Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Well, yeah... Of course that's possible. Because there's an infinite number of Wild Pokemon that you can catch that all correspond to the same seed.

Well, you can get multiple monster seeds, thats normal. One is correct and the rest are not. By going to the 2nd one with the better looking initial seed you did the right thing. You ARE using the initial seed and not the monster seed right?

On another note, I wanted to actually have a go at this, but decided just to hit frame 200 instead of a shiny.

Here is my exact sequence of events --

Get in position on grass with 5 pokemon in party.
Move poketech to app before friendship.
Save

Reset
Scent
Catch Pokemon
Check IVs
Enter into RNGRepoter
Get Initial Seed
Feed into calcpid.

Switch to Happiness Checker

Double click 15 times (200 / 12 = 16 --- 16 - 1 = 15)

Switch to Coin Toss

Click Coin toss application 7 times ( 200 / 12 = remainder 8 ---- 8 - 1 = 7)

Switch away from coin toss application.

Deposit Caught pokemon.

Ride bike for egg.
Collect egg
Save
check PID in pokesav

compare to list from calcpid

...

Ended up at 200 on the nose, no issue no problem no fuss.

Mingot, can you try to get a shiny spread with no remainder and do it, then check the PID in Pokesav to see if there's something else going on with a no remainder seed?

Finally got a shiny scyther. Didn't save because the PID had quiet as a nature. I don't use sweet scent by the way.

You subtract one because that makes it go to the seed you want. Not because of coin flip app.

@ Lightning - You just run in the grass, I take it? Should not matter to be honest, I can still find your initial seed
;)

Also, you can check the nature before you bother with it.

Take the pid and divide it by 24.

Remainder determines nature. Check xacts pid guide linked in the OP for the list of remainder information for nature.

@ Torso - No ... But consider that if I want to hit 200 I have to stop at 199 before getting my egg which will be 200.

I still don't get it. D:

EDIT: I get it, because getting the egg advances it by one right? If not, you just need to end up at one "frame" before the target, gotcha.

Ok, torso.

There are 200 M&Ms in a bowl.

You want to take the last one.

You're going to let your little cousins have some, though. How many can you let them take to make sure you get the last one?

199.

If you want to hit the 200th seed you have to advance from 1 to 199.

12 (initial advancement when changing to happiness app) + 12*15 + 7 = 199.

200th is the egg get.

Yeah, gotcha. Now I can get shiny eggs no problem. Just need to wait for the next version of your RNG Reporter, then I'll have at some competitive breeds, hopefully.

EDIT: Why not put that analogy in the first post? It helped. :P

I feel like the remainder of 0 is making it so I can't get a shiny >.> All 3 of mine had remainder 0, and they all weren't shiny. I don't think i screwed up THAT badly.

@ Torso

What do you need to wait for? We don't know how to manipulate the IVs yet, so just knowing the sequence is not going to help you actually get anything good.

What I would do, if I wanted something awesome today, would be to breed flawless parents in emerald and then soft reset for a shiny egg that is close and of the correct nature, lock the egg, and go to town soft resetting like the days of old.

@ Pink

It *IS* the remainder fucking you up, actually.

When you have no remainder, deduct one happiness check and do 11 coin flips.

That's what I plan to do, but I'll just use parents I already have, since I hate breeding in Emerald. :P

And, about Everstone, I do believe it just advances to the next spread of that nature, which is pointless. Because if you don't get the 50% chance, there goes your seed because you have to reset. And getting exact spreads is really easy with Platinum.

Which is a God send, considering the fact that you can get really amazing Dittos with shitty natures.

EDIT: I'm so breeding a shiny Metagross. ;)

TTar and Bagon are good canidates and can use a load of natures. TTar might be hard, though, as it has three incompatible egg moves that are required for certain natures.

So, I'm testing Everstones, to see if they either: 1) Advance the RNG to the next X spread like in Emerald. (X being the nature of the mom/ditto) or 2) Change the target spread to X.

So, if the Everstone fails, they should have a PID matching this:
396413DD
If it works, it should be the next Adamant spread, probably.

So, my three eggs:
Sassy - 00001‰ñ–Ú,396413DD,‚Ȃ܂¢‚« ,2,221
Modest - 00002‰ñ–Ú,DE09AA13,‚Ђ©‚¦‚ß ,2,019
Adamant - 00010‰ñ–Ú,E8DCEFED,‚¢‚¶‚Á‚Ï‚è,2,237

Conclusion - Er, hatching/recieving an egg advances the RNG by one.

Confirmed. Everstone in Platinum is the same as Emerald Synchronizing, as in, it advances the RNG to the next spread that corresponds to the Pokemon holding the Everstone's natures.

Just a simple question do you need all the poketech apps to make it advance however you want it to?due to siwtching apps?

It only advances when you switch to the Happiness Checker. So you only need that and the Coin Toss app.

EDIT: Beaten. xP I'm going to test one more thing, then I should be set to abuse this.

No it doesn't.

EDIT!
Well, yes it does. But, not when you switch to it. It advances it when you use it though.
