can anyone just briefly describe to me what steps i must take in order to use the "DPPt Shiny Egg" Tab in the Time Finder? I filled in all my desired information, and tested it out.
Date: 10/1/09
Time: 01:02:17
Delay: 604
Nature: Jolly
Ability: 1
Gender: M
Flip Sequence: T,H,H,T,T,H,H,H,T,T
Taps: 8
Flips: 6
I perfectly hit my delay and second, so idk what went wrong (I think it might have to do with the note under the gender ratio box... "Please note that number of flips and taps that are listed assume that you will also be doing 10 coin flips to verify your initial seed")... so does that mean the tab expects us to do 10 coin flips to verify the egg info and shininess before collecting it?
I don't think you understand how that tab works. Basically, you must hit your seed and then do the ten coin flips to verify whether you hit the seed or not. If you did, then you can do the happiness app double taps and the remaining coin flips, THEN generate the egg.
oh ok thanx. its my first time using the tab, so yeah, i didn't understand ;) so basically the steps are:
- begin game
- do 10 coinflips to verify
- THEN do taps, then flips
- now i can put my parents into the center and get shiny/ desired nature & ability?
Yep. The first ten flips must match, but you seem to have the gist of it.
just one more question (anyone answer please). do i still have to catch a poke and find its ivs like the other method? (and can I? cuz it would be a good way to check out my delay and how close i am to the target delay)
No, you don't. You verify your delay by doing those 10 flips. If they match, you've hit the correct delay, if not, try again. But if they don't match, you can alway catch a pokémon to see what you did get.
Anyone know an answer to my Emloop problem btw? It's strange, because in the past, Emloop worked fine.
and obviously if i dont get the right delay i can catch a poke and use the seed finder to check my delay?
Yup. Edited that in, but appearantly too late.
oops i forgot asking this question as well. i apologize. Do I have to have 5 pokemon in my party and the poketch set to app#5 when I begin?
just quoting to be answered =P
JRT. Did you turn the sound on? The beep'ing sound to keep you in time?
Also, alsabino, that is so much info, I'm not even going to bother to read through it. I gotta go soon anyway.
Just follow these steps...

It's not hard.
I'm about to attempt to do 1807 journal flips and I'm really nervous. I wanted to know what exactly can or can't mess you up. Like can close the DS or stay on the journal for a while without it messing up?
By the way, I just found out something. In the guide, it says Giratina's frame in the Distortion World is 12. This is incorrect - its frame is 1, just like any other legendary.
Technically, everything is on frame 1 and there is just some other stuff that always happens first. The idea only to document which frame your monster will land on if you catch it as soon as entering the game world, and 12 does that.
However, loading the Distortion World map uses up 11 RNG calls, making it seem as if the frame is 12. If you reload the map, for example by opening and closing the Journal, the frame will increase by 11 again, throwing off your advancement. If you attempt to RNG abuse by checking the frame with coin flips, then advancing with the Journal, Giratina's frame will therefore appear to be 23 (1+11+11).
Could somebody verify this? I think I've done that correctly, but I'd like confirmation. If this turns out to be correct, the RNG abuse guide will need correcting :)
But then there is this, making the number 12 pretty useless, even if correct in the context of all of the other "starting frames" we give. So good find here on the map loading being +11. I will work on updating the article to give a special treatment to distortion world Giratina.
EDIT: Could the significantly easier method of counting Journal page flips also be documented? I'll explain for anyone who doesn't know:
Catch Pokémon and change the date each time so all 10 pages of the Journal are filled with 'Pokémon caught' messages.
Instead of flipping between two pages continuously, open the Journal, flip through to the end, then flip back to the beginning. This way, you're still advancing it a same amount each time you flip through, but it's easier to count how many times you've done so (and you're less likely to mess up).
Flipping through a full Journal will advance the RNG 38 times (the first 9 pages are flipped through twice, and the last only appears once - (9x2+1)x2=38).
This also makes it easy to RNG abuse away from a computer - register the Journal to the Y button, so each time you flip through, it returns you to the map screen. Then, use Pokétch app #11 (counter) to record how many times you've flipped through.
That's the method I always use when RNG abusing; it's really easy to use, requires no outside equipment, and makes it much easier to keep track of how many flips you've done.
So is it confirmed that the pattern of responses is based solely on your seed (assuming exact same happiness), just like the coin flip test in DPPt? If so, can we just use a max happiness poke each time to check our seeds?
this is just a question on the rng reporter - the program crashes when i use the dppt seed finder
anyone have a way to fix it?
Seriously, give more information or don't bother reporting. "My car doesn't work, what is wrong with it?".
I saw what you posted in the research thread, I find it very helpful. Not exactly. One, it uses the normal RNG, so if you have roamers out the pattern will be affected. Two, talking to your Pokemon actually advances the RNG, and how much it advances depends on the response (some advance it 90+ frames). So if the frame you're aiming for is low (like less than 100), then you probably won't be able to use this technique.
On the plus side, the responses allow you to advance the RNG much, much faster than the journal, so frames in the thousands or even tens of thousands are easier to get.
Not really, not without an exception message. If there are any other options you can see to make it show this to you, try. It's different for different versions of windows. And you don't mention what version of rng reporter you are using either.
Maybe redownload/try again.
So, I've finally got HG ordered. Question about SIDs though. How do you know if you've got a terrible SID/ID combo? I know how to get my SID checked and all, but I don't know what's good and what's bad. I've gathered that certain combos prohibit useful nature/IV combinations. :/ Should I just start the game, find my SID and then check for certain good IV/Nature combos to see if they're there and at a low frame, or whatever?
Might just be confused here though...
