Project Monotype Teambuilding Workshop

I'd be very interested in a psychic team built around a double dance/stored power/draining kiss Mew set. I've tried several times to make it work, but I can never quite manage to have consistent results with what I build.

Hello! I haven't been playing much Gen 9 competitive, but I wanted to make a Poison gym team for the Pixelmon server I'm playing on. I normally do Ice gym teams but I'm a bit bored of them, so I wanted to spice it up with Poison. I love Clodsire so I wanted to make a team with him on it.

Here's the team: https://pokepast.es/9c2379c3d611a41a

I figured I would use Clodsire and Toxapex as special and physical walls respectively with Sneasler and Iron Moth as my sweepers, and then Glimmora as my hazard setter/remover. The main questions I have are regarding the 6th slot and the movesets/builds for each mon. I chose Galar Slowking for the Psychic and Ice coverage, but I'm not sure if I should keep him or switch him out for Alolan Muk. I saw that it's recommended for Poison monotype teams to have one of the Poison Dark teams, but I'm not sure if it is needed or not.
As for the movesets/builds, I chose things that seemed good and made sense to me, but if I could have any second opinions before I start building the teams on Pixelmon, that'd be great!

I appreciate any help! Thank you so much!

Hello!! I would like to request a fire team more begginer friendly (I'm new with monotypes teams) and with an Hisuian Arcanine (SpA if possible)!

Thank you so much in advance <3

Hi! I've been having a ton of fun with the Flying team Attribute very kindly built for me a while back, but I've been wanting to try something new, and I had an idea that might be crazy enough to work.

Could I request a mono Fire team built around Electric Terrain Rotom-H and Iron Moth? Thanks!

I'm looking to build a Monotype rock team centered around Diancie. I enjoy playing a balanced team style, with a mix of offense and support to keep my opponent guessing. Diancie is a great Rock/Fairy type that can serve as both a special attacker and a pivotal support piece with moves like Stealth Rock, Calm Mind, and Trick Room.

I'd like the team to have solid coverage across the various types that Diancie appreciates, while also having answers to some of the monotype format's more threatening mons. Ideally, the team would have good type synergy and be capable of dealing with a wide range of threats. I'm open to suggestions on the full team composition, sets, and strategies.

I'm excited to see what the team building experts can come up with for a Diancie-centered squad.

Hi!, I wanted to ask a monotype fairy team without legendaries or singular pokemon around rather Sylveon or Ribombee, thanks in advance!!!

I have been playing monotype for a bit and would like to request a grass mono with Hydrapple. I like how they gave it regenerator so that it can function as a pivot, with a neutrality to the obvious threat of fire, while being able to hit back with hydro pump and earth power. It also has access to yawn, making it a niche option as a sleep setter (or alternatively forcing the opponent to switch so that they don’t go to sleep). Can’t wait to see what y’all do with it!

Hello. I have been a mono fighting enjoyer for a while, and I have noticed sticky web is always a problem. I've been using Scarf Rock Blast Terrakion. Could I ask for a fighting team that takes advantage of this set? Thanks!

Terrakion @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

hello, this is not really the place for that. Please bring already made teams that you are looking for tips on to either the smogon discord, the rate my team forum, or the Monotype / National Dex Monotype rooms on Pokemon Showdown.

Hi, thanks for taking interest in our project, however, please make sure you read the rules before you request a team. Crawdaunt is D rank on water and we do not take requests for D and unranked Pokemon, sorry.

This attitude seems oddly hostile to new players. Presumably, any pokemon that is ranked should be more than usable on a team, and I don't see anything wrong with players asking for a team with a pokemon they might not know how to build around. Any player can slap on the top 6 mons on the VR and use them on a team; for this project to be the most effective for new players they should be allowed to request any mon on the VR.

But since we care so much about Viability ranks-- I'd like to request a team around 2 B rank normal mons, Chansey and Blissey.

Hello folks, just trying to get into the tier but teambuilding seems so complicated.

Any chance we can make a water offense team with Empoleon?

Hi, i want a Mono Bug type team for friendly battle with Flygon on it. I know Flygon is not a Bug type, but the ligue in my town they allow 1 "looks like" pokemon and 1 free pokemon but must have the Tera with the type we use. We play on Reg H Singles too... so no Legendaries and Paradox.
So Monotype Bug with Flygon, 4 real Bug type Pokemon and any Pokemon with Tera Bug... i struggle with that one.

I was thinking Flygon, Scizor or Kleavor, Volcarona, Araquanid, Yanmega and don't know for the last spot... any pokemon with Tera Bug.

I need help with that mess, thanks.

Should be interesting.

I am deeply sorry for the delay, I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen again

Hello friends, was wondering if I could get a Steel team around a Tinkaton. Thanks in advance!

Hi, here is your team: https://pokepast.es/bb1811d855f6185a

Since Kingambit has been banned it is a lot easier to fit utility Pokemon on the team. I took the most 5 common steel pokemon and put tinkaton on there as well. Since Tinkaton provides role compression by having Stealth Rock and Mold Breaker, we can free up other sets for other Pokemon. I removed Stealth Rock on Heatran and put on protect, a great scouting tool that comes in huge in the replay I provided. Archaludon can also opt to be more offensive due to this as well. I had a lot of fun with this team and I hope you enjoy it as well. Here is a replay: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250416228-jc9z2djqya8l63bnhpjyeitiezztjz7pw

Greetings.

I'm requesting a Fairy type team arround Tinkaton.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, here is your team: https://pokepast.es/b8ea12d226177121

Tinkaton plays mostly the same role as the team above, it's a good utility Pokemon that can make Flutter Mane and Iron Valiant's job easier. All of the Pokemon outside of Klefki and Tinkaton make great use of screens, coupled with hazards and thunder wave. Sometimes you don't even need the support, Primarina can just win on it's own sometimes its really broken. Here is a replay, I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250405633

Hi, here is your team: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250450138-9u8esbmj9o8sb22z5xfqgi6508nnerzpw

We actually don't need to use Hydro Pump (we already beat Ground and Rock types anyway) and Yawn (Sleep Powder on Lilligant). I went with Ogerpon-H instead of Ogerpon-C because I think Steel is a lot more prevalent right now. However, if you wanted to use Ogerpon-C instead, you could do that, it just depends on what you want to beat. A bunch of the team is already quite fast so I went with Choice Band Meowscarada, it helps in the flying matchup with Triple Axel as well, making the absence of Ogerpon-C not too too bad. You can change to scarf if you like. Brambleghast for hazard support helps the powerful wallbreakers. Here is a replay, I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250450138-9u8esbmj9o8sb22z5xfqgi6508nnerzpw

Hi, not sure the exact set you wanted on Mew, but here's your team: https://pokepast.es/e6fa6423c50c7f91

Cosmic Power mew isnt available in this generation so I went with Agility and Nasty Plot. I've seen screens Deoxys a bit lately so I thought that would be a nice partner for Mew. I included Hatterene as it is physically defensive and can take great advantage of screens. Slowking is specially defensive and can apply some hazard pressure, as well as being a nice pivot option for the strong wallbreakers. Latios is broken so easy add, and I included Hoopa so we can have a physical attacker. No scarfer on this team because screens make that not entirely an issue, as well as Deoxys outspeeding most everything and being able to slow stuff down with Thunder Wave. Please feel free to change the mew set if you prefer other moves, here is a replay and I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250463079-0bbwdvco56coh09pnxxas368pnfh05xpw

Hi, here is your team: https://pokepast.es/ad053c4360f5ecf0

I hear your qualms about the rules and I would be willing to change them, I just have to think about it for a bit. I adapted the rules from the post which I adapted the thread from. So yeah, thanks for your concerns and I will have a look. Anyway, its the same pokemon but twice. One of them has healing wish and the other has stealth rock. I went for 4 walls and 2 powerful breakers. Thunder Wave on both of them to make Terapagos and Ursaluna have an easier time. Braviary is here to pivot into the breakers and use defog for the hazards. Porygon2 fills the last slot as a very physically defensive pokemon that isn't as passive as Braviary. Here is a replay and I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250475281-t5ttr4bv3q25x6tfnvtvzm62nn25qi9pw

Hi, here is your team: https://pokepast.es/5c17a5bd19c019ec

I went with the 3rd set, it felt the best to me. Diancie's Fighting neutrality is really really good. I paired it with classic Garganacl who is incredibly strong and hard to KO. Decided to use sub 3 attack Arcanine which catches many people by surprise. Because we didnt have a scarfer, I went with Glimmora, it can help apply special pressure as well. Since Glimmora, a common hazard setter, is relegated to being a scarfer I decided to put Coalossal as a hazard setter as well as remover and utility guy with Will-O-Wisp. Ogerpon is a no brainer last addition, helps deal with ground and water types. Here is a replay, I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250480678-0s0b705ebjj8jbt4m9ogyraw08o9qlcpw

Hello folks, just trying to get into the tier but teambuilding seems so complicated.

Any chance we can make a water offense team with Empoleon?

Hi, here is your team: https://pokepast.es/8b6cd59882bc2424

Empoleon is typically seen in a specially defensive role, as well as on stall teams, but I opted for more of a balanced build this time. I put Keldeo on the team because he is really strong into Dragon and Steel, two very prominent types. I decided to go with Choice Scarf Greninja because we already have a strong breaker in the form of CM Keldeo. Ogerpon is very strong and can lock foes into passive moves with Encore and set up with Swords Dance. Swampert is a nice slow pivot option, as well as being able to phase out setup sweepers and provide Stealth Rock damage. Toxapex is a classic physically defensive Pokemon, can apply toxic as well to deal additional chip damage. Here is a replay, I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2250493859

The rest of the requests did not follow the rules as currently listed. I may adjust the rules so maybe they will be dealt with at a later date. As always thanks for taking an interest in monotype and this thread!

Can i have a Bug team around Scizor or Kleavor (Not both) and with the Reg H restrictions? No Legendaries, No Paradox. Thank you very much.

Can i have a Bug team around Scizor or Kleavor (Not both) and with the Reg H restrictions? No Legendaries, No Paradox. Thank you very much.
Read the rules in the first post.

- Have a one paragraph description with the core / Pokemon you want us to build around and a slight idea of what kind of team you want the end result to be.
- Do not post asking us to make use of unviable Pokemon (a.k.a. not on the Monotype Viability Rankings). This is not a competition to see how good we are at teambuilding; this is us trying to educate people on what is good and how to build effective teams.
- Do not flame people for asking for a certain Pokemon or that they can't build one themselves.
- Each user is allowed one request per week and any user found requesting multiple will have their post deleted
- Please remember that these teams are first drafts and as such will not be perfect. Edit them as you please.
- On that note, you are free (and highly encouraged) to suggest and post changes / critiques you've made to already posted teams that you feel improve them.
- Please refrain from posting teams unless you are an "employee," but if you feel that you would be a valuable asset to the construction of a certain team, PM me.
- Do note that requests for teams built around mons that are below C rank (and unranked) are not allowed as they are generally less viable mons in the tier (C rank is still allowed)
- Please do not make specific requests such as doubles, ubers, no legendary, no paradox,

However if you want a team without scizor....bad choice because is a nearly mandatory mon.

Still, I made in five minutes this team for you:

Hello can I ask for a Bug team that revolves around Slither Wing as the Physical Wall breaker instead of Hcross, also if its possible to include Yanmega in it it would be greatly appreciated
Hi, sorry for the delay but I've been very sick and life got very busy. Anyway, here is your team: https://pokepast.es/60e4bcca56f32779

Started off with Slither Wing. I thought about using Will-O-Wisp but decided against it, its better to be able to reliably hit Gholdengo and Heatran. Boots is good but you can use Scarf or Life Orb if you like.

Volcarona is a classic, really strong and good into a lot of the meta. Psychic helps lure in and pop Air Balloon on Heatran, letting Slither Wing have an easier time against Steel teams. Also does well into Skarmory which Slither Wing struggles against.

Scizor is here to provide some priority and some immediate damage, knock off is great value as well, removing hazards so that Forretress can spam them and chip opposing teams down.

Kleavor is next, I noticed some troubles with the lack of a choice scarf user so I added him, provides additional hazard support and helps with the Flying matchup.

Yanmega is here as well, incredibly strong attacker that pairs excellently with hazard support, 2HKOing most everything in the meta.

Forretress ties it all together, the hazard support is really big for this team, and Rapid Spin is equally as important, making sure the pivot options can switch in several times across the course of a game.

Here's a replay and I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2282127064-ldbih4y9emarfet22fyuzl6xrsevxlupw

This team is pretty difficult to use, but it's pretty fun. I wanted to try and make it more beginner friendly but I couldn't really find a way. Good luck and have fun!

Hello, first of all, I'd like to thank you for the team I received earlier. I tried it, and it was very enjoyable, yielding excellent results. Now, I would like to request a new team.

I'm looking for a hyper-offensive or offensive ice team with Alolan Sandslash. I've attempted to build teams, but I struggle against certain types, especially bug and steel, like Choice Band Scizor with Bullet Punch or Close Combat prediction which completely dismantle my team. I've also faced challenges against fighting monotypes and other ice types that complicate my encounters.

I was considering using Rotom Frost in the team, as I've tested sets that favor it thanks to its typing. However, it may not be very viable, so I leave it up to you to decide how to proceed for maximum effectiveness.

I believe Alolan Sandslash is a very useful Pokémon, as it can revenge kill annoying Pokémon like Sneasler thanks to the snow. I appreciate any help in advance. Thank you!

Mamowsine helps provide entry hazard support and threatens steel types. Sandslash is your pokemon of choice, provides good utility with rapid spin and knock off, in the replay you will see knock off helping quite a bit to help deal with a choice scarf great tusk. Weavile also provides solid speed without snow being up, strong physical attacker that provides knock off and priority support. Classic Ninetales set, you could opt for Light Clay instead of Icy Rock but it is entirely your choice. This Cloyster set is pretty funky but I like it a lot. It is intended to be used as an early game attacker to catch an opponent off guard. If you wanted to change it to something more standard I wouldn't be mad at you. Last is Kyurem, typical beatstick that just smashes through stuff.

Here's a replay, I hope you enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2304897279-rjgcf1gogcithwac3u4s65na5vyyl76pw

Could I have a fighting monotype with scrafty and gallade in it please.
I dont really mind what strategy the team has but anything offensive would be cool.
Thanks
https://pokepast.es/3c58a857a9ff1ed1

Haven't really experimented with Fighting much after Zamazenta ban but this was fun. The main idea was to pair Scrafty up with some specially defensive Pokemon that can take care of them so Scrafty can spam bulk up, as seen in the replay. Scrafty is a great status absorber, as seen in the replay as well, so Rest works great for him. Gallade and Iron Hands are both specially defensive tanks, helping deal with Special Attackers so that Scrafty can spam Bulk Up and win. Urshifu is really really strong, an immediate attacker that doesn't require as much setup as Scrafty does. Great Tusk provides a great physical wall, along with entry hazard control. Last is Iron Valiant, the team lacked a special attacker and a choice scarf user so it fills both of those rolls. You can change the moveset if you wanted to put anything different on (trick, destiny bond, etc)

Here's a replay, enjoy: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9monotype-2304895028-590w8jntvofx0g4g1eqcc3tmlwoqgw9pw

Hi, this is for generation 9 monotype only, not National Dex Monotype. Your best bet would be going to the National Dex Monotype room on pokemon showdown and asking there, my apologies

It is intended to be used as an early game attacker to catch an opponent off guard. If you wanted to change it to something more standard I wouldn't be mad at you. Last is Kyurem, typical beatstick that just smashes through stuff.

Hi, this is for generation 9 monotype only, not National Dex Monotype. Your best bet would be going to the National Dex Monotype room on pokemon showdown and asking there, my apologies
Thanks man! cant wait to try it out
