Yep it's that time of year again....

With Loki gone, I just went ahead and made the bracket. This is looking like a very interesting bracket this season

you mean when duke fails to make it past the sweet 16 again??

Good call Carl

It's funny; there are a lot of great teams in this bracket but there are tons of head scratches like UAB and VCU. Neither of those teams did jack shit this season. UAB went 1-4 against Top 50 RPI teams. VCU had a good record and played mediocre basketball. There are also a ton of bullshit seeds. Florida is way overrated (you lost your championship game by a wide margin and you're a 2 seed? BS). Illinois at a 9 seed? Washington as a 7th seed? A lot of these look like they used a dart board

My Buffs got snubbed along with V Tech, BC. Absolutely pathetic

also how did North Carolina get a 2? The only 2 good teams they beat were Duke and Kentucky but they lost to Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Illinois, Texas, and George Tech???

my feelings on this year:

the seeding this year is really bad. all the 2 seeds are overrated except notre dame. there's also way too many big east teams lol

duke has an easy road to the final 4 again who woulda guessed

i love how dicky v was bitching about how harvard should've gotten an at large bid

(11) Cuse, (20) WV, (21) Ucon, (14) Louisville, (22) Gtown, (4) ND, (3) Pitt, (25) Cinn, (17) St Johns, Marq, and Nova.

Nova was ranked in the top 10 while Marq had only 2 losses of over 10 points (one to Louisville though the other to Seton Hall).

I don't see why there are too many.

numbers = ap rank

Way too many Big East teams? You do realize that before conference play there were like 5 Big East Teams at 15-0 and another few that only had 1 loss right? Every team was deserving that came from the Big East, the only teams you could really make a case against were Marquette or Cincinatti who both had enough quality wins to definitely put them over teams like VCU or USC

This year is a little odd. I still think that Colorado and VT should be in, but UAB and VCU shouldn't, but w/e. I only have one #1 Seed getting to the Final Four, and they're not even my champ's.

pissed off representing va tech. I don't have a problem with UAB in, i mean, they did win their conference title, but let's see...

VCU... 4th place in the CAA gets you in? We were 4th in the ACC last year and that didn't get us in. I wonder what Hofstra has to say about this
Tennessee... you've gotta be kidding me, is this just because they knocked off Pitt? It's not like we don't have a big win
Penn State... yeah we beat these guys by ten
Michigan State... is having a terrible year. I realize they went to the final four last year, but that was LAST YEAR. They didn't give UNC a free pass in 2010 after winning the national championship in 09, because they didn't deserve it. Why do these guys?

I mean, I know we choked a few times (we'd sure like to have those two uva games back, as well as the ends of the unc and purdue games), but we're better than at least these four teams. And so is Colorado. Shit, I wouldn't even be mad if it were Harvard, BC, or Cleveland State getting in ahead of us. But they didn't, and it's just silly.

How come Ohio state is in the hardest bracket but is the #1 OVERALL seed and Pitt lost in the Big East Tourney but has a really easy bracket? The seeding was really poor this year, along with the V tech/Colorado/Harvard snub.
Also, I'm kinda mad the Johnnies couldn't get a #5 seed due to rematch issues or whatever. I mean they're still in the tournament and there's nothing you can do about that, but still. I don't like it.

Too many big names seem to be loaded on one side of the bracket, imo. It doesn't seem as good as last year where you had 2 or 3 big name schools in each region. They totally could have done it this year.

Yeah I mean they do have by far the crappiest teams in the tournament, they could have spread them around considering about ~1/5-1/6 of the tournament had over 10 loses.

Haha.. well I'll let you put those teams advancing ahead of them then..

Wisconsin would be the only threat.. and i don't have them getting past Kansas St.

Wisconsin, Old Dominion, and Michigan State all say Hi.

Your point? Pitt has it ridiculously easy, especially with the #2 seed going to Florida (?). Don't get me wrong, I'm a Florida fan, but the way they played the championship game, definitely a 3-4 seed in the southeast.

Also, predicting UConn to win it all.

mmm I've been mulling over my bracket. I'm not really sure how the Southeast is gonna shake out. Pitt is the Goliath in this situation, but for the last couple of years have never made the hump into the Final Four. BYU and St. John's are more than capable of pulling upsets if they are hitting their stride. Wisconsin is another one of those teams that probably doesn't get enough credit for the basketball they play. They split vs Ohio St. and have been in top form. Florida is a joke and I'm guessing they are out after the Sweet Sixteen.

So far I've been leaning on the Number #1 seeds. Every single one of them looks dominate. I think that Ohio St. has an incredibly hard bracket but if they can make it out to the Final Four, they will probably take the Championship. And as like every year, Duke gets a cheesy, easy bracket. SD St. is a good team with no tournament experience, Texas has looked shaky and Connecticut is hit or miss. Either they are dominating you or they are getting trounced. They won the Big East so I think they will take that momentum with them into the tourney.

Kansas has a fairly smooth ride until they either play Purdue/ND/Georgetown. All of those games leading up to the Elite 8 are super hard to cal imo. I like Purdue a lot and something tells me they are going to make a late run.

As for the notorious #5 v #12 upsets, I'm looking at KState vs Utah St. KState is wayyyyy overrated. My Buffs swept them 3 times with strong inside aggression and kickouts to the wings. They have terrible perimeter D. Utah St got a terrible seed, they are a much better team than a #12 (I mean for fuck sake, they are #17 in the coaches poll, obviously someone knows something the retarded committee doesn't).

Unfortunately I've pussed out and went with all #1 seeds in my Final Four. I really can't make a justification of not putting them there. Time will tell I suppose.

Well they are number one seeds because they are the best. But still, I think Ohio State's bracket isn't that hard, and Duke's is harder than people give them credit. I think SDS is better than UNC, Uconn is better than Syracuse, and Arizona is better than West Virginia. Of course, Kentucky is better than Texas, and I think Kentucky or Ohio State will come out of that bracket.

Pitt has it way easy though, hopefully ODU can rain on their parade.

I never said they all didn't deserve it. I would've put 8-9 teams in personally. but seriously 11 from one conference is ridiculous, Marquette did NOT deserve a bid over VT or even Colorado. Nova and Cincinnati were eh but with this whole four new at large bid nonsense I suppose they deserved it.

and yeah pitt's division is one of the weakest i've ever seen, duke's is pretty bad too, all the good teams (and most of the teams i like) are in ohio st's lol

still have some faith in byu, their hardest competition in the first 3 rounds is probably st. johns

as far as 5/12s go i'm picking the play in game #12 winner lol, and maybe memphis has a shot too idk

hahah my school got screwed over in the womens bracket like that. also 17 in coaches poll, won like 25 games in a row coming in and they're a 10 seed

Lol are you serious? Did you even bother checking Marquette's schedule? Lets look at their schedule from January 8th up until February 13th...

@ #5 Pitt, vs #11 ND, @ #17 Louisville, vs Depaul, @ #16 ND, vs #5 Uconn, vs #10 Syracuse, @ #12 Villanova, @ USF, @ #11 Georgetown

Now lets look at Va Tech's schedule during that same period

Vs, FSU, @ UNC, vs WF, @ MD, vs Longwood, @ GT, vs. Miami, @ NC State, @ BC, vs. GT

Granted, NC is ranked highly now... But seriously look at that... Marquette played 8 ranked teams in 10 games, and by the current rankings they still played 6 ranked teams and basically Georgetown who is 26th and is basically a ranked team as well...Plus if you count Marquettes game after that against St. Johns then its like they played 8 ranked teams still anyway so please tell me, Why should Va. Tech have gotten in having the same amount of wins as Marquette while playing a much weaker schedule?
