Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Hmm... anyone with a DSi find that their delay doesn't change into odd on Platinum?

In 2009, my delay was mostly 598,600,602.
So I expected my delay in 2010 to be 597,599,601. But I'm still hitting even delays?

I'm just curious if this is happening to anyone else.

Was wondering is it kind of cheap to not know the mechanics of RNG Abuse, but to know enough to have mastered being able to rng any pokemon without fail?

Changing years does not change your delay. It only changes the delay you need to hit a particular seed. If you look at the seed formula on the first page, you'll see part of it depends on delay + year.

Cheap? No, but it does make it difficult to figure things out for yourself.

Okay, I may be mistaken, but I just attempted to hit my seed with my sister's DS Lite in 2010, and I'm getting odd delays, but if I'm doing the same thing on my Dsi I'm getting even delays? =/

is there a pokemon game inserted in the DS lite that may be changing your frames or are you playing on diamond since I've noticed that game changes form even to odd randomly.

I knew Diamond used to change randomly when I was using one DS, but on Platinum I keep hitting that odd/even delay depending on what DS I'm using =/. Oh well, I'm not complaining, I'm just curious to why it is.

Has anyone had a problem hitting a delay of 3000? Like if you absolutely had no other choice than to use that one?

No i have a delay of 4033 for one spread on platinum only took me a few tries with the use of a timer

I've hit similar dealys few times (I hit a delay of 5565 just the other day, after about 6-7 tries). I'd suggest using Pika's timer, it works really well.

iirc, Method J is for most legendaries. When you are RNGing for something like Zapdos using Method J, how do you know when it is going to appear? last time I checked, Zap roams completely randomly.

If you're talking about the one in Platinum, it uses method 1 to determine it's spread. It's determined when you talk to Professor Oak in Eterna city after you have gotten the National Dex. If you have already caught Moltres, it's starting frame is 1. If you haven't, it's 6.

Well how do you know when it's going to appear then?

just checking:

i am trying to catch a sealeo.

the frame is 39, and i wanna know if i do i correctly, just to know if its the delay or the frame is wrong.

i press left and right to make a total of 18 flips, then i press B, then if the trainers dont move, i use sweet sent on the water
that makes a total of 39 right??

Ok so I have an odd frame for Canalave. Is usually safe to assume that I could turn once in the water as soon as the game starts, then bolt for the journal?

@Acid: Put the poketech on the map, and just walk outside. It should show up with 2-3 little heads on the map (more if you have other runners out). I usually fly to Jubilife, since they usually will roam to one of the surronding routes. Everytime you enter a new route or town (say going back and forth between Jubilife and the route under it), they will move to another route near where they were just at. You just have to keep going back and forth until it's in the same route as you are.

@JRT: As long as you can do it before anyone moves, and you are able to bring up the start menu as soon as you turn, you could. Just don't register the journal, or you'll have to close the journal, bring up the start menu, and go to the fishing rod.

that

I think he meant with the use of a Max Repel and poke with level 39 as the lead.
