Switch when you're ready to do taps.
Switching to the happiness checker doesn't count as a tap if you're using the readout from the program, as it already takes this into account.
as far as i know, no, because i accidentaly one taped a couple of times on both of my shinys and it was still shiny.....

Thank you for this thread! I have a big question though, how exactly can I check IV's in Pokemon Platinum? I have an action replay but whenever I search for an IV checker code the only 2 that turn up are 1 that leaves a bad egg if you save your game, and another that deletes your tm/hm's if you save. Are these the IV checkers everyone is using or is there a better code?
1) Catch a high-level (~L50) Pokemon near the Resort Area.
2) Get into a double battle with a partner Kecleon. Have the Pokemon you just caught use Hidden Power on Kecleon to figure out its type.
[IF YOU HAVE PLATINUM] Instead, Fly to Veilstone and go to the Game Corner coin reedemer building. There is a guy there that tells you what Hidden Power it has.
3) Metalkid's IV calculator allows you to narrow down the possible IVs if you know the Hidden Power type.
4) Keep entering all the IV combinations Metalkid's calc gives you into the RNG Reporter until you get a list that contains a delay ranging around 600 (assuming you blew through the continue screen as quickly as possible; it will be longer if you waited a few seconds). Choose that number.
Going into a battle and hitting Kecleon with HP wont screw up the rng/shiny process, right?
Oh yeah, and where would i be able to do a double battle?
I haven't tried it personally, but other people have reported that it doesn't. It makes sense, since there are separate RNGs - one for eggs, and one for everything else. Both are given the same starting seed, which is why you can use that first wild battle to find out what the seed is.
There's a double battle with a ~L22 Stunky and Glameow right above Solaceon. Just use the Vs. Seeker.
It doesn't affect the IRNG. One of the times I was trying to do it I accidently entered a double and a single battle and still got my shiny egg.
I have one that turns the stats into the IVs. The only thing is they'll stay like that until they level up or you put them in the PC. I'll PM it to you.
No you can leave it how it is. You do not need to change anything there.
