MLB World Series Official Thread

Oh please stfu. For those who aren't Yankee fans, please stop bashing on them.

When was the last time the Yankees won a World Series?!? My Point exactly. You guys didn't bitch about Boston winning 2 Worlds Series in 4 years. We didn't buy No Championship, we just outplayed the team in everyway.

PS: Steelers suck ass
PS: Lakers/Kobe are all scrubs.

One: You are an obvious hater

Two: The Red Sox are in the same bought when it comes to the Yankees buying players. As for those championships, do you not remmeber that both Manny and Ortiz (your two best hitters by far) have both tested for performance enhancing drugs?

Plus, to all you other haters: You can say w/e you want about the Yankees "buying" a championship, but you forget some simple points. They just won the ship with a spotty bullpen (besides Mo Mo of course), lack of a third/fourth starter, and the pressure that A Rod caused pre-season. They won with a 3 man rotation, with almost every pitcher on 3 days rest. If the Phillies followed this, they might of been able to push to a game 7 with Cliff Lee pitching. Plus, who else saw that pine tar blanton had under his hat game 4? And a note: This is all coming from a METS fan

Yes. The natural order has been restored. The Yankees have won another World Series. Matsui was so the MVP, having the 3rd highest BA of anyone in a World Series.

How about you shut the fuck up!! I don't even like the Phillies or anything, but when your payroll is more expensive per year then the economy of over 15 countries, you know you fucking bought a championship. You outplayed them, there is no denying that, but that would not have occured if it wasn't for your ridiculous financial muscle. Case in point, you didn't even make the playoffs last year! But lo and behold, a few hundred million spent on signing free agents here and there and voila, championship! The Yankees (and to a lesser degree, the Red Sox) in conjunction with a terrible playoff format is why of all major American sports, baseball is the worst to follow especially when you don't support one of the big two.

EDIT: OG, I guess you're right about the bullpen, but the hitting lineup the Yanks have is nothing short of insane

Ok, Mr ESPN Analyst. No wonder you came out crawling out your box. Your a "METS" fan. Well i got good news for you buddy, im also a Mets fan. I don't see why you aren't a Yankee fan yourself.

They won with a 3 man rotation, with almost every pitcher on 3 days rest.

What would you suggest, Analyst?! Oh i got a few reasons why!! the Yankees had no choice but to do that.

1. Who could of been the number 4 Starter?! Chad Gowden?! Sergio Mitre?!
If you were a Manager, Would you take the long way, and risk sending one of those 2 pitchers, and expect them NOT! to allow more than 3runs?! AGAINST THE PHILLIES? And those 2 haven't pitched since Late September... Or, would you rather go the short way, having your 3 best guys going on short rest. Which could also be more risky, but everybody has confident on them?! Obviously your not gonna go the hard way to win, you always gotta find a way to have the upper hand.

2. Lol, Spotty bullpen?! How many innings did you watch from all the games?! till the 5th Inning?! I'm guessing that must be the reason why you don't know what your talking about. Joba/Hughes/Marte <-- Main Relievers who appeared, actually doing there work. Another great Reliever was David Robertson, Who wasn't used as much. But hey, that kid could get the job
done. And Mariano isn't AS old as people think. He could pitch at least, 6 back to back games. And we we're trying to secure each win, when he came to pitch 2innings so yeah. Key Fact: Phillies<-- Best National League Team, and was ranked #2 behind the Yankees in MLB.

Lmao!!.

Why we didn't make the playoffs last year?!? We had a shit load of Injury's, we lost our best pitcher Ching-Meng Wang. And we also lost Joba for some time. I mean seriously. Thats all you guys could talk about.
"BOOOHOOO!!, THE YANKEES PAYROLL BAWW!!!" Jesus Christ, build a fucking bridge and get over it.

This argument is so tired because nobody argues the right issues. Criticizing our homegrown talent as a defense is shaky because it's our payroll that allows us to pay Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte, and Posada an average of $15 million per player per season. The reason that it's "fair" that we have such a high payroll is that 1) it's in the rules and we pay all the fees, taxes, revenue sharing, etc associated with it and 2) the reason we are in this position is because of some great marketing by team management. I'm talking about things like the YES network for example which is the biggest regional cable network and has generated a ton of revenue for the team which has then been reinvested into the team (while most of it anyway).

I would of probably never been in this argument if the Yankees had at least 7 All stars in there lineup. And if AJ won 17+ Games. But since AJ didn't have a good season and since only 4 players from the team made the All star team, i gotta drop my 5cents to see wazup with this ignorant bashing on the Yankees.

PS: When was the last time the Yankees won a tittle?

Your higher payroll is not because of some "brilliant marketing", it's because NY is a huge city and the Yankees are an old franchise with a billion band-wagon fans. If you moved the Yankees marketing team to a small market city like Cleveland or Minnesota you would see vastly different results (obviously).

Yes, you are right though. They aren't breaking any rules (well, they are, but they're paying their dues for said rules), but I think most of the people arguing against the Yankees right now agree that the rules need to be changed. There's no point in a salary cap if you can exceed it, and the sport is inherently unfair if some teams have individual players who make more money than entire other teams.

Of course the commissioner will never change that rule, because right now they generate a ton of income from teams like Boston and NY, and Bud Selig is more interested in money than fairness.

"Only" 4 players on the all star team this year? LOL. Sorry, that made me chuckle.

PS: When was the last time the Yankees won a tittle?

2000. Do you know how many teams are in a longer drought then the Yankees were? 23. Why are you complaining about being in the 7th shortest current world series drought? Winning twice per decade is pretty effed up for one team anyway, considering there are 30 teams. But the Yankees have won 25% of the championships since they were introduced, so 2 per decade is actually under their average.

But, you forgot that many of those 30 teams are garbage. Examples include, but are not limited to:

Baltimore Orioles
Cleveland Indians
Kansas City Royals
Oakland A's
Washington Nationals
Cincinnati Reds
Houston Astros
Pittsburgh Pirates
San Diego Padres
Arizona Diamondbacks

Like seriously, those teams shouldn't even be allowed in MLB.

Oh please stfu. For those who aren't Yankee fans, please stop bashing on them.

Yeah guys lets all have the exact same opinion!

Seriously it's great and all that the Yankees won, but if you can't take criticism of "your" team then don't talk about other teams at all, ever. I find it kinda stupid rooting for teams just because of your geographic location anyway. Sure, its your "hometown" team, but I'm a diehard Red Sox fan because I like the players on the team, not the "team" itself. I thought Manny was a whiny little shit even before he started dogging it.

When was the last time the Yankees won a World Series?!? My Point exactly. You guys didn't bitch about Boston winning 2 Worlds Series in 4 years. We didn't buy No Championship, we just outplayed the team in everyway.

Like Stallion said, when your payroll is more than the GDP of a few countries, you have issues. This is why America is so fucked up: we pay sports stars millions and millions of dollars, when doctors only get like 200K or so. It's out of control for every team, not just the Yankees and Red Sox and Angels.

Anyway, congrats to the Yankees on being the best team in baseball for the year, no matter how you got it.

You do realize Hughes/Joba were flawed starters right? Thats why they were in the bullpen, they were no where near trusted to actually start a game in the playoffs. Plus, my point is the Phillies coulda/shoulda done the same thing. Blanton had a 9 era against the yankees, and youd rather start him instead of having Cliff Lee pitch 3 games? Unless Charlie Manuel really thought that pine tar Blanton was using under his hat was really gonna work, it turned out to do nothing

And my bad from the Red Sox thing, thought you were a Red Sox fan from an earlier post

I was looking for that story to quell the Yankees's doubters that not all of us are idiots who sit on the fat load of cash we're making (*Hint*-A-Rod-*Hint*:naughty:)

Wow that's just awesome. Joe's a good dude. Onto next year, hoping to see the Yankees back into the World Series. Let's go for #28.

So true. Hopefully a new rule might come by and shit might change. I also Agree everybody should get the same benefits, as in Benefits i mean EVERY TEAM SHOULD BE GIVEN THE SAME THING. Like a certain amount of money for each team, to use it wisely. Like that shit won't hit the fan. But true man true, Players get paid Millions and we're the ones left out on our ass.

Sooooo when does the retarded HFA-decided-by-the-all-star-game rule get changed? Salary cap? Pshaw. Good ol' Major League Baseball, the worst league in major sports.

For those who aren't Yankee fans, please stop bashing on them.

We wouldn't very well be bashing them if we were Yankees fans, would we?

what the fuck man don't hate :pirate: The Reds finished higher than every other team on that list, plus the Blue Jays, LOLMETS, and White Sox. The Reds are perfectly mediocre with the second-best record under .500. The Mets are the one with the Yankees-level payroll but the Royals-level talent.

Talk about hating, you're the one hating on the Kansas City Royals. 2nd Best doesn't cut it in MLB. How many games were they behind in their division? 13. How many game behind in the National League Wild Card? 14. They barely made it past the San Diego Padres...

He's just doing it to annoy us Yankee fans...
Anyway, I DO wish the Yankees didn't spend as much.
Here's an example: Old Yankee Stadium price for a burger: $6.50.
New Yankee Stadium price for a burger: $12.50.
This is crap.
And you wonder why the economy is bad.... get a load of this!

I lol'd. Jay Bruce is gonna opt out and leave.

The Yankees won the World Series because they spent 200 million dollars (65 million more than the next highest spenders, the Mets) to assemble the best offensive lineup in baseball (and to get some pretty good pitchers as well).

The "LOLMETS" are also way more talented than the Cincinatti Reds. Dont look at the record, just look at the injuries. Fact: David Wright only bats .250 when he has Minor Leaguers in front/back of him. When 4/4 of our best players go down with injuries at some point in the year, obviously the season is lost. Just wait until free agency: Mets will get at least one big name, and SI didnt pick them to win the World Series for no reason. They're an extremely talented team, they just suffered from the injury bug/shit medical staff this year

To the rest of the Yankee HATERS: You need to learn that 200 mil in free agents doenst come with a guarentee. The Yankees were already an above average team, they just added more talent and everybody stayed healthy. Mussina retiring/Wong being dinged up were a major reason they spent money to get C.C. and Burnett. Also, just to use an example of how big names dont come with a guarentee: Carl Pavano is 1-0 when he comes off about 520 days rest. NOUGH said

This is all true.
The Mets have had some of the worst luck this past season because of injuries.
I don't like them, but if they hadn't had the injuries, we could have seen an New York-New York World series.

CC only had 3 days rest and he still only lost to Cliff Lee's awesome pitching. Talk about good pitching, both were excellent pitchers in Game one. Carl Pavano is only good off of 520 days rest.

New York - New York World Series would be pretty freking awesome.
