NCAA March Madness 2011

Well I'm 4th overall and 86th percentile on Yahoo. Feeling pretty good about that. There have been way to many fucking close games this post season. Sweet 16 is looking mighty sweet though

Ah well, rooting for underdogs the rest of the way and just going to enjoy the tournament for what it is now :B

EDIT: eh, I'm only 5 points out from the lead. Maybe I'm overreacting
 
It's all about the "Possible Pts" on the bracket leaderboard, basically all I'm focusing on.

Sure I'm 3rd, but I don't really expect it to stay that way. Pleased with the position though.

I really should have trusted Marquette more.. I knew how they played and knew they had the shit to get to the sweet sixteen.. I just got a little.. naive and picked my home team, rather than my competitive choice.
 
Two Big East teams in the sweet sixteen out of the eleven entered, and the two that got in had to play another Big East team to get there, so it was impossible for a Big East team not to go to the sweet sixteen there. On the other hand, three ACC teams out of the four entered. And the number of teams from Richmond equals the number of Big East schools.

It's a good year to be an ACC fan. I don't care how "mediocre" we were during the regular season.
 
Man, it really sucks to be an ND fan right now.... I also loved how the announcers halfway through the second half made it like ND was playing good but Florida St. was somehow doing incredible things that gave them such a big lead.... ND had so many open shots that they just couldnt hit, while Florida St. was literally getting every bounce/roll/shot imaginable... I give them credit as their D was good but if ND hits even a few of the open shots they had this game completely swings in ND's favor

I REALLY wanted Syracuse to beat Marquette since they have an excellent track record against UNC who I hate with a fucking passion. Roy Williams is a horribly overrated coach and his team rolls over and dies every time they play a big physical team like Syracuse (especially against the 2-3).

See, the Big East does have overrated teams, but you have to look at the beginning of the season to see why the Big East sent 11 teams this year.... When over half of your conference heads into conference play with 10+ wins and either 0 or 1 loss, and also completely destroys out of conference play in the pre-season tournaments, then you cant really blame the voters for overrating Big East teams themselves when the Big East proved before conference play that they were better than every other conference at the start
 
So how are you all feeling about the games tonight?

Duke vs Arizona: I think that Duke is going to dominate them tbh. I wasn't impressed much with Arizona last game.

UConn vs SDSU: should be a real good game. I think a lot of it hinges on Kemba. I have this feeling that UConn is going to come out and dominate them but who knows?

BYU vs UF: Jimmy is going to need step up. He has to ave a good game, be a leader. Otherwise I can see UF simply out muscling the Cougars

Butler vs UW: Go Badgers, I think this is where Butler's magical run ends
 
Currently sitting in 2nd place.. with a pretty solid bracket up ahead.. madness is bound to happen.

Duke.. you failed me.. but I didn't have you getting past UConn anyways. Shame Duke.. damn shame..

Florida.. thank you for hanging in there.. but regardless... Pitt fucked up that corner of the bracket days ago.

I do not think I have seen white men beaten worse by black guys at basketball in a while than I did in the second half of the Arizona-Duke game

hahaha 4 -> 16. Honestly should have gone with my gut on a bunch of these games, but all the analysises talked me out of it

I'm impressed with Butler and UConn. Both of those teams looked stellar. Arizona had a good half against Duke's shitty half. Not going to give them any credit. Jimmer couldn't win the entire game on his back apparently despite him having a solid night. What a shame, what a shame.

Looking forward to O St. vs 'Tucky and Kansas vs Richmond tomorrow. I think that the O St. game is going to be very very tight

lol i think this is the worst bracket i have ever filled out. my first round wasn't terrible but the only elite 8 team i have left is ohio state

this is the most ridiculous year ever lol especially if kansas loses tonight
 
I can't even remember the last time I filled a bracket out and indeed all I have left is OSU/UNC myself. So bad I don't even feel encouraged to try again next year. :(
 
bracket filling out is a crapshoot, no point acting like it is meaningful unless you actually finish like top 70% every year in which case you might really "have something" I guess

after an abysmal start (not helped by Texas' "loss"), Kentucky upending OSU could actually land me in the national top 50% up from 13% yesterday, but I do not really expect it to happen.
 
sitting in 2nd.. and have the exact same setup as the member in 1st.. so.. i guess that's that. hopefully somehow the tiebreaker will be in effect in the end, and my score prediction will win out.. if that's how it works anyways.
 
see now it sucks because after my disclaimer I cannot claim I knew what I was talking about picking Kentucky over Ohio State; after watching them early on in the tournament I really felt Ohio State was the team playing most like "a real NBA team", so I favored them to win. Nice ending either way, and now my bracket will probably be top 50% going forward xD
 
Wow I just dropped like a rock, I only have Kansas left. But meh, I don't really care because tournament has been amazing! Who would of guessed VCU would be in the elite 8!

Congrats on the 2nd straight trip.

College Basketball is a completely different animal than anything else.
 
another two fun games out of two, unfortunate for Arizona that UConn had such an efficient open or it could have ended differently for them
