Most common UU leads?

What do you find are the most common UU leads?

I haven't played much UU yet, but I've encountered or read about Burn Orb Swellow, Electrode, Crobat, Psycho Shift Noctowl, Shuckle, Hitmonlee, and Regirock (who is technically BL, oh well).

What do you think would work as a good anti-lead against the most common UU leads? It looks like a defensive Bolt-Beamer would work well (which lead me to use Electrode in the first place, with HP Ice), perhaps Lapras who also has Surf for random#s's Shuckle (man that's annoying, I shouldn't have blown up Taunt Electrode), but the fighting weak invites Primeape and Hitmonlee to rape you.

Discuss.

You're talking about common UU leads and haven't even mentioned Persian? Blashpemy!

The thing about UU is that it's very unpredictable, and there's not gonna be one clear-cut anti-lead. I use a fast U-turner, if my lead can't take it out it'll bring in something that can. :p

I use CB Hitmonlee or Life Orb Hitmonchan. Both do a great job against most leads I encounter.

I think I'm going to make myself a different lead than Electrode. Against stuff not Bolt-Beam weak, all you can do is Explode, and I don't want to do that too early. Doesn't seem worth it. My other thoughts were Lapras and Gastradon, but Lapras is fighting weak and Gastradon has fairly low Defense. I think I'm just going with a fast, hard-hitting sweeper and see what happens.

I use shuckle he is the best anti lead i have used, encore a stat up and kill with toxic or knock off items with all the switching he will cause or set up sr.

Seems to me like 80% of all UU teams I've faced lead with Persian, generally going for an early sleep and possibly Nasty Plot. Primeape makes a very good lead, considering he is fast for UU, can't be put to sleep, has a pretty powerful Close Combat, not to mention can U-turn if it's against something it can't really beat.

I use Shuckle as a lead in UU matches. It messes up so many lead it's not even funny.

Seriously, Knock Off those CB or CS leads, Encore any opprtunities to set up, and set up some Stealth Rocks of your own. It scouts lead strategies like a champ.

Choice Scarf Typhlosion is easily one of the best UU starters out there. He can even be used in OU. Choice Scarf Eruption really is powerful. Plus, Typhlosion gets special STAB on that move.

Typhlosion
Rash/Mild

- Focus Punch/Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice recommended]
- Eruption
- Overheat [so that you can pull off late game sweeps when your Typhlosion isn't at full health]

EDIT: Also, as the guy said above, try Nidoking. However, Mix-King is quite interesting.

Nidoking
Lonely/Naughty

- Earthquake
- ThunderBolt
- Ice Beam
- Focus Punch

Hits 13 of the 17 types super effectively. Similar to Electivire's "Super Effective" set. You can also use Megahorn for physical STAB if you want.

I often use Scarf Hitmonlee (outspeeds and 1HKO's those damn Persians). For the record, Typhlosion is not UU (and while I'm not sure if the official list has been changed yet, Crobat almost certainly isn't UU either).

I've also used Priority abuser Hitmontop, Trick Room/SR Solrock, and Scarfed Magmar. Persian seems to be the most popular lead, from what I've seen.

Typhlosion, Scyther, and Persion are some that I've seen.
I personally use Electrode with taunt, which stops Persian in its tracks.

I wish idiots would stop using Typhlosion in UU. Its already been declared as BL, check the BL/UU discussion thread. And Protect Swellow seems to be pretty common.

i sometimes use a specs'd altaria (a mini specsmence) i am really thinking about switching it out though. and i will somehow figure out a way to work a lapras in to my team.
