseason and we didn't because we chased Cliff Lee and got nothing to show for it. And those meeting date until last year. We had a horrible second half, I'm really not surprised we got dumped on Texas in the ALCS. And you guys should be happy we split with the Rays, they are a threat to you as well.

Man, how about those Pirates? They seem to be a real force in the NL Central this year. I'm a Cardinals fan and we were lucky to pull out a win against them tonight. If we lose the division, I definitely wouldn't mind losing it to them.

Also, I really hope we get Heath Bell. Our bullpen is terrible. Salas is one of the few bright spots.

The real season doesn't start til October anyway. I don't remember any World Series being won in April-September.
