Project Monotype Teambuilding Workshop

Hello im a avid monotype player i love both national monotype and monotype formats. (Always wanted to be a gym leader) my fave type is ice, I know its very hit or miss but the mons are my favorite especially after snow addition and aurora veil tech.Ive been switching the team around so much with Ninetales , Sandslash, and the horse(lol) being my core .I use kyurem out of necessity but love articuno so dang much and always try to splash it in as a special wall /healer/utility pivot kinda role. Would love any and all team ideas and insights. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this

- also ALWAYS see this rockin roost, whirlwhind & the thunder move that have perfect accuracy in rain, so its not JUST a lead

- ALWAYS has flip turn to deal decent chip damage while pivoting
- can't remember other moves but this thing hits like a truck

Urshifu (for the record i hate this mon, it's clearly OP, it takes no creativity to use, and it just ignored protect)
- surging strikes
- thunder punch
- drain punch?
- i think sometimes i'v seen them with a status boost like bulk up? hard to say, u RARELY have to select anything other than the move that deals guaranteed hits & can't be blocked
- item no clue but props choice specs or scarf?
- EV's i assume just go max attack & speed??

uuuum i've seen a lot of araquinid but they may have been on mono bug not water
- dropping a sticky web will damn near garantee u out speed, opponent will have to switch to a defogger or spinner


and yeah can't remember the last 2, maybe belly drum, aqua jet Azumaril?
- Aqua jet Moxie Gyarados?? Aqua jet Sharpedo/Crawdunt?

Not high speed but Adaptability life orb Aqua jet crawdunt hits so hard

what it for the record, again i am FAR from a competitive player, so i apologies for the incomplete information.

But also should u find success with this, which i suspect u will, thats not any mark of brilliance on my part, that is how utterly broken Urshifu is. If a full newb like me can half hazardly whip an impressive mono team in 2min, that's just how much work Urshifu is doing

Potentially my stubbornness to only use the mon that i like contributes to haha, sure there r probs a ton of mon that no sell surging strikes, but i just like playing with my fav guys

YES love this i too always wanted to be a gym leader.

Yes with snow fall boosting Defense and then Aurora veil giving u reflect AND light screen, ice survivability has gone way up!

the one time i mucked about with mono ice, i made some minor changes to this team here!

my edits
removed crabominable: don't like this design
removed Frostlass: snow cloak banned due to evasion clause

I instead had a shell smash Cloyster & Frost Rotom
- rotom has tones of support (i like ice Durmanatan's design more but he's banned)
- I think since then Cloyster has well & truly been banned due to the power of shell smash skill link

the biggest issue I faced:
1) nintail Aurura veil lead is SO beneficial, its almost predictable (weather ur opponent can stop u with that info though)
2) so many guys on this team can make for epic sweeps
- shell smash Cloyster
- trail blaze, weakness policy, thic fat Mamoswine
- Belly drum Cetitan
but i was such a newb that resisting the urge to just "ice mon go BRRRRRRR" was simply beyond me hahahaha

I love ceititan and its design especially the shiny is all black whale, super sick. Yeah I find myself constantly switching and really have to protect the special attackers to handle the really good physical walls, steel has been a bane for sure and cloyster,ceititan and kyureum have been my answer usually but gotta play really smart its hard to not put avalugg in but than have trouble with good ghost teams.i like the mamoswine weakness policy idea though good switch in on fire teams im imagining. The ninetales lead addiction real though so I try to lead with mamoswin or kyureum and mind game the steel open counter. Lol love this game so much especially the competitive side the strategy so deep. I really want to do frost rotor but scared to try idk why lol thanks for input and all the inspiration

[EDIT] didn't want to weigh down this post with too much info but, incase this helps, a few ideas

Iron fist assult vest max Atk Golurk with: Ice/Shadow/Drain punch & EQ
reasoning: great coverage, some sustain in drain punch, great damage (shadow punch is even boosted by STAB & ability)
(this idea is so obvs I'm sure other have tried it, in my limited experience this was pretty cool)


Sitrus Harvester Trevenant with: sunny day, curse, leech seed, substitute (this actually from the internet)
reasoning: from behind the safety of sub, condemn opponents to a 4-5 turn KO unless they switch?
(only tried this once & it was satisfying, not sure on EV spread though & i feel there is SO much u can do with this guy)

max SpAtk charcoal Chandelure with: Shadow ball, Over heat, haze, pain split
reasoning: few resist SB STAB + might drop SpDef, item boosted STAB OH to capitalize, haze to reset, some sustain in pain split?
(rest of EV's into speed??)

Max wall Cofagrigus (this one i used for my omega ruby run years back)
Max HP, EV & nature such that equally tanky on both sides
iron def to be a PhAtk pain
calm mind to become a Sp threat
Dark pulse to hit everything
i use to run rest with chesto after all the set up BUT
if u pain split instead, no need to give opponent free turns + left overs???


also also, Haunter has 3 immunities! i figure there MUST be potential here but i just keep misusing him hard (very newbie to competitive)
max speed + choice scarf + trick = lock down an opponents mon? maybe but so far i keep getting owned
(i hope this is just due to my newbness & once i have a better idea of other mon i'll see when & how to pull this off)


but again not married to ANY of these ideas, i can toss them all haha, just want to put up at least a good fight with my ghouls

this is my attempt using the mons you requested, the problem generally is the mons you want to use are pretty underpowered for the tier (natdex mono)!! if there was a natdex ru monotype this team composition would be pretty decent i suspect.

but if you have to use them, this is what i recommend, 3 trick room setters and 2 breakers (golurk and basculeigon-f) and 1 choiced scarf gengar

if you dont mind dropping confragigus, you can play gen 9 mono, power level is still way too high but its a bit more forgiving

Gonna piggyback off RR and specifically point out these rules that disallow suggesting mons that are below C rank for their type(s) on the Monotype Viability Ranking. While we do understand that some mons people like may not be the most viable, this section of the forum is specifically for requests of competitively viable teams.

We do appreciate everyone for their requests and contributions regardless.

oh sorry royal, i admit i followed a link to here, just saw the word "work shop" & assumed this was a more casual vibe than competitive. It didn't even occur to me there would b rules.

Hello, I am new to Monotype. I would like to have a flying team.

For my current team, I have Gliscor as Stealth Rock and Lead.
Corvi as my pivot. You can fill in the rest of the mons as you like.

I want the team to be able to deal with its flying weaknesses and have a good overall coverage of the rest of the types, if possible.

I will be doing my first ever monotype draft league, and have selected dark.
Was hoping I could get some ideas on what to draft, I ideally would like to build around Mega Sharpedo as it is one of my favorite pokemon, thank you!
 
Could I have a Psychic team based around Psychic Terrain, possibly incorporating Trick Room if possible? I like the idea of a team roughly split between control/stalling pokemon and sweepers like Hoopa-Unbound. I've tried and failed to make this work, possibly because it just doesn't work as a concept, but if it can be done, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I would like a team built around hydreigon for dragon monotype,I would like it to be more offense based(But of course have arch and hisuian goodra). :hydreigon:
