NCAA March Madness Thread

Memphis-UCLA was ridiculously boring.

Kansas-UNC has been ridiculously hilarious. Kansas looked like they would win by 40 and now it is a five point game hahahaha

Also, am I the only one who fucking hates this big umbrella commercial? I guess the NCAA is a lot easier to get commercials for than the Super Bowl, so they are going to be worse, but christ.

The umbrella does get rather repetitive. Maybe there'll be good ones during the finals (one can only hope though, right?)

well this year was an absolute joke, it's so much of a joke they aren't even playing the final game because it will be fucking pathetic. three straight years of stupidass final 4's. well at least 2005 and points backward were good.

the best game of the tournament was

drake/wk;duke/wv;davidson/wisconsin

worst - the two final 4, xavier/wv, davidson/kansas, stanford/marquette

as soon as kansas jumped out in the first 15 min I knew that there was no way that they could lose

i picked a kansas/memphis championship with kansas winning it all and i believe that the jayhawks can do it

Kansas vs. Memphis! Well, the two 'lower' 1-seeds are in the championship game. I desperately hope this game will be better than the two games last night.

My money's on Memphis!

Appropriate.

^ Glad he did finally get in!

Kansas is your winner! Incredible shot to send the game into overtime, and that momentum carried-on into overtime for the win.

That three pointer was pretty amazing, and the energy clearly carried on a Kansas team that had played slightly wayward ;) The game could have been higher quality, but at least in terms of tension it was pretty awesome.

Hey Justin, was Kansas still a stupid pick? ;D

kansas winning is like the giants winning the superbowl and it sucks equally.

i actually kinda wanted kansas to win just because memphis didnt deserve to be there at all, even though I hate kansas.

so who's expected to be the #1 pick this year?

Except that it wasn't. No one ever could have predicted the Giants to win that game against the Patriots, but from the predictions I read and heard, it sounded like pretty much an even-stevens split, if not overall slightly favoring Kansas. And why does it "suck equally"? That was one of the greatest (forgive my bias) national championships in history. And the Super Bowl was no different - one of the greatest upsets in history. Seriously, do you even know what you're talking about? I absolutely 100% wanted the Patriots to win the Super Bowl, but when they lost, I at least respected the fact that it was a phenomenal upset by the Giants and that the game would go down as one of the best upsets of all time.

Why didn't Memphis deserve to be there? They put 78 points up against one of the best defensive teams in the country (UCLA). They also beat a very talented Texas team in the round before. They earned their spot in the championship game.

If Rose fouls on the last play Memphis wins, even though I wanted the Jayhawks to win (I pick them every year), they got extremely lucky. Chalmers shot shouldn't have even gone off.

Heck, if Memphis would of made one more free throw at the end of regulation (I think they were 1-5), Memphis would be your winners by a thrilling one point victory!

How is a number one seed winning in a sixty-four team tournament like the Giants losing Tiki Barber still at the end of his prime and going buckshit wild on the road every time out and winning the Super Bowl as a Wild Card? Kansas was given a #1 seed!

At the same time, Ugly_Duckling, you make it sound as if the Giants achieved the impossible. Certainly, the Patriots should have beaten them (and some questionable calls went the Giants way), but the Giants did not come out of nowhere. Eli Manning played out of his mind in the playoffs, the Giants were stellar on the road, and their defense, especially at the lines, was clearly fierce. The Giants were clearly not on the Buccaneers level; that would be a team achieving the impossible. Especially since you seem to focus merely on the Giants against the Patriots, that one game I think something like 30% were picking the Giants to win, clearly not 'no one'.

yeah I didn't mean kansas vs memphis I meant kansas in general

pfft. but let's not turn this into a dumb argument over a game that we should all just forget about.

and how did memphis not deserve it? because they suck, not just at ft's, at everything. they should've lost multiple times and ucla and texas figured they had easy wins and didn't play well (unc did the same thing).

but hey, what's happened is done, there's always next year. hoping for the first good final 4 since 05.

I see, sorry for the misunderstanding. I still don't agree, however, considering their incredible talent, but to each his own.

Agreed. :-)

Some would argue that Memphis and KU had the most talented teams in the tournament, but then again, talent means nothing in an all-or-nothing tournament like this. And I suppose this year's Final 4 was boring, but I can't complain. However, the lack of Cinderella teams in either this year's or last year's tournament is kind of depressing.

this year had it's good share of "cinderella teams", just none of them made the final 4. and they don't usually do, and almost never get any further. the real "cinderella teams" in the final rounds are the 3, 4, 5 etc seeds. as cool as george mason's run or davidson's run was they hardly had a chance of winning it all (well, davidson shouldve beaten kansas and kansas won so who knows, but likely unc wouldve blown them out). in 2006 I was going for LSU after they upset dook, that would've been a cool win

Ohio State won the NIT Championship. They really should have been in this tournament (and I was saying this after selection, not just retrospectively now). I think the selection committee made some pretty indefensible mistakes this year.
