Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I'm using the radio, and I just verified my seed... I think. Supposing it does end up working this way, what do I consider the starting frame? Or isn't there one (i.e. I do a number of advancements equal to the number of the target frame)?

EDIT: Whoops, I think I already had this one answered for me. Sorry about that.

Evidently 1 isn't the starting frame of Latios, or there are advances inside Lance's room... my target frame is 114, and I hit 123 with the Latios. Is it safe to go by 10, then, since I did 113 advances? (My radio said I was on frame 112, but if it's like Elm calls, that means I'm actually then on 113, right?)

If you have all 3 roamers fainted (meaning all 3 will come back) I believe Latios is frame 11 or something. If you can't figure it out you can finish off Lance, faint Latios, and try again (it would be frame 1 this time).

Thank you. So, now that I'm doing it with Raikou and Entei still around, Latios will be on frame 1? And is my logic with the "If Radio Seed says I'm on 112 that means I just hit 113" right?

Uh... If you're trying to hit frame 100 you do the radio thing 99 times less the amount the roamers take up (remembering to note down the location of the roamers when you do your initial save). Usually that means 97 advances but sometimes less, varying depending on the save, not the seed. Does that help?

So my Raikou and Entei both appear to be on Route 33. Putting this into Seed to Time, I find this data: R: 30 E: 42 Frame(s) Advanced: 2. Does this mean I subtract 2 advances plus the 1 frame that Latios is supposed to occupy?

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I took this information down (the locations) AFTER saving before Lance and trying to hit my seed a few times. Is it too late now, and I have to start over?

EDIT2: Wait, I think I must have gotten confused. The R/E locations are taken during the file load after getting verifying the seed? Cause I've been doing it the other way.

You put in the R/E locations when you save before doing any resets or turning the DS off. So if you don't know if you did it right just load your game, save it again and put in the locations. For the seed above you do Latios frame - 2 (for roamers) - 1. So yes what you said.

Two more questions, and then I think I'm about done. Thanks for all of the answers.

1) I've been putting the location data in after loading it each time before checking my seed (following when I said that I'd been doing it the other way, in a post above). If I've been getting 2 as the number after putting the data in every single time, is it relatively safe to assume that that's the right number, if I loaded and saved it again? Cause I just hit my seed.

2) I did just hit my seed, but out of my stupidity (seriously, I only did this the one time I hit the seed) I turned my character around, in the opposite direction, without taking any steps. Will this affect the outcome?

Again, thanks.

It shouldn't affect your outcome unless you're VERY unlucky (in the two extra steps you take the game could go over the 128 step threshold).

Thanks to you guys, I was able to successfully RNG Latios. It seems it doesn't have a starting frame when generated post-E4 or something.

After getting Latios, and seeing that I had a good shiny Timid seed, I figured I would go ahead and try to get a Lugia. When I went into the cave, I found of course that neither the radio nor the phone work. Do people just Sweet Scent until they hit their frame every single time the game loads, or is there a relatively way to determine that the seed has been hit successfully?

I think what most people do is save outside his room, go catch him to calibrate the frame, and then make necessary advancements outside the room to hit the right frame.

When I RNGd Lugia, I saved one step from the cave entrance, hit my seed while confirming with Irwin calls, advanced my frame, and then entered the cave and battled Lugia.

is there any wandering NPC in Pewter City? I'm going to try to catch latios but first I want to know that.

Advancing the RNG using the radio is usually possible everywhere except inside a cave, or on top of Ho-oh's tower. The level just below it still gets radio reception, though.

Hey. I was wondering if someone could help me RNG Wild Pokemon in 4th Gen. I can already RNG Eggs in 4th and 5th Gen, and Wild Pokemon in 5th Gen. Hozu was going to help me, but they are busy with school and I don't want to bother/take up their time too much.

I figured it'd be easiest to start with the stationary Suicune first. I've already downloaded the RNG Reporter and EonTimer (obviously). Is there anything else that I need?

VM me if you can help. I prefer live help on IRC, as that is how I was taught the other RNG methods.

You may need a Synchronizer depending on the seed you're using.
As for actual tools, PokeRNG for seed searches. As RNG's seed search and be super slow.

To advance the frame using the radio, do you just keep pressing the bottom right button on the radio? For example, if I had to advance 35 frames, would I press the button 35 times? I'm in Lance's room.

Pressing it more than once won't advance the frame. You have to go to the station manually or the button. Switch to a different spot, and back to the station again for it to advance the frame.

So just go back and forth between the button and the center since the center doesn't advance any frames?

That's what I do when I advance the radio.
I sometimes use the top left, as that doesn't advance any frames for me. I'm not sure if it does for anyone else. But I do the top left and whatever else.
