Fair enough... *Waiting for the inevitable Pokemon Z to do something with Zygarde*It was UU all through out BW, though.
900 BST form. I GOTTA BELIEVE.Fair enough... *Waiting for the inevitable Pokemon Z to do something with Zygarde*
900 BST form. I GOTTA BELIEVE.
But seriously, it will likely get a good form change or something.
But seriously, it will likely get a good palette swap of Tornadus/Thundurus/Landorus or something.
Hey man, that's like totally what I said.FIFY
But seriously, it will likely get a shitty palette swap.
Biased mention? Many people are using and liking Scoliopede. He got Speed Boost and a higher BST (I think +10 to attack?). Those are big buffs, he can probably make it into OU, especially with fairy types roaming about and being weak to poison.Special biased mention goes to Scoliopede for making a potentially massive (but not OU) leap with Speed Boost.
Serious question, how many Ghost resists do you see making it to OU this generation? There's Tyranitar, Blissey... and what else? Greninja shouldn't be spending much time being a Dark type, nor should it try to tank a hit at all. Mega Kangaskhan is nice, but requires a particularly strong commitment, as do other Dark or Normal-type Megas. Hydreigon is faster than every Fairy besides Xerneas and Mega Gardevoir, and is capable of U-turning to a more appropriate Fairy counter if it doesn't want to run something like Flash Cannon. Hydreigon also has an easier time fitting onto teams now, as it synergizes well with Ghost-types like Aegislash, works well with and against Sticky Web, and profits from the diminishment of Dragon, Fighting, and Bug attacks due to the introduction of Fairy-types. Plus, it's one of the very few Dragons to get U-turn. Yes, it did get a serious drubbing from the Nerf hammer, but there's enough going on around it to make the Ghidoroid menace arguably more viable than it was near the end of BW2.Say that to Hydreigon's face(s). Don't worry, he won't kill you - not as long as you have a Fairy-type at your side.
It's easy to get distracted by Fairy, but overall, Dark traded one resisted hit for a less important one, and it gained a weakness but its resistances became much more important. Right now, Ghost as an offensive type has one resistance and one immunity, which is the same as Dragon, and if anything the stuff that takes Ghost attacks well is rarer. I'd say this was enough to make a net improvement for Dark not just as an offensive type but even as a defensive one.Serious question, how many Ghost resists do you see making it to OU this generation? Heracross'es most powerful before:
252+ Atk Guts Heracross Close Combat vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 178-211 (54.43 - 64.52%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Guts Heracross Stone Edge vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 99-117 (30.27 - 35.77%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ Atk Guts Heracross Megahorn vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 44-52 (13.45 - 15.9%) -- 9HKO at best
Now:
252+ Atk Skill Link Mega-Heracross Arm Thrust (5 hits) vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 105-125 (32.11 - 38.22%) -- 0.63% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Skill Link Mega-Heracross Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 110-135 (33.63 - 41.28%) -- 52.54% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Skill Link Mega-Heracross Pin missle (5 hits) vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 40-50 (12.23 - 15.29%) -- 9HKO at best
252+ Atk Mega-Heracross Close Combat vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 160-189 (48.92 - 57.79%) -- 53.13% chance to 2HKO (if you still wanna run Close Combat)
On current note, easily Gengar. It's gone from great to polarizing. Good luck getting anywhere if you don't carry a check or two.
Gengar seems better, but I've yet to see anything good from its mega-forme. On PS, a max speed timid gengar was outsped by my life orb starmie when it megaevolved. Probably a glitch.
It's so weird that people think Heracross got a useless Mega-Evo and he is better off without it. Let's use Skarmory as an example:
So the question presents itself again, how is Mega-Heracross better? Rock Blast and Pin missle, now both at 25 BP, only do slightly more damage than Stone Edge and Megahorn, while Close Combat is weaker. The answer is:
1- Increased Bulk
2- No Life Orb, Flame Orb, Toxic Orb Recoil
3- Hitting 5 times makes Critical hits far more likely (trust me, this saved my ass sooooo many times) despite critical hits being weaker
4- He learns Bullet Seed now, further increasing his coverage
5- Most importantly, you choose when to mega-evolve. Unlike other mega-evolutions, you won't suffer too much if you don't mega-evolve automatically. It's more than likely that you can get a boost off of moxie before mega-evolving, or choose to stay unevolved after getting a stats condition to abuse guts, or just mess with your opponent. This is why I suggest a mix of normal and multi-hit moves for his set.
So while Heracross isn't making the jumps other pokemon are making (looking at you Mawile), it sucks that people aren't noticing his new found offensive potential. It's unfair to say that his mega-evolution is worthless, with the only downside being a decrease in speed (not that he was fast anyway, but that's debatable).
Pokemon keep their original speed on the turn they mega evolve. Also, you're forgetting shadow tag
It looks dandy with that, then. I guess I just haven't seen much of a threat from it because I have a check in the form of Mega Aerodactyl.
