The worst i've seen is someone get carjacked and shot to death in a liquor store parking lot. Other than that i feel pretty safe.

Honestly though, you might have some minor racist comments / jokes but likely nothing serious. Moving to the suburbs from detroit is something to look forward to.
 
I love moving (other than the tedious packing and unpacking and decorating, etc, that is implied with the experience). Just open the door to the experience, to meet new people, new points of views (whether they compliment yours or not), etc. Just don't go into the corner gas station late at night and make sure you and your homeboys intimidate the shit out of your neighbors so they KNOW you're not one to mess around with. (Drive around glaring and shit, :) )
