Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Ok WOW something crazy just happened.

So I just got my Shiny Shellder like I told you guys. Like normal I saved before taking my egg from the daycare guy and hatched the egg, it WAS a shiny shelder. I reset and took the egg again, traded the egg to my Platinum game, and proceeded to hatch it there. When it hatched, it was indeed a shiny shelder (it was bright orange instead of purple). I went to look at its stats... AND IT WAS NOT SHINY. WTF!? It hatched Shiny but then it wasnt... everything else was accurate (moves, gender, nature, etc) but it wasn't shiny. I am POSITIVE it hatched as the orange Shelder. Note that I dont use any kind of hacks/AR/etc. I do have a couple pokemon from someone who used AR to get my SID for me.

What the hell is going on!? Has this happened to anyone else!?

If you want to verify the information, the entirety of this thread should have multiple posts about it. The first page however, does not I don't think. I can verify that my sweet scent frame in grass is +1 and not +2 from the multiple captures that I've done. I know others whose frame in grass is +2 while sweet scenting as well so it definitely varies between carts it would seem.

Also, it doesn't matter all too much, but be sure to be on your bike so your pokemon isn't out of its pokeball during the RNG. It sometimes can screw with your frames (or so multiple people say - it's better safe than sorry though :P)

Just confirming that some people's Sweet Scenting in Grass frames are +2 instead of +1. Mine is +2 in Grass. I'm pretty sure (at least from the ~20 people I've heard from) that your frame in the Water will always be 1 more than that in Grass. i.e. Mine's +3.
Part of me is jealous that yours is +1 Bakus. One of my carts has a decent (but luckily not that decent) Shiny spread on Frame 1, so I can only use it for standing legendaries... xD
Thanks for the help guys. Figured out mine is +1. I hit the seed 4 times before I actually caught the Pokemon though. Stupid RNG rustiness.

Oh well, I guess that's what happens when you haven't RNG'd anything in 6 months, lol.

It's because as the egg hatch, the shininess will be determined by the trainers SID. Okay, so you could hatch it Shiny on your HG game, but NOT on your Platinum game. The egg takes the OT of the one who hatched it, not the one who took it from Day Care.

Actually, the moveset I'll probably use on it is Rapid spin, recover, hydro pump, and ice beam. Electric type moves on starmie are kind of cliche and predictable IMO, so I'd rather make it less predictable and run a set like this as a rapid spinner and let another poke on my team cover thunder/tbolt. This is discussion for another thread though haha.

Yes, lol. Cliche but yea, still kicks some stuff around with proper use. Rapid Spinning Starmie's also awesome. :o
If you want to RNG breed more, I would suggest to go for something Non-OU. xd. Too many people who recently learn how to RNG goes for OU 'mons. (Yes, I was too, but I didn't know Gastly was OU and I just liked Gastly that time lol.)

I was under the impression that yes, it is determined by the SID, but once it decides it's a shiny pokemon when the egg is created, it STAYS that way. Why would it change if the decision for it to be shiny has already been made? Plus, why did it hatch shiny in the game I traded it to, but end up not being shiny after all?

I didn't save after hatching it, do you think if I trade it back it will hatch properly? And are you saying that any egg that is traded that was going to be shiny won't be when you trade the egg?

Apparently, not. Shininess isn't fixed for an egg. It's still determined by the ID/SID of your save file since you placed your HG ID/SID on RNG Reporter.. If you traded it back, it will still be a shiny.

When you hatch it in a different game, you are hatching it with a different ID/SID combo. Therefore if you RNGed a pokemon to be shiny for a specific ID/SID combo, it will not work if you trade it over to a game without a matching one. The game still thinks when the egg is hatching that it is in the original game, it is only after that you realize that egg is not shiny. The reverse is also true, so if you were to trade a pokemon over that would be shiny in the new game but not the original, it will appear to not be shiny when hatched in that game.

So, I want to RNG a Zapdos. That's method J right? And, when I did Latios from the Enigma Stone event, I didn't have to change the calibrated delay, which was 480. But now, do I have to calibrate for Zapdos?

Zapdos is Method K since it's in HG/SS.

You shouldn't have to recalibrate at all, so no.

Thank you! Got ma Smeargle ready, so I can catch it in an Ultra Ball ^^

Hm, I think I'm doing something wrong. When I use method K for Zapdos, and I press generate in the main window of the RNG Reporter, I can't even find the IV spread I was looking for. When I switch it to method J, my spread is right there.

My seed is 61204F4, 2010 12 15 (my birthday, lol) 18:32:50, delay is 1258, but the PID of the spread I wanted (30/10/30/31/31/31) is 0703B6E4, does that matter?

Don't forget, you may need a synchronizer.

EDIT: PID: 0703b6e4 (MODEST, ability 0) 30/10/30/31/31/31 (Seed: 061204f4 Method 1: 59, J (synch): 2, J (no synch): 42, K (synch): 4, K (no synch): 12) HP ICE 70

So, if you use a Modest Synchronizer, the Frame will be 4, if you don't, your spread should be on Frame 12.

I edited my last post. That should explain it.

Thanks mate, I will try again. :)

Edit: When I do Search Elm, I'm only getting the message: 'No match was found for your Elm responses.'
And I don't think I'm way out of line.

Woohoo, I just managed to hatch my first shiny pokémon. I am very impressed by this so I had to tell people, sad I know...

Anyway, I intend now to go about catching a pokémon with perfect IVs, I'm not bothered what the pokémon is, just something in the wild, and I was wondering how much harder it is to do?

Maybe your game was generating a different delay because you've hit a different seed?

Set your delay to 99 +/- and seconds to 5 +/- then try again.

I don't think you'll ever need seconds further than +/- 1. (And the + side of that is debatable) I only mention this because I've had false searches before. It'll come up with something that I didn't actually hit, it just happens to have the same 9 response sequence.

Congrats. IV's aren't too much harder, you just have to keep track of frames. Also, if you're catching you need the bike and a sweet scenter. You'll also need to find out how much sweet scent advances your frame on your game.

anybody noes how to rng on emulator?

I believe you have to find your seed and look for shinies/IV's on your seed. Resetting to hit a certain one would involve changing your system time a lot.

I think my timer was the problem. When starting the timer, I had to wait 2 minutes until I could make the calls. xD Now got a new date, with 1 min les xD

2 minutes to make calls? Just to make sure, you knew that meant you were supposed to set your DS time to 2 minutes before your target time?

I've been doing the calibration thinygs like the guide says, and I've gotten all 14 seconds, with 634, 627, 636, 633 and 626 delays. Is this good? Also I tried doing this on a DSi first and it didn't work at all 'cause it was next to impossible to sync it to my laptop accurately enough.

No, 2 minutes in total before the last timer went off. First time was 83,03 sec and the second timer was 26,97 sec. Or something like that. But now, I've got that same spread on a different date, with a lower sec, and now the first timer was 1 minute shorter :p Now I'm hitting delay's, almost the good one. :)
