My thoughts on the cores.

Steel

Stakataka just plain sucks. Packing 4X weaknesses to Ground and Fighting is bad for Steel, as it already struggles with those types. It can do great work when if it gets to set up Trick Room, but finding space to do it is damn near impossible. I would not recommend using it ever. Jirachi on the other hand was a solid choice. SubCM is great for handling stally types like Grass and balanced Normal, but Scarf is solid too. Couldn't try Z Happy Hour as I had Suckataka using the Z crystal (without it Stone Edge is so shaky).

Congrats to Pepe Le Spew for winning the Steel Challenge! Unfortunately no one posted a peak for the Ground challenge :(

However Eviscerus won the Ground Win/Loss Ratio with an amazing 28/2 record. Pepe Le Spew also won the Win/Loss for Steel with a 27-3 win/loss ratio.

Also a big shoutout to our Platinum Rankers!
Actually Lucas (Steel)
Pepe le Spew (Steel)

Remember that this will be the final challenge until the MWP playoffs. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Remember Pepe Le Spew that you have to PM me your winning team for the challenge with a brief description.

Monotype Core Laddering Challenge Season 2 Cycle 4
2 Standard Cores, January 7 - January 21
1 Super Core, January 7 - January 17 (Details in this post)

Psychic

Reuniclus + Celebi
Tag : CCS2Ps4
Hall of Fame Rankings:

Platinum: 1600+
Gold: 1450+
Silver: 1325+
Bronze: 1250+
Reuniclus - Reuniclus is no stranger to seeing competitive play in the general usage-based metagame. However it isn't seen as much in monotype due to its very lacking typing and somewhat niche role. That being said, this niche can still be very useful and effective if a team is built to support it. Reuniclus' main niche is being a great Magic Guard lategame sweeper, which allows it to stare most passive pokemon in the face and set up on them. Due to its high bulk and decent movepool, it can pull of this feat easily in theory. However it cannot be ignored that taunt and haze / phase are big detriments to its niche, especially mons like Mantine who outspeed Reun and can Haze it before it attacks with its boosts. Despite this weakness Reun can still pull of this niche even against some offensive teams, so be sure to use it wisely.
Celebi - Celebi is a great Pokemon on Psychic as it is decently versatile and able to cover most roles that need to be fulfilled for a team. Whether it has to be a dedicated answer to dealing with types like Water, Electric, and Steel, or if it has to be a defensive rocker, Celebi can do it and do it rather effectively. With a decent movepool and general 100 Base Stats across the board, can dish out damage with Nasty Plot + 3 attacks or take attacks with its average bulk and useful typing. Regardless of the team, Celebi will likely find a great way to fit into it.

Flying

Aerodactyl + Hawlucha
Tag: CCS2Fl4
Hall of Fame Rankings:

Platinum: 1600+
Gold: 1450+
Silver: 1325+
Bronze: 1250+
Aerodactyl - Aerodactyl became a relatively popular Pokemon on Flying teams when the USUM metagame began to settle. This mon was able to be a great offensive threat to Electric types and other threatening Pokemon to the type. It's ability to become an Offensive Stealth Rocker or an All out attacker allow it to threaten many teams, which immensely supports its fellow teammates regardless of the archetype its on. Aerodactyl-Mega is obviously the most popular way to use Aerodactyl, but as a mega-less suicide lead with a focus sash it can also do relatively well. The only other leads that outspeed it or tie is Tapu Koko and Deoxys-Speed, every other viable lead is outsped thanks to its still blistering 130 Speed stat. Mega or megaless, Aeroadactyl can be a great asset to any flying team of any archetype.
Hawlucha - A rather overlooked Pokemon for Flying teams due to its popularity on Fighting-type teams. However the set that works on those teams also works well on Flying teams. Hawlucha is one of the few Flying-type Pokemon that actually use their main STAB move, and because of this it can easily help Flying win MU's much easier than normal. Its additional Fighting typing and access to High Jump Kick also allows it to be able to hit Rock and Steel-types that Flying teams can sometimes struggle with. Despite its measly bulk and very bad defensive typing, Hawlucha can still be a great asset to teams that need a lategame sweeper that can consistantly do its job.

*New* SUPER CORE CHALLENGE *New*
As of Cycle 4 there will be a Super Core Challenge Held at the beginning and end of every cycle. These challenges will require you to reach a peak elo of 1650+ with two very niche or underused Pokemon in less the time of a normal cycle. These pokemon may not work well together some times, but that makes the challenge even more exciting! The winner of this core (the first person to post a replay of them reaching this peak with this core) will get 5 additional points for the Cycle rankings. Have Fun!

This weeks super core is:
STEEL

Empoleon + Bronzong!
Tag: CCS2St4S

Peak needed to win: 1650+

Note: This project is now lead by Namranan and cohosted by Perish Song. So now all questions and suggestions regarding to CLC should be directed towards us now and not Illama, the former leader.

To register to participate in a core challenge, you must reply to this forum with the proper information to be eligible! See the example post below for details. This also applies for submitting peaks (with that said please keep all of your information onto 1 post)! Otherwise, refer to the Index Thread for the official rules and info on this project. Please make sure to post replays of your Hall of Fame Rankings, failure to do so will result in your post being ignored.

In order to win this challenge, one player must obtain the highest ladder peak with the given core. In order to be eligible for winning the challenge you have to either post a replay of your peak (Highest elo reached) or take a screenshot of your accounts highest rank on ladder. The person with the highest rank at the end of the week is the winner of the challenge and will get posted in a new hall of fame in the Index thread along with the team they were using. If you win, please PM the team to Perishing Song or Namranan along with a brief description of the team and how you got the elo you got to. (Replays are much appreciated)

Remember to keep track of your Win/Loss ratio because the person with the best ratio out of 30 games can get a shoutout after the challenge has ended. To submit your Win/Loss ratio just take a screenshot of your record and post it in your registration. The team with the best record will be added to its own Hall of Fame. That being said, if you win the challenge you must PM Namranan or Perishing Song your team with a brief description of how it works. If you do this even without winning you will still have your team posted in an honorable mentions section. You get 1 extra point this cycle if you submit your team.

Have Fun!
